    alliances, and also just the lack of

    stunning to a lot of these Trump voters.

    phone. This is a Trump voter right here.

    what kind of idiot puts his wife in a

    group chat that has access to military

    documents?

    signal chat issue that came out with

    information with the reporter in that

    chat? I was bothered by both of them

    destroyed, but because that's one of

    Hemmed, but he's the United Nations

    ambassador now. Yeah. Yeah. You know, um

    I think look, Jay put it perfectly,

    which is people are coming to sense that

    something you really want in a

    president, which is a sense of
    00:02:22
    accountability,

    um is not there with Donald Trump,

    right? I mean, we we we saw this uh with

    the stock market, right? When the stock

    market was going great, right, at the
    00:02:32
    beginning of the inauguration, you know,

    the president puts up a tweet saying,
    00:02:34
    "This is the Trump stock market." Then

    it turns around, he says, "No, it's the
    00:02:37
    Biden stock market." And I think, you
    00:02:38
    know, I think if I'd had an opportunity

    to ask Jay a question, it's it's it's
    00:02:43
    not just about classified information
    00:02:45
    and how vulnerable that becomes to
    00:02:46
    Havana and Thran and Beijing and Moscow.

    That may not hit home for most Americans
    00:02:51
    who aren't familiar with um you know,
    00:02:54
    classified information, all that stuff.

    But you know what America sees here?

    They say, "Wow, our most responsible
    00:02:59
    national security officials, the folks
    00:03:00
    who look after nuclear weapons and

    decide whether we're going to put our

    troops in harm's way are a bunch of

    yahoos, right? So what about the folks

    who are like running Medicare? What
    00:03:09
    about the folks who are you know running
    00:03:12
    farm programs that uh American farmers
    00:03:14
    rely on? Do they have any reason to
    00:03:16
    believe that there is any steady hand on
    00:03:19
    any tiller in the federal government? I
    00:03:21
    mean sadly when you look at the range
    00:03:23
    from you know uh Elon Musk to Mike Waltz
    00:03:26
    to you know all of the crazy that was
    00:03:29
    unleashed with tariffs you wonder is
    00:03:30
    there anybody of any competence inside
    00:03:32
    the White House? you know, as the
    00:03:35
    ranking Democratic member of the
    00:03:36
    intelligence community, you're able to
    00:03:38
    see a lot of sensitive documents, and I
    00:03:40
    know there's things that you can to talk
    00:03:42
    about, but while we have you on the
    00:03:45
    podcast, and I just want to hear from
    00:03:46
    you just generally, like how bad how bad
    00:03:51
    is it right now? And what what should
    00:03:53
    the American people know in terms of
    00:03:56
    what keeps you up at night that you can
    00:03:59
    share based on the way this Trump regime
    00:04:02
    has handled things? Sure. I mean, it's
    00:04:04
    not complicated if we start with
    00:04:05
    Signalgate, right? and and and you know
    00:04:08
    what the American people saw there was
    00:04:10
    that before a military raid
    00:04:13
    um the secretary of defense on a signal
    00:04:16
    chat that included a reporter put up
    00:04:18
    tactical details weapon systems timing
    00:04:22
    targets that had the Chinese or the
    00:04:25
    Russians and they've got the capability
    00:04:26
    to do it gotten that information and
    00:04:28
    handed it to the Houthis the Houthis
    00:04:30
    would have swiveled around their air
    00:04:31
    defenses and we'd have dead pilots right
    00:04:33
    now or sunken ships now by the grace of
    00:04:35
    God that didn't happen. So that's
    00:04:37
    obviously a testament to the lack of
    00:04:40
    judgment of our Secretary of Defense and
    00:04:42
    Mike Waltz. Secondly, you know, we get
    00:04:44
    the information that we get cuz lots of
    00:04:47
    patriotic Americans in uniform or spies
    00:04:50
    for the CIA, intelligence officers put
    00:04:52
    their lives at risk every single day.
    00:04:55
    and keeping them safe is the reason we
    00:04:58
    are super careful with classified
    00:05:00
    information because if it gets out that
    00:05:02
    we know something that was said in a
    00:05:04
    meeting with Vladimir Putin, just for
    00:05:06
    example, they'll figure out who did that
    00:05:08
    and that person gets a bullet to the
    00:05:10
    back of their head and apart from the
    00:05:11
    moral aspects of that, that means we get
    00:05:14
    a lot less critical information. So
    00:05:16
    that's why this stuff is life and death.

