00:00:00
live from New York. It's a show that is
00:00:02
getting ready for Thanksgiving. Getting
00:00:04
ready thinking about foods all
00:00:06
>> It's also the show that over the
00:00:08
Thanksgiving [music] break might have to
00:00:10
recalibrate a bit.
00:00:12
>> I agree with that.
00:00:13
>> Drew is going to agree with me and the
00:00:15
audience has noticed. Our Reddit page
00:00:16
has noticed co-workers have noticed it
00:00:19
is harsh.
00:00:20
>> But you they're more harsh than regular.
00:00:24
>> But here's But here's the thing. Here's
00:00:25
what everyone's noticed. As Wild's real
00:00:29
team, the Patriots have become [music]
00:00:32
contenders,
00:00:33
>> Wilds is changing.
00:00:34
>> Yeah. No doubt.
00:00:35
>> And cockier.
00:00:37
>> Yes.
00:00:39
>> Not as sweet and shy.
00:00:40
>> Correct. And like let and really wants
00:00:42
to be like the take guy. Which, by the
00:00:46
way, we I have no problem. We have no
00:00:47
problem with, but it takes a
00:00:49
recalibration from all of us.
00:00:51
>> All that funloving silly junk. He's
00:00:53
done. >> He's done with it. They're playing for
00:00:55
some real stakes. [laughter] For the
00:00:57
record, if you give me an option,
00:01:00
another option, I will take it. But with
00:01:03
the risk of your [music] team being out
00:01:04
of the Super Bowl and wheeled in on a
00:01:06
hospital bed,
00:01:07
>> Mhm.
00:01:08
>> and you on the verge of being 500 by
00:01:11
[music] Thanksgiving night, someone's
00:01:14
got to do the heavy lifting.
00:01:16
>> That's what I'm saying.
00:01:17
>> Someone's got to be the villain and you
00:01:19
guys could be It's like wrestling.
00:01:20
>> We're starting with the eight and
00:01:21
fourers. They get another win.
00:01:25
Classic Wilds. Brock completed 26
00:01:28
passes,
00:01:29
23 to his team, [laughter]
00:01:31
three to the Panthers. Uh, second time
00:01:33
in his career he's [music] thrown three
00:01:35
interceptions in a half. Brew,
00:01:37
>> nevertheless, San Francisco prevails.
00:01:39
>> I know that.
00:01:40
>> Brew, are you worried about Pertie?
00:01:43
>> Worried?
00:01:44
>> Okay,
00:01:45
>> come on, man. >> No, ser Mr. QB wins.
00:01:49
Asking me if I'm worried.
00:01:51
>> He has won three games. Yeah, in four.
00:01:55
He's three and one. They're eight and
00:01:57
four overall. Last night they beat a
00:01:59
playoff contender handily.
00:02:03
>> Despite >> And I'm supposed to be worried.
00:02:07
I ain't worried at all.
00:02:10
I'm quaking.
00:02:12
[laughter] I'm overrun.
00:02:15
I AM TREMBLING LIKE A TWIG IN A
00:02:18
WINDSTORM.
00:02:22
THAT'S HOW WORRY I'M WORRIED. I WISH I
00:02:25
WAS ONLY WORRIED.
00:02:27
>> Just cancel the show. [laughter]
00:02:30
Just We can't get any better than this.
00:02:32
It's You're the best. You got to be A
00:02:34
SOLO. >> GOOGLE ME WILD.
00:02:36
>> YOU'RE UNBELIEVABLE.
00:02:37
>> GOOGLE ME.
00:02:38
>> CHECK MY IMD PAGE.
00:02:40
>> I DON'T BELONG. >> YOU DON'T THINK A BROTHER CAN ACT? NOW
00:02:42
YOU DO. NOW YOU KNOW.
00:02:44
>> I don't belong here. [laughter]
00:02:46
>> I need to go to AAA or something. You're
00:02:49
the best.
00:02:50
Brock,
00:02:52
get it together.
00:02:54
Get it together.
00:02:57
AND IF YOUR TOE IS BOTHERING YOU, SIT
00:03:00
OUT. [laughter]
00:03:01
>> IF NOT, YOU GOT TO MAKE BETTER PASSES
00:03:04
AND BETTER DECISIONS cuz the TEAM
00:03:06
ACTUALLY LOOKS PRETTY GOOD.
