00:00:00
This one chart really says it better than anything.
00:00:03
If you look at this, this is great.
00:00:05
But this chart is pretty amazing right here.
00:00:16
All new numbers. Okay.
00:00:21
Though I do have to ask the question of whether or not the suit
00:00:24
that Donald Trump wore on Friday is from the Banana Republic.
00:00:27
Because when you fire a lifelong bureaucrat whose mere job is
00:00:32
to count the numbers, count the numbers, count the number of jobs,
00:00:36
this is not a partizan position.
00:00:38
This, to me, is the worst of Donald Trump.
00:00:41
That gets at the conspiracy theories, the idea that the 2020 election
00:00:44
was stolen when clearly it wasn't.
00:00:46
These job numbers weren't flubbed.
00:00:47
This is a reaction to Donald Trump's tariffs
00:00:50
that, at least in the near term, at least, the job market did not necessarily like.
00:00:54
I do a lot of things as president.
00:00:55
The presidency is vested in enormous powers.
00:00:58
But just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do something.
00:01:02
And in this particular case, I am somebody who studies stats.
00:01:06
And you know, I give Donald Trump, I think, a very fair shake.
00:01:09
I give all sides, I think, a pretty fair shake.
00:01:10
But it is reliant on the numbers being reliable.
00:01:14
And when you make moves like this, you see a little bit of doubt that the
00:01:17
numbers going forward with whomever is put in charge of the BLS all of a sudden,
00:01:22
at least in terms of the numbers, that they are, not nearly what they should be.
00:01:25
But I will say, you know, Harry Enten, he said that and included loathe, I believe.
00:01:29
But he also said, was Trump wearing a Banana Republic suit on Friday
00:01:33
because firing the BLS head because you don't like the jobs number
00:01:36
is the worst of Donald Trump.
00:01:38
It's the conspiracy theory laden part of Trump, a la the 2020 election.
00:01:42
And I would argue that Trump's most lasting impact, or his biggest influence,
00:01:47
has been on Americans ability to actually
00:01:52
know what is true and what is honest.
00:01:55
And that starts with the big lie of 2020, with nearly 6 in 10 Republicans believing.
00:01:59
The Big Lie 2016.
00:02:00
No, it's a nice try. I know you guys are trying to rehab this.
00:02:03
- It's not going to work your rehab. - So four years ago.
00:02:05
Nearly 60% of Republicans think that Joe Biden was not legitimately elected to be
00:02:10
president, and Donald Trump is actually in the midst of what would be his third term.
00:02:14
When you get a Bureau of Labor report, which was all well and good two months ago
00:02:18
when you did like the number, and then you fire that person,
00:02:21
that's authoritarian stuff.
00:02:22
And that tells people that you can't trust the numbers.
00:02:24
You can't trust anyone who works in government.
00:02:26
He threatens news outlets for coverage he doesn't like.
00:02:28
Look what CBS just has to do.
00:02:30
The assaults on academic freedom, on law firms who represent people
00:02:34
that he doesn't like.
00:02:35
And then just the straight up lying about what is in the legislation with
00:02:40
the reconciliation bill and the millions that will lose their Medicaid coverage.
00:02:43
And before you say something, Jesse, about how that's not true, it's just able bodied
00:02:47
people who don't want to go to work.
00:02:48
Your favorite senator? Second tier, maybe.
00:02:51
Josh me again. That was good.
00:02:53
Imitation of him is good.
00:02:55
- Yeah, I kind of got. - A double chin.
00:02:57
Now it's more smoke anyway.
00:02:58
Millions are going to lose their health insurance because of that bill.
00:03:02
And Donald Trump looks you in the eye through the camera
00:03:05
and he says it's not true.
00:03:07
The war on truth is his lasting legacy.
00:03:10
Donald Trump's policies are so unpopular in his second term,
00:03:13
is collapsing so fast that there's no real way for anybody to spin it anymore.
00:03:17
Not even on Fox News.
00:03:19
Congressman, Americans largely disapprove of the economic policies
00:03:25
of this president.
00:03:26
At least right now. 55% say they disapprove of his job
00:03:30
on the economy. 45, 44% approve.
00:03:33
Can you explain those numbers?
00:03:36
Well, I think a lot of people are seeing higher prices.
00:03:39
I'm in the our family is in the construction business,
00:03:41
and we get a lot of our timber from Canada and other countries.
00:03:44
Yes, it's higher.
00:03:45
Steel prices are up, but it's for the good of the country.
00:03:48
And should we expect high prices for a short time?
00:03:53
Yes. But overall we couldn't keep going the way we were going.
00:03:56
The cancer in this country was letting other countries rule the day and,
00:04:00
and tax our products.
00:04:02
And why should we run a deficit every month?
00:04:04
And that's why this president is doing such a good job.
00:04:07
And you can't go on, you know, poll numbers vary.
00:04:11
They they come up, they go down.
00:04:13
But the bottom line is he's doing the right thing
00:04:16
and it couldn't come at a better time.
00:04:17
And it things will get better here.
00:04:19
Congressman Ralph Norman, Republican of South Carolina,
00:04:22
thanks for coming on today.
00:04:23
And, you know, when you say take a look at numbers, I just saw some some charts.
00:04:30
These are different cities throughout the world.
00:04:33
Red is okay.
00:04:36
The red is a place called Washington, D.C..
00:04:39
Look at these. Baghdad is.
00:04:45
We doubled up on Baghdad, Panama City,
00:04:50
Brasilia, San Jose, Costa Rica, Bogota,
00:04:54
Colombia, heavy drugs, Mexico City.
00:04:58
I mentioned Lima, Peru, all double and triple what they are.
