The following program is a collection of
00:03:35
students talking about happenings in the
00:03:37
sports world. It is meant to be comedic,
00:03:40
informative. The opinions expressed on
00:03:42
this show do not necessarily reflect the
00:03:45
beliefs of their peers, their boss, or
00:03:48
ESPN. There may be some cuss words
00:03:51
because that's how humans in the real
00:03:53
world talk. If you are a young, please
00:03:55
seek permission before watching any
00:03:57
further.
00:04:01
>> Hey,
00:04:03
let's go.
00:04:06
This show stinks and the fact that you
00:04:08
listen, we are very, very thankful for

00:04:29
Hello beautiful people and welcome to
00:04:32
our humble abode. The Thunderdome on
00:04:34
this NFL week 2 kickoff Thursday
00:04:37
September 11th 2025. This program begins
00:04:40
now.
00:04:42
Football
00:04:43
>> is happening on this September 11th
00:04:45
2025. And I am an old man and I happen
00:04:48
to be uh at an age of you know memory
00:04:52
and remembering whatever September 11th
00:04:54
2001 took place 24 years ago. I was in
00:04:57
high school and obviously it was a
00:04:58
devastating day. It was a crazy day. It
00:05:00
changed this world mightily. Uh not just
00:05:02
here but obviously around the globe as a
00:05:05
whole. And what I remember about that,
00:05:07
and we will never forget all the lives
00:05:09
that were lost and all the badasses that
00:05:11
ran towards uh fire and buildings
00:05:13
collapsing and the heroes that stepped
00:05:16
up amongst us in the middle of the crazy
00:05:18
terrible chaos that was taking place in
00:05:20
our biggest city. And then I'm from
00:05:22
Pittsburgh. There was a plane that went
00:05:23
down outside of our city. And then
00:05:25
obviously the Pentagon had a plane hit
00:05:27
it as well. And it was just a bunch of
00:05:28
news and it was crazy. I don't think any
00:05:30
of us fully understood what was
00:05:31
happening. But I do remember on
00:05:33
September 12th, 2001, it felt like our
00:05:35
entire country, no matter what you
00:05:37
believed, no matter where you were from,
00:05:39
we were all together as one. We're
00:05:41
unified more than I think I've ever
00:05:42
witnessed in my entire 38 years of
00:05:46
existing. And I think that is something
00:05:47
that a lot of people that were able to
00:05:49
live through it who, you know, believe
00:05:50
in the good of people instead of the bad
00:05:52
of people, we hope that we'll be able to
00:05:54
get to that level of unification in our
00:05:57
society at some point. Yet again, it's
00:05:59
almost like we're chasing that in hopes
00:06:01
that we can be uh, you know, I don't
00:06:03
want to say everybody has to get along
00:06:04
and everybody has to agree, but at least
00:06:06
we can move forward without hating each
00:06:07
other, which is seemingly what social
00:06:09
media has done to us in a way that I
00:06:12
don't know if anybody could have
00:06:13
predicted whenever we thought that the
00:06:14
entire world should be connected in the
00:06:16
palm of their hands. Now, it feels like
00:06:18
there's a lot of people that get
00:06:19
satisfaction as being known as the most
00:06:21
something, the most this, the most that.
00:06:24
And uh whenever people try to compete on
00:06:27
who's the meanest to the other side of
00:06:29
the aisle, I think you're going to
00:06:30
inevitably run into some chaos happening
00:06:32
in our world. And I am not a politics
00:06:34
person. I've been dropped into the
00:06:36
political world a couple different times
00:06:37
by my own mistakes, but also because of
00:06:39
my own opinions. And um it's it's a
00:06:43
blender over there. and to be a person
00:06:46
that wants to go in and stand on your
00:06:48
beliefs and try to change the world and
00:06:51
have the courage to do so and also
00:06:53
welcome and embrace debate in that world
00:06:56
with how much anger there is. I think is
00:06:58
a pretty admirable trait to have. So
00:07:01
although I did not know Charlie Kirk, I
00:07:02
certainly saw his clips from afar. I
00:07:04
thought he was a crazy person for
00:07:07
embracing and welcoming the interactions
00:07:10
that he wanted on the topics that he
00:07:12
believed so mightily in. But I also
00:07:14
believe that he believed in what he was
00:07:16
doing was making the world better. And I
00:07:18
think the people that are willing to
00:07:20
hear the other side and maybe extend a
00:07:22
hand and maybe change their own opinion
00:07:23
are the people that we should be
00:07:24
modeling ourselves after. I am not
00:07:26
always right. I am a doofus. I am an
00:07:28
idiot that talks about sports, but I
00:07:30
love hearing other people's ideas on
00:07:32
things. Now, I am not in the politics
00:07:34
world, and I know there's much more
00:07:35
serious things out there, but in the
00:07:36
sports lane that I live in, it is nice
00:07:38
to hear the other side. So, when I
00:07:40
learned of Charlie Kirk on the internet,
00:07:41
and once again, I did not meet him. I
00:07:43
did not owe him personally. I thought it
00:07:45
was admirable to hear somebody who was
00:07:46
so firm in their own beliefs but wanted
00:07:48
to hear why other people were against
00:07:50
him. So yesterday whenever we see a
00:07:53
public execution of this man happen in
00:07:54
all of our palms of our hands in real
00:07:57
time, you can't help but wonder, damn,
00:07:59
first of all, he has a family, he has
00:08:01
kids, but also are we a society that's
00:08:03
really going to become that? Is that who
00:08:04
we are? Is that what we're going to be
00:08:07
just strictly because we think that
00:08:09
we're better than the other side? It's
00:08:12
uh it's become a wild wild time I think
00:08:15
in our existence and hopefully yesterday
00:08:17
was a pivotal moment for us on this
00:08:19
September 11th 2025 to maybe have a
00:08:22
September 12th 2001 moment. So that's my
00:08:27
thoughts, positive vibes, prayers to his
00:08:30
family and friends that have been there.
00:08:31
But also I hope to our entire society
00:08:33
like yo you can disagree with people.
00:08:35
You can disagree with people and you
00:08:37
don't have to hate them or have disdain
00:08:38
for them forever. You have everybody has
00:08:41
different backgrounds. I grew up in
00:08:43
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Somebody that
00:08:45
grew up in Miami or South Florida is
00:08:47
going to have different views on [ __ ] I
00:08:49
would assume somebody that grew up in
00:08:51
Compton, California, who I've had the
00:08:52
chance and opportunity to hang around
00:08:54
and get to know people probably have a
00:08:55
little bit of a different view on things
00:08:56
than maybe people that grew up in
00:08:58
Columbus, Ohio. I mean, we're never
00:09:00
going to all agree, but we all have to
00:09:03
exist. and we might as well try to shake
00:09:06
the hand and hear from the other side
00:09:08
more so than try to fight them every
00:09:10
single time. And I think even though you
00:09:12
might not have believed in or felt the
00:09:15
same way that Charlie Kirk felt about a
00:09:16
lot of things, and I'm not saying
00:09:18
anybody on this set agrees with
00:09:20
everything that anybody believes in this
00:09:23
whole world, we can't just hate people
00:09:25
forever because we disagree with one
00:09:27
thing or two things that they feel. We
00:09:29
got to move forward. We're in this thing
00:09:31
together.
00:09:33
Team on me. Team on three. One, two,
00:09:36
three. Team. Our jobs are to distract
00:09:39
people from the real world and kind of
00:09:41
make a little bit of levity and maybe
00:09:43
let you know and kind of reconfirm the
00:09:46
fact that there's good [ __ ] happening in
00:09:48
this world. There's good people in this
00:09:49
world. There's great things in this
00:09:50
world. And although, you know, one
00:09:53
terrible thing or yesterday two terrible
00:09:55
things happening, another school
00:09:57
shooting in Colorado, obviously
00:09:58
devastating all this. I have a daughter,
00:10:00
two-year-old. Think about it all. It's
00:10:02
like there's also a lot of good
00:10:03
happening in this world. And although
00:10:05
these terrible things happen, we hope
00:10:07
that they will all not happen in the
00:10:08
future, we can still understand that
00:10:10
what we're doing right now, we're lucky
00:10:12
to be alive and there's good people out
00:10:14
there trying to make it better. We hope
00:10:16
and we wish them all good luck. And uh
00:10:18
yesterday's a day that I think we're all
00:10:20
going to remember forever. The toxic
00:10:21
table is here at Boston Connor and at Ty
00:10:24
Schmidt. One half of the hammer. Don
00:10:26
Cowboys AP Tone is here. Wild day
00:10:29
obviously yesterday perspective putter
00:10:31
for a lot of us especially people that
00:10:32
potentially speak for a living and also
00:10:34
live on the internet getting a chance to
00:10:36
see that obviously wild but tonight week
00:10:38
two of the NFL kicks off we got a full
00:10:42
college football slate this weekend that
00:10:43
is incredible sports are about to
00:10:45
deliver for us and bring us back to the
00:10:47
hey it is a badass time to be alive as
00:10:49
well tonight Washington Commanders take
00:10:52
on the Green Bay Packers Jaden Daniels
00:10:55
taking on Jordan Love Mike Parsons Is he
00:10:58
going to wreck the game? Ty Schmidt, you
00:11:00
obviously owner of the Green Bay
00:11:01
Packers. What are your thoughts on how
00:11:03
tonight's going to go? And is Lambo
00:11:05
ready
00:11:06
>> for these Washington Commanders fans to
00:11:08
maybe infiltrate on a Thursday Night
00:11:10
Football because they're excited about
00:11:11
this team again?
00:11:13
>> I I don't know about that. I mean, I'm
00:11:14
I'm sure, you know, Commanders fans are
00:11:16
going to be out in droves. I don't
00:11:17
question that. But I think Packers fans
00:11:19
are going to show up, especially after
00:11:21
Sunday. That's kind of the big thing.
00:11:23
You know, the the Packers next to the
00:11:25
Bills and maybe a few other stories. the
00:11:27
Colts uh were kind of the talk of week
00:11:30
one. It's like, hey, this team kind of
00:11:32
feels like maybe a little bit of a
00:11:33
juggernaut after one week. You know, we
00:11:35
all expected the Lions to not, you know,
00:11:37
drop off as much, losing both their
00:11:39
coordinators, and then the, you know,
00:11:41
the Packers came out and just put belt
00:11:43
to ass. And then, you know, the the
00:11:44
Commanders on the other side, it's like,
00:11:46
hey, this might be the year. I don't
00:11:47
think last year was an aberition. I
00:11:49
don't think the Commanders got lucky. I
00:11:51
mean, they won a bunch of close games,
00:11:52
but Jaden Daniels is the real deal. He's
00:11:55
unbelievable. And it is still a short
00:11:57
week. Micah's not 100%. He's not going
00:11:59
to play the whole game. The Packers
00:12:01
potentially, we haven't heard heard yet.
00:12:03
They might have two starting offensive
00:12:05
linemen down. So, uh, I'm very
00:12:07
confident, but also more than that, like
00:12:09
what a treat getting this game as the
00:12:11
first Thursday night game of the season.
00:12:12
Like, here, here we go. We are fully in
00:12:14
it. I'm super excited for tonight.
00:12:16
>> Kirk and waiting for Thursday night.
00:12:20
>> Well, I think we'll have Kirk on uh in
00:12:22
the next hour. They obviously have
00:12:23
production meetings throughout the day.
00:12:24
It's their first one, so obviously this
00:12:26
is going to be huge. They've done really
00:12:27
well, I think, over the years.
00:12:29
>> Yeah.
00:12:30
>> I think we'd like to commend the the
00:12:32
folks at Amazon who were just people
00:12:34
that used to be at NFL Network and ESPN.
00:12:36
>> Correct.
00:12:37
>> Whenever they were initially hired to
00:12:39
run Amazon's NFL, us as people that were
00:12:41
considered outcasts by the sports media
00:12:44
people, all of the suits. All of them.
00:12:45
Okay. That entire generation of suits
00:12:48
that finished, they just got new gigs
00:12:50
now because there's new platforms that
00:12:52
need to do football.
00:12:53
>> Yeah. So as soon as these people all
00:12:55
just leave the two networks, they were
00:12:57
like, "Nah, we don't need anything with
00:12:58
you, buddy. Sorry about then they go to
00:12:59
the new streaming platform." We had
00:13:01
hopes like, "Oh, future's here. We got
00:13:04
good things coming." And then all of a
00:13:06
sudden he says, "Nope, just same people
00:13:07
here." And they were like, "No." All
00:13:08
right. So naturally thought they were
00:13:10
going to ruin it.
00:13:11
>> Sure. >> Naturally just thought these people were
00:13:13
going to do a terrible job. Uh they did
00:13:15
not. I think they've done a great job.
00:13:16
It's gone off without a hitch. Very
00:13:18
rarely, unless your internet potentially
00:13:20
has like a spike or a drop. There's been
00:13:23
high quality. The the stats and [ __ ]
00:13:26
that they do great
00:13:27
>> has been a great addition to it all. I
00:13:29
think people understand the world now of
00:13:31
getting onto a platform and streaming a
00:13:33
a game a lot better than they did
00:13:35
before. And uh I think it's been a good
00:13:37
relationship. But to your point about it
00:13:38
being a great first game, I think there
00:13:40
is a chance at that wedding,
00:13:42
>> Bezos's wedding.
00:13:43
>> Yeah, I think you might be right.
00:13:44
>> He's like, "Hey Gale, you you want to
00:13:46
give us a wedding gift? We shut down a
00:13:47
whole [ __ ] country here.
00:13:48
>> Yeah.
00:13:49
>> Why don't you give us some good games?
00:13:51
Why why don't you give us some some good
00:13:54
games? I feel like the Thursday night
00:13:56
success is going to happen strictly
00:13:57
because of the relationship, I assume,
00:13:59
but also because they're pretty much
00:14:00
trailblazers in welcoming the NFL into
00:14:03
this new era of streaming money and
00:14:05
they've been grabbing it from everybody.
00:14:06
Oh, yeah. YouTube, Netflix can get to
00:14:08
them. Hey. Yeah, absolutely. Amazon
00:14:10
could do that. We got ESPN app. Is that
00:14:12
ESPN Plus? No, it's the ESPN app. Well,
00:14:15
what was ESPN Plus?
00:14:17
>> Well, that was It's the ESPN app. Okay.
00:14:20
Well, we want to do something there,
00:14:21
too, don't you? Yep.
00:14:22
>> Peacock.
00:14:23
>> Yeah. Pe Oh, how you doing?
00:14:25
>> That's a nice looking bird. You got Let
00:14:26
those feathers fly. We'll do something
00:14:28
there. You know, Amazon really did kind
00:14:30
of uh kick it all off and I'm happy for
00:14:32
them. I think they've done a fantastic
00:14:34
job and their entire crew has done very
00:14:35
well on the TV.
00:14:36
>> Yeah, that's the other thing is that,
00:14:38
you know, now we get Commanders Packers
00:14:40
and what is this year three or year four
00:14:42
of Kirk Canal? I forget when Thursday
00:14:44
night prime time started, but boy, those
00:14:47
two guys who have called, you know,
00:14:48
Miracle on Ice and then you go to Kirk
00:14:50
and you, you know, they're calling the
00:14:51
biggest college football game every
00:14:52
single Saturday night. They were doing
00:14:55
the worst games of the week for one to
00:14:58
two years with some of these prime time
00:15:00
games on Amazon. It's nice that they
00:15:02
also acknowledge like, hey, this kicks
00:15:04
off the entire weekend. Like you've
00:15:06
talked about it before, the Thursday
00:15:07
night game is so important because it's
00:15:08
like, hey, we're back. We had this
00:15:10
two-day hiatus after Monday Night
00:15:12
Football. It's now, you know, the
00:15:13
football time for the entire weekend,
00:15:15
not just NFL, college, high school,
00:15:17
everything. It's starting here. And the
00:15:19
fact that they're doing a game like this
00:15:21
where, you know, it's two of the premier
00:15:23
quarterbacks in the NFL. Like, we always
00:15:25
talk about the prime time games stink
00:15:27
when the teams don't have one of the
00:15:29
better quarterbacks. Like, why wouldn't
00:15:30
they just put the best quarterbacks on
00:15:32
prime time? And here we are, three and a
00:15:34
half point spread, week one. You know,
00:15:36
Kirk and I's first game is two teams
00:15:38
that were in the playoffs last year, two
00:15:40
teams that could win their division this
00:15:41
year and be in the NFC championship and
00:15:44
we get that in September. It feels like
00:15:46
Texas Ohio State like getting that week
00:15:48
one damn near.
00:15:49
>> Shout out to football and also the NFL
00:15:51
prime time games
00:15:53
have hit. They have certainly hit. Let's
00:15:55
talk about the numbers tonight.
00:15:56
Obviously, we got one half of the
00:15:58
hammer. Don Cowboys AP tone. There's the
00:16:01
tail of the tape. Uh record against the
00:16:02
spread. They are good for the betters.
00:16:04
>> Mhm. >> Okay. How you doing? we would like to
00:16:06
ride with them. Total offensive yards
00:16:08
now 432 to 266. 246 total yards allowed
00:16:11
for the Green Bay Packers. 231 for the
00:16:14
Commanders. Total points uh per game,
00:16:16
there's only one game,
00:16:17
>> 27-21. If they were scored the exact
00:16:20
same as they scored in week one, the
00:16:21
score would be 27-21.
00:16:23
>> Package cover.
00:16:24
>> And then opponent's points per game.
00:16:26
>> Oh, this Commander defense is stingy. D
00:16:30
>> six points. That's all they're giving
00:16:32
up. Who all is just is that an average
00:16:34
of a bunch of teams or or that was just
00:16:36
one game? >> That was just one game. Who was that
00:16:37
against?
00:16:38
>> It was the New York Football Giants.
00:16:39
>> Jesus.
00:16:40
>> But a lot of people said going into the
00:16:41
year this Giants team is who you need to
00:16:43
look out for. So
00:16:44
>> a lot of people were telling us Russell
00:16:46
Wilson's here.
00:16:47
>> Six points, Bruce. What happened? I
00:16:49
didn't know it was that bad. I saw the
00:16:51
graphic and I was like six points. I
00:16:53
think I just I six points. That all off
00:16:56
season we've we've been preparing all
00:16:59
off season for this game.
00:17:02
No, I mean it it's terrible. Uh it's the
00:17:05
third straight season that the Giants
00:17:06
have not scored a touchdown in week one.
00:17:08
We just show up.
00:17:10
>> We just show up every single year and
00:17:12
look like we got no idea how to play
00:17:14
offense. Uh I'm already out on Russ.
00:17:16
Give me Jamus. Give me Dart. Give me
00:17:18
give me anybody that can get us towards
00:17:20
the end zone. Um but yeah, it was it was
00:17:22
an abysmal start.
00:17:23
>> Defense. We were talking about uh
00:17:25
defensively. Okay, I like that. Always
00:17:27
going to have a good idea over there. I
00:17:29
like how we were talking about with the
00:17:30
Indianapolis Colts. They haven't scored
00:17:31
an opening drive of the opening game
00:17:35
touchdown uh since 2006 or something
00:17:37
like that, Bruce. Like we haven't scored
00:17:39
a touchdown in week one in the last
00:17:41
three years. Think about that. The whole
00:17:43
>> the whole they have they practice all
00:17:45
off season.
00:17:46
>> They're trying to figure it out.
00:17:47
>> I know we love I know we love Daveball,
00:17:49
but that doesn't that doesn't shine
00:17:50
brightly on him.
00:17:52
>> He's been looking for it. And we saw on
00:17:54
Hard Knocks what happened. The Super
00:17:56
Bowl MVP Yeah. shipped out of town. He
00:17:59
wanted to be back. Hey. Uh, we ain't got
00:18:02
it for him. Well, somebody else does.
00:18:04
Will you let me know who it is before?
00:18:05
Sure. Eagles gone. We've seen it all in
00:18:09
there. That place is crazy. This has
00:18:11
been a must-win season, too. That's how
00:18:13
it's been kind of heralded coming in for
00:18:14
the New York Giants. So, the first game
00:18:16
didn't go your way. You guys will be all
00:18:17
right.
00:18:18
>> Baby Jackson dart. He was ready to play.
00:18:21
>> I didn't like that he
00:18:23
>> I didn't like that he didn't get to play
00:18:24
with how he looked.
00:18:25
>> Sure. Now that I know you guys only
00:18:27
scored six points, at some point Dave
00:18:28
Ball's got to look at that, see the ice,
00:18:30
>> lot of it.
00:18:31
>> See the swag, the accessories, and think
00:18:34
that guy can at least get us four more
00:18:35
points.
00:18:36
>> Yeah,
00:18:37
>> maybe the defense will get two safeties
00:18:38
because of this guy.
00:18:39
>> That'd be cool.
00:18:40
>> You know, like I think that that has to
00:18:42
happen at some point. >> Yeah, we we still can't block though, so
00:18:44
that might be the hesitation.
00:18:45
>> Yeah. Was the commies defense good?
00:18:47
Because I thought the big I mean the big
00:18:48
question mark coming in Quinn hasn't
00:18:51
much improved, I would say. Okay, so
00:18:53
let's talk about tonight the gambling
00:18:54
aspect of this evening. Obviously, the
00:18:57
sports books have been winning by a lot.
00:18:59
Okay, sports books have been winning by
00:19:01
a lot thus far in all of football. The
00:19:03
top five most bet uh bets each week for
00:19:07
college football and for the NFL have
00:19:10
all hit for the sports books in
00:19:11
grotesque ways. Four to one, four to
00:19:14
one, four, four to one. Sports book,
00:19:16
sports book, sportsbook, sports book.
00:19:18
Tonight, three and a half point spread
00:19:20
in Lambo. Tone, how's week two start and
00:19:23
what are the numbers saying right now
00:19:24
about the gamblers and how they see the
00:19:26
game going? >> Yeah, three and a half at ESPN bet.
00:19:28
Other books have it at three. So, if you
00:19:30
were looking to take the Packers, uh, I
00:19:31
would search somewhere else for a better
00:19:33
number. Just be a good gambler in that
00:19:35
way. 59% of the tickets right now
00:19:38
against the spread are on the Commanders
00:19:41
plus the three and a half, which kind of
00:19:42
surprised me because the Packers looked
00:19:44
so good in week one. The Commanders
00:19:46
looked really, really good as well. Um,
00:19:48
but I expected it just like the home
00:19:49
team would would get more action, but
00:19:51
that's not how it is currently right
00:19:52
now. And then Bruce and I looked at
00:19:54
multiple sites.
00:19:56
>> Whoa, whoa, whoa. Is this
00:19:57
>> I'm a little skeptic. It says 96% of the
00:20:00
money is on the under. And maybe that's
00:20:01
because
00:20:02
>> who's it?
00:20:03
>> The internet.
00:20:04
>> Yeah, but what would be the place that
00:20:06
would normally give this information?