    It's not something to be toyed around or

    to be screwed around with on a private
    00:05:21
    phone with signal chats on it. Look, we

    know the Houthies have already shot

    down, what was it, six, seven Reaper

    drones. Um, I, you know, how do we know

    one way or another with the lack of, um,

    good data coming to us now and with all

    of the manipulation, how to accurately

    assess something like that? Well, how is

    that happening? or if we're looking

    towards you know getting accurate data

    in Ukraine or elsewhere you know is

    there a mechanism now where the sharing

    of this data is still in a way that that

    you feel good about the data on the

    intelligence community or do even you

    have concerns now based on the fact that

    there are director of national

    intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and all of

    these people that you're not even

    getting the right data to assess this

    stuff. Well, let's let's take that at

    two levels. Um, sort of building on what
    00:06:17
    I just said. Let's imagine, and this is
    00:06:19
    purely hypothetical, but um, but it's
    00:06:22
    possible. Let's imagine that we've got a
    00:06:24
    source inside the Halisco cartels,
    00:06:27
    right? And they're feeding us
    00:06:29
    information about how the cartels are
    00:06:31
    bringing in the fentanyl precursors or
    00:06:33
    we have a source inside Beijing telling
    00:06:36
    us what the government, this is what
    00:06:37
    spying is, right? So, imagine those
    00:06:39
    sources. And they know that if they get
    00:06:42
    exposed, not only will they be tortured
    00:06:44
    to death and killed, but probably in the
    00:06:46
    case of the cartels, so will every
    00:06:47
    member of their family and all of their
    00:06:49
    pets. And so they're waking up this
    00:06:51
    morning thinking, "Okay, I'm serving the
    00:06:54
    United States and my life my life
    00:06:56
    depends on the United States being
    00:06:58
    exquisitly competent with their
    00:07:00
    preservation of secrets." What do you
    00:07:02
    think their conclusion is? I mean, I
    00:07:04
    know what my conclusion would be if my
    00:07:05
    life depended on, you know, Mike Waltz
    00:07:07
    not having signal chats with the
    00:07:09
    director of national intelligence that a
    00:07:11
    reporter can take a picture of. So,
    00:07:13
    that's a huge liability for the United
    00:07:16
    States. Now, look, our people are good,
    00:07:18
    our satellites are good. We're going to
    00:07:19
    get good data. Um, but Americans need to
    00:07:22
    ask the right question. This is the
    00:07:23
    second level at which I would answer
    00:07:24
    your question, which is, you know, the
    00:07:26
    objective in Yemen is not to blow up a
    00:07:29
    bunch of Houthis. That's a means to an
    00:07:31
    end. And that's to get them to stop
    00:07:33
    shooting at ships in the Red Sea. So,

    you'll know the successes happened when
    00:07:37
    ships can transit the Red Sea on their
    00:07:39
    way to the Suez Canal. That has not
    00:07:41
    happened yet, even though the Trump
    00:07:43
    administration is pounding their chest
    00:07:45
    about the amount of rubble that they've
    00:07:46
    been able to bounce around in North
    00:07:49
    Yemen. So, that's how we judge success.

    You know, has the mission of opening the
    00:07:53
    Suez Canal to commercial shipping been
    00:07:56
    achieved? And so far, that has not.

    Let's take a look at you mentioned the

    even Mike Wall while he was in the
    00:08:03
    cabinet meeting was either on a signal
    00:08:05
    or or some app and when you zoom in you
    00:08:09
    can see the conversations that he's
    00:08:11
    having. I mean you see a conversation
    00:08:12
    with JD Vance. I have confirmation from
    00:08:15
    my counterpart. It's turned off. He's
    00:08:18
    going to be here. Even Rubio, you can

    see something about there is time fully.

    There is time. Now look, we we don't

    know what that reference is, but there I

    mean you may I I don't but people may

    know what that reference is and for all

    we know there is time has major

    implications in a negotiation that's

    taking place somewhere right where you

    and that's again one example. Another

    example is we're negotiating with the

    Russians apparently right now over

    Ukraine, right? Imagine is it possible

    that you know our negotiating position
    00:09:29
    is on that signal chat? Yes, it is. So

    anyway, it's just Christmas morning in
    00:09:34
    Beijing and Moscow and Thrron and Havana
    00:09:37
    because of the lack of operational
    00:09:39
    security that these guys are showing.

    Let's just shift gears, talk about the

    economy. Let me show you another clip of

    Jay. By the way, Jay is a laidoff

    federal government worker as well who
    00:09:49
    voted for Trump. He worked in the IRS uh

    tax divi IRS tax advocacy division. He

    was fired. And there's another part of

    the clip that I'm not going to show

    where he show every day he wakes up to
    00:10:02
    see if he's going back to work or not

    and he misses the team that he worked

    for and he's not sure even what his

    status. It's like the least efficient

    thing ever. And people should go to NBC

    cared about doing what was best for the

    country. But now it's just feels

    me, Donald Trump. not, you know, the guy

    out there working in the trenches trying

    to make ends meet, trying to pay your
    00:11:10
    mortgage, trying to pay the bills. You

    it Congressman, when you hear that, to
    00:11:16
    me, that's just the reality. Donald

    Trump can say egg prices are down 87%,
    00:11:22
    which they're not. He can claim gas is
    00:11:24
    $1.98, which is not. But that's what's

    happening out there, huh? Yeah. You

    know, it's a very sad clip, right? Um,
    00:11:34
    it's a very sad clip because, you know,
    00:11:37
    apparently Jay lost his job.

