Godamn you. Godamn you. Godamn you.
00:03:34
[Music]
00:03:42
[Music]
00:03:46
I can't believe we had to get this.
00:03:48
>> I know.
00:03:52
[Applause]
00:03:55
>> Oh my god.
00:04:03
>> Oh, thank you.
00:04:05
Oh no.
00:04:06
>> Oh yeah.
00:04:11
>> Yeah. No kidding.
00:04:23
[Music]
00:04:32
>> First the of trans people. They hate the
00:04:36
struggles of due process and the
00:04:38
separation of power.
00:04:40
>> People
00:04:44
are smelling
00:04:47
[Music]
00:04:54
amazing.
00:04:56
>> That's the best I've ever seen.
00:05:00
[Music] [Applause]
00:05:01
[Music]
00:05:10
Can you take a picture of me in front of
00:05:17
me?
00:05:18
>> Oh, yes.
00:05:22
[Music]
00:05:27
>> All right. Oh, God. That's my job.
00:05:32
You're welcome.
00:05:37
[Music]
00:05:39
>> John Bolton, James Comey, Kiss Jace,
00:05:43
even they get targeted because if they
00:05:45
would do this to those in power, think
00:05:48
what this means for everyday people.
00:05:51
>> So it matters that people are coming
00:05:53
out. It matters. It shows our power. It
00:05:57
shows that we are the majority. It gives
00:05:59
courage to people and it strips away
00:06:02
Trump's claim to legitimacy.
00:06:05
But the truth is, and you're here
00:06:07
because you know this, that as beautiful
00:06:09
as righteous as these protests will be
00:06:12
today, on their own, they are not
00:06:14
enough.
00:06:16
>> Because fascism, and that's what we're
00:06:18
facing, fascism does not yield to
00:06:20
outrage alone. Fascism, unless and until
00:06:25
it is removed from power, decisively
00:06:28
defeated, driven from power, fascism
00:06:31
will barrel over even the most powerful
00:06:33
and beautiful resistance. It will carry
00:06:36
out greater and greater atrocities and
00:06:39
it will violently shut down the space
00:06:41
for anybody to stand up against it. This
00:06:44
is what we must stop.
00:06:47
So, a lot of the people out here today
00:06:49
when we join the bigger march and the
00:06:51
march over there, they're going to sense
00:06:53
this. They're out here for good reason,
00:06:55
but they're going to be asking many of
00:06:57
them, what's next? What's the plan? How
00:07:01
do we really end this nightmare? And you
00:07:04
know what? We have to bring them that
00:07:07
plan. We have a plan. It begins November
00:07:11
5th right here in DC when we flood this
00:07:14
city with nonviolent protests starting
00:07:17
at 11:00 a.m. on the National Mall and
00:07:20
we kick off a nonviolent, sustained and
00:07:23
growing movement of millions and
00:07:24
millions that comes back again and again
00:07:27
and does not stop until we drive Trump
00:07:30
from power.
00:07:36
>> This is possible. It is possible to
00:07:39
drive out Trump. This is possible not
00:07:41
just because we are a majority though
00:07:43
that matters. It's also possible because
00:07:46
this country is deeply divided from the
00:07:48
top to the bottom. And there are even
00:07:51
those within the ruling structures of
00:07:53
this country who are deeply opposed to
00:07:55
Trump and the way he's shredding the
00:07:57
constitution and degrading America's
00:08:00
standing in the world. Now, we could
00:08:02
come at this from different
00:08:03
perspectives, but it matters that there
00:08:05
is opposition to him within the halls of
00:08:08
power.
00:08:09
>> But right now, this these forces opposed
00:08:12
to Trump are overwhelmed and they're on
00:08:14
the defensive.
00:08:15
>> Yep.
00:08:16
>> But that can change. But that can only
00:08:19
change. That will only change. They will
00:08:22
only be compelled and enabled to play
00:08:24
the role they need to play in the
00:08:26
removal of Trump from office. If there
00:08:28
is the kind of nonviolent massive
00:08:31
political earthquake from below that we
00:08:34
can bring that only the people can bring
00:08:37
and this is what we need to do. This is
00:08:40
the vision of November 5th. Come out in
00:08:42
the streets and shake the foundations of
00:08:45
this country until we bring about the
00:08:47
kind of political realignments within
00:08:50
the halls of power where Trump is
00:08:52
actually removed. We have a strategy. We
00:08:56
have a plan. But we need to bring it to
00:08:58
people today. Look around. A few hundred
00:09:02
people on a mission
00:09:05
>> can make a huge difference among tens of
00:09:08
thousands who are agonized but don't
00:09:10
know what's next. We need to bring it to
00:09:13
them. And we need to do it as the other
00:09:15
speakers have spoken about standing
00:09:17
together. Uniting all who can be united
00:09:20
from different perspectives overcoming
00:09:23
divide and conquer schemes because we
00:09:25
cannot win this alone. We can only win
00:09:27
it together.
00:09:29
[Music]
00:09:32
>> So I want to call on you today, not just
00:09:36
to march, not just to chant, but to join
00:09:39
us in being on a mission to let the tens
00:09:42
of thousands and maybe hundreds of
00:09:44
thousands in DC and across this country
00:09:47
know about November 5th to come back
00:09:50
here. We need to change this today. Not
00:09:52
enough people know this plan and we need
00:09:55
to make a major that today. So, get
00:10:00
stacks of these palm cards, help hand
00:10:02
them out, get the signs, and not just
00:10:05
take them up yourself, but give them to
00:10:07
others. Sign up for a webinar tomorrow
00:10:10
at 6:00 p.m. and sign others up to learn
00:10:13
the plan to drive this regime from
00:10:15
power. Let's get organized because
00:10:18
together we can change the course of
00:10:20
history and nothing less is acceptable.
00:10:23
So I want to ask you to join me in
00:10:26
conclusion. Put your fist in the air
00:10:29
>> and make this pledge to the people of
00:10:32
the world. To the immigrants living in
00:10:35
fear to the sisters and brothers and
00:10:37
beautiful people to your left and right.
00:10:39
Make this pledge together in the name of
00:10:42
humanity.
00:10:44
>> In the name of humanity.
00:10:45
>> In the name of humanity.
00:10:48
>> In the name of humanity.
00:10:50
>> We refuse to accept. We refuse to accept
00:10:54
>> We refuse to accept
00:10:56
>> We refuse to accept
00:10:58
>> a fascist America.
00:11:00
>> a fascist America.
00:11:02
>> Trump must go now.
00:11:04
>> Trump must go now.
00:11:06
>> Trump must go now.
00:11:08
>> Trump must go now.
00:11:10
>> November 5th.
00:11:11
>> November 5th.
00:11:13
>> November 5th.
00:11:14
>> November 5th.
00:11:15
>> Flood DC.
00:11:17
>> Flood DC.
00:11:18
>> Together we can. Together we can
00:11:21
>> make history.
00:11:23
>> Make history.
00:11:24
>> Thank you, sisters and brothers and
00:11:26
beautiful people.
00:11:29
>> All right, that was beautiful. Again,
00:11:31
one more round of applause for Sana
00:11:32
Taylor.
00:11:35
[Music]
00:11:36
>> Okay, I got to learn that last one she
00:11:38
did. How'd it go? November 5th.
00:11:40
>> November 5th.
00:11:41
>> Flood DC.
00:11:42
>> Flood DC.
00:11:43
>> Together we can.
00:11:45
>> Together we can
00:11:46
>> make history.
00:11:47
>> Make history.
00:11:48
>> Sounds good to me.
00:11:50
Okay, so we're gonna have one final
00:11:52
speaker. Um, we have there's an
00:11:54
attorney, Octavia Carson. Is that her
00:11:57
last name? She she is she's not able to
00:11:59
make it here on time. She's with the DC
00:12:02
lawyers against the Trump Agenda. She
00:12:04
sent a statement which Morawi is going
00:12:05
to come up and read and that's going to
00:12:07
be our final statement. Um, so after
00:12:10
this statement, if people got to get
00:12:12
your banners together, if you got to get
00:12:14
the things you got to get together to
00:12:15
get ready to march, just we'll hear this
00:12:16
statement. We'll get, you know, let me
00:12:17
get everybody's attention on this and
00:12:19
then after that we'll get ourselves
00:12:20
ready and we'll get marching and KB will
00:12:22
lead us off with Chance. So, welcome
00:12:24
back up. Moroi is speaking for Octavia
00:12:26
Carson.
00:12:27
Attorney Octavia Carson.
00:12:30
>> All right. All right.
00:12:32
I'm reading this on behalf of attorney
00:12:33
Octavia Carson. She says, "Good morning,
00:12:36
DC." >> Good morning.
00:12:37
>> Good morning, DC.
00:12:39
>> Good morning.
00:12:40
>> Right on. She says, "Good morning." Can
00:12:43
you feel that? That's the sound of
00:12:45
people power, not palace power. Today,
00:12:48
we gather not to bow before a throne,
00:12:50
but to stand together in defense of a
00:12:52
nation that prom promised us liberty,
00:12:55
equality, and justice for all. We are DC
00:12:59
lawyers against the Trump agenda. And
00:13:01
today, on No King's Day, we're reminding
00:13:03
America that we don't crown kings here.
00:13:06
We elect leaders. We hold them
00:13:08
accountable. And we will never surrender
00:13:11
this republic to tyranny in a designer
00:13:13
suit.
00:13:15
>> We are lawyers, advocates, organizers,
00:13:18
and ordinary citizens who still believe
00:13:20
in the rule of law, not the rule of one
00:13:22
man. We read we read the Constitution.
00:13:25
We fought for its promises. And we're
00:13:27
here to say the law belongs to the
00:13:29
people, not the powerful.
00:13:32
>> Justice is not a privilege. It's a
00:13:35
birthright. >> That's right.
00:13:37
When one person tries to twist democracy
00:13:39
into dictatorship, when lies replace law
00:13:42
and fear replaces freedom, we stand up.
00:13:45
>> Yep.
00:13:46
>> We don't whisper in courtrooms. We raise
00:13:49
our voices in the street.
00:13:51
>> Yep.
00:13:52
>> We know what's at stake. They want us to
00:13:55
forget that truth still matters.
00:13:58
>> They want us to believe that justice can
00:13:59
be bought, that loyalty can be coerced,
00:14:02
that power makes you immune. But here's
00:14:04
what we know and we say and say it with
00:14:06
me. No one is above the law.
00:14:08
>> No one is above the law.
00:14:10
>> When we say no king's day, we mean no
00:14:12
president's above prosecution. No
00:14:14
billionaire is above accountability. No
00:14:17
movement that silences the will of the
00:14:18
people. We are here to remind every
00:14:20
leader, every judge, every voter. This
00:14:23
is a democracy, not a dynasty. So what
00:14:26
do we do now? We vote like our freedoms
00:14:28
depend on it because they do. We
00:14:31
organize like our rights depend on it
00:14:33
because they do. We speak out like our
00:14:35
silence will cost us everything because
00:14:37
it will. Lawyers, law students,
00:14:40
citizens, this is your call. Use your
00:14:42
skills, your platforms, your courage.
00:14:45
Challenge corruption. Protect the
00:14:47
courts. Defend the journalists. Stand
00:14:49
with the people who are being silenced
00:14:50
and targeted. Talk to your neighbors and
00:14:52
community about politics. Don't shy away
00:14:54
from the conversation. Your life depends
00:14:56
on it. Because the law doesn't live in
00:14:58
the halls of Congress or behind
00:14:59
courthouse walls. The law lives in us.
00:15:02
On this no kings day, let history
00:15:04
remember that when they tried to crown a
00:15:06
tyrant, we showed up not as subjects but
00:15:09
as defenders of the republic of the
00:15:11
republic.
00:15:13
>> Say it with me. No kings.
00:15:15
>> No kings.
00:15:16
>> No fear.
00:15:17
>> No fear.
00:15:18
>> No surrender.
00:15:19
>> No surrender.
00:15:20
>> Not now. Not ever.
00:15:22
>> Not now. Not ever.
00:15:24
>> This is all America. We are not giving
00:15:25
it back. Thank you, DC. Keep marching,
00:15:28
keep on fighting, and keep believing in
00:15:30
the power of the people and the promise
00:15:31
of the law. And just to tie that into
00:15:33
the local, just remember when Mayor
00:15:36
Bowser tells us that she's protecting
00:15:38
home rule, we say that's a lie. She is
00:15:40
helping them to take home rule. She's
00:15:42
rolling out the red carpet now. No
00:15:45
amount of concessions will stop those
00:15:47
racists in the White House from doing
00:15:48
what they want to do. The only thing
00:15:50
that will stop them is a movement where
00:15:52
she can stand, you know, toe to uh
00:15:55
shoulder-to-shoulder with us to help
00:15:56
defend because it was created home was
00:15:58
fought for by the people and will be
00:16:00
defended by the people. And every time
00:16:02
she concedes, she interrupts our ability
00:16:04
to do that. All right. Now, let's go
00:16:06
march.