00:20:07
>> Uh, there's multiple websites. There's
00:20:09
Action Network, there's covers, there's
00:20:11
Yahoo has a like a thing where you just
00:20:13
you go and you click on the game and
00:20:15
some of them are just sponsored by a
00:20:18
certain sports book. So the sports book
00:20:19
feeds there like it could be like 96% at
00:20:23
Bet MGM or whatever, but it could be 70%
00:20:25
at FanDuel. Like so it's it's it's kind
00:20:29
of a flawed system like all polls are,
00:20:31
you know, sure
00:20:32
>> but it's normally generally decent as
00:20:35
far as the against the spread is
00:20:36
concerned. This this over under number
00:20:38
is I
00:20:39
>> 96% on the under is wild because most
00:20:42
football fans just want to see points
00:20:43
anyways. Natural over betterers. We
00:20:45
humans are which is a good thing about
00:20:47
us which we have to remember.
00:20:48
>> We love that. We we naturally think
00:20:50
good. We naturally think yeah we're
00:20:53
going to have success there. So 96 on
00:20:55
the under. Is that strictly because
00:20:56
maybe that's one sports book. Maybe it's
00:20:58
only five betters. But also the trends
00:20:59
right now 12 and four to the under.
00:21:01
Right. >> That would be the only reason that I
00:21:02
could think of this cuz prime time games
00:21:04
are always bet over. Uh, Packers and
00:21:06
Commanders, everyone knows they both
00:21:07
have really good offenses. So, normally
00:21:09
this would be an over bet for the
00:21:10
general public
00:21:11
>> and but tonight might be might be a KG
00:21:15
affair for a boy.
00:21:17
>> Maybe Micah going What is the weather up
00:21:18
there? Beautiful.
00:21:20
>> Yeah, I think we have a perfect night in
00:21:22
Lambeau. I don't think weather.
00:21:24
>> What's the song? What's the song they
00:21:25
sing over there? There's a
00:21:26
>> the Packer Pa.
00:21:28
>> Maybe it was the Packer Pa. There's
00:21:30
another song. They they played us in
00:21:31
preseason, won 50 something to nothing
00:21:33
against us and they played a song every
00:21:35
time. >> Supposed to be 65 and just
00:21:37
>> perfect. Preseason it was like perfect.
00:21:40
>> I think the sun was setting as we were
00:21:42
playing. >> Oh yeah. Magical.
00:21:44
>> Everybody was still in there
00:21:45
>> out of a postcard.
00:21:46
>> You guys were [ __ ] pounding us.
00:21:49
>> I mean we had no shot. I still had to
00:21:51
punt. Everybody's having a good time.
00:21:53
Preseason game.
00:21:54
>> I'm still having to go out there and
00:21:55
hopefully not break my leg.
00:21:57
>> Okay. But boy, that it was electric in
00:22:00
there. I mean, it was a there's a song
00:22:02
that they sing. It's a It's a I remember
00:22:04
it because they it was
00:22:05
>> kept playing.
00:22:06
>> Yeah. Unrelenting.
00:22:07
>> Play it again. And that's basically what
00:22:09
they were doing. That place is special,
00:22:11
man. That is a very special place. I'm
00:22:13
excited. It's going to be the perfect
00:22:14
night for football. You know, the best
00:22:16
truck down the line.
00:22:18
>> Boom.
00:22:19
>> Dodge Ram truck.
00:22:20
>> Hell yeah.
00:22:21
>> You know what we love about Ram? They
00:22:22
got the Hemi V8 back. Fired up and
00:22:26
get in on it. Motor Trend has chosen the
00:22:27
Ram 1500 as its truck of the year for
00:22:30
2025. Ram trucks are also back on the
00:22:32
track and returning to the NASCAR
00:22:34
Craftsman Truck Series for the 2026
00:22:37
season. Look at that.
00:22:39
>> There's a Hemi coming back back back
00:22:43
>> to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
00:22:46
>> It's a big deal. Huge. Love that series.
00:22:48
>> So, when I'm about to buy a new truck
00:22:50
>> Uhhuh.
00:22:51
>> there's always a lot of question marks.
00:22:53
>> Why don't you [ __ ] go see them race?
00:22:55
>> Yeah. Let me see which one's the one.
00:22:57
>> Yeah. >> Okay. Cuz Toyota had a good run there.
00:22:59
Remember Toyota was almost took over our
00:23:01
office. >> Yeah.
00:23:02
>> Ford always old steady.
00:23:03
>> Yeah.
00:23:04
>> You have 150, 350, 450.
00:23:06
>> We can get a 4500 here. We can do that
00:23:08
that entire thing. You know, then we
00:23:09
started looking around and we saw this
00:23:11
Ram truck and they're like, "Excuse me,
00:23:13
you want a 1500 here that rides on
00:23:15
clouds but has enough pool and power to
00:23:18
pull any [ __ ] truck in the yard?
00:23:19
>> Vastly superior machine."
00:23:20
>> Boom. And I said, "Yeah, let me check it
00:23:22
out." Boy, it is great. Now they're
00:23:23
going to have a chance to get on track
00:23:24
with the boys. >> Mhm. Wow. And win.
00:23:26
>> Love that.
00:23:27
>> They used to be on the track from what
00:23:28
I've been told.
00:23:31
>> Too much of an advantage. They're too
00:23:32
good.
00:23:33
>> Yeah, they were too good. >> I don't know if they got kicked out for
00:23:34
dub after dub after dub.
00:23:36
>> Yeah, must have been.
00:23:37
>> That might have been it. I We have not
00:23:39
looked into it. We don't know if that's
00:23:40
true. >> That' be my guess.
00:23:41
>> But now they're back.
00:23:42
>> Okay. >> And you can watch that
00:23:45
>> this weekend or whenever the hell it's
00:23:47
on.
00:23:48
>> Jeez. >> I'll tune in.
00:23:49
>> Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen.
00:23:51
>> It's this weekend. I but they're not
00:23:53
starting till 2026. I was going to say
00:23:56
this weekend. But if you want to get
00:23:57
eyes on it this weekend and kind of
00:23:59
visualize, hey, what's it going to look
00:24:01
like when a Ram truck's out there? I'm
00:24:02
sure you could probably check it out.
00:24:04
>> I think with technology now, too, you
00:24:05
could probably get glasses that say,
00:24:07
hey, turn that truck into a Ram truck.
00:24:09
>> Good. Put me in the cockpit.
00:24:10
>> Yeah. VR that thing. Exactly. Yeah. Get
00:24:12
in there. Yeah.
00:24:15
>> Now you're riding shotgun.
00:24:16
>> Are they drifting these trucks? I I
00:24:17
don't think I Oh, yeah. I wish my
00:24:21
>> I don't think it's dirt.
00:24:22
>> The Ram truck's the only
00:24:24
>> dirt. I thought you had to have a full
00:24:27
towing capacity filled up.
00:24:30
>> Maybe that's why the Ram truck got out
00:24:31
of it cuz they got rid of the dirt. So,
00:24:32
I'm a [ __ ] truck.
00:24:33
>> We were watching Tractor Pool the other
00:24:35
day and what was winning? It was the Ram
00:24:37
trucks. >> Yeah, you're damn right. My truck can
00:24:39
pull your truck.
00:24:41
>> Somebody was talking [ __ ] on tractor. I
00:24:42
can't remember who it was.
00:24:43
>> They don't understand.
00:24:44
>> Yeah, exactly. which is exactly why we
00:24:47
have no idea what track.
00:24:48
>> When we say we, I mean me.
00:24:49
>> He was a child. Joining us now, ladies
00:24:51
and gentlemen, is a man who might have a
00:24:52
little bit more information on the
00:24:53
NASCAR Craftsman truck series. He's
00:24:55
senior NFL insider for ESPN. He's a
00:24:58
Michigan man. Ladies and gentlemen, Adam
00:24:59
Shaft.
00:25:02
>> Gentlemen, what's going on?
00:25:03
>> When's this the truck racing season?
00:25:05
When's that?
00:25:07
>> You're an insider.
00:25:08
>> You got me there. You got me. I got no
00:25:10
inside there.
00:25:12
>> We need you.
00:25:14
>> Bush league, dude. I uh I think the Ram
00:25:17
truck is going to win all the races that
00:25:18
happen. Whenever the races happen.
00:25:20
>> Yeah. Yeah. >> So, we're pulling for them whenever
00:25:21
those races happen at that one big one,
00:25:23
too. We want them to win that one.
00:25:25
>> Yeah. The big truck. >> Chef, talk about a big one. We got a big
00:25:27
one tonight, man. Thursday night kicking
00:25:28
off in beautiful fashion over there in
00:25:30
Lambo. Football heaven. Uh what are some
00:25:32
storylines here that we need to be
00:25:34
paying attention to as we make our
00:25:35
picks? We've been told 59% are on the
00:25:37
Commanders getting three and a half uh
00:25:39
in Green Bay. And then allegedly there's
00:25:42
a lot of bets on the under, but the
00:25:43
trend has been towards the under this
00:25:46
NFL season thus far through week one. Uh
00:25:48
what should we be thinking about
00:25:49
tonight, Shafty Baby?
00:25:50
>> Well, I think tonight is supposed to be
00:25:52
one of the higher scoring games the
00:25:54
week. Now, whether it actually happens
00:25:55
or not, we'll see. Thursday night's I
00:25:58
mean, that's always tough when teams are
00:25:59
in short weeks to come up with points.
00:26:01
Obviously, these are two of the best
00:26:03
teams in the NFC. The Commanders last
00:26:05
year went to the NFC Championship game.
00:26:08
Jaden Daniels, that guy just handles
00:26:10
himself so well in addition to being a
00:26:12
great player. He just gets it. He's on
00:26:14
it. He is going to be a successful
00:26:17
player for a very long period of time.
00:26:20
He makes magic with his feet, with his
00:26:22
arm, can beat a lot of different ways
00:26:23
and they're really lucky to have him. Uh
00:26:26
great player. Now, the Packers, there's
00:26:28
a lot of juice there. The Micah trade,
00:26:31
uh it's interesting to me, Green Bay's
00:26:33
home again tonight. They were home on
00:26:35
Sunday against the Lions. They cleaned
00:26:38
up against the Lions. They're home
00:26:39
tonight against the Commanders, two of
00:26:40
the better teams in the NFC. They will
00:26:43
be home one time in the next six weeks.
00:26:45
So, one time after tonight through week
00:26:47
eight. There's a buy mixed in there, but
00:26:49
there's a lot of road action for the
00:26:51
Packers. Important for them to take
00:26:52
advantage. And obviously, Micah Parsons
00:26:54
will be a huge deal tonight. Again, as
00:26:57
he was on Sunday, he played 29 plays.
00:27:00
Now, their plan has been to ramp him up,
00:27:02
get him ready. They know it's a long
00:27:05
season. They're preparing for it to be a
00:27:07
very long season in Green Bay. We'll see
00:27:09
whether or not that comes to fruition or
00:27:11
not. And so, they don't want to rush
00:27:13
Micah along any faster than he has to,
00:27:15
but I would imagine he'll play more than
00:27:17
29 plays tonight. And there is a matchup
00:27:20
on the road. We talked about those road
00:27:21
games. There is a match up on the road
00:27:23
in a couple of weeks with a team from
00:27:24
Dallas named the Cowboys. I'm sure by
00:27:27
then Micah might be full speed up and
00:27:29
running by then. Um, my guess is he'll
00:27:32
be ready for a full workload at that
00:27:34
point in time, but Micah brought a lot
00:27:36
of juice to that defense on Sunday and
00:27:38
will bring more juice to that defense
00:27:39
again tonight.
00:27:40
>> I assume as Micah continues to get
00:27:41
comfortable over there with his
00:27:43
relationships with people and how
00:27:44
everything's going. I assume he's going
00:27:46
to be the one deciding how many snaps he
00:27:48
has. I I assume as they roll on. Or is
00:27:50
there an actual snap count in mind? Cuz
00:27:52
I think it was what 45% or something
00:27:54
like that last year. You said 29 snaps.
00:27:56
I think it was 45% of the snaps. I don't
00:27:58
know if they would do a percentage per
00:27:59
snap or an actual snap count number. Is
00:28:01
that him kind of deciding as they go or
00:28:03
is there a play you think?
00:28:04
>> I think it's give and take from both
00:28:06
sides. I would think he tells them how
00:28:08
he's feeling and I think I think they're
00:28:10
going to be very mindful of not
00:28:13
overusing him and exposing him more than
00:28:15
they want to. Again, the one thing that
00:28:17
was told to me was it's a long season
00:28:20
and he didn't play any football this
00:28:22
summer and so they have to make sure
00:28:24
that everything is up to speed with him
00:28:27
and that it works out the way um that
00:28:29
they want over the long term and and
00:28:32
they don't want to abuse that in the
00:28:34
short term. >> Yeah. If he picks up a sack in the first
00:28:36
quarter, you know, we already got one.
00:28:38
Okay, let's go ahead and limit him back.
00:28:40
He gets a sack at the end of Okay, let's
00:28:41
take him out now. Let's go ahead and
00:28:43
have the Let's make sure it's a happy
00:28:44
start here. Let's make sure it's a free
00:28:46
flowing start here, but also let's not
00:28:48
be stupid. We hope he's completely
00:28:50
healthy. We hope he's back in full
00:28:52
action soon because we love watching him
00:28:53
and obviously that Packers defense
00:28:55
looked very different. If you have to
00:28:57
break some news, feel free to do as
00:28:58
such, Shifty. We appreciate that. Now, I
00:29:00
think
00:29:01
>> we're getting a call there. I you know,
00:29:03
when certain people call you like,
00:29:04
"Okay, something's going on here." So,
00:29:06
>> answer it. Answer it. Answer it. Answer
00:29:07
it. Answer it.
00:29:08
>> No. Well, I I I just texted the person.
00:29:11
All good.
00:29:12
>> Okay. Who is the person? Uh, do do they
00:29:14
have uh glasses?
00:29:17
>> No.
00:29:19
>> Yep. Yep. Okay.
00:29:20
>> Do they have hair?
00:29:23
>> Yeah.
00:29:25
>> Not Sam.
00:29:26
>> Mustache.
00:29:27
>> We'll see.
00:29:28
>> Mustache. Yeah. Facial hair. Facial
00:29:30
hair. Any facial hair?
00:29:32
>> No.
00:29:33
>> Wow.
00:29:34
>> Bridget Beach.
00:29:39
>> Oh, that's a pretty wow. Good for us.
00:29:44
Okay. So,
00:29:47
>> okay. Uh, all right. Shout out to that
00:29:49
entire situation there. Uh, we'll
00:29:51
continue to ask about tonight's game.
00:29:52
Any other news? Go ahead, Ty.
00:29:54
>> Yeah, Shifty, do you have any injury
00:29:55
updates on either Zack Tom or Aaron
00:29:58
Banks? I know both of them didn't
00:30:00
practice yesterday or questionable for
00:30:02
tonight. And then on the flip side, does
00:30:04
Washington have anyone kind of on the
00:30:06
bubble to play tonight?
00:30:09
trying to think of what was interesting
00:30:10
with Washington um last week was Chris
00:30:13
Rodriguez the running back was a healthy
00:30:15
scratch and they decided to dress four
00:30:17
tight ends and less running back. So um
00:30:20
if they do that again tonight Rodriguez
00:30:22
could be down. Jakori Kroski Merritt or
00:30:24
Bill Kroski Merritt stepped up and
00:30:26
played pretty well in his first role. He
00:30:28
he looked pretty good there, right? Oh
00:30:30
yeah, >> it worked out.
00:30:32
>> Um
00:30:33
uh Yep. And so we'll see whether Bill
00:30:36
Crosky Merritt comes in tonight and has
00:30:37
the same type of impact on this game.
00:30:40
The Packer I haven't heard whether Banks
00:30:42
or Tom's uh Zack Tom is going to be able
00:30:44
to go tonight. I I would imagine Tom
00:30:47
played last game. I would I would think
00:30:48
that I could send out a text here and uh
00:30:51
hopefully by the end of this show we we
00:30:52
get an answer to that.
00:30:53
>> I saw Were you reading a text across the
00:30:55
top of your screen there while you were
00:30:56
talking? Yeah. Yeah. Say in the middle
00:30:59
of that you're getting information. It
00:31:00
feels like
00:31:02
>> uh that that's what we're trying to
00:31:03
figure out right now. Okay. I I
00:31:05
appreciate that. Hell yeah.
00:31:06
>> I I really appreciate the way you're
00:31:07
operating right now. Multitasking to a
00:31:09
tea, having to juggle 45 different
00:31:11
conversations all at the same time. A
00:31:13
true talent, a true trait, and also an
00:31:15
incredible work ethic to be in your
00:31:16
business. We appreciate you joining us.
00:31:18
We're going to run a clip right now. If
00:31:20
you would like to uh potentially go
00:31:22
ahead and handle your business, go
00:31:23
ahead, con man.
00:31:24
>> Yeah, Chef Dy, I need you to be honest
00:31:26
here. You're going to watch this clip of
00:31:27
MCDC giving a, you know, answer at a
00:31:30
press conference and it doesn't sound
00:31:32
like old Jovial Applebee's Dan. Sounds
00:31:35
like MCDC's a little pissed off. Fox,
00:31:37
why don't you run that?
00:31:38
>> With just how good the offense was last
00:31:40
year under Ben Johnson. People are just
00:31:42
wondering, myself just included. Would
00:31:44
it have been feasible just to I know
00:31:46
John's a different coordinator, but
00:31:47
would it have been feasible to just, you
00:31:49
know, Jared talked about changes in
00:31:50
communication. There wasn't a lot of
00:31:51
pre- snap motion. Would it have been
00:31:53
feasible just to run the really the
00:31:55
exact same offense as last year?
00:31:57
>> What What are you asking? What did Jared
00:31:59
say?
00:32:00
>> I'm saying the your offense last year.
00:32:01
>> Well, no, you said something Jared said,
00:32:03
so let me hear it.
00:32:04
>> Changes in communication.
00:32:06
>> Yeah, but you said something about
00:32:07
emotions and keep
00:32:09
>> Yeah. Yeah. I'm saying that would it
00:32:10
have been feasible to and people are
00:32:12
wondering the offense looks drastically
00:32:15
different than it does last year. Would
00:32:16
it have been feasible to just exactly
00:32:18
run the exact same offense? So after one
00:32:20
game, tell me what it looks like that's
00:32:22
drastically different. Not
00:32:24
>> a lot of pre-nap motions. Explosive
00:32:26
plays weren't there. Wasn't as creative.
00:32:28
Wasn't as >> You didn't see any pre- snap motions in
00:32:30
that game
00:32:31
>> as much as we've seen before. I
00:32:33
>> want you to go back and look at all of
00:32:34
our our uh motions, pre- snap motions,
00:32:37
fast motion shifts on the road.
00:32:40
>> Um yeah, look at them, [ __ ] Uh but no,
00:32:44
seriously, the Lions, I mean, the vi the
00:32:46
vibes are not good right now. and MCDC,
00:32:49
you know, taking [ __ ] for responding
00:32:51
that way is ridiculous just because of
00:32:53
course those questions are going to
00:32:54
come. But what do you think, Sheffy?
00:32:56
Should we be genuinely worried about
00:32:58
these Detroit Lions, especially with how
00:33:00
good the Packers and Vikings look for a
00:33:02
quarter? I >> I think I think there are fair and
00:33:05
legitimate questions to ask about how
00:33:06
the offense is going to operate in the
00:33:08
absence of Ben Johnson. Not just Ben
00:33:10
Johnson, there's a coaching staff that
00:33:12
lost eight assistant coaches. Tanner
00:33:14
Angstrand, who is an offensive
00:33:16
coordinator now with the New York Jets.
00:33:18
The Jets offense looked great on Sunday.
00:33:20
He left Detroit, too. There were a lot
00:33:22
of people that were big Tanner Angstrand
00:33:24
fans. And so, this is an offense I think
00:33:27
that uh the talent is there. They have a
00:33:33
boatload of talent. They lose some
00:33:35
coaches. They lose Frank Ragnau.
00:33:37
Offensive line has some changes. And I
00:33:40
just think that these are going to be
00:33:41
questions that are going to come up
00:33:43
throughout the season. I think it is
00:33:45
going to be a little bit of a question
00:33:46
mark until they answer them at the very
00:33:49
least. And that offense on Sunday lacked
00:33:52
explosiveness. Maybe it was one game.
00:33:54
Maybe it was just the opener. It lacked
00:33:57
creativity. Maybe it was just the
00:33:58
opener. Maybe it was being in Green Bay.
00:34:01
I think there were signals that you're
00:34:03
taking out of the first game and say
00:34:05
that didn't look like the Lions that
00:34:07
we've seen the last couple of years. Now
00:34:09
again, they may come out on Sunday
00:34:11
against Ben Johnson and the Bears and
00:34:14
they may go back to being themselves,
00:34:16
but I can tell you there are people
00:34:17
around the league who question that and
00:34:20
wonder if this offense will be the same.
00:34:23
Now, it's up to them to go out and prove
00:34:27
those naysayers and doubters and
00:34:29
skeptics wrong. And there's certainly
00:34:31
enough talent to do that. But through
00:34:33
one game, that was a flat performance.
00:34:35
Jir Gibbs right there caught 10 passes
00:34:38
for 31 yards. It was the lowest number
00:34:40
of receiving yards that a player had
00:34:42
ever had for 10 catches in an NFL game
00:34:45
in NFL history. And so, um, they they
00:34:48
they didn't play great. They didn't look
00:34:50
great. By the way, the Texans come back.
00:34:52
Packers holding out hope that both those
00:34:55
offensive linemen can go tonight, but
00:34:57
they don't sound overly optimistic and
00:34:59
it sounds like we're going to get Canard
00:35:00
at right tackle and Morgan at left guard
00:35:03
and both guys could be down tonight.
00:35:04
>> Okay, put on a thicker short week
00:35:06
obviously going to be difficult. People
00:35:08
are always optimistic, you know,
00:35:09
hopeful, but then whenever push comes to
00:35:11
shove, are we really going to put them
00:35:12
out? Beginning of the year, short week
00:35:14
like this, have a chance to maybe steal
00:35:16
a couple recovery days. Why not?
00:35:18
>> Got a real chance to win the whole
00:35:20
thing. Yeah, you got a long season
00:35:21
ahead. Now, on that note about the uh
00:35:24
Packers and about the Lions, uh maybe
00:35:26
the Packers defense is just the best
00:35:27
defense in the league. And maybe that's
00:35:29
why the Detroit Lions offense wasn't
00:35:31
that good. Maybe it's a combination of
00:35:32
new people talking, new everything, but
00:35:34
also this Packers defense could be the
00:35:36
real deal. They put up two first
00:35:37
rounders for this defense to be what it
00:35:39
is. So, maybe they're just going to be
00:35:41
That's how I feel about the Dolphins.
00:35:42
Maybe the Dolphins aren't ass.
00:35:44
>> Yeah.
00:35:45
>> Maybe the Colts are just the greatest
00:35:46
team in the history of football.
00:35:47
>> There's a Maybe they go undefeated.