    Um, and he discovered only recently
    00:11:43
    apparently that Donald Trump is all

    about me me in his words. Um, you know,

    yeah. Yeah. Uh, that is Donald Trump.

    And,

    uh, you know, as inflation begins to

    kick in as a result of the tariffs, um,
    00:11:59
    folks like Jay are going to be badly

    hurt. And as we speak, my Republican
    00:12:03
    counterparts are dismantling the safety
    00:12:06
    net that is there to catch Jay when he
    00:12:08
    falls, as he apparently has. You know,
    00:12:11
    if he loses his health insurance, he's
    00:12:13
    going to need Medicaid. Well, the
    00:12:14
    Republicans are going to cut $80 billion
    00:12:16
    a year out of Medicaid. Um why? To
    00:12:21
    provide tax cuts to the wealthiest
    00:12:24
    people on this planet. Um and two things
    00:12:26
    to say about that. Number one, that's
    00:12:28
    just wrong. And Jay's situation's going
    00:12:31
    to get no better. And look, as a
    00:12:33
    Democrat, I have to think about this.

    You know, why did we not do a better
    00:12:37
    job? How did Jay get convinced by a con
    00:12:41
    man, an obvious con man, to the point
    00:12:44
    where he's only now discovering that
    00:12:46
    Trump is about me me? I don't blame Jay

    for that. I I to some extent I blame we

    Democrats who failed to take the to tell

    the story in such a way as to get his

    vote and avoid this. So, the point I'm

    making here is that yeah, this is a

    tragedy and shame on Donald Trump, but

    man, it really highlights the need for

    self-reflection on the part of the
    00:13:08
    Democratic party.

    And Congressman, let's just talk also

    when I have someone like you on here,

    um, you know, oftentimes an interviewer

    comes in with a series of questions, but
    00:13:19
    you you you're seeing things that I'm

    not seeing. So I often ask now at the

    end of these interviews, is there
    00:13:25
    something that you think is just not
    00:13:26
    being discussed out there that you think
    00:13:29
    deserves to get more attention right now
    00:13:32
    that you're focused on and you want the
    00:13:33
    American people to focus on? I I'll
    00:13:36
    share with you an
    00:13:37
    anxiety that I don't think people are
    00:13:40
    thinking enough about. Um and and that
    00:13:43
    is um the my very real anxiety um that
    00:13:48
    we could easily find ourselves in a war
    00:13:51
    uh with Iran. Uh now it's a really
    00:13:54
    interesting question right because on
    00:13:55
    the one hand I think that the president
    00:13:57
    himself I'll give him credit here is
    00:13:59
    very skeptical of wars particularly wars
    00:14:02
    in the Middle East right he makes fun of
    00:14:03
    the neocons and he's got a lot of people
    00:14:05
    who make fun of the neocons. I also know
    00:14:08
    that it is um in my opinion, I don't
    00:14:11
    know it obviously, but in my opinion, uh
    00:14:13
    I believe that um Israel is very likely
    00:14:17
    to undertake a strike of the Iranian
    00:14:19
    nuclear uh infrastructure. Now, setting
    00:14:22
    aside whether that's a good idea or a
    00:14:24
    bad idea, I'm not sure I'm smart enough
    00:14:25
    to know. um the potential uh shock to
    00:14:30
    global energy prices if oil can't move
    00:14:33
    through the Persian Gulf uh on top of
    00:14:36
    the tariffs um could really be
    00:14:39
    catastrophic for the global economy and
    00:14:41
    the US economy. So, I'm carrying around
    00:14:44
    a lot of anxiety um that that we will
    00:14:47
    not be
    00:14:48
    statesmanlike, we being in primarily the
    00:14:51
    White House in thinking about the very
    00:14:53
    high probability of a shooting war
    00:14:56
    involving Iran. Um now, again, this is
    00:14:58
    not an Iraq war. I don't think there's
    00:15:00
    any chance we invade. But if there's a
    00:15:04
    strike on the Iranian nuclear
    00:15:05
    infrastructure, and again, setting aside
    00:15:07
    whether that's a good or bad idea, the
    00:15:09
    impact on energy prices and then the
    00:15:11
    impact that could have on the US economy
    00:15:13
    is really concerning to me right now.

      For this purpose you need VLC-player, which can be downloaded for free from the official website https://www.videolan.org/vlc/.

      How to play streaming video through VLC player:

      • in video formats, hover your mouse over "Streaming Video**";
      • right-click on "Copy link";
      • open VLC-player;
      • select Media - Open Network Stream - Network in the menu;
      • paste the copied link into the input field;
      • click "Play".

      To download streaming video via VLC player, you need to convert it:

      • copy the video address (URL);
      • select "Open Network Stream" in the "Media" item of VLC player and paste the link to the video into the input field;
      • click on the arrow on the "Play" button and select "Convert" in the list;
      • select "Video - H.264 + MP3 (MP4)" in the "Profile" line;
      • click the "Browse" button to select a folder to save the converted video and click the "Start" button;
      • conversion speed depends on the resolution and duration of the video.

      Warning: this download method no longer works with most YouTube videos.