00:16:11
>> Okay. So, we can go ahead and people can
00:16:13
line up. Get ready to march. I see we
00:16:15
already got a crew doing that.
00:16:17
You can gather wherever you're ready,
00:16:19
wherever you can get in there. As Sarah
00:16:21
Taylor said earlier, there's there's
00:16:22
palm cards from fashion. If people want
00:16:24
to take those, you can an orange shirt
00:16:27
and give some of those to people along
00:16:29
the way.
00:16:32
>> Go ahead. Take it away.
00:16:51
Swing by.
00:17:00
[Music]
00:17:11
No crowns. Kings.
00:17:13
>> USA, where freedom rings.
00:17:15
>> USA, where freedom rings.
00:17:17
>> No kings. No crowns.
00:17:19
>> No kings. No crowns.
00:17:21
>> We the people won't back down.
00:17:23
>> We the people won't back down.
00:17:25
>> No crowns. No kings.
00:17:27
>> No crowns. No kings.
00:17:29
>> USA, where freedom rings. USA freedom
00:17:32
race.
00:17:33
>> No kings, no crowns.
00:17:35
>> No kings, no crowns.
00:17:37
>> We the people won't back down.
00:17:39
>> We won't back down.
00:17:41
>> Thank you.
00:17:53
>> Okay, so we're going to get ready to
00:17:55
march soon. And first off, I want to go
00:17:57
over some agreements.
00:18:00
As as uh Mike Johnson says, we're all
00:18:03
violent folks being paid by George
00:18:04
Soros. Well, not quite true. We're just
00:18:09
here trying to do what's right for our
00:18:11
country. So, we have a few agreements. I
00:18:14
want if folks can give a thumbs up if
00:18:16
you agree. We will love, respect, and
00:18:20
accept the interdependence of all lives,
00:18:22
including the lives of our adversaries.
00:18:26
We will strive for a world free from
00:18:28
violence and we will use actions, words
00:18:31
and symbols consistent with this
00:18:33
struggle.
00:18:36
We will not use or instigate violence
00:18:38
actions against any person or property.
00:18:41
This includes verbal, emotional,
00:18:43
psychological and spiritual violence as
00:18:45
well as physical violence.
00:18:48
We understand some acting with us face
00:18:51
greater systemic risk and we will
00:18:53
actively mitigate that risk as
00:18:55
individuals and collectively.
00:18:59
We will follow the directions of action
00:19:01
organizers or remove ourselves from the
00:19:03
action if we are not able to do so.
00:19:07
We will not record individuals without
00:19:09
their consent and we will share
00:19:10
information about individuals with
00:19:12
others only on a need to- know basis.
00:19:14
So, if you don't want your picture
00:19:16
taken, um there's going to be a lot of
00:19:19
photographers here. Um either wear a
00:19:21
mask or have a sign that's going to go
00:19:22
right in front of your face. And I I get
00:19:24
it. Everybody has different levels of
00:19:26
risk here. Um and we need to be mindful
00:19:28
of that.
00:19:30
Uh we will refrain from initiating
00:19:32
conversations with police and we will
00:19:34
refer all police question
00:19:38

00:19:47

[Music]
00:20:05
[Music]
00:20:07
Bless you.
00:20:10
[Applause]

00:20:23
Elbow.

and the drummer. Thank you. I've been
01:43:04
reminded
01:43:06
[Applause]
01:43:14
Let's
01:43:22
be honest. We're women. We can do things
01:43:24
like
01:43:45
It's pretty
01:44:02
amazing. I I have never been a planner
01:44:06
for this kind of a big march before.
01:44:07
>> Well, thank you to our planners.
01:44:12
[Applause]
01:44:13
and stayed and yeah, keep resisting.
01:44:17
Take the streets always.
01:44:19
>> Um,
01:44:22
>> yeah, if you're a Virginia or a uh New
01:44:24
Jerseyian, election passing right now. I
01:44:26
I want to The signs are so creative. I'm
01:44:30
going to give a few shout outs. Woman
01:44:32
here has got a sign. Turn it around.
01:44:39
[Applause]
01:44:52
start to expand. Try to stay to the
01:44:53
outside as much as you can. Yeah,
01:44:55
>> we're growing right as we're getting to
01:44:57
the And then we're about to
01:45:07
[Applause]
01:45:16
to be part of the team that designs in
01:45:19
pink banners. Put your hand up. Anybody
01:45:22
think that we need banner painters? We
01:45:24
need more people like Marcos and S who
01:45:28
designed and organized the banner
01:45:29
painting. Um, who here thought maybe I
01:45:32
could be a marshall? We're going to be
01:45:34
twice as great people next time. We're
01:45:36
gonna be need more marshals. Who here is
01:45:37
willing to think about being a marshal?
01:45:41
>> Future marshal.
01:45:44
>> Lisa.
01:45:45
>> Um, hey, so some of the photographers
01:45:47
would like us to turn around so that
01:45:50
they can get a shot looking at the
01:45:51
Washington Monument. So, if everybody
01:45:52
can turn their signs around, that would
01:45:54
be awesome. People,
01:45:57
no people, if you're back against the
01:45:59
monument, they will get a shot back
01:46:01
there.
01:46:14
Oh yeah.
01:46:26
>> Okay. Thank you. Now
01:46:30
[Applause]
01:46:31
>> you've got a few uh options now. The uh
01:46:35
main rally has begun. It's at third in
01:46:38
Pennsylvania, which is the other end of
01:46:39
the of the um of the mall. We are a
01:46:43
theater march. There are many other
01:46:44
theater marches coming from around the
01:46:46
city. We felt like process was going to
01:46:48
be enough. If your plan is to walk up to
01:46:52
the next um to the big rally, please
01:46:55
take your signs with you, your flags
01:46:57
with you. If you want to carry a big
01:46:59
banner that you don't own, just have a
01:47:01
word. Please arrange to get it back to
01:47:03
us. Who here is planning to walk to the
01:47:06
big rally? Don't go yet.
01:47:08
[Applause]
01:47:10
all be marching down the mall. Uh the
01:47:13
safety marshals might or might not be
01:47:15
with you, but you'll be nice and safe on
01:47:17
the mall. You'll have a blast. Um you
01:47:20
can also walk to one of the metros and
01:47:23
go home. Some of us are going to know
01:47:25
King of Action back in the summer. We
01:47:28
are planning to leave and uh go home
01:47:30
from here.
01:47:32
Not so many.
01:47:34
Okay. Uh two final requests for when we
01:47:38
break up.
01:47:39
Um, one,
01:47:41
>> the park service is short-handed because
01:47:44
of the shutdown. Take everything you
01:47:46
brought, including your sign. You think
01:47:48
everybody wants your sign. Nobody wants
01:47:50
it as much as you. Keep it, keep it with
01:47:53
you. Carry it away. Uh, use it next
01:47:56
time.

here in this region, trading and living
01:57:32
in peace with one another
01:57:35
until people wearing collars like me
01:57:38
decided to displace them.
01:57:42
And so we gather to remember that the
01:57:45
land that we stand on is sacred land.
01:57:49
And we acknowledge those who have come
01:57:51
before us. We acknowledge the
01:57:54
descendants of uh uh formerly indentured
01:57:58
servants then becoming slaves who traded
01:58:01
with those indigenous Americans on this
01:58:05
land.
01:58:06
And so you are standing on holy ground.
01:58:12
Amen.
01:58:18
I want to give honor and gratitude to
01:58:20
our creator God and to each
01:58:23
representative of our creator who has
01:58:26
gathered here today. I especially want
01:58:29
to thank the representation of DC clergy
01:58:32
who stand behind me and stand with me on

01:59:30
If I butchered anybody's name, as we say
01:59:33
in our tradition, please charge it to my
01:59:35
head and not to my heart.
01:59:39
In my tradition, there is a story uh in
01:59:43
the book of Daniel in the third chapter.
01:59:48
Uh it's a story that you can find in the
01:59:51
Hebrew Bible.
01:59:53
It's about three brothers named Shadrach
01:59:56
and Mach and Abednego.
02:00:00
And there was a king in the land in
02:00:04
those days.
02:00:06
And that that king's name was
02:00:09
Nebuchadnezzar.
02:00:11
He was a narcissistic king.
02:00:15
>> He was a prideful king. He believed that
02:00:19
neighbors should turn against neighbors
02:00:21
instead of loving neighbors.
02:00:23
>> He believed in the occupation of
02:00:26
territory and not the blessing of sacred
02:00:30
land.
02:00:31
>> And he told everybody in the land that
02:00:35
they had to bow down and worship him. Uh
02:00:40
they erected a a golden statue of him
02:00:43
and put it on the national I mean and
02:00:45
put it
02:00:47
uh uh uh in their land at that time. Uh
02:00:52
and and and and those those those those
02:00:55
three brothers who were gathered there,
02:00:57
those three sacred uh uh vessels of
02:01:01
holiness,
02:01:03
um they refused
02:01:06
to bow to that king.
02:01:09
and and and and and I I I just believe
02:01:12
that we have a few folk who are here
02:01:14
today who are willing to stand with me
02:01:18
and simply say, "We will not bow.

he stole from me. Took it back took

02:08:02
Took it back. Took my
02:08:09
house and I took what he stole from me.
02:08:13
Took it back.
02:08:21
Out in the streets. Out in the streets.

Out in the streets. Out in the streets.
02:08:28
Going to let no fascist take our

02:10:11
[Applause]
02:10:13
Oh yeah.
02:10:50
What?
02:11:05
They say that 2600
02:11:37
Got to get your
02:11:47
guys together.
02:11:51
Hey Barbie
02:12:10
intelligence behind you.
02:12:39
Lovely. Oh, lovely.
02:12:53
Oh, somebody
02:13:03
in there.
02:13:12
Have a good one.
02:13:21
>> Thanks for coming out.
02:13:40
Wow, guys.
02:13:50
Wait.
02:14:15
USA.
02:17:26
I don't care.
02:17:43
[Applause]
02:17:45
I am everything Donald Trump loves.
02:17:50
I am the Trump trifecta.
02:17:53
I'm also a bit of a socialist.
02:17:55
But but sh don't tell Steven Miller. He
02:17:59
alarms quite quickly.
02:18:02
Can I just say it is so heartwarming to
02:18:04
see so many of you out here in DC today.
02:18:07
DC, make some noise.
02:18:12
We need to make sure today that they
02:18:14
hear us in the White House and in the
02:18:18
capital.
02:18:20
All week I've heard Speaker Mike Johnson
02:18:23
and Republican members of Congress say
02:18:26
that this rally,
02:18:28
the No Kings rally, is a hate rally.
02:18:33
A hate rally.
02:18:35
the people who can't get through a
02:18:37
single day without hating on late night
02:18:40
comedians and overweight soldiers and
02:18:43
Muslim politicians and Mexican
02:18:45
immigrants and Palestinian refugees and
02:18:48
black women and transgender kids and
02:18:50
peaceful protesters and Mr. Freaking
02:18:53
Potato Head. They are lecturing us on
02:18:58
hate.
02:18:59
Really?
02:19:02
I'm not here out of hate.
02:19:05
I'm here out of love.
02:19:10
>> I'm here because I love this country. I
02:19:13
love America. I love the First
02:19:15
Amendment. I love our democracy. I love
02:19:18
our diversity. Yes, our diversity.
02:19:22
[Applause]
02:19:24
And I am not willing to sit back and
02:19:27
watch our glorious American
02:19:29
multi-racial, multicultural, democratic
02:19:32
experiment, our constitutional republic
02:19:35
destroyed by the guy from Home Alone 2.
02:19:40
Not going to do it
02:19:42
because I did not inherit America.
02:19:46
I did not inherit America.
02:19:49
I chose America. I wasn't born here. I
02:19:53
immigrated here. And we immigrants, we
02:19:56
love this country often more than the
02:19:58
people who are born here because
02:20:01
we chose to move here, live here, swear
02:20:05
an oath to the constitution here. An
02:20:07
oath
02:20:09
that the guy down the street violates
02:20:12
every morning and every night.
02:20:15
The great irony is, of course, that
02:20:17
Donald Trump is the son of an immigrant,
02:20:20
the grandson of an immigrant, and
02:20:22
married to an immigrant. In fact, two of
02:20:25
his three wives were immigrants, proving
02:20:28
yet again that immigrants will do the
02:20:30
jobs that even Americans are not willing
02:20:32
to do.