00:35:49
Chef, there's so many questions still to
00:35:50
be left out there, you know, like the
00:35:52
Detroit >> L and look, we go back to week one. The
00:35:55
ultimate teaching example of week one
00:35:56
was when the New England Patriots went
00:35:58
to Buffalo. I think they lost 31 nothing
00:36:00
or 31-7 the week in which they cut
00:36:02
lawyer Malloy and it was a disastrous
00:36:05
opening for New England. I think they
00:36:06
went on to win the Super Bowl that year,
00:36:07
right?
00:36:08
>> Yeah, that was in the duck.
00:36:09
>> I like that.
00:36:10
>> Yeah. >> Yeah. Well, also think about what the
00:36:12
Chiefs did to the Patriots opening
00:36:13
night.
00:36:14
>> Yeah. And then Jimmy Garoppolo finished
00:36:16
the game and they asked Belichic after
00:36:17
if Tom Brady's still the quarterback and
00:36:19
he laughed at him. >> Yeah. So then I think you guys win
00:36:21
>> that was run to Cincinnati.
00:36:22
>> Yeah. And I think you guys win the Super
00:36:24
Bowl that year, right?
00:36:25
>> Yeah. Yeah. That was the uh Yeah, that
00:36:26
year they won. I think that was the
00:36:27
flightgate year.
00:36:28
>> Yeah. So you can you can be very ass.
00:36:32
But the stats are not heavily in your
00:36:34
favor. No. Like
00:36:36
>> especially after an 0 and2 start. I
00:36:38
think it was there was some graphic sent
00:36:40
in it was like four teams have made the
00:36:42
Super Bowl. Yeah. Boom. I've made the
00:36:43
Super Bowl after an 0 and2 start.
00:36:44
>> So, it is possible. Possible. It is
00:36:47
possible, Sheffy. But, you know, it is a
00:36:50
long shot, but the whole season's a long
00:36:52
shot anyway.
00:36:54
>> You know, maybe the Lions are all the
00:36:55
way back. And I like that MCDC's got a
00:36:57
little heavy breathing up there. Same
00:36:58
>> little ruffling of the papers.
00:37:00
>> That was hilarious.
00:37:01
>> This guy super genius. He's That's what
00:37:03
he is. Did you watch what we did on the
00:37:04
road? You know, maybe we're slowing it
00:37:06
down a little bit here to start this entire thing. I like that. I like where
00:37:08
we're at with the Lions. Everybody's
00:37:09
rolling them out.
00:37:10
>> Just got to fix the offensive line. And
00:37:11
if you fix the offensive line, you get a
00:37:12
run game going. Play action works. Boom.
00:37:14
We're back in this thing.
00:37:15
>> But uh Jordan Love and Michael Parsons
00:37:17
are in Green Bay and it's a JJ McCarthy
00:37:19
era in Minnesota. He had a great fourth
00:37:21
quarter. That's a sign of things to
00:37:22
come, brother.
00:37:23
>> Player of the week.
00:37:24
>> Lions now.
00:37:26
>> I think the Lions Whoa, whoa, whoa,
00:37:28
whoa. We are in must-win territory. I'll
00:37:30
say that. We play the Bears on Sunday.
00:37:31
We are in must win territory.
00:37:34
>> JJ, by the way, go ahead.
00:37:35
>> The you know the Before we get to JJ and
00:37:37
I am anxious to get to JJ, but go ahead.
00:37:39
The Lions. The Lions after this game. I
00:37:42
mean, look, they play the Bears. It'll
00:37:44
be an interesting game. And then after
00:37:46
this game, the Lions play at Baltimore.
00:37:48
>> Oh, no.
00:37:49
>> At Baltimore.
00:37:50
>> Oh,
00:37:52
they lost by 40 at Baltimore with Ben
00:37:55
Johnson. Rams and three in the Bears
00:37:58
game. Obviously, Ben Johnson revenge
00:38:00
game because they out of town
00:38:02
>> and they're talking [ __ ] I'm on St.
00:38:05
Brown's like, "Yeah, when Ben Johnson
00:38:07
comes on, I don't even care. We're all
00:38:10
saying, "Fuck this bitch."
00:38:11
>> No, he didn't say that.
00:38:12
>> He said something like that.
00:38:14
>> No, he didn't say that. He didn't say
00:38:16
that. But there was a lot of negativity
00:38:18
towards Bango to Chicago over all the
00:38:19
other places he could have went. So,
00:38:20
he's going to have revenge there.
00:38:21
There's no uh you got no cupcakes coming
00:38:23
up here for the Detroit Lions.
00:38:25
>> Schedule is absolutely brutal. And the
00:38:27
fans are going to boo the hell out of
00:38:28
Ben Johnson this weekend. I'm here for
00:38:30
that. Let's talk about JJ McCarthy
00:38:32
because you uh obviously Michigan man,
00:38:34
you knew the inside stuff about him, any
00:38:37
inside stories about him long before I
00:38:38
got a chance to learn them through
00:38:40
college game day and getting a chance to
00:38:41
talk to their coaching staff and then
00:38:43
obviously through Desmond Howard talking
00:38:44
about him and just basically everybody
00:38:46
that's ever met him saying the same
00:38:48
exact thing about him. And I don't want
00:38:49
to do the promo once again, but
00:38:51
basically everybody that's known him
00:38:52
since high school said in between ears,
00:38:54
he's one of the ones. He is one of the
00:38:56
ones. That is what he is. And I think
00:38:58
Darius Butler said it sounds like the
00:39:00
right comparison for JJ is actually Tom
00:39:02
Brady because the in between the ears
00:39:04
thing is what made Tom Brady Tom Brady.
00:39:06
Like we assume JJ McCarthy's work ethic
00:39:07
is insane because of everything we've
00:39:09
heard about the way that he operates. So
00:39:10
he's only going to get better and
00:39:11
better. And with Kevin Okconor, we
00:39:13
assume they're only going to get better
00:39:14
and better. He's the one. Is that why
00:39:16
everybody in Michigan thought that was
00:39:17
the case? And that's why Jim Harbaugh
00:39:19
was saying this guy had the greatest
00:39:21
quarterback workout in the history of
00:39:22
quarterback workouts. He's by far the
00:39:24
best quarterback in this. What are your
00:39:26
thoughts on the Michigan man in his
00:39:27
debut and obviously a fourth quarter
00:39:29
that we'll all remember in his hometown
00:39:30
of Chicago?
00:39:32
>> I don't know that there are a lot of
00:39:33
quarterbacks that could struggle the way
00:39:35
that JJ did through three quarters,
00:39:37
throw a pick six, a pick six that I
00:39:40
think a lot of people thought the game
00:39:42
was on ice at that point in time. And
00:39:44
then he responds with three fourth
00:39:48
quarter touchdowns, including the
00:39:49
bootleg around the corner where he dives
00:39:52
into the end zone. And honestly, it was
00:39:54
very JJ McCarthy-esque. It just was.
00:39:57
That's what that guy does. And Ty and I
00:40:00
talked about it this week, but that guy
00:40:02
is the epitome, the epitome of poise,
00:40:08
positivity, and productivity. That's who
00:40:11
he is. He's always upbeat. He always
00:40:13
believes he's going to get it done
00:40:15
because throughout his entire
00:40:16
quarterback life, he has gotten it done.
00:40:19
He is somebody that uplifts others where
00:40:23
some people like to bring down people.
00:40:25
JJ's just the opposite. He raises
00:40:28
people. You could see the reaction he
00:40:30
got when he ran into the end zone and
00:40:32
how many people went running around him.
00:40:35
It it it's just kind of who he is. It's
00:40:37
in his DNA. It's the intangibles. There
00:40:39
are some people that play the game, they
00:40:42
they just don't win often. There have
00:40:43
been enough quarterbacks through
00:40:44
history. We don't have to name any
00:40:46
names. They they just don't they don't
00:40:48
get it done when it matters. This guy,
00:40:51
high school, college, and in his first
00:40:53
NFL game on the road after a pick six
00:40:56
down in the fourth quarter, he does get
00:40:58
it done. Watch how many people Watch how
00:41:01
many people come over and celebrate with
00:41:02
him once he goes into the end zone
00:41:04
there. It was like sprints.
00:41:06
>> Yeah. And I think I called him a sicko
00:41:07
or psycho, too. I forget what it was,
00:41:09
but it's like very it's like very bro
00:41:12
like very much like they're in this
00:41:13
thing together. It was awesome. You're
00:41:14
right. 75 is who Conor's pointing out in
00:41:16
the background. He's not the only one.
00:41:18
Well, we've cut it short there.
00:41:19
>> There are a lot of people. And now I I
00:41:21
think it's great. Sunday Night Football,
00:41:22
of course. Sunday night, you know, we
00:41:23
get Sunday night. JJ McCarthy versus
00:41:26
Michael Penn. A rematch of the National
00:41:28
Championship game. First time they've
00:41:30
met since then.
00:41:31
>> Kind of cool, right?
00:41:34
>> Another prime time hit, too.
00:41:35
>> Yeah, this is a banger story lines.
00:41:37
Things are going to go well, we assume,
00:41:38
for both guys. Uh,
00:41:40
>> okay. NFL swinging a hot bat. They are
00:41:43
Monday football double header. Not to
00:41:44
mention game kicking off at 10:00.
00:41:46
>> Definitely going to watch.
00:41:47
>> Who who love it?
00:41:49
>> Who? Yeah.
00:41:51
>> We're so pumped for that. That's really
00:41:54
cool. >> So stupid.
00:41:55
>> They got it right last year. Why' they
00:41:57
change it, Chef?
00:41:58
>> We don't know. They might do it right
00:41:59
this year, too. Well, they're trying to
00:42:01
do 700 p.m. for the West Coast. Yeah,
00:42:03
>> cuz remember though they had the they
00:42:04
had the 7:00 p.m. and then they started
00:42:06
the next game at like I don't know it
00:42:08
was 8:30 and it was right when the 7:00
00:42:11
p.m. game was at halftime like they got
00:42:13
this done already. I don't know why
00:42:14
they're going back to
00:42:15
>> Well, you can't watch the fourth quarter
00:42:17
and second quarter at the same time.
00:42:19
>> I think it was I think Orloski was
00:42:21
bitching saying nobody listened to my
00:42:22
game last year. We need to have them
00:42:23
separate.
00:42:24
>> Is that what happened, Sher?
00:42:26
>> I I don't know what happened there. went
00:42:28
back to the 10:00 game. As a as a uh
00:42:30
older guy here, a 50-year-old guy, I
00:42:32
don't like those late start times. It's
00:42:34
hard for me to make it up for the whole
00:42:36
thing. Like, it just is like
00:42:38
>> I I'm going to try, but
00:42:39
>> you don't have to.
00:42:40
>> My chances of succeeding are not very
00:42:42
good. As my wife can attest, I'm sure
00:42:43
I'll be, you know, drooling by the
00:42:45
second quarter.
00:42:46
>> Yeah. Yeah. I like that. You're a mouth
00:42:47
open drooler sleeper. I like that a lot.
00:42:49
Uh I I'll get into that every once in a
00:42:51
while with some deep sleep. 10 p.m. Good
00:42:53
for the West Coast, people, though.
00:42:54
Happy for the West Coast.
00:42:56
>> Go for the West Coast. for happy for
00:42:57
you. All right, speaking of the West
00:42:58
Coast, last question here for you, Chef,
00:43:00
and we appreciate the hell out of you.
00:43:01
>> Uh, speaking of the West Coast, is there
00:43:03
um just a constant injury bug in Santa
00:43:05
Clara because it feels like the Niners
00:43:07
have been bitten by it the last three
00:43:09
years. Uh, right now, George KD, he goes
00:43:12
on the IR, so that's four weeks. And
00:43:14
then I saw earlier today, Perie, maybe
00:43:17
two to five is a potential. Is he an IR
00:43:19
candidate as well? What's what's going
00:43:21
on with the the Niners in their injury
00:43:22
situation right now? Well, Kyle Shanahan
00:43:24
said multiple weeks and when the head
00:43:26
coach is saying on Wednesday that the
00:43:29
quarterback is a long shot to play and
00:43:31
that it's a multiple week injury, that
00:43:34
tells you what need to know. Like Kyle
00:43:35
Shanahan's being as transparent as he
00:43:37
could be about that. And so right now
00:43:41
it'll depend on how Perie feels as he's
00:43:43
coming along. Whether he misses two
00:43:45
games, three games, four, they don't
00:43:47
know yet. They're wait to see how he
00:43:49
responds to these injuries. The toe is
00:43:51
the bigger issue than the shoulder right
00:43:54
now. He heard it when he got tackled out
00:43:56
of bounds by Julian Love on Sunday. They
00:43:59
knew it was hurt during the game. They
00:44:01
knew it was an issue and now it looks
00:44:03
like it's going to sideline him Sunday
00:44:04
and beyond. And so, I mean, it sets up a
00:44:08
great story line here. You prefer to
00:44:10
have Brock Pury out there, but M. Jones
00:44:12
>> finally playing for the 49. Everybody,
00:44:15
everybody expected to see M. Jones
00:44:17
running a Kyle Shanahan offense. We just
00:44:19
didn't think it was going to be in week
00:44:20
two of the 2025 season, but that's what
00:44:22
we got here on Sunday in New Orleans
00:44:24
against the Saints. And again, that I,
00:44:27
you know, I'm just telling you that when
00:44:28
the Niners made that trade to go up to
00:44:30
number three, it was with the intent to
00:44:33
draft M. Jones. And then during the
00:44:35
process and the evaluations, they
00:44:37
changed their course of thinking and
00:44:39
decided to go Tre Lance. And they went
00:44:41
away from M. Jones. And M. Jones
00:44:43
obviously signed with San Francisco this
00:44:46
summer. Uh trying to follow like the Sam
00:44:49
Darnell plan. Sam Darnold went to San
00:44:51
Francisco for a year before he went to
00:44:52
Minnesota for a year before he got the
00:44:54
big deal in Seattle. And so M. Jones now
00:44:56
gets a chance to show what he can do in
00:44:58
the 49ers offense here.
00:45:00
>> I love Brock Birdie.
00:45:02
>> Okay. Yes,
00:45:03
>> I appreciate Brock Py. I respect Brock
00:45:06
Pury. I feel like I have banged the drum
00:45:08
for Brock Party louder than most people
00:45:11
because of how much respect I have for
00:45:12
his story. To be drafted where he was
00:45:14
drafted, become the starter against all
00:45:16
odds and just ball out and then
00:45:18
immediately have success and then
00:45:20
everybody's still thinking, "Oh, he's
00:45:22
there's a reason they didn't draft him."
00:45:24
He could walk on water and they would
00:45:26
say it's because he couldn't swim.
00:45:28
>> And I didn't create that line, but that
00:45:30
was really what Brock Party was being
00:45:31
judged against. And I didn't like that.
00:45:32
I thought he was a baller. Now, him
00:45:34
finishing the game with his toe that's
00:45:35
going to keep him out a couple of weeks
00:45:37
is certainly something that we should
00:45:38
respect. His toughness as well, cuz if
00:45:40
it is something that's going to keep him
00:45:41
out for multiple weeks, that had to be a
00:45:43
real deal. He finished the game there.
00:45:44
So, I think a lot of people just assumed
00:45:46
he was going to play because he finished
00:45:47
the game. If you can finish the game,
00:45:48
what are we talking about? What do we
00:45:50
Well, adrenaline's through the roof.
00:45:51
You're doing this entire thing. But I
00:45:53
say all that to say this.
00:45:55
>> Shanahan liked M. Jones, right, from the
00:45:57
draft process. If M. M Jones balls out.
00:46:01
Okay. >> Uhoh.
00:46:02
>> Possible. M. Jones balling out is
00:46:04
possible. And he again next week.
00:46:08
>> And again the week after that.
00:46:10
>> Uhoh.
00:46:11
>> Kyle Shanahan is a guy who will say we
00:46:14
just gave you how much money?
00:46:16
>> We don't care. We are going with M.
00:46:18
Jones. He is a hot hand. My is my
00:46:21
quarterback type of guy. And that's
00:46:23
insane to even think about at this point
00:46:24
especially because of how much I respect
00:46:25
Brock Birdie. But if M. Jones is the
00:46:27
perfect quarterback for a Kyle Shanahan
00:46:29
offense, which is possible, especially
00:46:31
with the years of experience he's had
00:46:32
now. And failing, you know, failing is a
00:46:34
good thing because you learn a lot. You
00:46:35
know, you get humbled maybe. I don't
00:46:36
know how many gritties we're going to
00:46:37
see tonight. Maybe maybe we see a few,
00:46:39
but it's like maybe he's at a perfect
00:46:41
spot for a Kyle Shanahan offense and his
00:46:42
brain is thrown. Maybe that's why, you
00:46:44
know, there's a possibility here.
00:46:45
There's a huge story line.
00:46:46
>> Yeah. And his number one target in New
00:46:47
England while he was there was Kendrick
00:46:49
Bourne and the 49ers brought in Kendrick
00:46:51
Bourne to be another receiver cuz Jawan
00:46:53
Jennings hurt his shoulder and they
00:46:54
weren't sure about him. So M. Jones is,
00:46:56
you know, basically his best target
00:46:58
throughout his career thus far you could
00:47:00
say because, you know, that's the only
00:47:01
place he started and played with him
00:47:03
would be Kendrick Bourne. So him
00:47:05
McAffrey's healthy and Shanahan wanted
00:47:07
him like
00:47:08
>> I Tongs, what's the guy's name?
00:47:10
>> Jake,
00:47:11
are we on the right track here? Am I
00:47:13
speaking out of pocket saying that?
00:47:14
Sheffy,
00:47:15
>> I I listen, they're committed to Brock
00:47:17
Party. The money's committed to Brock
00:47:18
Party. They'd love to have M. Jones
00:47:20
develop. I I I think that that's I mean
00:47:24
there are always a bunch of scenarios
00:47:27
that can could unfold with any scenario.
00:47:30
Uh I don't see that happening right now.
00:47:32
I think there's a lot of steps that
00:47:33
would that you'd have to get through to
00:47:35
get to that point in time. If Brock Pury
00:47:38
were unsigned and hadn't signed a deal
00:47:41
uh this past summer, then I'd say that's
00:47:43
interesting, Pat. We might be on to
00:47:45
something. But but they committed big
00:47:46
money to the guy. So uh he's going to be
00:47:49
there for a while. the three overall
00:47:50
pick.
00:47:51
>> I traded him. >> Traded a bunch for it. They put Mr.
00:47:54
Irrelevant
00:47:56
up in there. It's a wild move, but if
00:47:58
you're going to win, you're going to
00:47:59
win. I miss Brock Birdie, but I'm
00:48:01
excited to see if this is M. Jones at
00:48:02
his full potential. Good luck to him.
00:48:04
Good luck to all parties. And tonight,
00:48:07
we'll follow along as you keep us
00:48:08
updated on everything that's happening.
00:48:09
We appreciate the hell out of you.
00:48:11
>> Thank you guys. I appreciate having nice
00:48:12
to be with you. We'll see you Monday.
00:48:14
>> Amen. Ladies and gentlemen, Sha first on
00:48:17
Monday. Prepare, prepare, prepare,
00:48:19
prepare. Ladies and gentlemen, joining
00:48:21
us now is a man that said this at
00:48:22
halftime of his last game as he was
00:48:25
beating a team 33 nothing in the first
00:48:28
two quarters of the game.
00:48:29
>> Time talking maybe I maybe I just have a
00:48:32
different standard. I don't like them
00:48:34
freaking moving the ball game. They're
00:48:35
dropping back at the end of the half.
00:48:38
Like we're on the side as me and John
00:48:39
said, they'll take a knee here. They'll
00:48:41
run the ball. They don't fear you. They
00:48:43
don't respect you enough yet. And if
00:48:44
that sounds like coach feet, then you
00:48:45
have the wrong brain.
00:48:47
They're dropping back against our
00:48:49
starting defense.
00:48:51
They're cutting our own line at the end
00:48:52
of the half.
00:48:55
All you young guys are just go back
00:48:57
there and chill. So, I want my
00:48:59
opportunity. Some of you guys will get
00:49:00
an opportunity right now. I told you I
00:49:02
don't care what the score is.
00:49:03
>> I told you I care what the tape looks
00:49:05
like. >> Did I trip when the ball was fumbled?
00:49:07
No, >> sir. >> No. I don't care what happens in the
00:49:08
game. I want to see what the next play
00:49:10
is.
00:49:12
You have one half.
00:49:14
Defense. You have one half. If they try
00:49:17
to drop back and throw it and that
00:49:18
quarterback's not on the ground, I want
00:49:20
new guys in there rushing. I want them
00:49:22
hit. I want them never to say our name
00:49:25
again.
00:49:28
You believe the fact 43 seconds left.
00:49:30
>> Another minute 30 of that. Ladies and
00:49:31
gentlemen, the coach. Coach Matt Rule.
00:49:35
>> What is up? >> Hey, I want to let you know when that
00:49:38
video was leaked, okay? Snuck out of
00:49:40
somebody's phone. Shout out Will
00:49:43
Compton. the boys. Great job on TV this
00:49:45
morning, boys. Uh when we see that, I
00:49:48
think to myself, here's a guy trying to
00:49:49
set a precedent right now. Here's a guy
00:49:51
trying to let the boys know like, hey,
00:49:53
in the past, maybe we're okay winning by
00:49:56
a touchdown or winning by four or
00:49:57
letting people come back on us. Or you
00:49:59
said a couple different times through
00:50:01
there to the defense, you have an
00:50:02
opportunity at a shutout. You don't get
00:50:03
a lot of opportunities at a shutout. I
00:50:05
love that mentality. Is this new speak
00:50:08
from you to the team or is this a new
00:50:10
angle or is this kind of how you've
00:50:12
always been at all your stops?
00:50:14
>> Yeah, this is this is kind of, you know,
00:50:16
who I am um and who we are. I think the
00:50:19
great thing is is I just have a team now
00:50:21
that's ready for it. That's they're all
00:50:23
there for it. Like, you know, we you
00:50:25
know that video in the end there's a
00:50:26
couple senior safeties that are shaking
00:50:27
their head and and uh you know was
00:50:29
really cool at the end of the game like
00:50:30
the one safety Maris um Eupford he was
00:50:33
like I've never beat someone 68 nothing.
00:50:35
He's like, "This feels great." And uh
00:50:37
you know, it's not supposed to be easy.
00:50:39
So, you know, you have you have to have
00:50:40
moments like that where you're just
00:50:42
reminding everyone what the standard is.
00:50:43
And that was directed at the coaches,
00:50:45
too. Like, I don't want to see us
00:50:46
chilling. Like, we're supposed to, you
00:50:47
know, we're supposed to beat people. If
00:50:48
you're at Nebraska, you're supposed to
00:50:50
win like that. So, um but yeah, I I have
00:50:52
a team that likes that kind of stuff.
00:50:53
Like, they weren't I wasn't yelling at
00:50:54
them. I was yelling with them and they
00:50:56
were all about it.
00:50:57
>> I love the competitive spirit. You're
00:50:58
going to have to have that. You know,
00:51:00
having the killer mentality is a real
00:51:01
thing and you have to have it. And I
00:51:03
think it is something that is practiced.