00:03:07
>> YES.
00:03:08
>> And you, you know, I ride with you, but
00:03:10
you're looking like the weak link,
00:03:12
>> and so you got to play better,
00:03:16
>> bro. I I appreciate that. Yeah.
00:03:18
>> All serious. Yeah. Um, [laughter]
00:03:21
>> yeah. And this is Listen,
00:03:23
[clears throat]
00:03:24
>> this so I respect the humility that that
00:03:28
took and the honesty that took,
00:03:31
>> right? Because this is a problem and
00:03:34
>> you can't really say it's an outlier.
00:03:39
>> So like here here's the last few years
00:03:42
guys who have had three straight drives
00:03:45
with an interception. you're going to
00:03:47
note like so it's pretty yesterday and
00:03:49
then Dak who's really good and then
00:03:52
quarterbacks that either aren't starters
00:03:54
or we don't trust. So you might say
00:03:56
>> well Jameus is approp like that's lately
00:03:59
that's how Brock's been like he he has
00:04:01
some big plays
00:04:02
>> but he's it's like a reckless
00:04:04
>> it's a great it's a great comp like
00:04:07
Jamus when he actually that this is
00:04:10
Jamus with the with New Orleans but
00:04:12
you're thinking of like Bucks Jamus.
00:04:14
>> Yes. You know what I mean? A guy is
00:04:15
like, "Hey man, no risk it, no biscuit."
00:04:17
>> Now, I mean, we know when he plays more,
00:04:19
that's what's coming.
00:04:20
>> And so that m the fact that, okay, it's
00:04:22
happened once. He's done it once, don't
00:04:24
five times. Makes it feel like it's an
00:04:26
outlier.
00:04:28
>> But what about multi-pick halves in the
00:04:31
last three years? Brock has eight. Joe
00:04:35
Flacco, who hasn't even been a
00:04:37
full-time, same type of guy, and the
00:04:39
prince, who I'll be honest,
00:04:41
>> has a turnover problem. Yeah, [laughter]
00:04:45
print.
00:04:46
>> He has a turnover problem. And so this
00:04:49
is my concern because I really agree
00:04:52
with the last thing you said. I don't
00:04:54
quite know how other than Shanahan's
00:04:58
a brilliant tactician.
00:05:01
Big Bob Salah is it see if if I had a
00:05:05
vote if I had a vote for
00:05:08
>> assistant coach of the year, which
00:05:09
exists, that's an award that exists,
00:05:11
it'd go to him right now. agree. He
00:05:13
might get it. I mean, he's definitely
00:05:14
got to be at
00:05:15
>> Yeah. I mean, I'm not sure even who's
00:05:17
the major contenders, but it feels like
00:05:19
the fact that they have lost Warner and
00:05:21
Bosa and going into the year, we were
00:05:24
like, the defense has lost a lot of
00:05:25
people in free agency and they are he's
00:05:28
he's been brilliant. And Gish McCaffrey
00:05:31
is out of this world. I don't know how
00:05:33
long he keep it up, but he's out of this
00:05:34
world. And then you have this question
00:05:37
of it's unfair to Brock to say was it a
00:05:42
fluke because it was an extended period.
00:05:44
But >> no, he he legitimately played well.
00:05:47
There's no question earlier.
00:05:48
>> It's now it's the first two years of his
00:05:50
career versus the last two years. And if
00:05:53
we put them side by side, you look and
00:05:56
you say, "Oh,
00:05:58
is he just forget the win loss record,
00:06:00
is he just not going to reach the
00:06:04
heights that we saw?" And if that's the
00:06:07
case, if he is still because you can
00:06:09
deal with a bunch of turnovers if you
00:06:11
are having as many of the boom plays,
00:06:14
but particularly KW with the toe injury
00:06:17
and the lack of mobility, which was one
00:06:20
of his kind of underrated strengths,
00:06:23
>> man, if I'm the ners, I am I'm on a if
00:06:27
if his next game is awful, I'm I think I
00:06:31
might have to go to Mac. Blame it on the
00:06:33
foot. Let me add just quickly before I
00:06:36
know you want to go. You can write off
00:06:40
three touchdown or three interceptions
00:06:41
and a half. You might say, "Okay, that's
00:06:43
an aberration." Even though he's done it
00:06:44
before,
00:06:45
>> but he's got seven interceptions in four
00:06:48
games this year. If you go back to his
00:06:50
last three last year or last four games,
00:06:53
he's got seven 11 interceptions in seven
00:06:57
in his last seven starts. So this is bec
00:07:00
and I'm gonna be honest when you talked
00:07:02
a couple years ago when he was like I
00:07:04
want to be more aggressive and lighted
00:07:05
you know things like Tom Brady compared
00:07:07
himself to not that he said he was Tom
00:07:09
Brad on people's throat as a killer.
