The protest movement expanded. There02:48:56
were protests around the country and the02:48:58
war was ended. We are protesting in the02:49:03
same fashion today.02:49:10

the stakes are higher. Rather than02:49:15
abandoning a war against an elusive,02:49:17
perhaps sometimes imaginary foe, we are02:49:20
confronting the possible end of our02:49:22
republic. We are here to tell our02:49:25
lawmakers that what's going on in our02:49:27
government is wrong. They must stop the02:49:31
abuses of this petulent president and02:49:33
his circle of sycopants. No thrones,02:49:37
no crowns,02:49:39
no kings.02:49:47
This president and his associates cannot02:49:49
tolerate dissent. To them, our free02:49:52
speech is frightening. They are02:49:54
arresting people and denying due process02:49:57
in courts. They've tried to silence02:49:59
television hosts. They're trying to fire02:50:02
our indict civil servants, prosecutors,02:50:06
judges, even their own cabinet members.02:50:10
But in this land, these sorts of actions02:50:13
are not new. In 1776, our ancestors had02:50:17
had enough. They declared independence02:50:20
from a king by means of a document02:50:23
stored safely right over there on02:50:25

Although it was conceived 249 years ago,02:50:34
the Declaration of Independence02:50:37
describes a train of abuses02:50:40
connected with an absolute authority. A02:50:42
king with absolute power, no thrones, no02:50:47
crowns, no kings.02:50:50

Their king had refused to honor the law.02:50:56
Their king had refused to let lawmakers02:50:58
be elected. The king had made court02:51:01
judges dependent on his will. They cited02:51:04
the king sending quote swarms of02:51:07
officers to harass our people. Their02:51:09
language referred to quote cruelty and02:51:12
faithlessness scarcely paralleled in the02:51:14
most barbarous of ages. Their king was02:51:17
trying to quote render the military02:51:19
independent and superior to civil power.02:51:23
Our founders even centured King George02:51:26
for cutting off trade with all parts of02:51:29
the world.02:51:31
Do these actions sound familiar?02:51:35

States has been the world's leader in02:52:00
science for decades, this president and02:52:03
the members of his cabinet even failed02:52:06
to accept scientific facts.02:52:09
Contrary to article one, section 8 of02:52:12
the constitution, they do not promote02:52:14
the progress of science. They suppress02:52:17
it to the detriment of our health,02:52:19
well-being, and international02:52:20
competitiveness. It is a formula for02:52:23

How did we get here? It hasn't been one02:52:28
instance of abuse of the power of02:52:30
executive order by this president. It02:52:32
hasn't been just one twist in a court02:52:35
ruling. Instead, it has been years in02:52:38
the making. Enabled by this president, a02:52:41
group of Confederates has worked02:52:43
together to undo many of our traditions02:52:45
and understandings of fairness and of02:52:47
citizens rights. And they've done this02:52:50
through an odd legal tactic to overwhelm02:52:53
our court system with legal game after02:52:56
legal game, trying to hold or impound02:52:58
money secretly in order to let legal02:53:00
deadlines pass. to pretend that people02:53:03
they don't know who or who are from02:53:05
different backgrounds are somehow not02:53:07
quite citizens and not worthy of respect02:53:09