00:51:04
I think it is something that is trained
00:51:06
and it sounds like you were thinking of
00:51:07
the second half against Akran there 33
00:51:09
nothing at halftime uh 68 nothing after
00:51:13
four so that that's a bigger you do some
00:51:15
quick math that's a bigger second half
00:51:17
than first half there and uh no relief
00:51:19
syndrome for this Nebraska team
00:51:21
obviously you have uh Houston Christian
00:51:23
Huskies on Saturday now I assume there's
00:51:26
going to be a lot of similar chatter to
00:51:28
the boys going into this one nobody has
00:51:30
really heard of this team now I
00:51:32
certainly did because I love college
00:51:33
ball and We talked about this Huskys
00:51:35
team down there for the Houston
00:51:36
Christian folks.
00:51:37
>> One of our favorites. They're tough.
00:51:39
>> Dogs are barking down there.
00:51:40
>> Yeah. >> In the name of the
00:51:42
>> Yeah. And Patreant.
00:51:45
>> That's what they do pregame.
00:51:46
>> Yeah. That's the That's the entire
00:51:48
thing. >> They're dogs. They're husky.
00:51:50
>> They don't pray for winning cuz God
00:51:52
willing they shout. >> That's right. And where else would they
00:51:54
rather be than right here underneath
00:51:55
this Lord? So, I understand that they
00:51:57
are a problem. you're going to have to
00:51:58
keep your boys locked in for real cuz
00:52:00
that's the type of game that blows an
00:52:02
entire season, especially if you think
00:52:03
you're going to do something special. Is
00:52:05
that the messaging? And how do you not
00:52:07
look ahead to the rest of the schedule
00:52:09
that is very very good? You got a you
00:52:11
got a pretty solid lineup coming right
00:52:13
around the bend here.
00:52:15
>> Yeah, no doubt. Um I I think the way
00:52:17
we've we've talked about it all along
00:52:19
is, you know, the guys want to go to the
00:52:20
NFL and so I've said like, "Hey, we have
00:52:22
three preseason games uh just like you
00:52:24
have in the National Football League."
00:52:25
And that's not to diminish them, but
00:52:27
it's, hey, we're in the Big 10 and we
00:52:29
have to go coast to coast. We have to
00:52:31
play all these good teams. So, we have
00:52:33
three games to establish kind of our
00:52:35
identity. Guys, the players on our team,
00:52:37
they have three games to establish their
00:52:38
role. Like, I want to be a starter. I
00:52:40
want to I want to be the starting
00:52:41
kicker. I want to be the starting Okay,
00:52:42
well, go play well. Like, like I'm not
00:52:45
going to make you the starter if you
00:52:47
don't play well against Cincinnati and
00:52:48
then against Akran and against Houston
00:52:50
Christian. And so, um, that doesn't mean
00:52:52
that the games don't don't matter,
00:52:53
aren't important. just means like we are
00:52:55
trying to build our team up into the Big
00:52:58
10. And so there's a lot of guys this
00:52:59
weekend who have a lot writing on this
00:53:01
game. Like your role, your how people
00:53:04
see you. Like when the Big 10 teams turn
00:53:06
on this tape, what are they going to say
00:53:07
about you? Like are is there going to be
00:53:08
a fish next to your name like, "Oh,
00:53:10
that's the guy to go after." Or are they
00:53:11
going to are they going to circle you
00:53:13
and say, "Hey, watch out for this guy."
00:53:15
And Domic and Sue, great great house. He
00:53:17
said that on Busting with the Boys and
00:53:19
I'm going to show that to the guys
00:53:20
tomorrow. Like who are the guys on our
00:53:22
team that you have to circle? like,
00:53:23
"Hey, we got to be ready for this guy."
00:53:24
And that's my challenge to our guys. Um
00:53:27
I I like that that video is out there
00:53:28
because our guys answered the call to
00:53:30
your point. We haven't shut someone out
00:53:31
here since 2009. And so to finally shut
00:53:34
someone out, okay, great. But now the
00:53:36
standards set. Now you have to go out
00:53:38
and play that way each and every week.
00:53:39
>> I like the reminder though, like, hey,
00:53:42
you have a chance here to shut somebody
00:53:44
like that is a new goal. All of a
00:53:45
sudden, we're moving the goalpost. Like,
00:53:47
hey, we have a new goal right now that
00:53:48
we didn't know we could potentially be
00:53:50
staring down. And we all know MAC teams
00:53:53
tough.
00:53:54
>> Oh yeah, >> tough doubt. If you let them hang
00:53:57
around, if you let them hang around,
00:53:59
>> love ball. They're gonna be scrappy in
00:54:01
there. And that Ohio University team, I
00:54:03
would not schedule them if I was you
00:54:05
guys.
00:54:06
>> Yeah, dude.
00:54:07
>> I I I have a couple rules. I have a
00:54:08
couple rules. Not rules, but when I meet
00:54:10
with my AD, when I get a new AD, I'm
00:54:11
like, just please never mention the word
00:54:13
Dakota to me. And then we we have Ohio U
00:54:16
next year. I'm watching them, you know,
00:54:18
almost beat Ruckers. I'm watching them
00:54:19
last week and then my AD Troy Dan who's
00:54:21
a great friend he's like you do know we
00:54:23
have them next year. I about fell out of
00:54:24
my chair like well it was before
00:54:26
scheduled before I got here like who
00:54:28
scheduled who schedules Ohio Frank
00:54:29
Solich.
00:54:30
>> I mean those teams know how to win at
00:54:32
Ohio West Virginia was we scheduled Ohio
00:54:35
at Ohio. Who did that? Your question
00:54:38
same thing I asked. I'm like how are we
00:54:39
playing in? And they got Navaro back.
00:54:42
He's in what his hundth year it seems
00:54:43
like over there. Yeah they're scrappy
00:54:44
team. So, if you don't put them away
00:54:46
though, your team could have been on the
00:54:48
other side of an embarrassment there,
00:54:49
you know, like I uh I appreciate the way
00:54:51
you address that with your team. I would
00:54:54
say
00:54:55
>> 45 seconds to a minute too long. You
00:54:57
agree after watching it, Pat?
00:54:59
>> Yeah. Well, I'm always too long. I'm
00:55:00
emotional. Like, that's not like I'm not
00:55:02
walking in like, "Hey, Pat, what should
00:55:03
I say here?" I was legitimately mad that
00:55:06
they drove the ball down and kicked and
00:55:08
almost made a field goal. It hit the
00:55:09
goal post. I was like, "At some point,
00:55:12
that's my point. at some point at
00:55:13
Nebraska, we got to be Nebraska. Like,
00:55:16
you just got to end the game. Like, the
00:55:17
quarterback draws back. You got to go
00:55:19
sack him. And I respect Joe Morhead. I
00:55:21
respect Akan. They They played They
00:55:23
played hard to the end. It was a good
00:55:24
game in terms like there was no fights,
00:55:26
there was no tra like but like we're
00:55:28
supposed to be Nebraska. And so, I'm
00:55:30
just trying to get our guys to realize
00:55:31
like when you say the word Nebraska, you
00:55:33
got to think the way the guys at the
00:55:34
preeminent programs in the country
00:55:36
think. So, I was legitimately mad. But,
00:55:38
bro, I'm I'm always too long. That's why
00:55:39
my wife cuts me off. She's like, "Matt,
00:55:41
stop talking." So, >> no. Yeah. I want to let you know me and
00:55:43
DB Bunch were watching it. We're
00:55:45
watching it and we're like, "This is
00:55:46
really good." And then we found
00:55:47
ourselves looking at the clock.
00:55:50
>> Got another 90 seconds here. Okay. I'm
00:55:52
excited to hear what he does. But I I
00:55:54
love though that your team responded,
00:55:56
brother. That's the only thing. Doesn't
00:55:57
matter how I view it.
00:55:58
>> Doesn't matter how Will Compton view it.
00:56:00
He was ready to go. Will Comp was ready
00:56:02
to go play. Doesn't matter how anybody
00:56:03
else views. It's how your team views it.
00:56:05
And you're obviously getting through to
00:56:06
them. Now, when it comes to coaching,
00:56:08
teaching, elevating this particular
00:56:10
roster, you said three weeks to kind of
00:56:11
build for the Big 10 schedule. Go ahead,
00:56:13
Tone. >> Yeah, coach. First off, shout out Coach
00:56:15
Morhead. He's a great Pittsburgh guy.
00:56:17
Uh, but talking about that, Sabin uh was
00:56:20
on the show last week and Connor asked
00:56:21
him about playing FCS schools. Um, and
00:56:24
Sabin said he would use those games to
00:56:27
kind of work on things that he thought
00:56:29
weren't good. Like if their passing game
00:56:30
wasn't good, they would throw the ball
00:56:31
50 times. But you talked about in
00:56:33
preparing for Big 10 games, are you like
00:56:35
in these games, are you using it to
00:56:37
prepare for Big 10? Are you using it to
00:56:38
for your team to get better in areas
00:56:40
that you know they're not good? How do
00:56:41
you how do you approach these uh games
00:56:43
against FCS schools?
00:56:45
>> I I I think it's one and the same, you
00:56:46
know, and I I I think it's great that
00:56:48
we're playing. I mean, I I coached at
00:56:49
FCS. I coached at Western Carolina. Like
00:56:51
the uh you know, those schools need
00:56:53
games like this to to survive and pay
00:56:55
the bills. So, I think it's awesome. I
00:56:57
think I think you're preparing for the
00:56:58
Big 10 by fixing the things that you're
00:57:00
not doing well. like, you know, we're
00:57:01
we're we're one of the top pass defenses
00:57:03
in the country right now, but we're not
00:57:04
sacking the quarterback. So, like this
00:57:06
week, like, you know, it that's that's
00:57:07
been a major major major factor. You
00:57:09
know, um we haven't had a chance to go
00:57:11
no huddle too yet very much. So, you
00:57:13
know, we're working on that during the
00:57:14
week and then we'll probably show some
00:57:15
of that. We'll probably work on some of
00:57:16
that in the game. So, um yeah, when you
00:57:18
guys bring coach Sabin on, he says those
00:57:20
things, I write them down. I'm like,
00:57:21
"Oh, wow. That's a great way to think
00:57:22
about it." But I'm also trying to make
00:57:24
sure the guys on our roster like the the
00:57:26
twos and the threes like you know they
00:57:28
got to play a lot versus Akran and and
00:57:30
that was important because now in
00:57:32
college football we want to play 16
00:57:33
weeks. We want to go to the college
00:57:34
football playoff and so guys who might
00:57:36
be a three right now they could be a
00:57:38
starter come December and January. So
00:57:40
I'm trying to make these games like like
00:57:42
the feeling should feel like a playoff
00:57:44
game cuz for some guys it it really is
00:57:46
for them. This is their chance to show
00:57:48
what they can do. >> How's Raola? How do we feel about it? We
00:57:50
like it.
00:57:51
>> Uh I love it. I think he played uh I the
00:57:54
big thing is you know I said to our
00:57:56
media and I think nationally like it's
00:57:57
just so easy to be like oh you know like
00:57:59
the Mahomes thing like I want him to
00:58:01
come out with amazing numbers and not a
00:58:03
lot of highlight plays. I don't want you
00:58:04
to see him you know running around and
00:58:06
throwing the ball behind his back and
00:58:07
under you know he can do all that stuff.
00:58:08
I want him just to play quarterback and
00:58:10
I think he's so underappreciated
00:58:12
nationally but you know we'll have to do
00:58:14
it in the Big 10. Uh but I think as time
00:58:16
goes on his his he's he's throwing the
00:58:18
ball from under center. He's throwing
00:58:19
the ball from the gun. I mean, he's
00:58:20
doing everything you're going to do on
00:58:22
Sundays. I think he's I think he's one
00:58:23
of the best players in the country.
00:58:24
>> What? He's a true sophomore right now,
00:58:26
right?
00:58:27
>> That that was game 15 for him. 12 games,
00:58:30
a a bowl game, and then this I mean,
00:58:32
this will be game 16. He's not even like
00:58:34
I mean, he's so young. I mean, he's
00:58:36
going to be so good, dude.
00:58:37
>> Great player. Last year had a lot of
00:58:38
flash, I think, right? That's what you
00:58:40
were talking about, all the flash. This
00:58:41
year, you're saying he feels like a more
00:58:43
mature quarterback. He said under
00:58:44
center. He's not No flash plays. We're
00:58:46
just doing football, basically. You're
00:58:48
saying?
00:58:49
>> Exactly right. Yeah. I mean, you know,
00:58:50
last year early on he had some plays he
00:58:52
ran around. He made some crazy throws.
00:58:53
Some throws that you're like, "No, no,
00:58:55
no. Oh, yes. All right, cool." And and
00:58:56
so that was kind of the storyline like,
00:58:58
"Hey, look at these exotic plays." But
00:59:00
now it's like he's playing quarterback
00:59:03
like the way the way you need to play
00:59:04
it. He's getting the ball to the right
00:59:06
guys. We completed balls to 14 different
00:59:08
people this game. So, it's not like,
00:59:09
"Hey, we're just throwing it to one
00:59:10
guy." Yeah, he's doing he's doing
00:59:13
quarterback play at the highest level
00:59:14
through two games and and now we'll have
00:59:16
a chance on Saturday to try to going
00:59:18
back to the earlier point, do some
00:59:19
things maybe we haven't done as well.
00:59:20
Push the ball down the field, maybe some
00:59:22
no huddle. We'll see how the game plays
00:59:23
out.
00:59:24
>> Oh, dump that. Dump that. H Houston's
00:59:26
going to they're going to know the game
00:59:27
plan. They're going to know the game
00:59:28
plan. They're they're definitely going
00:59:29
to hear this. Uh last question. A lot of
00:59:31
Packers fans out there in Nebraska.
00:59:34
>> You know, there's a lot of Packers fans
00:59:36
here. You know, we got a lot of Chiefs
00:59:37
fans and there's a lot of Packers fans
00:59:38
here. Yeah, I could imagine right out
00:59:40
there in that part of the world. Yeah.
00:59:42
Part of the country. How do you feel
00:59:43
about Michael Parsons joining the
00:59:45
Packers?
00:59:46
>> I think it's such a great move. I mean,
00:59:48
you know, you you give away you give
00:59:50
away, you know, you give away a good
00:59:51
player, F. Clark, you give away two
00:59:52
ones, but you mean you get the you get
00:59:54
the best defensive player in football
00:59:56
and uh you're a running team. You know,
00:59:58
you get good quarterback play from
01:00:00
Jordan Love, but now you've added a
01:00:01
dynamic element. And how do you win
01:00:04
games in the National Football League?
01:00:05
They're all going to come down to the
01:00:06
final five minutes. having somebody who
01:00:08
can affect the other quarterback is
01:00:10
vital. And so you give away two ones,
01:00:12
but they're going to be in the playoffs.
01:00:13
Those are those are going to be picks in
01:00:14
the 20s or whatever. I mean, I think
01:00:16
it's such a great move and him coming
01:00:18
out there. He's out there in number one.
01:00:19
You know, an old Harrisburg guy, my kind
01:00:21
of guy. Like I I think he's just a great
01:00:23
player. I think it's a great move by
01:00:24
Matt Maflur and the people there.
01:00:25
>> Oh, I forgot there was a Penn State
01:00:27
connection there. Of course. Of course.
01:00:30
Uh we appreciate the hell out of you,
01:00:32
man. How's uh uh house rules? How's
01:00:35
house rules? I almost called it rules
01:00:37
house again. I just want to let you
01:00:38
know.
01:00:39
>> Listen listen listen. You went with the
01:00:40
who's house rules house little run DMC
01:00:42
last time and I loved it. We we debated
01:00:44
on the last pot. Should we just change
01:00:45
the name to rules house? I mean if you
01:00:47
say it I'm good with it. But we came out
01:00:49
with another episode today. My boy Danny
01:00:51
Woodhead um Alec all American volleyball
01:00:53
player here. So we're having fun with
01:00:55
it. You know we're getting some uh we're
01:00:56
getting some people in and and uh it's
01:00:58
it's uh it's fun for me to be on the
01:01:00
other side. >> Hey, I want to go to the volleyball game
01:01:02
with you out there.
01:01:04
>> Oh, they're amazing, dude. It's it's
01:01:06
it's an unbelievable atmosphere. Come
01:01:08
on, let's do it.
01:01:09
>> Yeah, absolutely. Love the sport.
01:01:11
>> Love the sport. All right, ladies and
01:01:12
gentlemen, head coach of the undefeated
01:01:14
Nebraska Corn Husker football team
01:01:16
rules. Everybody,
01:01:18
>> coach,
01:01:19
>> rules. Rules has it rules. It's his ass.
01:01:22
>> It's his.
01:01:23
>> All right, we'll be back on the other
01:01:24
side with AJ Hawk and also
01:01:27
>> coach Mike McCarthy. Tell friends
01:01:29
something nice might change your life.
01:01:34
Belle Sessions, who got here at 3:00
01:01:36
a.m. this morning, was the winner. Her
01:01:39
ticket was pulled. And you thought to
01:01:41
yourself immediately, "What?" Belle,
01:01:43
>> I knew I couldn't do it. And he was next
01:01:44
to me and he said that he could. So,
01:01:46
we're splitting it.
01:01:48
>> Okay. So, Bill Sessions made the
01:01:50
decision to talk to my man Henry Silver,
01:01:53
who been
01:01:56
Henry got here yesterday at 6:00 p.m.
01:02:00
He's been waiting for this moment. Now,
01:02:01
Henry, you told her that you could make
01:02:03
it. Why do you think that's the case?
01:02:04
Have you ever kicked a ball before?
01:02:06
>> I've kicked a ball before. I've played
01:02:07
soccer my whole life. I think I can do
01:02:09
it.
01:02:10
[Applause]
01:02:12
>> This kick is for 150,000. You said you
01:02:16
would split it in half, right? Yes, sir.
01:02:18
>> Okay, so let's make it 200,000. If you
01:02:21
make it, you will both get 100,000.
01:02:24
Where are you from, Henry?
01:02:25
>> I'm from Fisers, Indiana.
01:02:27
>> Who's your favorite NFL team?
01:02:28
>> The Colts.
01:02:30
>> Hell yeah, dude. Hell yeah. Come on,
01:02:32
bro. Hell yeah. To hell with the
01:02:34
Falcons. Uh, that that was rude. They
01:02:36
didn't deserve that. I didn't like that.
01:02:38
Henry, 33 yards. 100,000 for you.
01:02:41
100,000 for her. $200,000 to hurricane
01:02:44
relief. 400,000 on the line. Henry, are
01:02:46
you ready?
01:02:47
>> Of course.
01:02:48
>> Have you ever said anything bad about
01:02:49
kickers? >> Of course.
01:02:50
>> Shut up. Let's go. Now, here in Athens,
01:02:52
Georgia, it would be beautiful if
01:02:54
$400,000 would be up for grabs. Why
01:02:58
don't we double it? Because the Georgia
01:03:00
Bulldogs
01:03:02
So,
01:03:04
eight $800,000 kick right here, Henry.
01:03:08
But what I want to let you know is
01:03:10
you're not getting a second opportunity.
01:03:12
I don't care if this entire place starts
01:03:15
chanting for a second kick. One kick,
01:03:17
800,000 racks, 400,000 to Hurricane
01:03:21
Relief. 400,000 to you two split 200
01:03:25
grand each. Henry Silver from Indiana
01:03:28
for Bell Sessions.
01:03:34
Let's go, Henry.
01:03:36
>> Come on,
01:03:39
[Applause]
01:03:44
>> Henry. Henry, come
01:03:51
right down the middle.
01:03:54
Let me see this. Let me see this. Henry.
01:04:07
That was amazing.
01:04:09
>> I mean, he walked in like Henry.
01:04:13
>> Congratulations, Henry. Congratulations,
01:04:16
Bill. Dude, congratulations, Georgia.
01:04:19
What a morning. College game day is the
01:04:22
greatest. College football is amazing.
01:04:24
Bel,
01:04:26
you just won $200,000. You're a genius.
01:04:29
>> The following program is a collection of
01:04:31
stooges talking about happenings in the
01:04:34
sports world. It is meant to be comedic,
01:04:36
informative. The opinions expressed on
01:04:39
this show do not necessarily reflect the
01:04:42
beliefs of their peers, their boss, or
01:04:44
ESPN. There may be some cuss words
01:04:47
because that's how Cubans is the real
01:04:49
world talk. If you are a young, please
01:04:52
seek permission before watching any
01:04:54
further.
01:04:58
Hey,
01:05:00
let's go.
01:05:03
This show stinks and the fact that you
01:05:04
listen, we are very, very thankful for.
01:05:06
>> McAfee on the line with a gorgeous
01:05:09
assist. >> The alltime leading tackler for the
01:05:11
Green Bay Packers. You can't
01:05:14
stop. Stop. Damn it. Your friend, tell a
01:05:18
friend something nice could change their
01:05:19
life.
01:05:22
[Music]
01:05:26
Hello, beautiful people and welcome back
01:05:28
to our boat. The Thunder on this NFL
01:05:32
week 2 kickoff Thursday, September 11th,
01:05:34
2025. Hour two of the program begins
01:05:37
now.
01:05:39
Football >> happens again tonight and we will
01:05:41
certainly be all over. We have the
01:05:43
former head coach of the Green Bay
01:05:44
Packers, uh, Super Bowl champion head
01:05:46
coach of the Green Bay Packers. last
01:05:48
with the Dallas Cowboys coach Mike
01:05:50
McCarthy, Yinszer legend, joining us in
01:05:53
about 15 20 minutes or so to chitchat
01:05:55
about tonight and everything else
01:05:56
happening around the NFL. I think we're
01:05:58
really going to enjoy that throughout
01:05:59
the rest of the season. Obviously, the
01:06:01
toxic tables here at Boston Coner and at
01:06:03
Tai Schmidt sweet shirt.
01:06:04
>> Thank you very much. Just wanted to uh
01:06:06
support Tai, you know, the best way I
01:06:08
knew how. Kind of rep one of his
01:06:10
favorites. I didn't want to wear Packers
01:06:11
gear a little much, but I know that a
01:06:14
Dale Intimidator shirt will help.
01:06:15
>> And is that true, Ty? Does it feel as if
01:06:17
he is riding alongside the Green Bay
01:06:19
Packers tonight? Because the three
01:06:22
DA
01:06:24
is next to you.
01:06:25
>> Go ahead and hand you one of these for
01:06:26
the show. You put that in front of you,
01:06:27
son, and you just let the Lord do the
01:06:29
rest. >> Holy [ __ ]
01:06:30
>> Yeah, exactly.
01:06:31
>> Right there on top of the popcorn. Get
01:06:32
your popcorn ready, actually.
01:06:33
>> Well said.
01:06:34
>> Yeah, that's not a bad little
01:06:36
>> Yeah, >> that's not a bad little tie in there.