02:20:38
I immigrated here from the United
02:20:40
Kingdom. You want to talk about no
02:20:43
kings? The UK still has a king. King
02:20:46
Charles III. But even he has less gold
02:20:48
in his palace than Donald Trump has in
02:20:50
the Oval Office right now. Even King
02:20:53
Charles has more respect for democratic
02:20:56
norms and traditions than the whiny
02:20:58
authoritarian manchild trying to send
02:20:59
troops into as many blue cities as he
02:21:01
can. This is a president who says he
02:21:04
wants to be a dictator, but only for a
02:21:06
day. Well, we are now 271 days into his
02:21:10
wannabe dictatorship. He just went to
02:21:12
see the Egyptian president Cece, who is
02:21:14
a military dictator, runs one of the
02:21:16
most repressive regimes on earth. And he
02:21:18
went there and he said, "I want to
02:21:20
praise your fantastic leadership and
02:21:21
your low crime rate. This is who he
02:21:24
loves. This is the autocratic leader he
02:21:27
aspires to be." And of course, he was in
02:21:29
Egypt hailing his Gaza peace plan, which
02:21:33
is a ceasefire, yes, but not a peace
02:21:36
plan.
02:21:37
Donald Trump, the man who uses
02:21:38
Palestinian as a pjorative, as a slur,
02:21:41
has no plan for Palestinian freedom, no
02:21:44
plan for Palestinian statethood, no plan
02:21:48
for justice for the Palestinians who
02:21:50
have been massacred and starved and
02:21:52
genocided and ethnically cleansed for
02:21:54
the past two years, including the past
02:21:56
nine months of his presidency.
02:21:59
Meanwhile, Israel for the past week has
02:22:01
violated the ceasefire again and again,
02:22:03
killing Palestinians with impunity.
02:22:05
Yesterday they killed seven Palestinian
02:22:07
children during a ceasefire.
02:22:12
There is no peace in the Middle East
02:22:14
because as Dr. King said, peace is not
02:22:16
just the absence of violence, it is the
02:22:18
presence of justice.
02:22:22
So these are dark times, genocide
02:22:24
abroad, fascism at home, which is why
02:22:28
it's so crucial that we gather, we
02:22:29
organize, we rally like this. We
02:22:32
mobilize. We pluralize. We bring people
02:22:34
into the tent. We register voters. We
02:22:37
defend voters. We become voters if we're
02:22:39
not already.
02:22:41
And you know, they say we don't reach
02:22:43
out to the other side. We don't reach
02:22:45
out to conservatives or Republicans.
02:22:47
That we're in an echo chamber. Well, let
02:22:49
me say to every Republican and
02:22:52
conservative watching, aren't you the
02:22:54
ones who said no more big government, no
02:22:57
tyranny in America?
02:23:00
So if you believe that, what are you
02:23:03
doing defending
02:23:04
masked federal agents in unmarked cars,
02:23:07
bundling people off of the streets,
02:23:09
including American citizens, and
02:23:11
disappearing them? How are you okay with
02:23:14
that?
02:23:15
And if you're not okay with it, then
02:23:17
come over to our side. The side of the
02:23:21
Democrats,
02:23:22
the small D Democrats, not the big D
02:23:24
Democrats, not the Democratic Party,
02:23:26
those of us who are from all parties and
02:23:28
none, but those of us who care about
02:23:31
saving America so that we can get to our
02:23:34
250th birthday and still be free when we
02:23:37
reach 250 years.
02:23:41
Come over to our side. The side of no
02:23:44
crowns, no thrones, no kings. The side
02:23:49
of freedom, of liberty, of the
02:23:51
constitution, the first amendment, the
02:23:54
fourth amendment, the 14th amendment,
02:23:56
the 22nd amendment, which says two terms
02:23:59
means two terms.
02:24:02
And if you're not worried about Donald
02:24:04
Trump trying to stay on for a third
02:24:06
term, you should be. He's literally
02:24:08
selling merch. So, I worry about free
02:24:11
and fair elections in 2028. But then I
02:24:14
say, why should I worry? I see all of
02:24:15
you here today. What is there to worry
02:24:17
about? We here today are not spectators.
02:24:21
We are citizens. We are not bystanders.
02:24:25
We are proud and patriotic Americans.
02:24:27
And we Americans, we the people will not
02:24:30
allow our country to be taken over by
02:24:32
demagogues and dictators. We will not
02:24:35
stand for it.
02:24:37
So, let me ask you this.
02:24:40
I need to hear you.
02:24:42
Are you willing?
02:24:45
Are you willing?
02:24:48
Answer this. Are you willing to sit back
02:24:50
and let Trump shred our freedoms?
02:24:54
>> I can't hear you, DC. They need to hear
02:24:55
you in the White House. Are you willing
02:24:57
to let Trump shred our freedoms?
02:25:01
Are you willing to sit back and bend a
02:25:04
knee to fascists and white supremacists?
02:25:07
>> Are you willing to be the Americans on
02:25:09
whose watch democracy died?
02:25:12
>> Good. Because people power is our last
02:25:15
line of defense. Remember this. Donald
02:25:17
Trump has never ever not in three
02:25:19
elections won a majority of the vote.
02:25:22
Never. And I'll say this to you. I'll
02:25:26
say this to you. Here's the math that
02:25:28
they are scared of.
02:25:30
There are more of us than there are of
02:25:32
them.
02:25:35
We are the majority. Say it with me. We
02:25:40
are the majority. They're not loud
02:25:43
enough today. D. Come on, louder. We are
02:25:46
the majority.
02:25:49
Yes, we are. And we have no intention of
02:25:51
losing our country, our democracy, our
02:25:53
freedoms to that twice impeached
02:25:55
convicted criminal and his gang of
02:25:57
grifters. No way.
02:25:59
We will out organize them. We will
02:26:02
outvote them. We will outlast them.
02:26:05
Because when I see you all out here
02:26:07
today,
02:26:08
when I see you all out here today in
02:26:10
your thousands, in millions across the
02:26:12
country, I have hope. I have faith that
02:26:17
America can defeat this fascist threat,
02:26:20
this authoritarian mania, this MAGA
02:26:22
cult, and save our freedoms. And I also
02:26:25
have faith and hope that one day, one
02:26:28
day soon, the Palestinians will be free.
02:26:31
Thank you very much for your time.
02:26:34
God bless you all.
02:26:39
>> Ladies and gentlemen,
02:26:41
>> and hope that one day, one day soon, the
02:26:44
Palestinians will be free.
02:26:54
Ladies and gentlemen, let's give a warm
02:26:58
Washington DC welcome to Dear
02:27:01
Rashifling, chief political and advocacy
02:27:04
officer of the American Civil Liberties
02:27:07
Union.
02:27:11
>> Shut it down. The people united will
02:27:14
never be the people united will never be
02:27:19
a people united.
02:27:23
The people united will never be
02:27:26
defeated.
02:27:28
Say good job.
02:27:31
[Music]
02:27:38
[Music]
02:27:45
Say
02:27:46
[Music]
02:27:53
escal.
02:27:58
[Music]
02:28:03
Hallelujah.
02:28:04
>> Essa.
02:28:13
[Music]
02:28:23
>> When NYC is under attack, what do we do?
02:28:26
>> Stand up.
02:28:27
>> When NYC is under attack, what do we do?
02:28:29
>> Stand up. When NYC is under attack, what
02:28:32
do we do?
02:28:33
>> Stand up.
02:28:34
>> What do we do?
02:28:35
>> Stand up.
02:28:36
>> What do we do?
02:28:37
>> Stand up.
02:28:41
>> Stand up.
02:29:11
You got it.
02:29:29
[Music]
02:30:10
How was the line?
02:30:36
Do you want to sit up on the shoulders?
02:30:54
United will never be the
02:30:58
United
02:31:10
[Music]
02:31:12
Master
02:31:40
and
02:31:57
Yeah,
02:31:58
let me tell you what's going on.
02:32:18
Hey, hey, hey.
02:32:28
[Music]
02:32:31
Hey,
02:32:39
>> what democracy?
02:32:43
>> Show me what democracy looks like.
02:32:48
>> Show me what democracy looks like.
02:32:50
>> This is what democracy looks like.
02:32:53
>> Show me what democracy looks like.
02:32:55
>> This is what democracy looks like.
02:32:57
>> Show me what democracy looks like. This
02:33:00
is what democracy looks like.
02:33:02
>> Show us what democracy looks like.
02:33:04
>> This is what democracy looks like.
02:33:08
>> This is what democracy looks like.
02:33:20
also
02:33:38
turn them into dust.
02:33:58
How is it?
02:34:21
I feel like
02:34:30
spread out.
02:35:02
Welcome.
02:35:32
ballpower.
02:35:49
[Applause]
02:36:00
Equal.
02:36:03
Rise up.
02:36:09
>> Rise up.
02:36:11
>> Rise up.
02:36:13
>> Rise up.
02:36:15
>> Rise up.
02:36:18
[Applause]
02:36:20
[Music]
02:36:30
Get out of here.
02:36:56
Oh, sorry. Do you want to just walk up?
02:37:02
>> I want to thank every last one of you. I
02:37:05
want to thank all the organizers with
02:37:06
5051. I want to thank Political
02:37:08
Revolution, who's a national partner.
02:37:11
But I want to thank our children. I want
02:37:13
to thank our teachers. I want to thank
02:37:15
your hearts for doing this and being out
02:37:17
here in the street when they tried to
02:37:18
make you afraid.
02:37:26
The message today will be crystal clear
02:37:28
and they won't be able to ignore it.
02:37:31
There will be no kings in America. Not
02:37:33
today, not tomorrow, not ever. Thank
02:37:37
you.
02:37:47
Please welcome to our stage Oliver
02:37:50
Marino from Immigrant Legal Resource
02:37:53
Center and member of El Collectivo de
02:37:57
Familas Migrantes
02:37:59
and Apheni Evans, community organizer
02:38:03
with the Fair Budget Coalition.
02:38:06
[Applause]
02:38:09
[Music]
02:38:14
Thank you. Good morning.
02:38:18
>> Earlier this year, as the Trump
02:38:20
administration began its anti-immigrant
02:38:23
attacks from the
02:38:31
[Applause]
02:38:35
I think I see
02:38:41
the rainbow.
02:38:42
>> Rainbow with a skull.
02:38:48
[Applause]
02:38:54
[Music]
02:38:55
[Applause]
02:39:03
No, you're good.
02:39:11
>> Yeah, I see. I see the red text.
02:39:17
>> This This is still happening.
02:39:21
Just a few blocks from here. People have
02:39:23
been racially profiled, handcuffed, and
02:39:26
put in vehicles and taken.
02:39:30
Sometimes
02:39:32
they're transferred to detention centers
02:39:34
hundreds of miles away
02:39:37
in in states like Louisiana, Alabama,
02:39:41
and Georgia, away from family and away
02:39:44
from legal counsel.
02:39:48
And to be clear, here in DC, the
02:39:52
anti-immigrant attacks have have come
02:39:55
not only from the White House, but also
02:39:58
from our own mayor, Mayor Bowser.
02:40:02
[Applause]
02:40:04
Mayor Bowser tried to repeal DC's
02:40:07
Sanctuary Values Act, a local law that
02:40:10
limits collaboration between MPD, the
02:40:13
local police, and ICE.
02:40:16
But while politicians have failed us,
02:40:18
it's been DC residents that have stepped
02:40:20
up.
02:40:24
We have seen our people go out and film
02:40:26
ISIS abuses in the streets, share know
02:40:29
your rights information, provide mutual
02:40:32
support to families of people detained,
02:40:35
and organize to protect their immigrant
02:40:37
neighbors.
02:40:39
This is the moment to show solidarity,
02:40:42
to reject attempts to dehumanize and
02:40:45
criminalize our immigrant community, to
02:40:48
hold our elected officials accountable,
02:40:50
and to force them to stand up to an an
02:40:53
authoritarian administration that does
02:40:55
not care about due process and people's
02:40:58
constitutional rights.
02:41:00
[Applause]
02:41:04
In order for the Trump administration to
02:41:06
carry out its plans, it needs compliance
02:41:10
from the public and from local
02:41:12
governments. We must not comply.
02:41:16
We need to do all that's in our power to
02:41:19
protect immigrant families and our
02:41:20
neighbors. We need us. We need you. We
02:41:24
need each other to protect families, not
02:41:27
feds. Thank you.
02:41:34
[Applause]
02:41:36
Peace y'all.
02:41:38
[Music]
02:41:40
>> My name is Afeni and I'm a community
02:41:42
organizer with the Fair Budget Coalition
02:41:44
here in DC.
02:41:46
[Applause]
02:41:48
And this is my appeal.
02:41:52
In 1792 when the French monarchy was
02:41:55
abolished, the people established a new
02:41:59
a new republic.
02:42:01
When that one didn't quite work out, it
02:42:03
was a military dictatorship. Yikes. It
02:42:06
was abolished in 1848 and a second
02:42:09
republic was established. But that one
02:42:12
didn't quite fit. So their third
02:42:14
republic was erected in 1870.
02:42:18
That republic didn't smell right,
02:42:20
though. So they tried a fourth republic
02:42:23
in 1946
02:42:25
and the republic that we are witnessing
02:42:27
right now in France was established in
02:42:30
1958.
02:42:33
My fellow Americans, I am here to tell
02:42:35
you that the social contract in this
02:42:38
country has been broken.