00:07:12
>> He has been more reckless or aggressive
00:07:16
instead of just kind of playing within
00:07:18
the system
00:07:20
>> and he he needs to go back to that cuz
00:07:22
he's making too many mistakes.
00:07:23
>> So if I was so I'm going to show you uh
00:07:24
Pery's deep passes but I'm then I'm
00:07:26
going to ask you a question. In 2025 he
00:07:29
is uh one touchdown, four interceptions.
00:07:32
2023 I think is what your is your kind
00:07:35
of lineup his unbelievable.
00:07:38
>> Mhm. >> But Brew what you mentioned speaks to a
00:07:42
combination of health and decision
00:07:44
making. What part of his struggles are
00:07:47
health and what part are decision
00:07:49
making?
00:07:51
>> I think there's both in there. I think a
00:07:54
lot of it is health. What what I don't
00:07:56
know the status of his toad. They said
00:07:57
it would be all year, but at the end of
00:07:59
last year, he was kind of banged up. And
00:08:01
he's he's banged up quite a bit. We've
00:08:03
talked about that.
00:08:05
>> And I think he even at Iowa State, I
00:08:07
think he was, you know, an aggressive
00:08:09
guy that would try to make throws. And
00:08:10
that's what McCaffrey was talking about.
00:08:12
I like that he continues to do it.
00:08:14
Second half last night, he stayed
00:08:16
relatively aggressive. They kept him
00:08:18
throwing short passes for the most part.
00:08:20
But
00:08:21
>> I I I look, I do think he can get it
00:08:23
back. And I'll bring up I'll bring up a
00:08:26
benching possibly because
00:08:29
Drew Brees was benched at one point in
00:08:31
his career. Curt Warner obviously was
00:08:33
benched. Troy Aman was benched at like I
00:08:36
think uh the third year for Breeze and
00:08:39
Aman. So Party's in his fourth year. I'm
00:08:42
just saying you can come back from a
00:08:44
benching if it come I wouldn't do it now
00:08:46
but if he if he continues to throw two
00:08:48
interceptions a game then you're going
00:08:51
to have to >> Those are three good examples for now.
00:08:53
Nick, do you mind rattling off the guys
00:08:55
who got benched and did not play well?
00:08:57
>> Yeah, I mean 70 of us, right? So like
00:08:59
those are but I'm just saying the point
00:09:01
that it's not a death nail is true.
00:09:04
Typically though, if you're a veteran
00:09:06
quarterback, which in year four you are,
00:09:08
and you lose your job, it is a after
00:09:12
you've been paid, it is a horrible sign.
00:09:15
And here's what I would say.
00:09:18
He plays and I don't want this to sound
00:09:21
patronizing, but I guess it will.
00:09:23
>> He plays with an undeserved arm
00:09:26
arrogance.
00:09:28
>> Yeah. Like Baker a little bit.
00:09:29
>> He But Baker has a crazy strong arm.
00:09:33
Baker has some other weaknesses,
00:09:34
whatever. And Flacco is a guy Flacco,
00:09:38
you know what I mean? Has I don't know
00:09:40
if he still does to a degree.
00:09:41
those he plays a style of the a guy
00:09:46
that's like, man, I don't care that he's
00:09:47
covered. I'm going to rip it in there.
00:09:50
And certain guys, Brett Favre is the a
00:09:53
pinnacle example of that, right? And
00:09:56
then there's the
00:09:57
>> anti-example of that is Jeff George, who
00:10:00
had a strong as strong of arm as Brett
00:10:02
Favre, but just made awful decisions. I
00:10:05
don't know of many quarterbacks that
00:10:07
I've seen in my lifetime that play that
00:10:10
style without having a strong arm. And
00:10:13
Perie, even when you as the at his peak,
00:10:17
biggest defender, nobody was like, "Man,
00:10:19
that guy's got a cannon." It's that his
00:10:21
processing, decision-m, accuracy,
00:10:23
timing, those things. And so that is
00:10:26
what is so odd to me. Even if you
00:10:29
remember, gosh, I think it was two years
00:10:32
ago. It might have been the first game
00:10:33
of the year.