01:06:38
How do you feel about the Packers
01:06:39
tonight? because I've heard some some
01:06:41
voices around the Thunderdome saying uh
01:06:44
really like the Commanders all of a
01:06:45
sudden plus three and a half. Are people
01:06:47
forgetting about Cliff Kingsbury and
01:06:49
Jaden Daniels and what they were able to
01:06:51
do in week one or is everybody blinded
01:06:53
by the Michael Parson's magic saying,
01:06:54
"Oh, we all hypnotized by the number one
01:06:57
flying around there in the fourth
01:06:58
quarter and getting do we not remember
01:07:01
who the Washington Commanders are now
01:07:02
that they're in this new era, new
01:07:04
ownership, new time? They're a good
01:07:06
team. Getting three and a half feels
01:07:08
like a lot of points for a Washington
01:07:09
Commander team, especially of this
01:07:11
stature. Are you hearing the same things
01:07:12
that I'm hearing around the Thunderdome,
01:07:14
Ty? And how does that make you feel?
01:07:15
>> Yeah, a little bit. But I think uh kind
01:07:17
of the prevailing notion has been, hey,
01:07:19
three and a half might be too much.
01:07:20
Think the Packers win, but maybe the
01:07:23
Commanders cover, which I could see that
01:07:25
being the case. I'll tell you what I I
01:07:27
did I told Connor this morning had the
01:07:29
Packers looked like hammered dog [ __ ]
01:07:31
last week or just squeaked by the Lions
01:07:34
I would have been very nervous going
01:07:36
into tonight because I do think there's
01:07:37
a lot of talk of Jaden Daniels like well
01:07:40
you know hey we'll see maybe he has a
01:07:42
step down after slump
01:07:44
>> which is kind of weird because typically
01:07:46
we hear about like no actually if you're
01:07:48
good like that's when you really take
01:07:50
that jump is like that second and third
01:07:52
year when you're a guy like him. So
01:07:54
yeah, obviously uh you know Jared Goff's
01:07:57
not back there again this week. They
01:07:59
their play styles are certainly a little
01:08:00
bit different. So that does concern me a
01:08:03
little bit, but again it's at home. Uh
01:08:06
and this is just it's a great
01:08:07
opportunity for the Packers. You have
01:08:08
all this talk, you have all this pomp
01:08:10
and circumstance surrounding them this
01:08:12
season. It's like, okay, go prove it.
01:08:14
You know, you have a you you had a great
01:08:16
win week one. Flush that. That doesn't
01:08:17
mean [ __ ] go out and beat a team who
01:08:20
you could potentially see in the NFC
01:08:22
Championship.
01:08:23
>> Earlier, uh, we chitchated that 59% of
01:08:26
the people are on Washington Commanders
01:08:27
plus three and a half, which also echoed
01:08:29
the sentiments of the Thunderdome
01:08:30
earlier before we went live. Uh, let's
01:08:32
go to one half of the Hammer Cowboys AP
01:08:35
Tone. Where are we at now with the
01:08:36
public trying to beat the sports books
01:08:38
for the first weekend of the football
01:08:40
season? >> We have had some significant movement.
01:08:42
It's down to 58% of the money on the
01:08:45
Washington Commanders. So, a little bit
01:08:46
more Packers money coming. Oh, that's
01:08:48
from 59% to 58%.
01:08:51
Wow. Plus three and a half. Still got an
01:08:53
opportunity. What states over there?
01:08:54
Maryland has sports betting.
01:08:56
>> Oh, yeah.
01:08:57
>> Virginia.
01:08:58
>> Yeah. >> Yep. >> I think majority of
01:09:00
>> maths.
01:09:01
>> You think all What states don't? Utah.
01:09:03
>> California.
01:09:06
>> Does Florida Hard Rock?
01:09:08
>> Florida. I don't think California.
01:09:09
>> No, you can't cuz I Yeah, Hard Rock. You
01:09:12
>> Yeah, you can only do through Hard Rock.
01:09:15
Why you Texas? 38 US states have it.
01:09:18
>> Okay, so there's quick math
01:09:20
>> plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico.
01:09:23
>> Okay, so DC also in there.
01:09:24
>> Shout out to PR, man.
01:09:26
>> Yeah, Puerto Rico, by the way. Great
01:09:27
place.
01:09:28
>> Love that place. >> Great place down there. Puerto Rico is a
01:09:30
great island. I know Tony
01:09:32
>> Sure.
01:09:33
>> had a joke, a little misdirection about
01:09:34
the place. I I don't you know, Bonnie
01:09:37
obviously right
01:09:38
>> from Puerto Rico. >> Oh, and peace bonnie.
01:09:40
>> Yeah, he blew out his knee.
01:09:41
>> His knee. Stop hopping like a bunny. He
01:09:44
was doing a uh 30-day uh or 30 show uh
01:09:47
what's that called? Residency in Puerto
01:09:49
Rico, just the island of Puerto Rico.
01:09:52
And I happened to be down there in the
01:09:54
middle of the show, residency time.
01:09:57
>> And his show was like an hour maybe away
01:10:00
from where I was, but they're talking
01:10:01
about tourism just on the whole island
01:10:03
being up because Bob Bunn is doing this
01:10:05
entire thing. So when you talk about
01:10:06
representing for your homeland, I mean,
01:10:08
he is actually doing that like bringing
01:10:11
so much money to the island. Yeah. He
01:10:13
he's a showman, too. He's entertaining.
01:10:14
>> Oh, yeah. PL
01:10:15
>> he's doing a lot of stuff, you know, and
01:10:17
then he's hopping around. He's knee
01:10:19
blows. Uh he he toughed it out to the
01:10:21
back,
01:10:22
>> which I appreciate there. So, what we're
01:10:24
saying is maybe more people betting on a
01:10:25
commanders at this standpoint because
01:10:27
Green Bay Packers fans have yet to wake
01:10:28
up and start gambling or do we think
01:10:30
plus three and a half is the right play?
01:10:31
Feels like that's what everybody is
01:10:33
alluding to that's chitchatting about.
01:10:34
>> It's not the side I'm going to be on. Uh
01:10:36
but if the majority look
01:10:39
>> joining us now ladies and gentlemen is a
01:10:40
man who is live from an attic in Ohio.
01:10:43
He is also a college football national
01:10:45
champion, a Super Bowl champion and a
01:10:46
Ryder Cup winner. Ladies and gentlemen,
01:10:48
AJ Hawker
01:10:51
hawker hawker hawker hawker hawker
01:10:57
hoger.
01:10:58
>> Hey, that song you're looking for is
01:10:59
called Roll Out the Barrel. What they
01:11:01
play uh in Lambo. Play like you usually
01:11:03
like heading into the fourth quarter
01:11:04
towards the end of the game. Just get
01:11:05
everybody really juiced up.
01:11:07
>> Let me hear it. Cuz we lost uh in the
01:11:08
preseason there by a lot.
01:11:09
>> More of an instrumental thing. I mean,
01:11:11
there's some words to it. More of an
01:11:12
instrumental just kind of vibe that.
01:11:14
>> What's it sound like, though? What's the
01:11:15
instrumental sound like?
01:11:16
>> Roll out the barrel. There it is.
01:11:19
>> Roll.
01:11:20
>> And there's some words like tad. Tad.
01:11:22
Taba. Tabotto. There's like some weird
01:11:24
words in it, too. It's like old PCO
01:11:26
situation. >> Okay. So, maybe that is what you were
01:11:28
referring to. Uh roll out the barrel is
01:11:30
the name. Bruce, can we maybe try to
01:11:32
search that? Roll out the barrel. Uh, we
01:11:35
assume it's called >> Lil Wayne did it. Hey, Lil Wayne enter
01:11:37
introed it I think I don't know four or
01:11:39
five years ago at Lambo. He was like the
01:11:41
guy that started it. >> He hit the roll out the barrel with the
01:11:43
Wayne train. You're telling me Lil Wayne
01:11:44
got on the roll out the barrel barrel
01:11:47
song? That is nasty. That is
01:11:48
>> He was on the 50. I think he was on the
01:11:50
50. He kind of introed it and bam. Place
01:11:52
went crazy. >> So he introed the song or he was he put
01:11:55
a verse on the song?
01:11:57
>> I don't think he put a verse on the
01:11:59
song. At least not in the moment. Not in
01:12:00
the video I saw.
01:12:01
>> Need need a mixtape remix with
01:12:04
Lil Wayne
01:12:05
>> on top of roll out the barrel
01:12:07
>> if you want to. Sure. But
01:12:09
>> can you find the song though? Can you
01:12:11
find a video, Bruce? So we can hear the
01:12:13
thing as opposed to just read about it.
01:12:15
You know, cuz AJ refuses to do it. What
01:12:17
do he say? Roll out the barrel.
01:12:21
>> Pretty much it.
01:12:22
>> Roll.
01:12:26
>> There you go.
01:12:27
>> They throttle me. Is it? How does it
01:12:28
look? >> I think it was an autofocus situation
01:12:31
there. And they got those books in the
01:12:32
back. You got some new books this year,
01:12:33
I see.
01:12:34
>> Uh, yeah, a couple new ones to add to
01:12:36
the collection, but you know, the usuals
01:12:37
are here.
01:12:38
>> Yeah, the usual is always going to be
01:12:39
around. Always going to want those words
01:12:41
of literature obviously really close to
01:12:43
your brain so you can maybe osmosis it.
01:12:45
I appreciate you doing that. Did you
01:12:46
ever think about maybe changing the
01:12:48
books for this year? Was there ever even
01:12:50
a thought of that?
01:12:52
>> Uh, no. I No. Can't can't fake it. I I
01:12:56
did.
01:12:57
>> Yeah. Yeah, I don't think I've even put
01:12:58
thought into that background, but I have
01:13:00
had people recently come up and say,
01:13:01
"So, are those his favorite books? Why
01:13:03
is he always in front of the And I'm
01:13:06
like, >> why you turn them backwards? Why do you
01:13:07
turn those books backwards?" They tell
01:13:09
me, >> "That's cuz you're mysterious."
01:13:10
>> Yeah. Cuz it's art.
01:13:13
>> Yeah, it is right. You're right. You
01:13:14
take You never want to judge a book by
01:13:16
its cover. >> That's right.
01:13:17
>> So, you actually completely cover the
01:13:19
cover so that there is no cover. So, you
01:13:21
go in blind going in, which is, hey, not
01:13:24
a bad thing to do. and that's why we
01:13:26
appreciate you. Tonight though,
01:13:27
obviously great bias. You're the
01:13:28
all-time leading tackler for the Green
01:13:30
Bay Packers. The Washington Commanders
01:13:32
are coming to town. We've heard 65
01:13:34
degrees tonight. Should be a perfect
01:13:36
night in Green Bay, Wisconsin. AJ, your
01:13:39
thoughts on what will win the game for
01:13:40
the Packers or what you're worried about
01:13:42
maybe for the Packers? Either or.
01:13:44
>> So, what's the final injury situation
01:13:46
from Chef? Did he say do we know about
01:13:47
the O line? Like what's
01:13:48
>> both out
01:13:50
likely?
01:13:51
>> It's not not a great thing, but you know
01:13:53
what? I still think they'll be all
01:13:54
right. Obviously, we need Jordan Love to
01:13:55
play well. I I think we need to find a
01:13:57
way to run the ball, too, if we're Green
01:13:58
Bay. Um, Jaden Daniels is awesome. I I
01:14:01
think the Commanders are awesome. I love
01:14:02
what they do, but I think another home
01:14:05
game in Lambo night game. They're going
01:14:07
to play roll out the barrelhead into the
01:14:08
fourth quarter. That place is going to
01:14:10
be alive tonight. It's going to be
01:14:11
awesome. I think the Packers figure it
01:14:12
out.
01:14:13
>> We found it. >> Is it like renegade?
01:14:16
>> I mean, yes.
01:14:18
>> It's kind of a hokey version.
01:14:22
>> Bruce found it.
01:14:24
had a boy, Bruce.
01:14:26
[Music]
01:14:30
>> Roll out the barrel.
01:14:34
We'll have a barrel of fun.
01:14:37
Roll out.
01:14:39
>> You know the dance.
01:14:41
>> We've got the blues on the run.
01:14:45
Sing.
01:14:46
>> It's so Wisconsin. It is so green.
01:14:50
[Music]
01:14:51
>> Brilliant. Now it's time to roll the
01:14:54
barrel
01:14:55
>> for the gangs all here.
01:15:00
>> That's sick.
01:15:01
>> That sucks.
01:15:03
>> What? >> What?
01:15:04
>> Pretty sweet. >> Yeah. I'm sorry. That sucks. And
01:15:07
honestly, I'm damn near speaking for Ty
01:15:10
here cuz I know he won't say it.
01:15:11
>> It's tradition. And sorry we don't have
01:15:13
Sammy Adams, you know, coming out for
01:15:15
the Patriots.
01:15:16
>> No, I'm not I'm not comparing I'm not
01:15:18
comparing anything like that. I'm
01:15:20
strictly comparing it to the only one I
01:15:22
know and that's Renegade and I'm sorry.
01:15:23
>> Yeah, but that's No, that's 1A 1B
01:15:26
situation. I think
01:15:27
>> you're thinking about Frankie Yankeeic
01:15:29
and his Yanks here singing rollic
01:15:32
boy thing. Yeah, that's what we're
01:15:33
talking about.
01:15:34
>> Listen, if it gets the crowd fired up,
01:15:35
that's all it meant.
01:15:36
>> What' you say? It was a hokey version.
01:15:37
That took me back to that preseason
01:15:39
game. We were getting our ass.
01:15:42
>> Reminds me of the Pittsburgh Pokes,
01:15:44
dude. Hey, the best was we played, you
01:15:46
know, in Green Bay, we're used to all
01:15:47
like the Lambo Field that play Raw Off
01:15:49
the Barrel. We went to San Francisco, I
01:15:51
don't know how many years ago in Titty
01:15:52
Boys performing on the top of the
01:15:54
dugout.
01:15:56
This is not This is not Lambo Field,
01:15:58
guys. This is much different atmosphere.
01:15:59
>> That's a great performance though on the
01:16:01
two chains. I mean, I've never seen him
01:16:03
not have a great performance, by the
01:16:04
way.
01:16:05
>> Yeah. >> I've seen him a couple different times
01:16:06
at different times of the night. You
01:16:08
know, I' i've seen him at one place at
01:16:10
10 pm. I've seen him at another place 2
01:16:12
am.
01:16:13
>> Both times nothing but home runs out of
01:16:14
Titty Boy. I mean, he's ready for the
01:16:16
moment. Always will be, always has been.
01:16:18
But yeah, it is interesting how
01:16:19
different stadiums operate. How
01:16:21
different fan bases are. You know, like
01:16:23
here in Indianapolis, I think we have a
01:16:24
very hospitable bunch. Is it Nebraska
01:16:26
that's like the greatest fans,
01:16:28
>> the nicest of all time?
01:16:29
>> The football fans are just like fill up.
01:16:30
They do the entire thing. And then you
01:16:32
got like the old school Raiders fans.
01:16:34
I'm not saying Las Vegas is like this,
01:16:35
but they take pride in like, yeah, it
01:16:38
sucks playing here because of us. It's a
01:16:40
fascinating dynamic these stadiums. I
01:16:42
think whatever you empower the city
01:16:44
though to be awesome, I think that's a
01:16:45
good thing. You should just know your
01:16:47
identity in there. You know what I mean,
01:16:48
AJ? You should know your identity.
01:16:49
>> How do you get that? Does your your team
01:16:51
has to have a good run of being really
01:16:52
really good to create that kind of
01:16:54
identity, doesn't it? You can't be like
01:16:56
mediocre and have great traditions, can
01:16:58
you? I don't know. Maybe you can't.
01:16:59
>> I think the people are the culture in
01:17:00
any city. Okay, that's what I think. So
01:17:02
like in Pittsburgh for instance, there's
01:17:04
a chance
01:17:05
>> there's going to be some booze bags
01:17:07
fighting each other.
01:17:08
>> Sure. >> Like that is going to happen probably in
01:17:10
this at a game. That is probably going
01:17:11
to take place. Philadelphia
01:17:14
>> probably go ahead and check that box as
01:17:15
well.
01:17:16
>> Cincinnati. >> Boom. Now, Zack Taylor, I'd like to talk
01:17:19
to you about this now that we're at
01:17:21
Cincinnati. Bang. Now, let's get into an
01:17:23
actual story. This is head coach of the
01:17:25
Cincinnati Bengals. Zack Taylor, who we
01:17:27
will add is a man who has taken a game
01:17:29
ball to a local bar, dive bar, and given
01:17:32
a game ball to them and the people of
01:17:34
Cincinnati. I think he has had a beer or
01:17:36
10 with the Cincinnati people. Here's
01:17:38
him chitchatting about opening night.
01:17:40
>> Yeah, here's exactly what I'm looking
01:17:42
for. I I know how loud we're going to be
01:17:43
and so let's do it early. Let's show
01:17:45
them right out the gate. Um, I think
01:17:47
when Sam Huard is up there as the ruler
01:17:49
of the jungle, every seat is packed and
01:17:52
and I I' I'd love to look up just for
01:17:54
I'm just asking for one game, a
01:17:55
10-minute sacrifice from the parking
01:17:57
lot. And so that that might just mean
01:17:59
getting up 10 minutes 10 minutes earlier
01:18:01
and getting to the stadium 10 minutes
01:18:03
earlier than you normally would. And so
01:18:04
do whatever you want in those extra 10.
01:18:06
And then that extra 10 getting in the
01:18:08
stadium. And so when when Sam's the
01:18:10
ruler, I'm kind of looking up at that
01:18:12
escalator that's to my right and it's
01:18:14
it's blank, you know, and maybe people
01:18:17
just appease me and stand at the bottom
01:18:18
so I can't see as he's up there. But um
01:18:21
I would love to hear that just week one.
01:18:23
The rest of them you can you can tell
01:18:25
get a little extra longer. But I think
01:18:26
for this first one to be awesome just to
01:18:28
send the message to the team, we got to
01:18:29
do our best to start 2 and 0. And for
01:18:32
all the great things that we want to do
01:18:33
this year, it starts with playing great
01:18:35
at home. And that's a collective effort
01:18:38
from our players, our coaches, our fan
01:18:40
base. And so I'm excited to set off 2025
01:18:43
the right way at home. And um orange,
01:18:46
we're we're orangeed out, you know, and
01:18:48
uh the jerseys look great and our guys
01:18:50
will be fired up. >> That's a 1:00 game. He's saying maybe we
01:18:52
get there a little bit earlier. Okay,
01:18:54
let's go ahead and fill that place at
01:18:55
the beginning of this. This isn't a
01:18:56
Miami Heat game or a Los Angeles Lakers
01:18:58
game, especially when Sam's up there as
01:19:00
the ruler of the jungle. They got the
01:19:02
Jacksonville Jaguars coming into town.
01:19:04
The Jacksonville Jaguars vastly
01:19:05
different than the Jacksonville Jaguars
01:19:07
have been in years past. If you listen
01:19:08
to AQ Shipley with the offensive line
01:19:10
and the way they're designing plays and
01:19:12
everything they got going on down there,
01:19:14
that's a situation where Zack Taylor
01:19:16
tells Ohio people need you in here.
01:19:18
Okay, enough with the boozing. Need you
01:19:20
to come inside. If Jacksonville starts
01:19:22
hot,
01:19:23
>> right? I don't know Ohio people
01:19:25
perfectly, but I do know them pretty.
01:19:27
This guy,
01:19:28
>> why don't you show up 10 minutes
01:19:30
earlier? There is a there is a chance
01:19:32
that that happens. But how do you think
01:19:34
the response will be from this? And what
01:19:35
do you think Bengals fans are thinking
01:19:37
heading into a big orange in the jungle?
01:19:40
>> I think fans the response will be
01:19:42
positive. I think they do need to have a
01:19:43
hot start to this game. That would
01:19:45
definitely help. Um but yeah, I think
01:19:47
the fans are probably pretty upset that
01:19:48
they've started so poorly in the past
01:19:50
that they're like, "All right, hey, we
01:19:51
need to do our part to make sure that we
01:19:53
have a hot start because we are we know
01:19:54
we have a good team, but we've kind of
01:19:56
got behind the eight-ball the last few
01:19:57
years."
01:19:58
>> Welcome to Jungle.
01:20:01
games.
01:20:03
>> They play that a lot over there. I
01:20:04
assume
01:20:05
>> we got a >> little bit. Yeah, a little bit.
01:20:07
>> They better. >> What do you mean a little bit?
01:20:08
>> What the hell?
01:20:09
>> I don't I don't even call a bunch. I I
01:20:10
do remember after
01:20:12
>> I remember Andy Daltton tell me one time
01:20:13
they came out to I think Katy Perry Roar
01:20:16
or something and he said it just it
01:20:18
didn't work. Andy said I don't know who
01:20:19
came up with it, but it did not work.
01:20:21
Probably shouldn't have happened. Hey,
01:20:22
some of those stadiums are ass whenever
01:20:24
it comes to music playing
01:20:27
>> game day atmosphere,
01:20:28
>> the vibes, the in between quarters, what
01:20:31
we're doing, the timeouts, you know,
01:20:32
they try new games. We had a new game at
01:20:34
Lucas Oil Stadium, tic-tac-toe with the
01:20:37
garbage can toss used to be just the
01:20:39
garbage can toss. The thing about the
01:20:41
garbage can toss or the the little like
01:20:44
uh you would have had to hit it like a
01:20:45
circle here.
01:20:46
>> Uh very rarely did they if they hit it
01:20:48
was a celebration,
01:20:49
>> right? So now they had to hit at least
01:20:51
three times to get the tic-tac-toe
01:20:53
board.
01:20:54
>> There was a lot of misses in there.
01:20:56
>> So we're waiting for the next one.
01:20:58
People are getting a little bit eager in
01:21:01
there. But the teams that do that right,
01:21:02
I do think it's an advantage. I think
01:21:04
the home field advantage is real. And I
01:21:06
think the stadium and the DJ and how
01:21:08
they can help, you know, they can kind
01:21:11
of guide how we do this thing. Don't you
01:21:12
think, AJ, with where we've been and
01:21:14
what we've seen these days?
01:21:15
>> Yeah. And like you talk to the the
01:21:17
people that run like that are in pretty
01:21:19
good franchises, they they it's their
01:21:21
full-time gig. They have a whole team
01:21:22
that that's what they do. Like game day
01:21:24
environment, atmosphere, when they play
01:21:26
the music, when you stop it, when you
01:21:27
start it. I mean, think of like uh think
01:21:29
of remember was it Buffalo in between
01:21:31
when they're during the timeout and all
01:21:32
the players are playing air guitar and
01:21:34
all that stuff. Like it's a real thing.
01:21:36
I think if if you're in the NFL and you
01:21:38
don't know it, you don't have a great
01:21:39
atmosphere, go talk to some of these
01:21:40
college places cuz we've been to some of
01:21:42
these college stadiums where they have
01:21:43
it dialed in. They know what to do.