02:42:41
[Applause]
02:42:42
[Music]
02:42:44
Decades of movement, work, progress, and
02:42:47
struggle have been wiped out by
02:42:49
Christian nationalists who seek dominion
02:42:51
over every aspect of our lives.
02:42:57
[Music]
02:42:58
Long before our IC started terrorizing
02:43:01
our streets, the police were gunning
02:43:03
down black people in their homes, their
02:43:05
cars, and in the streets in front of
02:43:06
their communities.
02:43:08
[Music]
02:43:09
The construction of cop cities and the
02:43:12
strengthening police state have
02:43:13
threatened our urban centers for years.
02:43:17
This current escalation in state
02:43:19
violence is nothing more than an
02:43:21
extension that the violence that
02:43:22
marginalized communities have been
02:43:24
bearing the brunt of.
02:43:28
>> This republic was sold as our American
02:43:31
dream, home of the free, land of the
02:43:36
brave. Yet it has reduced the outcome
02:43:39
that we are currently experiencing. A
02:43:41
system that edifies oligarchs and
02:43:44
creates false monarchs.
02:43:51
The society that we live in is what got
02:43:53
us here. It is what brought us to this
02:43:55
fever pitch. But we do not have to stay
02:43:58
here.
02:44:00
Now more than ever, we need to reimagine
02:44:02
a society that holds all of our humanity
02:44:05
to the highest priority.
02:44:07
We need a humane economy. We need
02:44:11
wellfunded public education. We need
02:44:14
affordable housing and healthcare that
02:44:17
does not bankrupt families that are just
02:44:19
trying to get by.
02:44:21
[Applause]
02:44:23
We need strategic youth investment in
02:44:26
music, arts, and recreation. Our
02:44:28
children need access to full, clean
02:44:31
water and fresh food.
02:44:35
In this moment, we need community. We
02:44:38
need compassion. We need love and
02:44:41
radical imagination. And most most
02:44:44
importantly, we need each other
02:44:47
[Applause]
02:44:51
>> because the social contract has been
02:44:55
broken. But we the people must revive
02:44:58
it.
02:44:59
[Music] [Applause]
02:45:04
We the people can be stewards for a land
02:45:07
of the free. We the people can be brave
02:45:10
and make this broken house into a home
02:45:12
for all of us because we are the source
02:45:16
of power in this country. Our labor, our
02:45:18
taxes, and our faith keep this system
02:45:21
going. So we must have the revolutionary
02:45:23
hope that collectively we the powerful
02:45:26
people have the capacity to create
02:45:28
something better. I'm here to tell you
02:45:31
that we must be audacious in our pursuit
02:45:33
of fulfilling that generational mandate
02:45:36
because with public sentiment nothing
02:45:39
can fail and without it but this system
02:45:42
cannot succeed.
02:45:44
[Applause]
02:45:46
[Music]
02:45:57
And now welcome to this no king stage an
02:46:00
American science educator, engineer,
02:46:04
comedian, television presenter,
02:46:07
inventor, keynote speaker and author. He
02:46:11
is a respected champion of scientific
02:46:14
literacy who has challenged opponents of
02:46:17
evidence-based education and policy on
02:46:20
climate change, evolution, and critical
02:46:23
thinking. Please welcome Bill Nye, the
02:46:28
science guy.
02:46:43
We love that song. Hello DC.
02:46:50
Fellow citizens,
02:46:52
it is wonderful to see so many of us out
02:46:55
here today. We are here for the same
02:46:58
reason our ancestors gathered here in
02:47:01
1776.
02:47:04
We want our government to run without a
02:47:06
cane. Our government is based on ideas
02:47:09
embodied in a constitution.
02:47:12
Among other remarkable features, it
02:47:14
guarantees our freedom to speak as we're
02:47:17
doing here today. Rather than doing one
02:47:20
monarch's bidding, we have agreed to
02:47:22
form a democracy, to work together, and
02:47:25
to follow the laws that derive from it.
02:47:28
No thrones, no crowns, no kings.
02:47:37
As many of you know, I am a native
02:47:40
Washingtonian.
02:47:43
>> I grew up here within the city
02:47:45
boundaries. And when you grow up here,
02:47:48
the affairs of the federal government
02:47:50
are very much a part of your life. I
02:47:53
remember well sitting on my father's
02:47:54
shoulders and waving to astronauts as we
02:47:58
as a nation celebrated their
02:48:00
accomplishments
02:48:01
back in 1964.
02:48:04
In 1964,
02:48:06
that was the first year my parents could
02:48:09
vote for president as citizens of the
02:48:12
District of Columbia. We still do not
02:48:15
have voting representation in the
02:48:17
district.
02:48:18
[Applause]
02:48:21
Someday perhaps
02:48:24
I remember well Martin Luther King's
02:48:26
dream and Resurrection City, the plywood
02:48:30
structures on the National Mall erected
02:48:32
to house protesters who came to town
02:48:35
demanding equal rights and opportunities
02:48:38
barely a month after Dr. King had been
02:48:41
assassinated.
02:48:42
I remember well the Vietnam War. The
02:48:46
mall was shouldertosh shoulder much as
02:48:49
it is today.
02:48:51
Traffic stopped citywide.
02:48:54
The protest movement expanded. There
02:48:56
were protests around the country and the
02:48:58
war was ended. We are protesting in the
02:49:03
same fashion today.
02:49:10
Only today
02:49:12
the stakes are higher. Rather than
02:49:15
abandoning a war against an elusive,
02:49:17
perhaps sometimes imaginary foe, we are
02:49:20
confronting the possible end of our
02:49:22
republic. We are here to tell our
02:49:25
lawmakers that what's going on in our
02:49:27
government is wrong. They must stop the
02:49:31
abuses of this petulent president and
02:49:33
his circle of sycopants. No thrones,
02:49:37
no crowns,
02:49:39
no kings.
02:49:47
This president and his associates cannot
02:49:49
tolerate dissent. To them, our free
02:49:52
speech is frightening. They are
02:49:54
arresting people and denying due process
02:49:57
in courts. They've tried to silence
02:49:59
television hosts. They're trying to fire
02:50:02
our indict civil servants, prosecutors,
02:50:06
judges, even their own cabinet members.
02:50:10
But in this land, these sorts of actions
02:50:13
are not new. In 1776, our ancestors had
02:50:17
had enough. They declared independence
02:50:20
from a king by means of a document
02:50:23
stored safely right over there on
02:50:25
Constitution Avenue in the National
02:50:27
Archives.
02:50:31
Although it was conceived 249 years ago,
02:50:34
the Declaration of Independence
02:50:37
describes a train of abuses
02:50:40
connected with an absolute authority. A
02:50:42
king with absolute power, no thrones, no
02:50:47
crowns, no kings.
02:50:50
[Music]
02:50:53
Their king had refused to honor the law.
02:50:56
Their king had refused to let lawmakers
02:50:58
be elected. The king had made court
02:51:01
judges dependent on his will. They cited
02:51:04
the king sending quote swarms of
02:51:07
officers to harass our people. Their
02:51:09
language referred to quote cruelty and
02:51:12
faithlessness scarcely paralleled in the
02:51:14
most barbarous of ages. Their king was
02:51:17
trying to quote render the military
02:51:19
independent and superior to civil power.
02:51:23
Our founders even centured King George
02:51:26
for cutting off trade with all parts of
02:51:29
the world.
02:51:31
Do these actions sound familiar?
02:51:35
>> 249 years later, no crowns, no thrones,
02:51:39
no king.
02:51:41
In short, the founders believe their
02:51:43
king was, in their words, quote, totally
02:51:46
unworthy to be the head of a civilized
02:51:49
nation. No thrones, no crowns, no kings.
02:51:54
Although the United Nations has been the
02:51:56
world's leader and although the United
02:51:58
States has been the world's leader in
02:52:00
science for decades, this president and
02:52:03
the members of his cabinet even failed
02:52:06
to accept scientific facts.
02:52:09
Contrary to article one, section 8 of
02:52:12
the constitution, they do not promote
02:52:14
the progress of science. They suppress
02:52:17
it to the detriment of our health,
02:52:19
well-being, and international
02:52:20
competitiveness. It is a formula for
02:52:23
failure.
02:52:25
How did we get here? It hasn't been one
02:52:28
instance of abuse of the power of
02:52:30
executive order by this president. It
02:52:32
hasn't been just one twist in a court
02:52:35
ruling. Instead, it has been years in
02:52:38
the making. Enabled by this president, a
02:52:41
group of Confederates has worked
02:52:43
together to undo many of our traditions
02:52:45
and understandings of fairness and of
02:52:47
citizens rights. And they've done this
02:52:50
through an odd legal tactic to overwhelm
02:52:53
our court system with legal game after
02:52:56
legal game, trying to hold or impound
02:52:58
money secretly in order to let legal
02:53:00
deadlines pass. to pretend that people
02:53:03
they don't know who or who are from
02:53:05
different backgrounds are somehow not
02:53:07
quite citizens and not worthy of respect
02:53:09
under the law. No thrones, no crowns, no
02:53:13
kings.
02:53:16
Let us now raise our voices. We are here
02:53:19
demanding a return to the rule of law.
02:53:23
Let the world know that we will suffer
02:53:26
no king. We will put the United States
02:53:28
back on a course to lead the world in
02:53:30
fair governance together. No thrones,
02:53:35
no crowns, no kings.
02:53:38
Thank you all. Let's change the world.
02:53:49
Ladies and gentlemen, now please welcome

03:00:57
This idea has been a constant for 249
03:01:01
years since the Declaration of
03:01:04
Independence and the notion made famous
03:01:08
by the Gettysburg address of a
03:01:11
government by for and of the people. Say
03:01:17
it again. By, for and of the people. Now
03:01:22
we know the founders were not perfect
03:01:26
but they had one abiding principle and
03:01:29
that is and was that we as a nation
03:01:33
should never ever again be ruled by a
03:01:38
tyrant or a king.
03:01:42
>> That was as true today as it was back
03:01:47
then. And that is why that is why
03:01:52
millions of people today from all walks
03:01:55
of life are turning out at these
03:01:58
thousands of events. Republicans,
03:02:01
Democrats, independents,
03:02:04
black, brown,
03:02:06
white, this 68year-old
03:02:09
Jewish baby boomer, Muslim small
03:02:13
business owners, Christian Jenzers.
03:02:17
This is as I said, we are the majority
03:02:21
of America.
03:02:23
And what do we want? What do we want? We
03:02:28
want the promise of America for
03:02:30
everyone. We want a voice in our future.
03:02:34
We are standing up in peaceful patriotic
03:02:39
protest just like our founders called
03:02:42
out. No thrones, no crowns, no kings. We
03:02:48
are standing up because we don't want
03:02:50
our streets militarized. We don't want
03:02:53
our neighbors disappeared by masked
03:02:56
agents. We don't want our colleges
03:03:00
forced to sign loyalty os. We don't want
03:03:04
wait what?
03:03:07
>> We don't want public officials arrested
03:03:10
on trumped up political charges.
03:03:14
And this is a little different. We want
03:03:19
our federal government to fix the
03:03:22
healthc care crisis that was created by
03:03:26
the big ugly bill Republicans passed in
03:03:30
July.
03:03:32
We want a president who will keep health
03:03:36
care premiums down, bring down the cost
03:03:39
of groceries and housing, strengthen
03:03:43
public schools, make college affordable,
03:03:46
and embrace workers rights. Again, what
03:03:50
is radical about any of that?
03:03:54
Exactly. We want the president to spend
03:03:58
his time solving our country's problems,
03:04:03
not settling scores with political
03:04:06
opponents.
03:04:10
We want a future that is based on
03:04:13
fairness and justice and the rule of
03:04:17
law, not chaos, corruption, or cruelty.
03:04:23
So, I'm going to end with a couple of
03:04:26
Labor slogans here because my friends,
03:04:30
we are in an existential
03:04:34
fight.
03:04:36
And right now, we all have to organize
03:04:42
and be stronger and bolder because no
03:04:45
one is going to save us but ourselves.
03:04:49
So we got a lot of sayings in labor, but
03:04:54
the first one is when we fight
03:04:58
>> when we fight
03:05:00
>> when we fight.
03:05:03
>> And the second is the people united will
03:05:06
never be defeated. The people united
03:05:11
will never be defeated. The people
03:05:14
united will never be defeated or
03:05:18
divided. Either one is fine. So, are we
03:05:21
united tonight?
03:05:24
>> Will we fight for our democracy?
03:05:26
>> Will we fight for the promise of
03:05:28
America?
03:05:30
>> This is about loving America, right?
03:05:34
>> So, we're sending a clear message to the
03:05:36
president. Rather than smearing those
03:05:39
calling out problems, solve those
03:05:41
problems.
03:05:43
So today no kings, tomorrow freedom.
03:05:47
Today
03:05:48
>> no kings,
03:05:49
>> tomorrow
03:05:50
>> freedom.