00:05:05
So do you want to live in places like that?
00:05:08
I don't think so. I don't think so.
00:05:10
And I think the people in this room, if you wrote correctly, you'd say,
00:05:13
look at the kind of numbers we have.
00:05:15
D.C. 41 per 100,000.
00:05:20
Number one that we can find anywhere in the world.
00:05:23
Other cities are pretty bad, but they're not as bad as that.
00:05:28
That way you want to live. The reporters of the world.
00:05:33
Juvenile offenders and crimes against persons.
00:05:37
As they say. It's getting worse.
00:05:41
Not getting better. It's getting worse.
00:05:44
And we had a recent indication, and there
00:05:49
was a story about a man who was just left.
00:05:54
He quit because he was asked to do phony numbers on crime.
00:05:58
And we're going to look into that.
00:05:59
I think Pam is going to be looking into that.
00:06:02
But he was asked by the city, I guess we don't want to show the real numbers.
00:06:07
Let me do numbers.
00:06:08
So it looks like it's going down, not going down.
00:06:10
The disconnection of President Trump from facts and reality.
00:06:16
Today. He has been having problems with numbers and call it Trump math.
00:06:20
President Trump has been creating his own equations when it comes to jobs numbers,
00:06:24
poll numbers, citing fake numbers to justify actions, ignoring real ones
00:06:28
that go against his narrative.
00:06:29
Everything the president said to justify her firing.
00:06:32
To argue she was politically biased was wrong.
00:06:35
The pre-election jobs report was bad.
00:06:38
The post-election revision went up, and he's relying on these lies
00:06:42
to take serious actions,
00:06:44
which also provides some insight for us as to how the president justifies
00:06:48
continuing with policies such as tariffs that are not popular
00:06:53
with a broad swath of the American people.
00:06:57
I have the best poll numbers I've ever had.
00:06:59
I have poll numbers where I'm 71%. I have the best poll numbers.
00:07:03
Those are among among Republicans. You know, you've got.
00:07:07
No, no, no. Among Republicans, 94 and 95%.
00:07:11
Your haters cite polls that have you down in the 30s, Mr. President.
00:07:15
- Yeah, but. - They're fake poll.
00:07:17
So there is no serious scientific poll ever that has shown President Trump
00:07:24
with an approval rating in the 70s just doesn't exist.
00:07:29
Nor does he have an approval rating of almost 100% among Republicans,
00:07:33
as he claims, although his approval rating with Republicans is high.
00:07:36
The latest CNN poll of polls, which provides an average
00:07:39
of the most recent major polls, shows that Trump's approval rating is at 41%.
00:07:45
So the president doesn't know that.
00:07:49
And that's indicative of a huge disconnect with the impressions and opinions of the
00:07:55
public, of the nation that he is leading.
00:07:58
Now, the president must know this to a degree, because anticipating losses
00:08:02
in the House of Representatives in next year's midterms,
00:08:05
he is now pushing Texas to gerrymander five additional Republican House seats.
00:08:10
And here's how he tried to justify that.
00:08:12
This morning I got the highest vote in the history of Texas, as you probably know,
00:08:18
and we are entitled to five more seats.
00:08:21
Here's what I was looking at 3.1% on the year over year core.
00:08:28
Definitely hotter than expected.
00:08:30
It's hotter than the rear view mirror at 2.93.1 would equal February.
00:08:35
The high reading of the year was 3.3 in January, and that was the highest
00:08:40
since May of last year.
00:08:42
So if I look at the data on the month over month basis exactly as expected,
00:08:47
if I look at the year over year, obviously we got a little bit warm on the core.
00:08:51
Donald Trump, as we all know, has no real understanding
00:08:54
of anything but swindle and con, but he has no real understanding of his policies.
00:08:59
Anyway, he signed the big beautiful bill into into law
00:09:03
and kept talking over and over again.
00:09:04
How about it doesn't touch Medicaid now?
00:09:07
Either he's lying or he doesn't know what's in his bill.
00:09:10
He doesn't know what's actually going on out here in the economy.
00:09:12
Because anytime there's any types of polls that show he's losing popularity,
00:09:16
he says like, no, no, no, I'm.
00:09:18
Doing better than I ever have.
00:09:20
Donald Trump's polling numbers are better than they've ever been before.
00:09:23
As if he really believes that.
00:09:25
So again, either he's lying or he really believes it.
00:09:27
But you gotta remember that people who work around him
00:09:30
keep that type of information in his face.
00:09:33
Otherwise he basically throws tantrums and collapses.
00:09:35
He can't handle it.
00:09:36
So he's isolated himself into this bubble where he thinks that all
00:09:41
this fake data points are true.
00:09:43
This guy on TV talking about some well, I know it's his tariffs
00:09:47
are hurting the economy right now.
00:09:49
But it's good for its overall good for the country.
00:09:52
But Donald Trump doesn't understand the trade deficits because we have
00:09:56
way more people here in this country.
00:09:58
We're a consumer economy and we live in a world trade economy.
00:10:01
So yeah, we're going to have deficits because we buy things
00:10:05
from other countries more because we have more money and we have more people.
00:10:09
Like that's it's not more complicated than that.
00:10:11
But Donald Trump doesn't understand these basic things, and he's the president
00:10:15
of the United States.
00:10:16
So he puts these tariffs on all of these products.
00:10:19
Prices go up. The 99 cent can, Arizona cent can.
00:10:23
That's been the same stable price for decades that's now under threat because
00:10:28
of Donald Trump's aluminum tariffs.
00:10:30
I mean he's just throwing tariffs on absolutely everything.
00:10:32
This is going to be for the good of the country.
00:10:34
But it's not because he's an idiot.