01:21:45
juice, you know, because there's a lot
01:21:46
of distractions in the modern world,
01:21:48
>> okay? So, we need to keep everybody
01:21:50
dialed and we need to keep everybody's
01:21:52
energy up because as soon as they sit
01:21:53
down and get tired, they're going right
01:21:54
to their phone and probably right to
01:21:56
whatever drink they have and right to
01:21:58
this ain't a benefit. You're in this
01:22:00
building. You're not helping anything
01:22:01
right now. You're certainly there. So,
01:22:03
it's like the juice and the way you have
01:22:05
it all flowing is a big deal. Zack
01:22:06
Taylor said, "Can we get there for the
01:22:08
beginning?" And again,
01:22:09
>> please.
01:22:10
>> Please. >> Just this one.
01:22:11
>> Cincinnati has a great tailgating scene,
01:22:12
though. I will say I got a chance to see
01:22:14
it one time. They got great setups
01:22:15
everywhere. I'm sure there are people
01:22:17
that like to celebrate football. Zack
01:22:19
saying just for the first one, is there
01:22:20
any way you can be in there? This
01:22:21
Jacksonville Jaguars team ain't the same
01:22:22
old Jaguars. Okay, actual good team this
01:22:25
year from what everybody is saying. Chat
01:22:27
to Liam Cohen and Stoner. Joining us
01:22:29
now, Super Bowl champion, head coach of
01:22:31
the Green Bay Packers, formerly with the
01:22:33
Dallas Cowboys. Now, a man that we get a
01:22:36
chance to chat with every single week,
01:22:37
Yinszer legend, ladies and gentlemen,
01:22:40
Coach Mike McCarthy.
01:22:43
>> Oh, coach. Coach, you look amazing. I
01:22:45
like the Kangle, but
01:22:47
>> Oh, it's not a Kangle. It's a hat
01:22:48
>> with a sticker on.
01:22:50
>> Oh, wow. >> Who's that behind you, coach?
01:22:52
>> AJ Hawk. I mean, he made the request
01:22:54
last week, so we uh accommodated him.
01:22:57
Hell, I even when I got me an AJ Hawk
01:22:59
microphone, too. I'm just trying to AJ
01:23:03
AJ's lead here. So, I'm trying to fit in
01:23:05
right around. >> AJ, what does that mean? You called for
01:23:07
a photo of yourself behind coach Mike
01:23:10
McCarthy. >> I sent a text. Actually, I sent a text
01:23:12
while he was still on the show for my
01:23:13
keyboard. I said, "Hey, coach, you got
01:23:14
to put a picture of me next time,
01:23:15
please, in your background."
01:23:16
>> Hey, good photo of AJ there, coach.
01:23:18
Don't you think he should grow his hair
01:23:19
back? Is that what he's doing right now,
01:23:20
you think?
01:23:22
>> Yeah. No, it looks good. You have to ask
01:23:24
Laura that. I'll stay out of that one.
01:23:26
That's
01:23:27
>> coach. That's a smart man, right? That's
01:23:30
good coaching right there. Uh, coach,
01:23:32
obviously, you have a lot of history in
01:23:34
Green Bay. You're currently in Green
01:23:35
Bay. Obviously, the ties to Mike are
01:23:38
very deep as well with not only your
01:23:39
connection at the Dallas Cowboys, but
01:23:41
now he's potentially living in the
01:23:42
neighborhood uh that you stay in
01:23:44
currently. What are your thoughts on
01:23:46
where the Green Bay Packers are right
01:23:48
now? What are your thoughts on their
01:23:49
debut against the Detroit Lions? And is
01:23:51
there a buzz up there? I know you
01:23:52
haven't been able to be around the city
01:23:54
since you left, but is there a buzz in
01:23:56
Green Bay? Like, hey, maybe this is a
01:23:58
year the Packers can go on a run.
01:24:00
>> Oh, definitely. No, there's definitely a
01:24:02
big buzz. I mean, everywhere I know I
01:24:04
go, uh, that's probably the first or
01:24:06
second question is, you know, how's
01:24:08
Micah doing and, you know, h how's he
01:24:10
going to be here in Green Bay? So, uh,
01:24:12
being at the game definitely felt the
01:24:14
buzz. I mean, just to hear him, you
01:24:16
know, when they announced and I and
01:24:18
really, um, I kind of I got a kick out
01:24:20
of watching him, you know, on the
01:24:21
sidelines cuz he was, you know, chomping
01:24:23
at the bit. He was like a cage lion, you
01:24:25
know, getting ready to go in there. I
01:24:26
think they played him around 30 plays
01:24:27
and but just you know from the first
01:24:29
time he got in that that first third
01:24:31
down you know the pressure because I
01:24:33
mean Mike Micah Micah has an effect. I
01:24:35
mean uh the defensive backs are going to
01:24:37
are definitely going to benefit from it
01:24:39
and the defensive pass you know and pass
01:24:41
defense and and I think you know
01:24:43
definitely the other guys up front. But
01:24:45
I was very impressed with the Packers. I
01:24:47
I thought they played at a really high
01:24:48
level uh from the start of the game all
01:24:50
the way through and and I was very
01:24:51
impressed with their defensive front.
01:24:53
>> Are the Lions dead, coach? Are the are
01:24:55
the Lions absolutely dead out there?
01:24:58
That's Foxy who's a Detroit Lions fan in
01:25:00
the back going ah in there. But whenever
01:25:03
all this starts happening with all the
01:25:04
turnover and change and obviously you
01:25:06
hope that you're able to just pick up
01:25:07
right where you left off, is there
01:25:09
growing pains? Like what are your
01:25:10
thoughts on the Detroit Lions after
01:25:11
watching their game with the Packers?
01:25:13
>> Well, I I'll say this and we talked a
01:25:15
little little bit about this last week
01:25:17
before the um Cowboys and Eagles game. I
01:25:19
mean, division games to me, division
01:25:21
games are the most important. They're
01:25:22
the best games of the regular season. Uh
01:25:24
I've always loved the format um of
01:25:27
playing the division games at the end of
01:25:28
the year. I thought when the league went
01:25:29
to that 10 or 12 years ago, that was a
01:25:31
great move. Um but division games in
01:25:33
week one are a [ __ ] and I think it was
01:25:35
what nine of the 16 nine of 16 games in
01:25:38
week one were division games. So that's
01:25:41
a tough deal. Um and I think for
01:25:43
especially opposing teams, you know,
01:25:45
going into that stadium week one. So by,
01:25:48
you know, by no means are the lines I
01:25:49
mean it's they're own one. And I think
01:25:51
that's just the reality of the
01:25:53
situation. And um no, you know, coming
01:25:55
out of training camp, you got September
01:25:57
football and things like that. But you
01:25:59
know, the the speed of the game is, you
01:26:00
know, is something you're always very
01:26:02
conscious of as a coach. You know, play
01:26:04
style, getting your play style
01:26:06
established. You know, the time clocks
01:26:08
and both the run protection and pass
01:26:10
game are all things that um you know,
01:26:12
the details of that. Uh but no, by no
01:26:14
means Detroit will be fine.
01:26:16
>> Okay. Uh I think Foxy likes to hear
01:26:18
that. Yeah, absolutely.
01:26:19
>> Love that, coach. I mean, how hard is it
01:26:21
to have a rookie lineman, a secondyear
01:26:22
guy that hasn't played that much on the
01:26:24
line in the week one, and they didn't
01:26:26
get any time in the preeason? How hard
01:26:28
is that for a week one offense?
01:26:30
>> And should they play in the preseason? I
01:26:31
think Foxy would like to know.
01:26:32
>> Yes, definitely want to know.
01:26:34
>> Well, I think the biggest thing is uh
01:26:36
I'd say offensive linemen as a whole uh
01:26:38
have the biggest challenge, you know,
01:26:40
coming out of training camp just from a
01:26:42
the pure training regiments. you know,
01:26:43
if you look at the way, you know, the
01:26:45
offseason programs are are established
01:26:47
now and and definitely the amount of
01:26:49
padded work you can have uh in training
01:26:51
camp, but that's a big challenge. You
01:26:52
know, we had we had two rookie offensive
01:26:55
lineman start last year and, you know,
01:26:56
and the best thing that can happen to
01:26:58
them is they practice every day, keep
01:27:00
playing, get connected with the, you
01:27:01
know, with the other guys. And that that
01:27:03
and that's no different than in Detroit
01:27:05
or any other any of the other teams that
01:27:07
are playing, you know, offensive line
01:27:09
for the first time in year one. They
01:27:11
just got to they got to be honest. They
01:27:12
got to stay healthy. That's the most
01:27:13
important thing. You have to go through
01:27:15
it. It is week one. He'll be better off,
01:27:17
you know, forward as time goes on. But,
01:27:20
um, that's just part of the challenge in
01:27:21
today's NFL.
01:27:22
>> I think that's happening tonight to
01:27:23
Green Bay, right? There's going to be a
01:27:24
couple rookies out there.
01:27:25
>> Uh, well, looks like it second year guy,
01:27:28
one of them. But, uh, he didn't he
01:27:29
didn't play much last year. So, yeah. I
01:27:31
mean, all intents and purposes pretty
01:27:32
much. >> Two young offensive linemen on a short
01:27:35
week. Okay. against Detroit Lions
01:27:37
defense and team that has been kind of
01:27:39
counted out all week. You know, I I
01:27:41
wonder how it'll go for the Green Bay
01:27:43
Packers offense. Did we know that you
01:27:45
were going to be getting introduced back
01:27:46
there? That was awesome. When we saw the
01:27:48
video, it was [ __ ] sweet. So cool.
01:27:50
>> How was this? What was this? And uh we
01:27:52
should have known about this. We should
01:27:53
have been sending congratulations that
01:27:55
you're getting on it. Turn that up.
01:27:58
>> Well, I feel I'm sorry. I failed to
01:28:00
bring it up in the U.
01:28:02
>> Listen to that place.
01:28:04
>> Absolutely.
01:28:11
Hey, that had to be
01:28:13
>> get old, that's for sure.
01:28:15
>> Yeah, tell us about it. What was that?
01:28:17
You're just getting back.
01:28:18
>> Yeah. No, it was a celebration. This is
01:28:20
the uh you know, alumni weekend for the
01:28:23
Packers and was invited to five
01:28:26
celebration. Um and obviously a lot of
01:28:28
guys weren't weren't able to attend for
01:28:30
the timing of it, but it was great. We
01:28:32
had Saturday night. Um, we had a dinner,
01:28:34
a lot of laughs. Uh, I haven't laughed
01:28:36
that that that hard and that long into
01:28:38
the evening in quite some time. So, that
01:28:40
that that was a great time. And then
01:28:42
just to hang out with, you know, the the
01:28:44
players from all the different
01:28:45
generations and and get to see guys we
01:28:47
haven't we obviously haven't seen each
01:28:48
other in quite some time. So, it it it
01:28:50
was really I had a ton of fun. And then
01:28:52
to be honest with you, I didn't know
01:28:53
what to really expect uh with the
01:28:55
halftime. But, you know, I I actually
01:28:57
thought we were just going to walk out
01:28:58
there and as a group and and say hello,
01:29:00
but that that that was obviously very
01:29:02
very special.
01:29:03
>> Okay. So,
01:29:06
man, that had to feel so good getting
01:29:08
out there.
01:29:09
>> Well, that was a loud pop, coach. That's
01:29:11
a loud pop. The head the tip of the cap
01:29:13
is the right play, too, by the way. I
01:29:15
think that's good because it's more
01:29:16
demonstrative. Everybody can see it. I
01:29:18
think that's a good play by you. Natural
01:29:19
in the pocket right there. I think you
01:29:21
did well.
01:29:22
Well, when a hair stands up on the back
01:29:24
of your neck, you got to definitely
01:29:25
acknowledge the crowd. That that was I
01:29:27
was blown away by it. It was It was
01:29:28
definitely special.
01:29:29
>> Well earned, welld deserved for a
01:29:31
Yinszer out there in Green Bay. Go
01:29:32
ahead, AJ.
01:29:34
>> Coach, after week one, I feel like a lot
01:29:35
of these teams, a lot of fan bases freak
01:29:38
out one way or the other. Like if they
01:29:40
if a team lost like, "Oh, we suck. We're
01:29:42
done." And then there's some teams that
01:29:43
get a big home victory and you know,
01:29:45
some of their loudest fans are saying,
01:29:46
"Hey, we're the best. This is the best
01:29:48
team that's ever existed in Indianapolis
01:29:50
right now." and they're going to make a
01:29:52
run and go undefeated and win the Super
01:29:53
Bowl. How do you kind of temper it
01:29:55
either way, I guess, whether you win or
01:29:56
lose week one? Like, how do you not
01:29:58
overreact? >> We don't know.
01:29:59
>> No, I I think that's that's the part of
01:30:01
our job as coaches and players, you
01:30:03
know, just keep it above football. And
01:30:05
that's where I I think I know every team
01:30:07
I've been a part of, you know, that's
01:30:09
that that's why you grind the way you do
01:30:11
and that's why you schedule the way you
01:30:13
you schedule during the week and so
01:30:14
forth. But yeah, that's obviously very
01:30:16
normal. Uh we understand it. you you
01:30:18
love the fans and their energy and so
01:30:20
forth, but you you you got to keep
01:30:21
things in perspective, especially now. I
01:30:23
think I have two linemen out tonight is
01:30:24
a great example why you're not going to
01:30:27
overreact to to a to a big game, a big
01:30:30
NFC football game, and I know we'll talk
01:30:32
about that here in a minute, but it's
01:30:34
it's a long long year and and you have
01:30:36
to keep that in play here. And it's all
01:30:39
about, you know, stacking success and
01:30:41
success sometimes early in season does
01:30:43
doesn't always come with the final
01:30:44
score.
01:30:45
>> Yeah. But with the way Indianapolis
01:30:47
plays, you could see how those people
01:30:50
would be excited. You could see Danny
01:30:54
Dimes.
01:30:56
Dimes. >> He's putting a dime at Danny Dimeson.
01:30:58
>> Quinton Nelson leading, screaming,
01:31:00
talking, motivating. Did you see that,
01:31:01
AJ? Quinton Nelson's a vocal leader of
01:31:04
this Indianapolis Colts team. Danny
01:31:05
Dimes throwing the ball over the yard.
01:31:07
We got a Sasquatch in the first round
01:31:09
out of Ohio State. This guy's
01:31:11
unbelievable. >> He's a rookie and he's a savant already.
01:31:13
And the defense, don't even get me
01:31:15
started. You know about Gaba and Roma.
01:31:19
>> He's got a full sherie board. Wow.
01:31:22
>> Pies on in front of Danny Dimes now.
01:31:24
>> Yeah, Boralini is snapping the ball out
01:31:26
here. I I mean, it's unbelievable. We
01:31:29
got the squad now. Shane Syen's job is
01:31:32
to let all them know that we haven't won
01:31:33
[ __ ] yet, right? That is kind of what
01:31:35
the coach's job and the messaging is. Or
01:31:37
do you hope your culture is already
01:31:38
established and everybody understands
01:31:39
that after week one?
01:31:41
Well, culture never stays the same. So,
01:31:43
that that's all part of the ride. It's
01:31:44
all part of the development and the
01:31:46
maintenance of it. So, um it's it's
01:31:48
obviously great to have that energy. Um
01:31:50
I recall you and I talking about Daniel
01:31:52
Jones, you know, during the draft. Um
01:31:54
I'm I'm I'm excited for him. Did a lot
01:31:56
of work on him back in 2019 and I'm just
01:31:59
happy to see him to have that success
01:32:02
cuz I I think he definitely could be a a
01:32:04
hell of a quarterback in our league.
01:32:05
>> He can run, brother. He can run.
01:32:07
Nobody's talking about him
01:32:08
>> and he can take a shot. Helmet to helmet
01:32:11
first quarter. Who cares? Gets right up.
01:32:13
Wow, that was pretty big little shot
01:32:14
there. Am I going to fle? No flex. Don't
01:32:16
need one. Don't need one. Ty has a
01:32:18
question for you, coach.
01:32:19
>> Coach, you mentioned uh Micah Parsons
01:32:21
was kind of chomping at the bit on
01:32:23
Sunday to get out there. If you're the
01:32:25
head coach of the Packers, if you're
01:32:26
Matt Laflur, how do you handle, you
01:32:29
know, how many snaps he's going to get
01:32:30
tonight? You mentioned, you know, 45% I
01:32:32
think he played 29 of the 65 defensive
01:32:35
plays. How difficult is that when you
01:32:38
have a game like this, you know, on on
01:32:40
prime time and everything? And also
01:32:41
like, you know, he's going to affect the
01:32:43
game, but you also understand, hey, we
01:32:45
have a lot more we want to accomplish
01:32:46
here. And maybe I don't need to be
01:32:49
putting him out there on every single
01:32:50
third down to get after Jaden Daniels.
01:32:53
>> Yeah, I think the biggest thing for for
01:32:55
Matt is that just stick stick to his
01:32:57
plan. I mean, he's going to obviously
01:32:59
have a play count uh plan uh going into
01:33:01
the game and I think obviously make sure
01:33:04
you have plenty of time for the fourth
01:33:06
quarter, you know, to adjust that, you
01:33:07
know, make sure that plan accommodates
01:33:09
that because, you know, trust your
01:33:11
people too. I mean, sports science will
01:33:13
will obviously tell you um you got to
01:33:15
listen to it. It's week two coming off
01:33:17
of a you know, short week obviously
01:33:19
didn't have much time in training camp.
01:33:22
Uh, so you just got to be smart and and
01:33:23
and hey, if if you tell Micah 20, he's
01:33:26
going to want 30. If you tell him 30,
01:33:28
he's going to want 40. So I just think
01:33:30
the most important thing is stick to the
01:33:31
plan. And I think and I think Micah
01:33:33
knows that.
01:33:34
>> I'm excited to see Micah get out there
01:33:36
and get after it. Third downs, he's got
01:33:37
to be out there. Has to be.
01:33:38
>> I mean, third downs, he has to be out
01:33:39
there, especially with Jaden now.
01:33:41
>> Yes. You know. >> Oh yeah, definitely. Definitely. I think
01:33:43
that you go to the first third down in
01:33:45
the game. I mean, he, you know, when he
01:33:47
came onto the field, just the the crowd
01:33:49
erupted and, you know, and he had a
01:33:50
defensive pressure, you know, affected
01:33:52
the time puck. So, um, yeah, definitely.
01:33:55
I mean, I I situationally, I think
01:33:57
you'll definitely see him there.
01:33:58
>> Defensively, what do you do against
01:33:59
Jaden? Were you trying to get the middle
01:34:01
of the puck or you trying to keep him in
01:34:02
pocket? We're trying to keep him in
01:34:03
there. He's got to
01:34:04
>> Well, you got to keep him in. You got to
01:34:05
keep him in there. Number one, you got
01:34:06
to set the edges, you know, uh, speed
01:34:08
the Pire with the anchor, but he is
01:34:10
really good at A and B gaps. uh his a a
01:34:13
and b gap escape is, you know, for a
01:34:15
young guy, as good as I've seen. I mean,
01:34:17
Aaron to me was the best of that I've
01:34:19
seen. And, you know, he he did it
01:34:21
forever from 2008 all the way through.
01:34:23
But that a that A and B gap release you
01:34:25
saw last week on the Thursday night with
01:34:27
Jaylen Herz. I mean, these guys that can
01:34:29
step up and and slide through the A and
01:34:31
B gaps and make big plays. Um that's
01:34:34
that's going to be the huge challenge to
01:34:36
for Green Bay's defensive line who I was
01:34:38
I mean, I thought those guys played
01:34:39
exceptional. you know, I I thought that
01:34:41
um the defensive line for the Packers,
01:34:43
you know, all the way across played
01:34:45
well, but they they got to keep him in
01:34:46
the pocket, especially the rushing yards
01:34:48
that that he can prod produce. And I
01:34:49
think he's been I think he's being very
01:34:51
smart and selective when he does run
01:34:53
too. And um and you know, all the way
01:34:56
around, you know, this is a this is an
01:34:58
offense that's going to move the ball.
01:35:00
You know, ball distribution is I think
01:35:02
is excellent. Uh but his ability to run
01:35:04
is is second level, you know, on top of
01:35:07
this guy can make all the throws, too.
01:35:08
No. So, he is a young special
01:35:10
quarterback.
01:35:11
>> Let's talk about Cliff Kingsbury.
01:35:12
Obviously, he had some hype around
01:35:14
becoming a head coach. He's the offense
01:35:16
coordinator for the Washington Commanders last year. Obviously,
01:35:18
sensational year with the rookie
01:35:19
quarterback. And Jaden Daniels, maybe
01:35:20
the best of all time whenever it comes
01:35:22
to rookie quarterback, especially if
01:35:23
they were able to go on the run that we
01:35:25
all thought they were going to be able
01:35:26
to go on. This year only getting better,
01:35:27
it seems. What is he like as a play
01:35:29
caller? Do you do a diagnosis of all
01:35:31
other play callers or how do you kind of
01:35:34
judge other guys that are making play
01:35:36
calls?
01:35:37
Well, first off, I like to say you got
01:35:38
four really good play callers in in, you
01:35:40
know, in up this week. So, um I thought,
01:35:43
you know, both um you know, Matt Hafley
01:35:46
called a very good game in week one for
01:35:49
the Packers and and same with Joe
01:35:51
Whitten and and Cliff here for for the
01:35:54
for Washington. So, I think all the way
01:35:56
I know that's what I'm going to be
01:35:57
watching, but yeah, I think Cliff does
01:35:59
an exceptional job getting the ball
01:36:01
distributed. I mean, they're perimeter,
01:36:03
they got they got playmakers throughout
01:36:05
the perimeter. Um, and the thing I've
01:36:07
always looked at is the number of rushes
01:36:09
versus completions. And um, you know,
01:36:11
Washington, I think was probably 82% of
01:36:13
their plays last week were were either
01:36:15
rushed or completed. And and I think the
01:36:17
Packers were was even higher, probably
01:36:19
87%. But, uh, you know, they both didn't
01:36:21
have big numbers of total plays. Uh, but
01:36:24
they do a really good job getting the
01:36:25
ball distributed, both Jordan Love and
01:36:27
and J and Jaden.
01:36:29
>> 82% rush and completion percentage for
01:36:31
the Washington Commanders. Probably more
01:36:33
for the Packers. What is like a winning
01:36:35
number there? Is that a stat that you
01:36:36
rely on? >> About 75%. Yeah. Something I mean as a
01:36:39
goal I mean a goal as an offense we
01:36:40
always would talk about you know 72
01:36:43
plays. Our goals if we can get 72 cracks
01:36:45
at the defense we are going to have a
01:36:46
huge day. So obviously you know time of
01:36:49
possession all it benefits your your
01:36:51
your um your whole football team
01:36:54
position keeping your defense off the
01:36:56
field. You know, obviously taking care
01:36:58
of the ball was a priority, but on a 72
01:37:00
play game, 75% of that would be 55. You
01:37:03
know, 55 was always the was the golden
01:37:05
number. If you had rushes plus
01:37:07
completions, it was 55 or more, you're
01:37:10
going to have a big day on offense. So,
01:37:12
the fact that they didn't have a lot of
01:37:14
total plays last week, which which
01:37:15
happens, you know, the kind of games
01:37:17
that they were in, uh, but the fact that
01:37:19
is their their efficiency on offense
01:37:21
both for Washington and Green Bay was
01:37:23
really high. Well, if you can get 55 out
01:37:25
of 72, that's obviously dependent upon
01:37:27
the speed, power, anchoring of the
01:37:29
defensive line. You know what I mean?