03:05:52
>> The masked men to let them go home to
03:05:55
their kids.
03:05:57
Rapid responders and everyday citizens
03:06:00
are being intimidated, beaten,
03:06:03
teargassed simply for recording, for
03:06:07
honking their horns, for blowing a
03:06:10
whistle.
03:06:12
[Music] [Applause]
03:06:15

03:06:16
our families, our dreams, the immigrant
03:06:20
spirit to despite all odds make a better
03:06:23
future for the next generation. It may
03:06:27
feel like it is being crushed, but I am
03:06:31
a dreamer.
03:06:32
[Applause]
03:06:40
I know what it's like to come home when
03:06:43
you are five years old and your dad is
03:06:47
not there.
03:06:49
>> And I am still standing
03:06:52
[Applause]
03:06:57
>> and I am prouder than ever to be an
03:07:00
immigrant and and I commit to continue
03:07:04
to fight. But I need your help.
03:07:07
[Applause]
03:07:11
>> Here's how you can help. Join a rapid
03:07:14
response network. Visit, shop, eat in
03:07:18
our towns, in our neighborhoods. Cero

03:07:32
[Applause]
03:07:36
Donate to our organizations. Donate to
03:07:39
the Resurrection Project. Donate to
03:07:41
ICIR. Donate to OKAD. Buy your whistle
03:07:46
and take it everywhere you go.
03:07:55
>> All of this will help. But we need it to
03:07:59
stop. We need more than help. We need
03:08:02
this to stop. So I am asking you to help
03:08:05
us. Share the videos on social media.
03:08:09
Make sure the world knows what is
03:08:12
happening.
03:08:13
[Music]
03:08:17
Call your members of Congress and tell
03:08:20
them this has to stop.
03:08:23
Talk to your family who voted for Trump
03:08:26
and tell them to call their members of
03:08:29
Congress.
03:08:31
Tell your boss, tell the companies you
03:08:34
work for to take action and say this has
03:08:38
to stop. Public opinion is shifting, but
03:08:42
we have to make it faster.
03:08:44
[Applause]
03:08:49
So now I have a favor to ask. Our people
03:08:54
are at home right now and they are in a
03:08:57
lot of pain. So I'm wondering if you
03:09:00
will repeat after me and send a message
03:09:03
to them.
03:09:04
[Applause]
03:09:06
>> Let's get started. So, dear immigrant,
03:09:10
>> dear immigrant,
03:09:11
>> dear construction worker,
03:09:14
>> dear construction worker,
03:09:16
>> dear tamalera,
03:09:18
>> dear,
03:09:20
>> dear car wash worker,
03:09:22
>> dear car wash worker,
03:09:25
>> dear immigrant mom, dad, grandma,
03:09:28
grandpa,
03:09:29
>> dear immigrant mom, dad, grandma,
03:09:33
grandpa. Dear immigrant friend.
03:09:36
>> Dear immigrant friend.
03:09:38
>> Dear little brown kids.
03:09:40
>> Dear little brown kids.
03:09:43
>> You are loved by your city.
03:09:46
>> You are loved by your city.
03:09:48
>> Chicago loves you.
03:09:51
>> Chicago loves you.
03:09:53
>> We are so sorry this is happening to
03:09:55
you.
03:09:56
>> We are so sorry this is happening to
03:09:59
you. But you have our promise that we
03:10:02
will make it stop.
03:10:04
>> You have our promise that we will make
03:10:07
it stop.
03:10:09
[Music]
03:10:21
Thank you.
03:10:28
[Music]
03:10:34
Thank you. And indeed, our next speaker
03:10:37
has been working to protect all
03:10:38
Chicagoans. He has signed executive
03:10:40
orders to resist these attacks and these
03:10:42
unlawful attacks from the federal
03:10:44
government. Please join me in welcoming
03:10:46
the mayor of the great city of Chicago,
03:10:47
Mayor Brandon Johnson.
03:10:54
[Music] [Applause]
03:10:58
>> Well, are you all ready to defend this
03:11:00
democracy?
03:11:04
>> Are you ready to fight fascism?
03:11:06
[Applause]
03:11:08
>> Are you prepared to destroy
03:11:10
authoritarianism
03:11:12
once and for all?
03:11:15
Now let the world hear you no kings.
03:11:19
>> No kings.
03:11:21
>> Now listen, there are those in this
03:11:24
country that have decided
03:11:28
after the behest of this president to
03:11:30
declare war on Chicago and American
03:11:34
cities across this country.
03:11:37
[Applause]
03:11:41
They have clearly decided that they want
03:11:43
a rematch of the Civil War.
03:11:47
[Applause]
03:11:49
>> But we are here to stand firm,
03:11:53
>> to stand committed,
03:11:54
>> that we will not bend, we will not bow,
03:11:58
we will not cower, we will not submit
03:12:02
to the authority, authoritarianism
03:12:05
that is coming down.
03:12:08
[Music]
03:12:13
I want to make this point emphatically
03:12:15
clear
03:12:17
that the attempt to divide and conquer
03:12:20
this nation will not prevail because
03:12:24
when the people are united, justice
03:12:27
always prevail.
03:12:35
Donald Trump is using ICE as his private
03:12:40
militarized occupying force.
03:12:43
[Applause]
03:12:47
The only other entities that are funded
03:12:50
greater than ICE are the United States
03:12:53
military and China's military. But we
03:12:57
are saying emphatically clear, we do not
03:13:00
want troops in our city. We will not
03:13:03
allow our cities to be occupied.
03:13:09
[Music]
03:13:14
Now, here's the last and final point. We
03:13:17
have to be absolutely clear of not just
03:13:20
what we're fighting for, but what we are
03:13:23
looking to tear down. Donald Trump just
03:13:27
shifted the largest concentration of
03:13:30
upward wealth into the hands of the
03:13:33
ultra rich and large corporations in the
03:13:36
history of this country.
03:13:38
[Applause]
03:13:43
This is a fight for working people
03:13:46
across this country and across this
03:13:49
globe to stand up to billionaires in the
03:13:52
interest of corporations.
03:13:56
[Music]
03:13:59
Now, there are some billionaires and
03:14:02
corporate leaders that want us to have
03:14:04
sympathy for them. And they have just
03:14:06
received the greatest tax cuts at the
03:14:09
expense of healthcare and housing and
03:14:12
education and transportation and good
03:14:15
paying jobs.
03:14:18
So, here's what we need to do in this
03:14:20
moment. If my ancestors as slaves can
03:14:25
lead the greatest general strike in the
03:14:28
history of this country, taken into the
03:14:31
ultra rich and big corporations, we can
03:14:34
do the same today. I'm calling on black
03:14:38
people, white people, brown people,
03:14:41
Asian people, immigrants, gay people
03:14:45
from around this country to stand up
03:14:47
against
03:14:49
a clear message to the under big
03:14:52
corporations. We are going to make them
03:14:55
pay their fair share in taxes to fund
03:14:59
our schools, to fund jobs, to fund
03:15:03
health care, to fund transportation.
03:15:06
Democracy will live on because of this
03:15:09
generation. Are you ready to take it to
03:15:12
the courts and to the streets,
03:15:16
cities around the world, we have
03:15:18
declared that we will defend our
03:15:20
democracy. We will defend our humanity.
03:15:23
We will tear down tyranny. And we will
03:15:25
do it together. God bless you all. God
03:15:28
bless the greatest city in the world.
03:15:30
City of
03:15:35
[Applause]
03:15:40
>> We believe in a country where kids can
03:15:42
get a quality education free from
03:15:44
bullying.
03:15:47
>> Where love is love.
03:15:49
[Music]
03:15:51
where freedom is afforded to all and not
03:15:54
reserved for the wealthy few.
03:15:59
>> That is America at its greatest.
03:16:01
>> That is our Americ.
03:16:05
[Music]
03:16:06
I'm here to say that America does not
03:16:09
and will not ever have a king.
03:16:16
>> The truth is no one rally is going to
03:16:19
save us. No court ruling, no single
03:16:22
election will save us. We have to save
03:16:25
ourselves.
03:16:27
>> We have to build workplaces that are
03:16:29
safe, classrooms that are welcoming,
03:16:33
>> communities where we see each other not
03:16:34
as our enemies, but as our neighbors
03:16:38
>> and we must always resist temptation to
03:16:41
believe only in the worst of this
03:16:43
country. That's what he wants. He wants
03:16:45
us to be defeated. Are we going to be
03:16:47
defeated?
03:16:49
He wants us to be silent. Are we going
03:16:51
to be silent?
03:16:53
>> He wants us to be scared. Are we scared?
03:16:57
>> You know, we have the power to build a
03:16:59
better tomorrow. LGBTQ plus people, we
03:17:02
live in every zip code and are from
03:17:04
every background. We were born here and
03:17:07
we immigrated here. We come from red
03:17:09
families and from blue families.
03:17:11
>> And we are here to say that this is our
03:17:14
America, too.
03:17:19
No one knows that better than my friend
03:17:21
and a tireless public servant who's on
03:17:23
stage with me today. A true patriot who
03:17:26
knows the cost of freedom. I'm proud to
03:17:28
pass the mic to former assistant
03:17:30
secretary of defense for readiness and
03:17:33
our HRC board member Sean Skelly.
03:17:42
>> Good afternoon DC.
03:17:44
[Applause]
03:17:47
As said, I'm Sean, a retired Navy
03:17:49
officer, former assistant secretary of
03:17:51
defense, and I serve on the board of the
03:17:53
human rights
03:17:57
transit
03:17:58
[Music]
03:18:09
gives us. And I score an oath to defend
03:18:12
[Applause]
03:18:15
recently served alongside thousands of
03:18:17
transgender service members who served
03:18:20
with honor, skill, and courage. They
03:18:22
have protected us while their own
03:18:24
commander and chief and secretary of
03:18:26
defense have vilified them and denied
03:18:28
their right to exist.
03:18:33
>> Anyone who serves in uniform deser
03:18:40
[Applause]
03:18:43
these brave Americans because of it
03:18:46
campaign to drive me and all of my
03:18:48
transgender brothers and sisters, out of
03:18:51
our country, out of our society, out of
03:18:54
the protection of our laws and into some
03:18:57
dark, dangerous corner that they are in.
03:19:02
This autocrat can't allow transgender
03:19:05
Americans to serve honorably and
03:19:06
successfully in our military which is
03:19:08
the highest regarded institution in
03:19:10
America when they have chosen all
03:19:13
transgender Americans already some of
03:19:15
the most atrisisk and vulnerable people
03:19:17
in this country to be their autocratic
03:19:20
other to be feared scorned and blamed
03:19:25
because of their shameless lies hateful
03:19:28
lies that they tell about The danger
03:19:30
that trans people supposedly bring to
03:19:33
our society
03:19:36
that the dear leader promises
03:19:43
on their uniform and protect them and
03:19:46
serve at the people we don't even know
03:19:51
[Music]
03:19:52
[Applause]
03:19:53
because generations of Americans have
03:19:56
spent their lives and their family's
03:19:58
future on the promise of a more perfect
03:20:01
union.
03:20:03
>> The order I took 10 times over 35 years
03:20:06
of service in uniform as a civilian
03:20:09
means to every person who ever took it
03:20:12
in good faith and I'm going to quote the
03:20:14
former chairman of the joint chiefs of
03:20:16
staff.
03:20:18
We don't take an oath to a king or a
03:20:20
queen or to a tyrant or dictator. We
03:20:22
don't take to a dictator. We don't take
03:20:25
an oath to an individual. We take an
03:20:28
oath to the
03:20:33
willing to protect it.
03:20:37
>> Put it simply, no kings.
03:20:40
>> No.
03:20:42
>> We demand justice for our transgender
03:20:44
service members. We demand justice and
03:20:46
civil rights for every transgender
03:20:48
American. We demand justice and
03:20:50
democracy for every single American.
03:20:57
>> Thank you.
03:21:10
And now, please welcome to the stage NI
03:21:14
Taylor, executive director of Harriet's
03:21:17
Wildest Dream, and Ka Chatter, executive
03:21:22
director of Free DC.
03:21:25
[Applause]
03:21:34
Welcome to DC.
03:21:38
>> I hear y'all say welcome to DC.
03:21:42
[Applause]
03:21:46
>> I'm Linny T. I'm the co-founder and exe
03:21:49
director of Hers Wilders Dreams named
03:21:52
after our ancestor Harriet Tutman. I'm
03:21:55
also the co-founder of Free DC.
03:22:01
>> I was born and raised right here in
03:22:04
Southeast Washington DC.
03:22:08
[Music]
03:22:09
[Applause]
03:22:11
>> As many of you know, we are in a state
03:22:14
of grief for the Lord of our freedom
03:22:16
fighter Assad Shakur.
03:22:18
>> We honor her life, her courage, and her
03:22:21
teaching.
03:22:23
She told us that we need a revolution
03:22:26
>> of the mind and a revolution of the
03:22:29
heart.