00:10:34
>> The touchdown pass he threw that
00:10:36
Shanahan said that's the worst decision
00:10:38
he's made when pass,
00:10:39
>> right? But but you
00:10:40
>> and that's part of what I mean again,
00:10:42
McCaffrey was referring to.
00:10:44
>> And so, but he just has it does
00:10:48
>> I don't want to say he has bought into
00:10:50
the hype because it is unfair even
00:10:52
though I've been a lifelong or skeptic
00:10:54
of his forever to call it hype because
00:10:56
it wasn't hype. was he was top five in
00:10:58
MVP voting. They made a Super Bowl. It
00:11:00
wasn't makebelieve. But it seems like
00:11:04
>> for some reason or another he got sick
00:11:08
of making the easy plays and wanted to
00:11:12
make the wow plays. Maybe because there
00:11:14
was a jerk on TV saying count the wows
00:11:16
or the oh nos. It's like I'm going to
00:11:18
prove these people wrong. And then you
00:11:20
and then so that change in style plus
00:11:24
less talent around him plus being banged
00:11:27
up plus maybe a little extra pressure of
00:11:30
not that he hasn't played without
00:11:31
pressure of oh man M. Jones played
00:11:33
pretty well. He's putting up 300 yards.
00:11:34
I want to do the same thing has created
00:11:36
>> feel it with the contract,
00:11:37
>> right? And the pressure of the contract
00:11:39
has created a scenario where
00:11:41
>> that was
00:11:42
>> he he and Bryce were having a mid off
00:11:46
yesterday and that's that is
00:11:48
complimentary.
00:11:49
>> Yeah. Yes.
00:11:50
>> Uh 22 for 24 under 10 yards, one for
00:11:53
eight, three interceptions
00:11:55
>> and it could have been five. There were
00:11:57
two other in the first half there were
00:11:59
two that were Aman almost passed. was
00:12:01
just in a zone of throwing.
00:12:04
>> All right, let's head to Baltimore. Say
00:12:06
it ain't toe. Joe Burrow returning from
00:12:09
his toe injury. Lamar on the injury
00:12:11
report yesterday with a toe. Now, the
00:12:13
good news is that he practiced today.
00:12:16
John Harbaugh was asked if he thinks
00:12:18
injuries [music] are affecting his quarterback. Here's
00:12:20
the injury report this season. Toe week
00:12:23
before, ankle week 11, knee, and then he
00:12:26
missed the games with the hamstring.
00:12:27
>> On the bright side, it's moving south
00:12:29
and after the toe, nowhere to go. So,
00:12:31
[laughter] it's just slowly escaping
00:12:33
>> up then up the other leg. Uh, how
00:12:36
concerning is this, bro?
00:12:37
>> I think it's concerning because I feel
00:12:40
like
00:12:42
injuries or being banged up to some
00:12:44
degree is really the only explanation
00:12:48
for how he's been playing. Like you can
00:12:50
have a bad game, even two, you might not
00:12:53
be quite at your peak, but this is the
00:12:55
first time in his eight-year career he's
00:12:58
been under 200 yards passing and 60%
00:13:02
completions in three straight games. And
00:13:04
we saw, I think we have a graphic, his
00:13:06
first five games, he was lighting the
00:13:09
league on fire. And even when they were
00:13:11
losing, it wasn't because of the
00:13:13
offense. And you see 15 touchdowns, two
00:13:16
136 passer rating, which is out of this
00:13:19
world for multiple games. And then the
00:13:21
last three 71 passer rating, one
00:13:24
touchdown since he's been back, [music]
00:13:26
two picks. And it's concerning because
00:13:30
this offense, while it might it can win
00:13:32
the AFC North, like with this offense
00:13:35
playing this way, they can't get to the
00:13:36
Super Bowl. No.
00:13:37
>> Even if the Chiefs are out, to be
00:13:38
honest. Correct. And that would be a
00:13:40
tragedy because for Lamar or Josh not to
00:13:44
reach the Super Bowl in a year the
00:13:46
Chiefs are either down or out, whatever
00:13:49
it might be.