01:37:31
So, there's a lot, you know. There you
01:37:33
go.
01:37:35
There you go. A guy you made a lot of
01:37:37
magic with obviously on the offensive
01:37:39
side of the ball, Aaron Rogers, now
01:37:40
started his brand new era in your
01:37:42
hometown of Pittsburgh. Go ahead, Tone.
01:37:44
>> Yeah, coach, I don't know if you've seen
01:37:45
No Big Deal. Aaron is leading the league
01:37:47
in touchdowns. That's four touchdowns,
01:37:49
zero interceptions. Uh, how did you
01:37:51
think the first game for Aaron went? And
01:37:53
how do you think uh him and Arty Smith
01:37:55
kind of went through the game together?
01:37:58
>> I think it went just like his whole
01:37:59
career is gone, you know, touchdowns
01:38:01
versus interceptions. I mean, it's just
01:38:03
it's just amazing, you know, his
01:38:05
discipline, you know, in decision-m. But
01:38:07
no, I thought he looked very
01:38:08
comfortable. Um I I thought he just, you
01:38:10
know, played to the tempo of the
01:38:11
offense. I mean, the only negative was
01:38:13
the sacks, but I mean, he just has to
01:38:15
get a feel for those guys because as I t
01:38:18
touched on earlier, you know, the A and
01:38:19
B gap release in the pass game. I mean,
01:38:22
you know, that's that's a huge strength
01:38:23
of his. So, uh, but yeah, I thought
01:38:25
those guys I thought they definitely
01:38:27
looked on the same page and he looked
01:38:29
really comfortable on the offense.
01:38:30
>> Yeah. And he was happy to get a win
01:38:32
against the Jets.
01:38:33
>> I'll tell you that. We uh that's what I
01:38:34
heard.
01:38:35
>> Yeah.
01:38:37
>> Yeah. Yeah. He was pretty pumped up
01:38:39
about it, brother. Uh Connor has a
01:38:40
question for you, Mike. Yeah, coach. Uh,
01:38:43
young quarterback, I won't say rookie.
01:38:44
We've been saying rookie, but it was his
01:38:46
first career start and he missed his
01:38:47
entire rookie year. Uh, JJ McCarthy in
01:38:50
prime time. He had about two and a half,
01:38:53
three quarters of absolute shits, but
01:38:55
then he turned it on, you know, turned
01:38:57
the whole game around uh and ended up
01:38:59
winning for the Vikings. What did you
01:39:01
think about his first performance? Did
01:39:03
you expect kind of a slow start and then
01:39:05
for him to settle in? And when you were
01:39:07
a coach and you were dealing with
01:39:09
quarterbacks, you know, whether it was
01:39:11
their first year or first start or, you
01:39:13
know, first start with a new team, was
01:39:15
there any advice you would give some of
01:39:17
the younger quarterbacks, you know, some
01:39:18
tricks of the trade maybe, um, while you
01:39:21
were coaching some of those younger
01:39:22
guys?
01:39:24
>> Um, yeah, I'll just work backwards
01:39:25
first. I think you you definitely coach
01:39:27
it. Um, you you you definitely want your
01:39:29
guys to, you know, make that first
01:39:31
impression when you do have the rookie
01:39:32
quarterback. Um, you know, I I just
01:39:35
remember the one story we had Alex Smith
01:39:37
in San Francisco and and um and Mike
01:39:40
Nolan wanted to make sure he made a huge
01:39:42
impression on the offensive guys in the
01:39:44
first mini camp. So, we had spent a
01:39:47
bunch of time with him, you know, prior
01:39:48
to that mini camp. Um, and then when he
01:39:51
first stepped in the huddle, you can
01:39:52
almost look at the other quarterbacks
01:39:53
because he, you know, technically wasn't
01:39:55
on campus, uh, at that time. So, uh,
01:39:58
when he stepped in the huddle and was
01:40:00
able to communicate very well that, you
01:40:01
know, he he he definitely made that
01:40:02
first impression. So, it's something
01:40:04
that you're very very cognizant of, um,
01:40:06
and and you know, as you go through it
01:40:09
is it it gives it gives the young man
01:40:11
opportunity to to really express
01:40:13
himself. And that's that's really what I
01:40:15
would go to is is be yourself within
01:40:17
your personality. But, you know, the
01:40:19
command is is critical for the offense
01:40:22
and and especially for young
01:40:24
quarterbacks. And going back to the
01:40:25
first part of the question, you know, I
01:40:27
didn't see the early part of the game.
01:40:28
Frankly, I actually uh when I got home,
01:40:31
um I actually saw the all, you know, all
01:40:33
the good stuff for for Minnesota. And I
01:40:36
just uh you know, I just think back of
01:40:38
my conversation up there. You know, I
01:40:40
went to the Michigan Pro Day last or two
01:40:42
years ago when JJ and that whole group
01:40:44
was coming out and and it just made me
01:40:46
uh think of all the things that have
01:40:48
been said about him. you know, all the
01:40:51
great things that have been said about
01:40:52
him this week is, you know, I had a
01:40:53
conversation with with Jack Harbaugh,
01:40:55
Mr. Jack Harbaugh, and, you know, I
01:40:57
think anytime, you know, Mr. Jack or
01:41:00
Mrs. Jackie Harbaugh speak, I always
01:41:02
listen. And, um, Mr. Harbaugh was just
01:41:04
talking about how the kid is loved by
01:41:07
everybody in the university. Um, he
01:41:09
would, you know, play baseball with his
01:41:11
grandson up at the, uh, indoor facility
01:41:14
in the winter. But, I mean, he's just
01:41:16
that guy, you know, he was that guy at
01:41:18
Michigan. and uh you know and that
01:41:20
always to me always plays well in the
01:41:23
leadership role in the locker room with
01:41:25
your teammates and so forth. So it was
01:41:27
nice to see him get off you know not get
01:41:29
off to that start but have that kind of
01:41:32
have have that kind of those kind of
01:41:33
moments in a game because you know
01:41:34
that's now you know that's a standard
01:41:36
that I know he will hold himself to and
01:41:38
obviously that's a that's a big day for
01:41:40
the Minnesota Vikings.
01:41:41
>> Jack Harbaugh who's got it better than
01:41:43
usbody.
01:41:47
And then you think about Jim Harbaugh
01:41:48
being JJ's coach. The amount of things
01:41:50
that he has said in leadership and
01:41:52
framing and mentality and then the story
01:41:54
comes out about JJ in the huddle saying,
01:41:56
"Is there anywhere else you'd rather be,
01:41:58
boys?" Yeah, that's what I thought.
01:41:59
Little Jack Harbaugh in him, you know,
01:42:01
maybe a little maybe a little Jim
01:42:03
Harbaugh in him throughout its entirety.
01:42:05
It was fun to watch him. Okay, tonight
01:42:07
three and a half point spread. Coach
01:42:09
Mike McCarthy. Now, you didn't make an
01:42:11
official pick last week. You won't make
01:42:13
an official pick this week, but you
01:42:15
leaned heavily into an undefeated start
01:42:17
in picking games. Just want to let you
01:42:19
know that. Uh three and a half points is
01:42:21
what Washington is getting in Lambo. Uh
01:42:24
if you were a friend of yours, uh like
01:42:26
let's say I don't know if you consider
01:42:28
us friends, but let's say me.
01:42:29
>> Yeah.
01:42:30
>> Okay. And you were to be advising me on
01:42:33
how you think this game goes. What would
01:42:35
your prediction of the game be if that
01:42:38
was the case?
01:42:40
Well, I I definitely got to put
01:42:41
everything out here. You know, I'm I'm
01:42:42
I'm technically a fan this year. So, I
01:42:45
got three teams I'm really rooting for
01:42:47
as a fan, you know, Pittsburgh, Green
01:42:49
Bay, and Dallas. So, those those are my
01:42:51
those are three teams I'm really okay
01:42:53
>> watching closely. Um but as a pure um
01:42:58
teammate of your show
01:43:00
>> um I I think number one this is going to
01:43:01
be a hell of an FC game and not
01:43:04
>> and not too many times you know
01:43:05
especially when you think about as a
01:43:07
player coach they go man you know week
01:43:09
two could have playoff implications and
01:43:11
you know I think this game when you look
01:43:13
at Washington you know you think about
01:43:16
you know NFC championship game you got a
01:43:18
playoff team and an older team an
01:43:20
established team I really like the way
01:43:22
they played in week one I thought they
01:43:24
established their play style. I thought
01:43:25
they were fast. I thought they were
01:43:27
physical. I mean, you know what you're
01:43:28
going to get. And uh but also being
01:43:30
there live, watching Green Bay, um
01:43:34
watching Green Bay last week, you know,
01:43:35
I I think I was really really impressed
01:43:37
with their team speed and the way they
01:43:39
were flying around. I love Jordan Love,
01:43:41
especially early in the game. I thought
01:43:42
Matt did an excellent job sticking with
01:43:44
the run, you know, after they struggled
01:43:46
a little bit in the first half. So, I
01:43:48
mean, this is going to be about stopping
01:43:49
the run. I think both both teams are
01:43:51
definitely going to have to stop the
01:43:52
run. Green Bay is going to have to keep
01:43:54
Jaden, you know, in keep his rushing
01:43:56
yards down to have success, but it it's
01:43:59
at Lambeau Field and um I think it's
01:44:01
gonna be a great night for the Green and
01:44:02
Gold.
01:44:03
>> Okay. All right. We appreciate that. We
01:44:05
will read into that exactly how I think
01:44:08
Tone was reading into that to make
01:44:09
himself feel a little bit better. Uh we
01:44:12
appreciate the hell out of you, coach.
01:44:13
Thanks for the AJ Hawk photo in the
01:44:15
back. Thanks for the great lighting. You
01:44:17
look cool again. I mean, you're really
01:44:18
crushing it for us.
01:44:20
>> Just trying to fit in. Just I got to get
01:44:22
some black shirts it looks like. But
01:44:24
trying to fit in trying to hang out with
01:44:26
the guy,
01:44:27
>> ladies and gentlemen. That's good.
01:44:29
>> Great golf.
01:44:30
>> That's observance.
01:44:32
>> You It definitely helped me a little
01:44:34
bit. Let's be honest.
01:44:35
>> I'm not saying that that was you. That
01:44:37
was >> Yeah. Get mom on the internet here.
01:44:41
>> Ladies and gentlemen, Super Bowl winning
01:44:42
coach Mike McCarthy.
01:44:46
>> It's gonna be a good night for a green
01:44:47
goal here.
01:44:48
>> You think he's going to the game again?
01:44:50
>> He's the man. Uh, good question. I don't
01:44:52
know. I mean,
01:44:53
>> such a good game.
01:44:54
>> AJ, why weren't you at that? I didn't
01:44:55
want to bring it up in front of your
01:44:56
coach, but
01:44:57
>> I texted with him beforehand. Yeah. Uh,
01:44:59
no, you know, I had we got a lot of kids
01:45:01
games and stuff happen on weekend, so I
01:45:03
couldn't get there. >> Would love to make all the alumni would
01:45:06
love >> maybe like maybe November, December,
01:45:08
it's a little easier to get there on
01:45:09
Sunday.
01:45:10
>> I that happens a lot. A lot of so many
01:45:12
things like, "Hey, we're doing a blah
01:45:14
blah blah blah blah." And I feel like
01:45:15
the biggest [ __ ] of all time. And
01:45:17
then whenever they're there and I'm
01:45:19
wherever I'm at, which I certainly could
01:45:20
not make it, uh, get a couple texts
01:45:23
making me feel bad about it. And then
01:45:24
it's always like, man, you don't think I
01:45:25
wish I was much rather there. Now,
01:45:27
there's a couple times
01:45:28
>> sometimes you get a chance to hang out
01:45:30
with the daughter a little bit. You miss
01:45:31
it all. You wouldn't do that. But it's
01:45:33
like, that seemed like a magical weekend
01:45:35
there. How about Mike McCarthy getting a
01:45:36
chance for the first time probably whole
01:45:39
career to just like kind of reap a an
01:45:43
applause
01:45:44
>> that he had definitely sewed for years
01:45:45
and years there in Green Bay. and now
01:45:47
he's calling the place home. That had to
01:45:49
feel so good for him. I'm happy that
01:45:50
happened for him.
01:45:51
>> Yeah, that was awesome. You heard it.
01:45:52
>> Especially the way he let like and it
01:45:55
wasn't even really his fault. It's just
01:45:57
you know things kind of ran their
01:45:59
course. There was always the uh the
01:46:02
stories about like him and Aaron stopped
01:46:04
getting along or you know whatever the
01:46:05
case may be. And he did kind of have
01:46:08
like an unceremonious exit from Green
01:46:11
Bay which wasn't necessarily fair. a lot
01:46:13
of fans kind of [ __ ] on him on the way
01:46:15
out because that was one of the years
01:46:17
that uh you know the Packers I think
01:46:19
were like five and nine maybe or
01:46:21
something like that and they fired him
01:46:23
during the season and and Joe Filin was
01:46:25
the interim coach for the rest of the
01:46:27
way. So the fact that he got to come
01:46:29
back and celebrate like that and also
01:46:31
the fact that the Packers were kicking
01:46:33
the Lions ass. So like the environment
01:46:36
in the stadium on top of this like it it
01:46:39
was just it was a perfect day. Like I'm
01:46:40
super happy for him. It was awesome.
01:46:42
>> Yeah. Good for the Packers getting a
01:46:43
chance to celebrate the boys, AJ. I
01:46:44
assume a lot of your friends were there
01:46:46
getting a chance to get recognized.
01:46:48
>> Oh yeah, I was getting texts from him.
01:46:49
But yeah, you I like that that coach can
01:46:51
like he accepted like you we're telling
01:46:53
him, "Hey, this is awesome." And he's
01:46:54
he's not trying to deflect or whatever.
01:46:56
He's very humble dude, but he's like,
01:46:58
"Yeah, this was amazing." He said, it
01:47:00
doesn't get old, obviously. I think it's
01:47:02
really I think it's really cool that he
01:47:04
like he understands. He's like, "Yeah,
01:47:06
this place is amazing. That's why I
01:47:07
moved back here." Like he lives there
01:47:09
now. It's pretty sweet. the hair
01:47:10
standing up on his neck. He said, you
01:47:11
know, it's like, well, I had to do
01:47:12
something.
01:47:14
>> My body was like, yo, don't look at
01:47:16
this.
01:47:17
>> The hairs up. Okay, I'll do it.
01:47:20
>> Would have been cool if Aaron could have
01:47:21
been there, but he's too busy throwing
01:47:22
four touchdown passes.
01:47:23
>> Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is
01:47:25
a man who uh could probably sling four
01:47:28
touchdown passes right now if he had to.
01:47:30
If not him, at least Darren.
01:47:32
>> Yeah. >> Yeah. Four. Yeah. Okay. Double it.
01:47:35
>> 10.
01:47:36
>> Yeah. with with 250 on the ground.
01:47:39
>> Derrick Henry high school numbers.
01:47:41
>> Bingo. >> 55 touchdowns in one season.
01:47:44
>> That's what this guy could do. This guy
01:47:46
happens to know this guy. This guy also
01:47:49
talks to that guy.
01:47:50
>> This guy is kind of the other guy.
01:47:52
>> This guy is the other guy whenever it
01:47:53
comes to this particular setting. He's
01:47:55
also the voice of Thursday Night
01:47:57
Football on Prime alongside Al Michaels.
01:47:59
Kicking off every NFL weekend for us in
01:48:02
a wonderful fashion. Ladies and
01:48:04
gentlemen, commentating a huge game
01:48:06
tonight and then we'll have an
01:48:07
electrifying weekend both at game day in
01:48:11
Tennessee, Georgia. Ladies and
01:48:12
gentlemen, Kirk Herbstre,
01:48:14
[Applause]
01:48:16
>> how we doing, boys?
01:48:18
>> I like Okay, so where you're at a hotel
01:48:20
in Green Bay right now? We got some
01:48:23
great >> I'll give you I'll give you the I'll
01:48:24
give you the the view here.
01:48:26
>> Oh, yeah. I know where he's at. We know
01:48:27
where that is.
01:48:29
>> AJ tracked your tail number.
01:48:31
>> No, I know what hotel it does that. Oh,
01:48:33
okay. Okay, Peter.
01:48:37
>> Love that.
01:48:38
>> All right. How about this? There you go.
01:48:40
>> That's the hotel we were in for the
01:48:41
draft, isn't it?
01:48:46
>> History right there, brother.
01:48:47
>> And by the way, look look at the look at
01:48:50
the weather.
01:48:51
>> I mean, AJ Ty, can it get any better?
01:48:54
>> No. >> Wow. Hey, where's those? Oh, zoom in on
01:48:57
him. What you're looking at here is a
01:48:59
place that was basically one of the
01:49:02
front runners of leading the way for the
01:49:04
NFL's growth and development. Their
01:49:06
passion, their fan, their history, the
01:49:09
historic Lambo field with Steve Sable in
01:49:11
the NFL films became the standard of
01:49:14
television and production for a sport
01:49:16
and a league saying Curly Lambo way back
01:49:19
in the day had a vision of all these
01:49:20
things. And now they're hosting Thursday
01:49:23
Night Football on a streaming service.
01:49:25
>> Wow.
01:49:26
>> Times have changed.
01:49:27
>> This is the future. This is everything.
01:49:30
How do you feel about tonight's game? We
01:49:31
just got done talking to Mike McCarthy.
01:49:32
He feels good about the green and gold.
01:49:33
He will be going to the game. I hope you
01:49:35
get a chance to say hello. He is a
01:49:37
Yinszer legend obviously. Good guy.
01:49:39
Loves ball. Loves the Green Bay area and
01:49:41
loves the Packers. You love Jaden
01:49:43
Daniels coming out of college. You
01:49:44
actually told us, "Hey, the one nobody's
01:49:47
talking about right now is Jaden
01:49:48
Daniels. He's going to be the guy. It
01:49:49
was Army Navy game. We're in the parking
01:49:51
lot in Foxboro and you said it and it
01:49:53
end up being very true last year and it
01:49:55
seems like it's only going to continue
01:49:56
and grow. How do you think tonight goes
01:49:59
and who do you think should be getting a
01:50:00
little bit more of the conversation?
01:50:03
>> Uh this this game I you know I think
01:50:05
Micah Parson's coming in adds to the
01:50:07
intrigue but but I think even before
01:50:09
that this game is about as good as you
01:50:12
could hope for for us you know for our
01:50:14
opening game to start our season. Uh,
01:50:17
you mentioned Jaden Daniels, every you
01:50:19
know, this is a team that went all the
01:50:20
way to the NFC Championship game a year
01:50:21
ago and and Dan Quinn's first year just
01:50:24
changed this really the the tra
01:50:27
trajectory of the franchise and and I
01:50:29
think having Jaden Daniels has obviously
01:50:32
helped, but you bring over Debo Samuel
01:50:34
now for Cliff Kingsbury, another weapon,
01:50:36
another opportunity to kind of move him
01:50:38
around. Um, good news is Terry McLaren
01:50:42
is is locked in and I was just talking
01:50:44
to to Jaden this week about just trying
01:50:46
to get the timing down and they've spent
01:50:48
a lot of time after practice to try to
01:50:50
get some makeup reps to try to get
01:50:51
things right and they're going up
01:50:53
against I don't know about you guys that
01:50:55
opening weekend that was the best
01:50:57
defensive effort not only of the weekend
01:51:00
but probably the best the Green Bay
01:51:02
Packers have looked as a unit in a long
01:51:05
long time. I know
01:51:06
>> 10 years, 15 years.
01:51:08
>> I mean, you're going to I think a lot of
01:51:09
people are going to point to Michael
01:51:10
Parsons, but I I think it's Jeff Hafley
01:51:13
and the com combination of just second
01:51:15
year in the system. The entire every
01:51:17
time I stopped the film, there's 11
01:51:19
green jerseys flying to the football and
01:51:22
I think Parson's um helped you really
01:51:26
get this stadium engaged and and Mike
01:51:29
Ban back probably helped with that. But
01:51:30
it was as an electric of atmosphere. In
01:51:33
fact, Matt Laflur told me this week that
01:51:35
it's been a long time since he's heard
01:51:37
the stadium that loud, if ever, since
01:51:38
he's been the head coach. So, there's a
01:51:40
lot of juice right now in Green Bay.
01:51:42
There's a lot of belief. Jordan Love has
01:51:44
really grown up. You know, he sat there
01:51:46
behind a Hall of Famer for three years
01:51:48
and very proud, by the way, from what he
01:51:50
told me this week to be able to sit
01:51:51
there for three years and learn from
01:51:53
Aaron. And then, you know, he was kind
01:51:55
of a a young guy and and not only was he
01:51:58
young, but a lot of young pieces around
01:52:00
him. And now these guys have all had an
01:52:03
opportunity to work together for these
01:52:05
last couple years. And now in his third
01:52:07
year as a starter, they've grown and I
01:52:10
think they are now a a team not only
01:52:13
that's going to be fun to watch tonight,
01:52:15
but as Ty will tell you, I think all
01:52:16
year. I think they're a legit uh NFC
01:52:19
championship contender. I think if they
01:52:21
can stay healthy, I think the defense is
01:52:23
real. Um, and I think with this offense
01:52:25
now in the third year of of Matt along
01:52:28
with with Jordan Love and the pieces
01:52:30
that they have, don't be shocked. I
01:52:32
mean, Matthew Golden is a guy that um,
01:52:35
you know, I think when you go back to
01:52:37
the draft, a lot of people were talking
01:52:38
about a lot of different guys. Golden to
01:52:41
me, I don't know if it'll happen
01:52:42
tonight, but at some point that I think
01:52:45
he's going to be a guy that could
01:52:46
potentially be in the Rookie of the Year
01:52:47
conversation. I think he's a guy that
01:52:49
could be electrifying.
01:52:51
uh ridiculous ball skills and you put
01:52:54
him into this system with the p the
01:52:56
pieces that they have. Uh I'm excited to
01:52:59
see what he can do. But then again, he's
01:53:01
going up against a defense that's that's
01:53:03
got a lot of new faces up front. I don't
01:53:05
know if you saw Ken Law last week. Holy
01:53:08
cow, just a game wrecker. Finally
01:53:11
healthy. Um so yeah, there's a lot.