03:22:30
>> These words still leave me
03:22:32
>> because this work begins in how we show
03:22:35
up for one another, how we care for one
03:22:38
another, and how we show up for one
03:22:41
another.
03:22:43
>> Washington DC is a black home.
03:22:48
We come here to Washington DC. That is
03:22:52
what you you came here to Washington DC.
03:22:54
That's what you stepping into. A home
03:22:56
built by black hands,
03:22:58
>> held together by black love
03:23:02
by generations who refuse to leave.
03:23:08
>> The people of DC have been teaching,
03:23:10
protecting, and fighting for this city
03:23:13
long before most of you stop paying
03:23:15
attention.
03:23:17
We have been living and breathing the
03:23:19
consequences of racist policies,
03:23:22
displacement and over policing since
03:23:26
post civil war.
03:23:28
>> We have been demanding and calling for
03:23:30
DC to become a state.
03:23:33
>> We need DC statehood now.
03:23:38
>> DC state now.
03:23:42
>> DC statehood now.
03:23:46
On Monday, our freedom watchers were up
03:23:49
until the up at the DC courts until the
03:23:51
sale block closed 2:00 in the morning.
03:23:54
They were watching hearing after hearing
03:23:57
after hearing of our neighbors being
03:23:59
kidnapped over the weekend.
03:24:02
>> We have 300,000 black women who have
03:24:06
been fired in the last few months.
03:24:10
>> Most of those are federal workers right
03:24:12
here in the district.
03:24:14
>> If we just to lawyers at the Supreme
03:24:17
Court that fixing a system to make it
03:24:19
fair for black people somehow harms
03:24:22
white people.
03:24:26
>> This is what we up against.
03:24:28
>> This is what we're up against.
03:24:32
Black people freedom
03:24:34
is got to be is being threatened by a
03:24:37
failing democracy and has been punched
03:24:40
by white fragile supremacy.
03:24:44
Here,
03:24:45
[Applause]
03:24:47
we have been organizing, protecting, and
03:24:49
building long before came. If you want
03:24:52
help, listen to those
03:24:55
before Trump came in office
03:24:59
to play. Listen to the ground ever since
03:25:04
03:25:07
>> I see all of you right here and y'all
03:25:09
see me.
03:25:11
>> All the applauses and
03:25:14
When you all
03:25:16
to meet, when I call you to meet
03:25:18
impacted black people, where will you
03:25:20
be?
03:25:22
>> Ask yourself, where will you be?
03:25:25
>> Our movements need funding. Where will
03:25:28
you be?
03:25:30
>> When you are invited to teach, to share
03:25:33
your skills, to support, strategize, and
03:25:35
to defend black people in public, where
03:25:39
will you be?
03:25:43
[Music]
03:25:44
about what you do when you are called
03:25:46
forward. Community is responsibility,
03:25:49
structure, and work. It's both the noun
03:25:53
and the word. It's the people and it's
03:25:55
the people in motion. It's how we build
03:25:58
safety for the for each other. It's how
03:26:01
we keep us safe. Who keep us safe?
03:26:06
>> Who keep us safe? We
03:26:08
>> black people have been curing the moral
03:26:10
weight of this world for generations. We
03:26:13
we have stood in the gap for every fight
03:26:16
against oppression from Palestine to
03:26:18
right here in DC because we believe
03:26:22
everyone deserves to be free.
03:26:26
>> We are not free until all of us are
03:26:29
free.
03:26:31
[Music]
03:26:32
[Applause]
03:26:34
taught me once again weapons of mass
03:26:36
destruction and weapons of mass. She
03:26:40
said it's not enough to change the
03:26:41
system. We must change ourselves.
03:26:44
>> That kind of change requires that we
03:26:46
hold the line for one another.
03:26:49
>> Protest black people in public and in
03:26:51
private.
03:26:52
>> I see you. I see your faces just like
03:26:55
you see mine.
03:26:58
>> Will you
03:27:00
see tomorrow? We're going to see you
03:27:01
next month. When more of our rights are
03:27:03
being stripped and when more of our
03:27:05
black bodies are put in cages,
03:27:09
>> don't watch from the shadows. I charge
03:27:11
you. I charge you to be on the front
03:27:14
lines.
03:27:15
>> I charge you to fight and we will not
03:27:18
end with because the day won't end with
03:27:21
this stage. When the stage come down and
03:27:23
the cameas leave and you return home,
03:27:27
the fight for our liberation is not
03:27:32
of the media attention today.
03:27:34
>> The land to free the people and free us
03:27:37
all and free DC. Free DC. Free DC. Free
03:27:42
DC. Free DC.
03:27:47
[Music]
03:27:53
>> All right. My name is Ka Chattery. Thank
03:27:55
you so much, Nene. I am with Nene, one
03:27:58
of the co-founders of Free DC and the
03:28:00
executive director of Free DC. And we
03:28:03
are the movement to protect DC home rule
03:28:06
and win lasting dignity for the 700,000
03:28:10
people of DC.
03:28:12
Let me hear you DC. Who out here is here
03:28:15
today for a free DC?
03:28:18
[Applause]
03:28:23
So DC needs to be free because what we
03:28:25
are doing here today, right now would
03:28:29
not be possible otherwise. This
03:28:32
president wants to silence disscent. He
03:28:36
wants to silence protest. He wants to do
03:28:39
that everywhere and we saw him try to do
03:28:41
that this week.
03:28:43
President Trump and his allies lied
03:28:46
about this very event that we are
03:28:49
attending right now. He tried to get us
03:28:51
all to stay away from here. But did we
03:28:54
do that?
03:28:57
>> Our right to protest is important
03:28:59
everywhere. Really, it is. But there is
03:29:02
nowhere that it is more important than
03:29:04
here in the capital of the country.
03:29:08
We know what authoritarian rulers do.
03:29:12
Authoritarians
03:29:14
they try to prevent dissent in the
03:29:17
capital. They want to control capitals.
03:29:20
They have tried to control capitals
03:29:22
through the history of time and space
03:29:25
because controlling a capital is a way
03:29:27
to control a nation and a way to prevent
03:29:30
the transfer of power. This president is
03:29:34
no different from those of the and we
03:29:36
saw that on January 6th, right? We saw
03:29:39
that and this president started
03:29:42
attacking DC again the day he took
03:29:44
office again. Today we are in our third
03:29:48
month of military occupation by armed
03:29:51
forces from multiple other states in DC.
03:29:56
There are gangs of federal agents who
03:29:59
are attacking our communities. And we've
03:30:02
heard from so many people today that
03:30:04
they've attacked our unhoused neighbors.
03:30:07
They've attacked our immigrant
03:30:08
neighbors. They've attacked black and
03:30:10
brown neighbors. They've attacked our
03:30:12
cultural institutions. They've attacked
03:30:14
thousands of people who serve as federal
03:30:17
workers. They've tried to take over our
03:30:20
local police department. They put a
03:30:23
disgraced Fox News host in charge of our
03:30:26
local prosecutions.
03:30:28
[Applause]
03:30:30
And on top of that, their allies in
03:30:32
Congress are trying to pass dozens of
03:30:35
bills, more than two dozen budget
03:30:38
writers that take away basic rights from
03:30:41
the people who live in the capital of
03:30:44
this country.
03:30:47
>> This president is trying to instill fear
03:30:51
among the people here.
03:30:54
>> Exactly. Exactly. We won't let him. We
03:30:58
know better. than that. We know better
03:31:00
than that. We know what to do, right? We
03:31:02
know what to do. The people of DC are
03:31:05
joyful. If you could see what I see
03:31:08
right now, you would see an amazing
03:31:10
crowd all the way back to the White
03:31:12
House full of joy. The people of DC are
03:31:17
powerful. We We are going to use that
03:31:21
power. We have what it takes here in DC,
03:31:25
not just to resist this tyrant, but to
03:31:28
actually take him out of power and win.
03:31:34
And I I want to say I'm not just talking
03:31:37
about voting. I'm not just talking about
03:31:40
attending rallies. I'm talking about
03:31:42
organizing now like our lives depend on
03:31:45
it.
03:31:51
I'm not just talking about voting. I'm
03:31:54
not just talking about attending
03:31:55
rallies. I'm talking about organizing
03:31:58
now like our lives depend on it.
03:32:03
>> When we act collectively just I mean if
03:32:06
you could see the number of people here
03:32:08
think of all the people in all the other
03:32:09
cities. When we act collectively we have
03:32:12
so much more power than we realize.
03:32:17
As consumers, we can choose to either
03:32:20
fuel the companies that are profiting
03:32:22
off of our oppression or we can starve
03:32:26
those companies.
03:32:30
We have power as jurors.
03:32:33
We have seen that these indictments they
03:32:35
are trying to get, they are failing.
03:32:38
Right? Our people understand the
03:32:40
assignment. We see that this
03:32:41
administration's charges are unjust. We
03:32:45
have power as taxpayers. We are all
03:32:48
right now collectively funding this
03:32:50
regime and we have the power to slow
03:32:53
that down. Right. We know what's on our
03:32:56
license plate here in DC. What's it say?
03:33:01
That's right. And we have power as
03:33:04
community members. we can engage in our
03:33:06
sacred duty to protect one another, to
03:33:09
support one another in solidarity, and
03:33:11
to reject this cruelty agenda that we're
03:33:13
seeing unfold. And if those are things
03:33:15
that you want to be a part of and you
03:33:17
aren't already, come find the free DC
03:33:19
action tents. They're over to the right.
03:33:22
I know it's like so crowded, you can't
03:33:23
even see what I'm where I'm waving here,
03:33:25
but they're in John Marshall Park over
03:33:27
to the right, and you can join the
03:33:28
effort and the power it takes to win. Uh
03:33:31
we're also at free dcproject.org.
03:33:34
What we have seen over the last 10
03:33:35
months is that every single time they
03:33:39
attack us, if we respond, we grow
03:33:42
stronger. Every time they attack us, we
03:33:45
grow more united. We grow our people and
03:33:48
we grow our resolve and we learn what it
03:33:51
takes to take them down. We're building
03:33:53
unity. We're building power. And we are
03:33:55
going to demand full power over our
03:33:58
local money, our DC National Guard, our
03:34:02
local laws. And ultimately, yes, we will
03:34:05
be admitted as the 51st state of the
03:34:08
United States of America. It is not
03:34:10
going to be Canada. It's not going to be
03:34:12
Greenland. It's going to be DC.
03:34:17
And our entire national democracy will
03:34:21
always be at risk until that happens.
03:34:24
until we actually protect the capital of
03:34:27
this country. And that means that
03:34:29
everyone across this country needs a
03:34:32
free DC. From Ward One to W 8, from Los
03:34:37
Angeles to Chicago, from Memphis to
03:34:39
Portland, we are more united now than we
03:34:42
have ever been. We are united against
03:34:45
deploying the military against our
03:34:47
people. We are united against attacks on
03:34:49
our democracy. And we are united against
03:34:51
this agenda of cruelty that we are
03:34:54
seeing unfold before our eyes. Together,
03:34:58
we, the people here today, and all our
03:35:00
friends we organize, we're going to
03:35:02
bring it to an end. Free DC.
03:35:04
>> Free DC.
03:35:06
>> Free DC.
03:35:07
>> Free DC.
03:35:08
>> Free DC.
03:35:10
>> Free DC.
03:35:12
[Applause]
03:35:18
>> Washington DC. Please welcome to the
03:35:20
stage Leah Greenberg and Ezra Leaven,
03:35:24
co-founders of Indivisible.
03:35:27
[Applause]
03:35:32
>> Hi everyone. It's great to be here with
03:35:34
you today. I'm Leah.
03:35:36
>> Hey, I'm Leah's husband.
03:35:39
>> And we are the co-founders of
03:35:40
Indivisible. We support a movement of
03:35:42
thousands of local indivisible groups
03:35:45
organizing in every state of the
03:35:46
country. These are regular who
03:35:49
understand that saving our democracy is
03:35:51
too important to be left to the
03:35:53
politicians and it's going to take all
03:35:55
of us.
03:35:57
[Applause]
03:35:59
>> Now, I've got a question for you. How
03:36:02
many kings do we have in America?
03:36:06
>> That's right. We're in we are in the
03:36:08
middle of a sprint by Donald Trump,
03:36:11
Steven Miller, their mega cronies to
03:36:13
consolidate power and bully American
03:36:16
society into submission.
03:36:21
They have come for corporations and
03:36:22
billionaires, for law firms and
03:36:24
universities, for media and civil
03:36:26
society.
03:36:27
They are ripping families apart and they
03:36:30
are shredding our constitution while
03:36:32
they line their pockets in the biggest
03:36:33
heist of all time.
03:36:38
>> And the way they do it is they go on the
03:36:40
attack. They make demands. They claim
03:36:43
powers they don't have. They bully and
03:36:45
they threaten to retaliate. And they and
03:36:47
they see if anyone will push back. And
03:36:49
if nobody pushes back, they win. And
03:36:52
then they go on to the next attack. They
03:36:55
are doing everything they can to
03:36:56
convince us that they are all powerful,
03:36:59
that they are inevitable, that they will
03:37:00
win. And I need you to hear me. It's a
03:37:04
lie.