01:53:14
Dude, this is this is excited as I've
01:53:16
been for a a Thursday night game in a
01:53:19
long time. >> Let's go. We like that. You talked about
01:53:22
Lafur talking about the environment
01:53:24
being the loudest it's ever been. He has
01:53:26
tried to get that stadium
01:53:28
>> since he got there. He is a big one of
01:53:30
these guys, you know. He's a big one of
01:53:32
these in his pants with the eyebrows
01:53:34
looking unbelievable. He will be super
01:53:37
intense. He will do this one here. He
01:53:39
understands the value of a good home
01:53:41
field advantage. And I was told that
01:53:43
when Michael went out there, the pop was
01:53:45
outrageous. I mean, it was like a huge
01:53:48
welcoming into it all. And then whenever
01:53:49
he went out for the first third down,
01:53:51
Mike McCarthy said, "A soon as he went
01:53:52
out there for first third down, the
01:53:53
place won got his sack, the place
01:53:55
>> went absolutely crazy." And then the
01:53:57
boys went crazy, too. It's like the
01:53:58
vibes feel like very, very good for
01:54:01
them. And if you're the Washington
01:54:02
Commanders, they held the Giants to how
01:54:04
many points last week?
01:54:05
>> Six.
01:54:06
>> Six points.
01:54:07
>> They got to feel damn good about where
01:54:09
they're at. And talking about feeling
01:54:10
good,
01:54:11
>> Amazon should feel great about this.
01:54:13
Yeah. And this is uh I'm pumped for you
01:54:15
guys. I we are all very pumped for you
01:54:17
guys that this game is happening. Go
01:54:19
ahead, AJ.
01:54:20
>> Yeah, Kirk, I don't know if the coaches
01:54:22
uh you know give you any insight when
01:54:23
you have your production meetings, but
01:54:24
the Packers offensive line's a bit
01:54:26
banged up. Going to have some some new
01:54:28
guys in there that maybe not not a ton
01:54:29
of experience together. What do you
01:54:31
think they do to try to help those guys
01:54:33
out if uh you know to maybe slow down
01:54:35
this Washington rush? And are is Josh
01:54:37
Jacobs going to be able to to find a way
01:54:39
to to pick up some some valuable yardage
01:54:41
on the ground?
01:54:42
>> Not surprised. You're all over it. It's
01:54:44
a huge story. Zack Tom, especially the
01:54:46
right tackle. It's really sad that, you
01:54:48
know, he ends up getting injured on a
01:54:50
play that didn't even count. You know,
01:54:51
the potential pick six that uh Aiden
01:54:54
Hutcherson pushed Jordan Love into him.
01:54:55
He goes down and I think it's going to
01:54:57
be a game time decision. They're very
01:54:59
very hopeful obviously that he can go,
01:55:01
but if he's down, he cannot go.
01:55:04
Significant loss. Jordan Morgan also may
01:55:06
have to go in and play some guard. Uh
01:55:08
Darien Canard who had I think he's had
01:55:10
one start in his career. That was last
01:55:12
year where he gave Lane Johnson a little
01:55:14
bit of a break at week 18 in Philly. He
01:55:17
if if Zack Tom can't go, he'll probably
01:55:20
be the guy that ends up starting.
01:55:22
Anthony Belton who's a rookie as well.
01:55:24
Uh kid out of NC State probably get some
01:55:26
reps. But that is a big time concern. Um
01:55:30
this is an offense that wants to be
01:55:31
balanced. last week you you saw what
01:55:33
they can do uh throwing the football,
01:55:35
but if you really watch these guys, Josh
01:55:38
Jacobs, I don't know if you could
01:55:39
handpick a better back because of his
01:55:41
physicality, because of the weather as
01:55:43
the seasons change, um he is a perfect
01:55:46
fit for what uh the floor likes to do.
01:55:48
But that line of scrimmage, I think, is
01:55:51
a massive uh conversation tonight,
01:55:53
especially if they're dinged up going
01:55:55
against Payne and Kenlaw and Armstrong
01:55:57
and Wise. Dan Quinn said, "Hey, we got
01:56:00
all the way to the NFC Championship
01:56:01
game, but we had to make some changes."
01:56:04
They brought in four guys to that
01:56:06
defensive line. They upgraded a corner.
01:56:08
So, this is going to be a real test.
01:56:11
This is kind of a litmus test to really
01:56:12
find out how much Washington has
01:56:15
improved as a unit and especially on the
01:56:17
defensive side of the ball and uh
01:56:18
against this Green Bay offense.
01:56:20
>> Dan Quinn always has good deeds. You
01:56:21
would assume the whole Giants to six. I
01:56:23
assume they're going to want to hunt
01:56:25
tonight, especially if there's a couple
01:56:26
guys out on offensive line. Offensive
01:56:28
line not good, nothing good. That is
01:56:30
just the story of every single game.
01:56:32
Last question about tonight before we
01:56:33
move on to different subjects. Go ahead,
01:56:35
Ty. >> Yeah, Herby, a lot of people are talking
01:56:36
about various different things. Packers
01:56:38
offense, Micah, Jaden Daniels, etc.,
01:56:40
etc., but no one's really talking about
01:56:42
Bill Crosky Merritt. Uh, and you know,
01:56:45
no one really knew who this guy was when
01:56:47
he got drafted. They trade Brian
01:56:50
Robinson. He gets the lion share of the
01:56:52
carries on Sunday and he looked
01:56:55
unbelievable. like how big of an impact
01:56:57
do you think he's going to have not only
01:56:59
tonight but the whole year on this uh
01:57:02
this team's offense?
01:57:03
>> I think it's huge and and I and I I
01:57:05
don't know if he just as Bill straight
01:57:07
up Bill I I was talking to the to to
01:57:09
their coaches about you know Jakori
01:57:10
Kroski Merritt who was Arizona and only
01:57:13
played one game last year because the
01:57:15
eligibility issues and by the way when
01:57:17
he only got to play one game they're
01:57:19
trying to figure out the eligibility
01:57:20
issues in Tucson. Dude's down at the
01:57:22
scout team running against the first
01:57:24
team defense trying to instead of just
01:57:26
saying this is BS, why am I doing this?
01:57:28
He's kind of gives you a little bit
01:57:30
about his attitude. Typical seventh
01:57:31
round draft pick, playing with a chip on
01:57:33
his shoulder, runs hungry and with
01:57:36
Eckler more of a third down guy and with
01:57:39
Brian Robinson who's who's obviously no
01:57:41
longer here. They moved him. It's it's a
01:57:44
huge story. And this guy kind of came
01:57:46
out of nowhere, won the job essentially
01:57:48
in camp. And it's one of these feel-good
01:57:51
stories because of his his story and
01:57:53
where he came from. But guy didn't play
01:57:55
hardly at all. Nobody including the Mel
01:57:57
Kypers of the world probably as much as
01:57:59
they they build their list of the draft.
01:58:01
Not a whole lot of people knew much
01:58:03
about this guy but who goes by the just
01:58:04
the name Bill. Um no last name, just
01:58:07
call me Bill. Um, but tonight if they're
01:58:11
if they're going to if they're going to
01:58:12
do their thing offensive, as much as
01:58:14
we're going to focus in on Jaden
01:58:16
Daniels, our our boy Bill 22 is is going
01:58:19
to have to be featured and have to have
01:58:20
a big night.
01:58:21
>> All right, last question. Uh, before we
01:58:23
head to the digital world of YouTube.
01:58:26
Uh,
01:58:27
>> oh, what's the clock say?
01:58:29
>> Got three minutes. Got three minutes.
01:58:30
>> Okay.
01:58:31
>> But,
01:58:32
>> it's worthy of a good three minutes. We
01:58:34
We'll obviously wrap this thing up in
01:58:36
about two minutes and 30 seconds talking
01:58:37
about tonight's game. Sure.
01:58:38
>> And we will expect you to give some sort
01:58:40
of lean even though I'm calling a game.
01:58:42
I can't pick it. Okay. All right. Yeah.
01:58:44
I hate that. But let's talk about big
01:58:46
weekend for college, especially for us.
01:58:48
Go ahead, Tone.
01:58:49
>> Yeah. Herbert, you guys are going to
01:58:50
Knoxville, Tennessee, where Georgia has
01:58:52
had their number the last eight, I
01:58:53
believe. And Hypo hasn't been good
01:58:55
against Kirby since he's been there. But
01:58:57
do you think there's a chance that this
01:58:58
year with this new Tennessee offense
01:59:00
with Agalar has a has a chance against
01:59:02
the the dogs?
01:59:05
>> Tony, I love your college football
01:59:06
knowledge. I I I love it, man. You uh I
01:59:10
know you know the NFL inside and out,
01:59:11
but I love how you you get knee deep in
01:59:13
the college world. I
01:59:15
>> waste
01:59:16
>> I'm I'm really falling in love with
01:59:18
Aguilar. I I I don't know if it's be
01:59:20
just because of the circumstances. I I
01:59:22
turned on the film this week, you know,
01:59:24
getting ready for this game, getting
01:59:25
ready for that game, and I I was excited
01:59:27
to kind of look at Georgia and Tennessee
01:59:29
because they just been a little bit both
01:59:30
these teams a bit off the radar these
01:59:32
first couple weeks. Let me tell you that
01:59:35
this offense of Tennessee's is they've
01:59:38
reloaded out at wide receiver. Um they
01:59:41
they got some new backs, obviously a new
01:59:43
quarterback, but they're still running
01:59:44
that Josh Hypel scheme. But this is
01:59:46
Georgia, right? And this is a this is
01:59:48
where you really find out where you are
01:59:51
as an offense. But what he's doing and
01:59:54
for the guy that went from App State to
01:59:56
UCLA, then Nico comes to UCLA, he goes
01:59:59
to Knoxville. the guy again, two weeks
02:00:01
in, seems to be in complete command.
02:00:04
Just a guy, it's the NIL transfer portal
02:00:07
era. Um, looks to be a guy that you kind
02:00:09
of know what you're going to get, but
02:00:11
Josh Hypel's done great work with him up
02:00:13
to this point, but this will be a big
02:00:16
test because, man, when I turned on the
02:00:17
film to look at Georgia because there's
02:00:19
a lot of new faces on that Georgia
02:00:21
defense, they are still recruiting and
02:00:24
developing. Wow, they can fly. They're
02:00:27
physical, athletic. they've just
02:00:30
completely reloaded and they can get
02:00:31
after it. So, great game. Being in
02:00:34
Knoxville obviously gives them an
02:00:36
advantage, but historically since Hypel
02:00:38
has been in Knoxville, he has struggled
02:00:41
against Kirby Smart defense. So, they
02:00:44
got to come up with some answers this
02:00:45
week even though this game's at home.
02:00:46
But Georgia, man, I feel like people are
02:00:48
forgetting a little bit about Georgia,
02:00:50
forgetting a little bit about Oregon as
02:00:52
far as like who are teams that can make
02:00:54
a run and be there at the end. And um I
02:00:57
I think Georgia this week will be fun to
02:00:59
kind of really see where they are
02:01:00
because this will be a good test for
02:01:01
them obviously going on the road in
02:01:03
Knoxville.
02:01:04
>> Yeah, I think for both of them it's a
02:01:05
hello to the entire world, you know,
02:01:07
like hey remember us and tonight it's a
02:01:09
hello from the Commanders and the
02:01:11
Packers with Kirk Herbstreet on the call
02:01:13
alongside Al and Kayie Hartung. We'll
02:01:15
see you then. Yeah. Yeah, we got there.
02:01:19
>> Good answer by you.
02:01:20
>> Good answer by you as well. Good answer
02:01:22
by you
02:01:23
>> by the way. really really appreciated
02:01:26
your uh your tweet under you know the
02:01:29
the last 24 hours what's you know 911
02:01:32
today what happened yesterday I I
02:01:34
thought your your words of what you said
02:01:37
about yesterday I I I've looked at a lot
02:01:40
of things that that was about as well
02:01:43
stated as I think anything and it's it's
02:01:45
really hard to put your your your your
02:01:49
thoughts together you know like how do
02:01:51
you even express how you're feeling
02:01:53
thing, but I of all the things I've I've
02:01:56
seen that was about as well said as as
02:01:58
any of them. So, I appreciate you
02:02:00
putting that out there.
02:02:01
>> Well, thanks, man. It's obviously not
02:02:02
easy. I felt an obligation, you know,
02:02:04
because like
02:02:05
>> yeah,
02:02:06
>> I I legitimately did because
02:02:08
>> what he I didn't know him. Okay. I
02:02:10
didn't He followed us, which I learned.
02:02:13
>> He He follow He followed a lot of people
02:02:15
though, hundred some thousand. He didn't
02:02:16
have information on everything from
02:02:18
watching. He needed to know everything
02:02:20
about everything. and he had some sports
02:02:22
takes that I had seen in the past, but
02:02:23
just like being the guy that's kind of
02:02:25
known as I want to go talk to people I
02:02:28
don't agree with it like that is
02:02:30
something that we need I think you know
02:02:31
so I was always like
02:02:33
>> pretty inspired by that doesn't mean
02:02:34
that every word that comes out of his
02:02:36
mouth is something that I'm going to
02:02:37
yeah yeah but it's like also
02:02:40
>> my kid my kids know him better than I do
02:02:42
I I obviously you know seen some of his
02:02:44
stuff over the over the uh the last few
02:02:46
years but I'm with you I I think it
02:02:49
comes to you From what I understand, you
02:02:51
know, he'd go on these college campuses
02:02:53
and it was basically an open mic and
02:02:55
people would go up there and give them
02:02:57
an opportunity to to uh to get into a
02:03:00
conversation. A lot of times a debate
02:03:02
and um it's crazy, you know, the the the
02:03:05
world that we uh we're currently living
02:03:07
in. So divisive and just so it's hard to
02:03:10
to really understand it a lot of times.
02:03:13
So I just thought that your uh your
02:03:15
words were were well put together and
02:03:17
>> thanks, man. Like I said, I I I don't I
02:03:20
never really followed politics my whole
02:03:22
life. You know, AJ and I from
02:03:24
Centerville, we all we did was played
02:03:26
football and, you know, we we loved each
02:03:29
other and and you know, we we cared
02:03:31
about each other and I didn't really get
02:03:33
caught up in a lot of that that stuff.
02:03:35
And seems like since 2020, it's been uh
02:03:39
very radical, you know, one way or the
02:03:41
other. And man, it's it's wild when you
02:03:43
don't really partake in that. And then
02:03:46
uh to to see how how crazy it can be.
02:03:48
It's either one's what seems to be one
02:03:50
extreme or the other. And it seems like
02:03:52
when I was growing up, everything was
02:03:54
more in the middle. Kind of agreed a
02:03:56
little bit here, kind of agreed a little
02:03:58
bit here. Everybody lived in the middle.
02:04:00
And now it just seems like it's really
02:04:04
uh out there on both sides. So
02:04:06
>> I agree. And everybody feels as if they
02:04:08
have to one up the other person that
02:04:09
they feel the most that way. I feel like
02:04:10
that has become like a complex on the
02:04:12
internet. I think like
02:04:14
>> people want to prove that they're the
02:04:15
most this, you know, from both sides.
02:04:18
And I've been dropped into a fire,
02:04:20
political fire multiple times.
02:04:22
>> And I've had both sides,
02:04:25
>> you know, kind of come in there. And I
02:04:27
always joke that the only thing I really
02:04:30
know about politics is that they yell at
02:04:31
each other all the time. That they just
02:04:32
yell at each other all the time. And
02:04:34
it's like at some point we got to get to
02:04:36
the realization. And with all the
02:04:38
information we have nowadays, we have to
02:04:41
get to the point that we understand that
02:04:42
we're going to disagree with people and
02:04:44
then we can still
02:04:46
>> It's okay though, right? I mean,
02:04:47
>> yeah, we can still move and not just
02:04:50
necessarily be disgusted and hate the
02:04:54
person like, hey, maybe let's try to
02:04:56
engage here so we uh maybe have a better
02:04:58
understanding of how we all so that we
02:05:00
can just have a more,
02:05:01
>> you know, kumbaya existence. But Jesus,
02:05:04
yeah, yesterday is an eye opener. And
02:05:06
then you think back, I mean the fact
02:05:07
that today is September 11th, like
02:05:10
September 12th, 2001. You obviously
02:05:12
older than I am, but in an age and AJ as
02:05:15
well. It's like I remember what that was
02:05:17
like. Like I think that was every
02:05:19
neighborhood in the entire country felt
02:05:21
the exact same way. And it's like we
02:05:24
need to figure out how without having
02:05:25
something like that happen. We have to
02:05:27
figure out like, hey, let's go, you
02:05:29
know? So, I appreciate you saying
02:05:31
something, but I felt like this can't be
02:05:34
in my eyes as somebody that has
02:05:36
certainly gotten my fair share of people
02:05:38
not wanting me to be alive. It's like,
02:05:40
hey, come on. We're allowed to disagree
02:05:42
with people and then we got to like this
02:05:43
can't be what we become. And obviously,
02:05:45
Charlie Kirk, him just,
02:05:49
you talked about what he does. Him just
02:05:51
sitting there and welcoming thousands of
02:05:53
people that he disagrees with is like
02:05:56
such a a thing that I would not be able
02:05:58
to do. You know, that's a scary
02:05:59
situation just I think from everything
02:06:01
that happens on the internet where we
02:06:02
read and it's like watching it all
02:06:04
unfold. It's like golly, man. This can't
02:06:06
be who we are. This can't be who we are.
02:06:08
And obviously dad, husband, everything
02:06:10
like that, human 31 years old, you know,
02:06:12
like all that stuff. It's like for me as
02:06:14
a 38-year-old, it's like that with a
02:06:16
daughter and a wife and it's like
02:06:18
everything happening. It's like I felt
02:06:19
obligated, but also like we can't do
02:06:22
this, you know? So, rest in peace to
02:06:23
Charlie Kirk, but also our country. We
02:06:25
cannot be like that. And tonight we
02:06:27
celebrate the great that our country has
02:06:30
to offer. The best league on planet
02:06:32
earth is the NFL. Kicking off week two
02:06:34
tonight on Prime with the Commanders and
02:06:37
the Packers. Kirk, I think we're in for
02:06:39
a great game tonight. I'm excited to
02:06:41
hear you guys on the call.
02:06:43
>> Yeah, we're fired up. This should be a
02:06:44
great one. Great way to set the tone for
02:06:46
the whole weekend. I I think it's going
02:06:48
to live up to the hype. These two
02:06:49
quarterbacks, as you guys know, are a
02:06:51
lot of fun to watch every single week,
02:06:53
let alone going headtohead against each
02:06:55
other. I think both these teams are
02:06:56
playoff teams at the end of the season
02:06:58
and it's great to get them against each
02:07:00
other early in the year to just kind of
02:07:02
find out uh who who these teams are. And
02:07:05
Micah Parsons coming in. I was just
02:07:06
talking to Jeff Hafley, the defensive
02:07:08
coordinator from Green Bay before I
02:07:09
hopped on with you guys, and he was just
02:07:11
talking about I mean, he's like, we
02:07:13
probably had 25 real snaps um with this
02:07:17
guy as far as practice uh reps, and so
02:07:21
this is not a a guy that's uh you know,
02:07:23
that that has had a lot of opportunities
02:07:25
to learn our scheme, he said. But I'll
02:07:26
tell you what, his football IQ is off
02:07:29
the charts because he's not just lining
02:07:31
up playing backyard football. He's
02:07:33
playing within the structure of the
02:07:34
defense and doing a lot of different
02:07:36
things, moving around, and you know,
02:07:38
he's this is gonna be fun to watch how
02:07:40
he impacts this game tonight against not
02:07:43
not Jared Goff, but a very athletic
02:07:45
Jaden Daniels who who's a handful and uh
02:07:48
creating and and QB runs. So, should be
02:07:51
should be a fun one tonight, man.
02:07:52
>> How about how happy Halfley has to be
02:07:54
that Jerry Jones comes out and goes,
02:07:56
"Maka can't stop the run." So, Micah now
02:07:59
>> is like, "Is that right?"
02:08:00
>> Yeah. Is that is that is that right? So,
02:08:03
you know, like he literally go ahead.
02:08:05
>> You're all over it. You're all I mean,
02:08:07
it's exactly I said to Jeff, I said it
02:08:10
was it was fun to watch. We all know
02:08:11
what he can do off the edge. I said, but
02:08:13
man, against Zulu, one of the best
02:08:14
tackles in the game. He's out there just
02:08:17
throwing it, you know, just in there
02:08:18
battling against the run. And and I and
02:08:21
he said exactly what you just mentioned.
02:08:23
He said he's incredibly motivated right
02:08:25
now to show people not only is he a
02:08:27
great pass rusher, but this dude's a
02:08:29
total package, you know. So he's uh he's
02:08:32
he also gave us a great quote last night
02:08:34
about when when people you love uh kind
02:08:37
of let you down, it's a incredible
02:08:39
motivator. Uh and so this this guy like
02:08:42
happens often. This guy's in the middle
02:08:44
of the just knocking on the prime of his
02:08:46
career and feels that he was let go and
02:08:49
denied. And I think because of that this
02:08:52
he's just playing with a lot of
02:08:54
intensity, embracing his new teammates.
02:08:56
>> What a mistake.
02:08:57
>> Been a perfect fit.
02:08:58
>> What a mistake. What was Jerry thinking?
02:09:00
Got his feelings hurt and he traded away
02:09:02
a [ __ ] Hall of Famer.
02:09:03
>> That's not how you do business, huh?
02:09:05
>> In the middle of the documentary, too,
02:09:06
about how we do business, isn't it?
02:09:08
>> I love it. Thank you, Jerry. Thank you,
02:09:10
Jerry. >> And for the motivation.
02:09:11
>> And for the motivation. This guy can't
02:09:12
play against run. A little bit fat.
02:09:15
>> Okay. >> Anything else? You can't catch either.
02:09:17
Put him on offense.
02:09:18
>> Yeah, exactly.
02:09:19
>> Send him out there. All right, Kirk, we
02:09:21
appreciate you, buddy. We'll see you
02:09:22
down in Tennessee.
02:09:23
>> Can't wait. You guys have a great one,
02:09:25
>> ladies and gentlemen. Kirk Hershey. Hey,
02:09:29
>> tonight's game is going to be epic.
02:09:30
>> So good.
02:09:31
>> All right, let's take a break on the
02:09:32
other side. We'll make our picks and
02:09:33
wrap up all the story lines that we
02:09:34
haven't hit yet on this glorious
02:09:36
September 11th, 2025 where hopefully our
02:09:39
world comes together more than it's ever
02:09:41
been. AJ.
02:09:43
>> Yep. Hopefully. I don't know.
02:09:46
>> That sounds like a lot of pessimism.
02:09:48
>> Yeah, good attitude.
02:09:49
>> No, no, no. I'm just I'm all for like
02:09:51
rational humans and like common sense.
02:09:54
>> Yes.
02:09:55
>> Hell yeah. That would be nice.
02:09:57
>> Amen.
02:09:59
Amen. But in reality, you got to have to
02:10:02
deal with stuff that isn't like that,
02:10:03
you know. And I hope as we continue to
02:10:05
move forward, we understand that, hey,
02:10:07
just because we don't have to literally