03:37:08
It's always been a lie. And the greatest
03:37:11
danger we face is not Trump. It is how
03:37:14
we as a society respond to this
03:37:16
bullying, to this chilling effect. If we
03:37:19
preemptively obey, if we shrink back, if
03:37:22
we make ourselves small, if we do what
03:37:24
they want in advance. Now, we saw we saw
03:37:27
them try this play this week. Mike
03:37:30
Johnson, Steven Miller, their cronies on
03:37:33
Fox News.
03:37:38
They have spent the last week on the
03:37:40
attack against no kings, smearing all of
03:37:43
us.
03:37:44
>> Smearing all of us as anti-American.
03:37:47
They tried
03:37:51
>> they tried to scare us out of gathering
03:37:53
here today.
03:37:54
>> And I've got I've got a question for
03:37:56
you. Are we afraid?
03:37:58
>> No.
03:37:59
>> Did they scare us off?
03:38:01
>> No.
03:38:02
>> Are we going to back down now?
03:38:04
>> No. That's right. Because what we are
03:38:06
doing here today is as American as apple
03:38:08
pie. We are standing up for our rights.
03:38:10
We are standing up for our neighbors. We
03:38:12
are here because we understand.
03:38:20
>> We are here because we understand that
03:38:22
when a tyrant threatens your right to
03:38:23
free speech, you call his bluff and you
03:38:25
stand up.
03:38:27
[Applause]
03:38:29
>> In every action and every day, we defy
03:38:31
the regime.
03:38:34
I've got something to say to Mike
03:38:36
Johnson. Speaker Mike Johnson who spent
03:38:38
all week smearing regular Americans.
03:38:42
There are nearly a dozen no kings
03:38:44
protests happening across your district
03:38:46
today. And
03:38:49
[Applause]
03:38:53
and since you've not been doing your job
03:38:55
for over a month now, I bet you've got
03:38:57
time to stop by.
03:39:00
[Applause]
03:39:01
[Music]
03:39:02
Uh Leah Greenberg, everybody. My god.
03:39:05
Look, Leah is my spouse. She's my
03:39:07
partner. She's the co-executive director
03:39:09
of Indivisible. She's the real strategic
03:39:11
brains behind Indivisible. Uh we are
03:39:14
indebted to her for her strategic
03:39:15
vision. I'm biased, but I think we all
03:39:17
agree. Look, I'm just here to tell a
03:39:20
story, and I think it's important for us
03:39:22
to tell the story of these First
03:39:23
Amendment rights that Leah is talking
03:39:25
about. And this story I want to tell is
03:39:27
about the first No Kings Day. Who here
03:39:30
was at the first No King's Day?
03:39:33
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. No, no. I
03:39:35
don't think y'all were there. This was a
03:39:37
quarter of a millennia ago. This was 250
03:39:40
years ago, 1775. They called it the
03:39:42
Continental Congress. They didn't have
03:39:44
the branding we did, but it was the
03:39:46
first No King's Day protest. What they
03:39:48
did, they brought themselves together in
03:39:51
opposition to this would-be monarchical
03:39:53
ruler who was steamrolling the American
03:39:56
public. He was occupying and invading
03:39:58
American cities. He was terrorizing
03:40:00
American communities. He was picking out
03:40:03
his favorites and persecuting his
03:40:05
political enemies. He didn't believe in
03:40:07
democracy at all. Can you imagine? Can
03:40:09
you imagine such a ruler over America?
03:40:13
It was bleak. It was bleak. So what did
03:40:16
our fellow Americans do? They put
03:40:18
together a no kings rally to give us a
03:40:20
constitution. That's what they did.
03:40:23
That's our history. Whose history?
03:40:26
>> Whose history?
03:40:28
Whose history?
03:40:30
>> Look, this is a big experiment in
03:40:32
self-government. A government of, by,
03:40:33
and for the people. Nobody here is under
03:40:37
the illusion that this was a perfect
03:40:39
union. That's not what we created. This
03:40:41
was a compromise. A compromise of rich
03:40:43
men, of white men, of slaveolding men.
03:40:45
But this imperfect union that they put
03:40:48
together, it also gave us some
03:40:50
fundamental rights to make it more
03:40:51
perfect. Who has been using those
03:40:53
rights? the abolitionist, the
03:40:55
suffragists, the heroes of the civil
03:40:57
rights movement, the leaders at
03:40:59
Stonewall, the leaders in the dreamer
03:41:02
movement, and all of us here, all of us
03:41:05
here.
03:41:06
Whose rights? Our rights. Whose rights?
03:41:11
>> Ben Franklin, that that lovely Benny,
03:41:14
what did he say? Benny told us all when
03:41:18
asked what they had created, he said, "A
03:41:20
republic if you can keep it."
03:41:23
Who's going to keep this?
03:41:25
>> Who's keeping this republic?
03:41:28
>> That's right. We love this country
03:41:30
enough to demand more of it. You know
03:41:31
who doesn't want us to make any demands?
03:41:33
This regime. The tech fascists, the
03:41:36
billionaire backers. They want us lazy
03:41:39
and pliant and docile. They want us
03:41:42
alone and afraid and powerless. Are we
03:41:44
powerless?
03:41:46
>> Are we alone?
03:41:47
>> Damn right we're not. As I stand here
03:41:49
today, Elon Musk, remember that guy?
03:41:52
He's out of the White House. Jimmy
03:41:54
Kimmel back on air. And for the last
03:41:57
week, for the last week, this regime has
03:41:59
been quaking in its jack boots at the
03:42:02
thought of 200,000 people in DC outside
03:42:05
the capital where Mike Johnson isn't
03:42:07
working and hasn't been for the last
03:42:08
month.
03:42:11
You know what it turns out? You know
03:42:13
what it turns out? It turns out that
03:42:15
we're braver than the billionaires.
03:42:18
Who's braver than the billionaires?
03:42:20
Who's braver than the billionaires?
03:42:23
>> This is my favorite part, folks. I get
03:42:25
to name some names. Jeff Bezos, who took
03:42:29
a respected
03:42:31
pro-democracy institution that had the
03:42:34
slogan of democracy dies in the
03:42:36
darkness, and he turned the slogan into
03:42:38
corruption, capitulation, cowardice,
03:42:42
shame.
03:42:45
Respected
03:42:46
pro-democracy institutions that have the
03:42:49
slogan of Democracy dies in the darkness
03:42:51
and he turned the slogan into
03:42:53
corruption, capitulation, cowardice,
03:42:57
>> shame.
03:43:01
This guy in the news, the head of
03:43:02
Salesforce who's welcoming troops into
03:43:05
San Francisco,
03:43:08
begging, begging to give artificial
03:43:12
intelligence to ICE to triple their
03:43:14
size.
03:43:17
>> Zuckerberg. End of story. Need I say
03:43:21
more?
03:43:22
>> But we're not just booing, y'all. We're
03:43:24
not just booing. We're organizing. This
03:43:26
is a movement of everyone in this
03:43:29
country who is taking a side. We are
03:43:31
taking a side. It is a time to choose
03:43:33
that side. Are you on the side of the
03:43:35
MAGA forces, of the Nazis, of the
03:43:37
billionaires?
03:43:39
>> Hell no. So I ask businesses,
03:43:42
universities, churches, which side are
03:43:44
you on?
03:43:45
>> We're on the people's side. Which side?
03:43:49
Look, nobody on this stage has told you
03:43:51
there's no need to have fear. We see
03:43:53
what this regime is doing. We see them
03:43:55
rattling their sabers. We see them
03:43:56
sending troops into communities. We see
03:43:58
them zip tying children and dragging
03:44:00
them out of apartments. We see this this
03:44:03
movement, the 200,000 of us here, this
03:44:07
movement is not a fearless movement.
03:44:08
It's better than that. It's a brave
03:44:09
movement.
03:44:12
The other side wants to suppress
03:44:14
dissent, chill free speech, and come
03:44:17
after their opponents. We're not here
03:44:19
because we're fearless. We're here
03:44:20
because we're better than fear. We're
03:44:22
braver than billionaires. And we're
03:44:24
bigger than ever before.
03:44:27
>> We're going to win this, y'all, because
03:44:29
we believe, as all Americans believe, we
03:44:32
don't do kings here. How many kings?
03:44:35
>> How many kings?
03:44:37
Now, we had a little bit of extra time
03:44:39
in the program and a guy in Vermont with
03:44:41
some ideas about this wanted to come up.
03:44:42
So, let's have him out.
03:44:54
[Applause]
03:44:59
[Music]
03:45:05
Party party.
03:45:16
[Applause]
03:45:17
[Music]
03:45:38
[Applause]
03:45:44
Thank you Washington.
03:45:47
[Applause]
03:45:50
>> Thank you indivisible.
03:45:53
[Applause]
03:45:56
Thank you to the millions of Americans
03:46:00
[Applause]
03:46:06
from our smallest towns to our larger
03:46:10
cities
03:46:12
in every state in our country
03:46:16
who are gathering today at thousands of
03:46:20
rallies.
03:46:25
Mike Johnson,
03:46:30
[Applause]
03:46:31
>> the Republican Speaker of the House,
03:46:36
called these rallies
03:46:38
hate America events.
03:46:44
Boy, does he have it wrong.
03:46:50
Millions of Americans are coming out
03:46:54
today not because they hate America.
03:46:58
We're here because we love America.
03:47:04
[Applause]
03:47:07
We're here because we're going to do
03:47:11
everything we can to honor the
03:47:14
sacrifices
03:47:16
of millions of men and women
03:47:20
who over the last 250
03:47:24
years fought and sometimes died to
03:47:29
defend our democracy and our freedoms.
03:47:33
[Applause]
03:47:37
In 1776,
03:47:41
with extraordinary courage,
03:47:44
the founders of our country announced to
03:47:47
the world that they would no longer be
03:47:50
ruled by the king of England,
03:47:55
>> a king who had absolute power over their
03:47:59
lives. They demanded freedom.
03:48:03
[Applause]
03:48:06
And to bring that about, they fought a
03:48:10
bloody war against the British Empire
03:48:13
and the most powerful military in the
03:48:17
world.
03:48:19
Tens of thousands of Americans
03:48:23
died in that 8-year war.
03:48:26
But our forefathers fought on and they
03:48:30
won.
03:48:33
[Applause]
03:48:36
And in 1789
03:48:39
after winning that war
03:48:42
they did something extraordinary.
03:48:46
They established the first democratic
03:48:49
form of government in modern history.
03:48:53
[Music] [Applause]
03:48:56
They said loudly
03:48:59
and boldly to the entire world,
03:49:03
"No more kings."
03:49:06
[Applause]
03:49:11
>> In America, they said, "We the people
03:49:16
will rule."
03:49:18
[Applause]
03:49:21
>> And today,
03:49:32
And today,
03:49:34
today in the year 2025,
03:49:38
in this dangerous moment in American
03:49:41
history,
03:49:42
our message is exactly the same. No,
03:49:48
President Trump. We don't want you or
03:49:52
any other king to rule us.
03:49:56
[Applause]
03:49:59
>> Thank you very much. But we will
03:50:02
maintain our democratic form of society.
03:50:10
>> We will not move toward authoritarianism
03:50:14
in America. We the people will rule.
03:50:19
[Applause]
03:50:23
>> When he was sworn in as the nation's
03:50:27
first president,
03:50:29
George Washington called this attempt at
03:50:32
self-government quote an experiment
03:50:36
entrusted to the hands of the American
03:50:39
people end quote. My fellow Americans,
03:50:43
in an unprecedented way, that experiment
03:50:48
is now in danger.
03:50:51
It is in danger when we have a president
03:50:54
who wants more and more power in his own
03:50:59
hands and in the hands of his fellow
03:51:03
oligarchs.
03:51:07
It is in danger when we have a president
03:51:11
who claims that peaceful protests in
03:51:14
Portland, Oregon or Chicago, Illinois is
03:51:19
an insurrection
03:51:24
>> and calls in the US military
03:51:30
>> and then threatens to arrest the mayors
03:51:33
and governors who resist. system.
03:51:39
It is in danger when we have masked
03:51:41
agents working for ICE, breaking down
03:51:44
doors, throwing people into vans without
03:51:49
due process, and taking them to god
03:51:52
knows where.
03:51:57
It is in danger when we have a president
03:52:00
who sues and intimidates the media, who
03:52:04
wants no criticism of him and his
03:52:08
policies, and who undermines the first
03:52:12
amendment of our constitution, the very
03:52:15
foundation of American democracy.
03:52:22
Our country is in danger when we have a
03:52:25
president who threatens to arrest or
03:52:29
imprison political opponents who stand
03:52:33
against him,
03:52:37
including the attorney general of New
03:52:39
York State, a sitting US senator, and
03:52:42
the governor of California.
03:52:47
It is in danger when we have a president
03:52:50
who undermines freedom of thought and
03:52:53
dissent at our colleges and universities
03:52:56
[Applause]
03:52:59
and who attacks law firms that oppose
03:53:02
him in court.
03:53:06
>> It is in danger when we have a president
03:53:09
who threatens to impeach judges who rule
03:53:13
against him.
03:53:15
[Applause]
03:53:17
It is in danger when we have a president
03:53:20
who ignores Congress, refuses to spend
03:53:24
money that Congress appropriates, and
03:53:26
takes away money from states who voted
03:53:31
against him.
03:53:33
When we have a president who ignores
03:53:36
Congress, refuses to spend money that
03:53:39
Congress appropriates, and takes away
03:53:42
money from states who voted against him.
03:53:51
It is in danger when we have a president
03:53:54
who illegally fires tens of thousands of
03:53:58
federal employees right here in
03:54:01
Washington DC
03:54:04
and throughout our country and rips up
03:54:07
union contracts that workers have fought
03:54:11
for and won.
03:54:15
It is in danger when we have a president
03:54:18
who grossly violates the constitution by
03:54:22
accepting gifts from foreign leaders,
03:54:28
including a $400
03:54:31
million plane from the royal family of
03:54:35
Qatar
03:54:36
[Music] [Applause]
03:54:38
and then allows that family to build an
03:54:41
air force facility at Idaho.
03:54:47
>> But let us be clear,
03:54:50
this moment is not just about one man's
03:54:54
greed,
03:54:56
one man's corruption, or one man's
03:54:59
contempt for the Constitution.
03:55:02
This is about a handful of the
03:55:05
wealthiest people on earth who in their
03:55:09
insatiable greed have hijacked our
03:55:12
economy and our political system in
03:55:16
order to enrich themselves at the
03:55:19
expense of working families throughout
03:55:22
this country.
03:55:23
[Applause]
03:55:27
>> Yes. Yeah, I am talking about Elon Musk.
03:55:32
[Applause]
03:55:34
Jeff Bezos,
03:55:37
>> Mark Zuckerberg,
03:55:40
>> and the other multi-billionaires
03:55:42
who were sitting right behind Trump when
03:55:46
he was inaugurated. Remember that?
03:55:49
The very same billionaires who funded
03:55:52
his campaign, who have bestowed gifts
03:55:55
upon him, and who have in see have seen
03:56:00
huge increases in their wealth and power
03:56:04
since Trump took office.
03:56:09
>> Yeah. Yes. I am talking about the
03:56:12
insanity of one person, Mr. the Musk
03:56:17
owning more wealth than the bottom 52%
03:56:23
of American households.
03:56:29
I'm talking about the incredible
03:56:31
injustice of the top 1% in America now
03:56:37
owning more wealth than the bottom 93%.
03:56:43
[Applause]
03:56:45
I'm talking about the richest people in
03:56:48
America becoming much, much richer while
03:56:52
60%
03:56:54
of our people live paycheck to paycheck,
03:56:58
struggling every day to pay their rent
03:57:01
and mortgages, pay for child care and
03:57:04
education, pay for their health care and
03:57:07
prescription drugs, afford decent
03:57:11
quality food for their kids, and maybe
03:57:14
just maybe put aside a few bucks for
03:57:17
their retirements.
03:57:19
I am talking about our nation,
03:57:23
the richest country in the history of
03:57:26
the world, having the highest rate of
03:57:30
childhood and senior poverty of almost
03:57:34
any major country on earth.
03:57:40
I am talking about our great nation
03:57:44
having 85 million Americans uninsured or
03:57:49
underinsured
03:57:51
and 800,000
03:57:53
people who are homeless, including
03:57:57
people a few blocks from here.
03:58:02
All the while, while Mr. Musk is on his
03:58:07
way to becoming a trillionaire.
03:58:11
[Applause]
03:58:14
I am talking about the incredible danger
03:58:18
of the richest people in this country
03:58:21
pouring hundreds of billions of dollars
03:58:25
into artificial intelligence and
03:58:28
robotics which in the next decade will
03:58:32
decimate tens of millions of jobs for
03:58:35
the American working class.
03:58:40
I'm talking about a billionaire class
03:58:44
who believe that they have the divine
03:58:48
right to rule
03:58:51
and who not only want massive tax breaks
03:58:55
for themselves but who reject any form
03:58:59
of accountability or checks on their
03:59:02
power.
03:59:07
My fellow Americans,
03:59:09
we rejected the divine right of kings in
03:59:13
the 1770s.
03:59:15
We will not accept the divine right of
03:59:20
oligarchs today.
03:59:22
[Applause]
03:59:33
And now let's take a look brief look
03:59:37
at where we are today. Where we are
03:59:39
today on the 18th day of a government
03:59:43
shutdown which is depriving millions of
03:59:47
federal employees of the paychecks they
03:59:50
desperately need and deserve.
03:59:56
Let me cut to the chase and tell you
03:59:59
exactly what this shutdown is all about.
04:00:04
as a result of Trump's big, beautiful,
04:00:08
disgraceful bill
04:00:13
which made massive cuts to Medicaid and
04:00:16
the Affordable Care Act,
04:00:19
15
04:00:21
million 15 million lowincome and
04:00:26
workingclass Americans are going to lose
04:00:29
the health care they desperately need to
04:00:33
stay alive.
04:00:34
[Applause]
04:00:36
[Music]
04:00:38
>> Studies suggest that when you throw
04:00:41
those 15 million people off of the
04:00:44
health care they presently have,
04:00:48
50,000
04:00:49
of them will die unnecessarily
04:00:53
every single year.
04:00:57
[Applause]
04:00:59
50,000
04:01:01
Americans will die unnecessarily
04:01:05
every single year.
04:01:07
>> That's not all. As a result of that same
04:01:10
terrible piece of legislation,
04:01:13
over 20 million Americans are going to
04:01:15
see on average a doubling of their
04:01:18
health insurance premiums through the
04:01:20
Affordable Care Act.
04:01:25
In my state of Vermont, just the other
04:01:27
day, people received notices from
04:01:29
insurance companies that their health
04:01:32
care premiums, in some cases, would
04:01:35
triple or quadruple.
04:01:40
And that is going on all over the
04:01:43
country. At a time when we already pay
04:01:47
by far the highest prices in the world
04:01:51
for health care, millions of Americans
04:01:55
are going to see outrageous increases in
04:01:58
their health care premiums which they
04:02:01
cannot afford.
04:02:06
And why is that happening?
04:02:09
Why are the Republicans
04:02:11
making a broken health care system, a
04:02:15
dysfunctional health care system, even
04:02:17
worse? Why are they bringing our health
04:02:22
care system to the verge of collapse?
04:02:27
>> We all know the answer.
04:02:30
We all know the answer. It was to give a
04:02:34
trillion dollars in tax breaks to Mr.
04:02:38
Musk, Mr. Bezos, Mr. Zuckerberg, Mr.
04:02:42
Ellison, and the rest of the 1%.
04:02:49
$1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid and the
04:02:52
ACA, a trillion dollar in tax breaks for
04:02:57
the 1%.
04:03:01
That, my fellow Americans, is what this
04:03:05
shutdown is all about.
04:03:08
And let me be as clear as I can be.
04:03:13
No, I will not vote for a budget that
04:03:17
throws 15 million Americans off their
04:03:20
healthcare.
04:03:22
[Applause]
04:03:29
No, I will not vote for a budget that
04:03:32
doubles premiums for 20 million
04:03:35
Americans.
04:03:39
>> No, I will not vote for a budget that
04:03:42
forces nursing homes, rural hospitals,
04:03:46
community health centers to lay off
04:03:48
staff and close their doors throughout
04:03:50
this country.
04:03:54
all to give huge tax breaks to the
04:03:58
billionaire class.
04:04:01
[Applause]
04:04:02
>> So today, right now, I say to my
04:04:06
Republican colleagues, come back from
04:04:10
your month-long vacation.
04:04:18
Start negotiating and do not allow the
04:04:22
American health care system to be
04:04:26
destroyed. End this shutdown.
04:04:30
[Applause]
04:04:36
>> My fellow Americans,
04:04:39
we are the greatest country in the
04:04:42
history of the world. And when we stand
04:04:45
together and don't allow demagogues to
04:04:49
divide us up,
04:04:52
there is nothing that we cannot
04:04:56
accomplish.
04:04:57
[Applause]
04:05:01
>> Yes.
04:05:03
Yes. We can create a vibrant democracy
04:05:07
by ending Citizens United and not
04:05:10
allowing billionaires to buy elections.
04:05:18
Yes, we can join the rest of the
04:05:21
industrialized world and guarantee
04:05:24
health care to every man, woman, and
04:05:26
child as a human right.
04:05:29
[Applause]
04:05:33
We can build millions of units of
04:05:36
lowincome and affordable housing and
04:05:39
allow our younger generation to enjoy
04:05:43
the American dream and own a home of
04:05:46
their own.
04:05:50
Yes, we can make public colleges and
04:05:54
universities tuitionfree
04:05:57
[Applause]
04:06:00
>> and have the best child care and public
04:06:03
school system in the entire world.
04:06:10
Yes, we can expand Social Security so
04:06:14
that every senior in our country can
04:06:17
retire with dignity.
04:06:22
>> Yes, we can raise the minimum wage to a
04:06:26
living wage
04:06:30
>> and guarantee every worker the right to
04:06:33
join a union.
04:06:38
Yes, we can lead the world in
04:06:41
transforming our energy system away from
04:06:45
fossil fuels and create millions of good
04:06:48
jobs as we save the planet.
04:06:51
[Applause]
04:06:53
Yes, we can guarantee that every woman
04:06:58
in this country has the right to control
04:07:01
her own body.
04:07:09
Yes. Yes. We can have a foreign policy
04:07:14
that guarantees that never again will
04:07:17
American taxpayer dollars be used to
04:07:20
starve children in Gaza or any place
04:07:24
else.
04:07:29
[Applause]
04:07:30
And now let me let me raise a question
04:07:34
that I have been asked over and over
04:07:36
again. You know, Bernie, great ideas,
04:07:39
but how you going to pay for them? Great
04:07:42
question. Thanks for asking.
04:07:46
And here is the answer.
04:07:48
At a time when the wealthiest people in
04:07:51
America have never ever had it so good.
04:07:57
>> At a time when billionaires are paying
04:08:00
an effective tax rate lower than a truck
04:08:03
driver or a nurse. Yes, the top 1% and
04:08:09
large profitable corporations will pay
04:08:13
their fair share in taxes.
04:08:18
[Applause]
04:08:23
My fellow Americans,
04:08:26
the establishment,
04:08:28
including the corporate media and many
04:08:31
of my colleagues in Congress, want you
04:08:35
to believe that you are powerless.
04:08:39
They want you to believe that you cannot
04:08:42
change the status quo.
04:08:46
But that is a lie.
04:08:49
>> Throughout the history of our country,
04:08:52
when Americans have stood up and fought
04:08:55
for justice, they have prevailed.
04:09:03
>> When the founders stood up to King
04:09:06
George,
04:09:08
they were told it was impossible, but
04:09:11
they won.
04:09:13
[Applause]
04:09:16
When abolitionists fought to end
04:09:18
slavery,
04:09:20
they were told it was impossible. But
04:09:24
they won.
04:09:28
>> When workers organized to form unions
04:09:31
and stood up to their bosses, they were
04:09:34
told it was impossible, but they won.
04:09:38
[Music]
04:09:40
When women demanded the right to vote,
04:09:43
they were told it was impossible. But
04:09:46
they won.
04:09:50
>> When black Americans fought to end
04:09:52
segregation, they were told it was
04:09:55
impossible, but they won.
04:10:00
>> When the LGBT community stood up for
04:10:04
their rights, they were told it was
04:10:06
impossible. But they won.
04:10:11
>> Brothers and sisters, they did it then.
04:10:15
We can and will do it now.
04:10:22
>> And how do I know?
04:10:25
How do I know that we will succeed? Take
04:10:29
a look at this huge crowd right here in
04:10:33
our nation's capital.
04:10:39
It's not just here, as I understand it.
04:10:41
Today, October 18th, 2025,
04:10:46
there are more people out on the streets
04:10:49
in more communities all over our country
04:10:53
than we have ever seen in American
04:10:56
history.
04:11:03
Brothers and sisters, this is not the
04:11:06
end. This is just the beginning
04:11:09
[Applause]
04:11:16
>> together.
04:11:17
When we stand united, when we don't
04:11:20
allow Trump or anybody else to divide us
04:11:23
up by the color of our skin or where we
04:11:26
were born or our sexual orientation,
04:11:29
when we stand together, we will create
04:11:33
the kind of nation that you and I know
04:11:36
we can become,
04:11:43
and will
04:11:45
create a nation
04:11:47
devoted to freedom, justice and
04:11:50
democracy. Thank you all very much.