00:13:50
>> Now, I do believe he can get it going
00:13:55
and I I I feel confident that he'll play
00:13:58
better, but if it is injuries, you just
00:14:01
might not be able to at that point. So,
00:14:03
he alluded to it after the game.
00:14:05
somebody asked him about his health and
00:14:08
and he said, "I can't call it, but since
00:14:10
I'm out there, I got to I should be
00:14:12
playing better."
00:14:13
>> So, he kind of, you know, he didn't
00:14:15
kill. No, I'm fine.
00:14:16
>> And so, I do think something's it's
00:14:19
affecting his running, his escapability,
00:14:22
and uh he's he's hasn't been the same.
00:14:24
No question.
00:14:25
>> All right. I don't want this to be
00:14:26
misconstrued, so I'm gonna try to be
00:14:28
very deliberate with what I say here
00:14:30
because I think Lamar, remember I did a
00:14:32
couple years ago, maybe a year ago, the
00:14:34
alltime Mahomes Mountain, and I had
00:14:36
Lamar somewhere in the 15 greatest
00:14:38
quarterbacks ever.
00:14:39
>> Um, and there obviously have been
00:14:43
quarterbacks that are dynamic with their
00:14:44
legs that are just not good passers,
00:14:47
>> right?
00:14:48
>> And that is not who Lamar is.
00:14:51
With that said,
00:14:54
I have thought for the last few years
00:14:58
that the biggest Lamar fans in the
00:15:02
analytics community and in the a lot of
00:15:05
writers to be totally honest that talk
00:15:07
about him as a passer
00:15:10
are
00:15:12
watching a different player than me
00:15:14
because they talk about how elite he is
00:15:17
within the pocket. And that's true and
00:15:18
how precise he is. And that's somewhat
00:15:21
true. And they talk about it as if it is
00:15:24
divorced from his running. And I have
00:15:26
never felt that way. I have felt that
00:15:28
what has made Lamar so special is that
00:15:30
because he is such a dynamic runner. He
00:15:34
you almost have to defend that first,
00:15:36
which then has cleared the picture in
00:15:39
passing and he has improved in the
00:15:41
passing from okay when he first came
00:15:44
into the league to pretty good. And that
00:15:46
made him have 40 touchdowns, four picks,
00:15:49
all of these things. Last few years been
00:15:51
the last few years numbers been
00:15:52
unbelievable.
00:15:54
>> He doesn't run anymore.
00:15:56
>> Mhm.
00:15:57
>> And teams I think are realizing it
00:16:00
>> and for the first time I believe he is
00:16:04
being defended
00:16:06
like a mostly traditional quarterback
00:16:09
and I think he's struggling with it. So
00:16:12
I think that
00:16:13
>> So you think the injuries are affecting
00:16:14
his running? I think either I think I
00:16:17
think he was already pairing back on the
00:16:19
run and now the the pairing back plus
00:16:21
the injuries make it to where he's not
00:16:24
really a threat to run
00:16:26
>> and if Lamar if you had if this sounds
00:16:29
ridiculous but if they passed a rule
00:16:30
like flag football or whatever like you
00:16:32
can't run as a quarterback I don't
00:16:34
believe Lamar would have these goaudy
00:16:36
passing numbers. I don't think he'd be
00:16:38
terrible. I think he'd be out of the
00:16:39
league but I think he'd be just fine.
00:16:41
And so now it appears to me teams are
00:16:46
less afraid of him as a runner. They are
00:16:48
more defending him as a passer and he is
00:16:51
even though he's in year eight seeing
00:16:53
things he's not usually seen seeing
00:16:56
coverages and seeing those things and
00:16:58
you're seeing it show up in the numbers.
00:17:00
I don't that is not a sweeping
00:17:02
indictment on him as a player because
00:17:03
you get credit for your legs and you get
00:17:06
credit for what >> right as as a quarterback. It's all like
00:17:09
your ranking
00:17:10
>> including his
00:17:11
>> including everything and how you force
00:17:13
teams to guard you.
00:17:14
>> But I I give that long explanation to
00:17:17
then say this. This is super concerning
00:17:20
if he can't put on film in short order.
00:17:25
I will bust I I'll go 11 for 120 like I
00:17:28
used to do a couple times a year because
00:17:31
teams weren't respecting it. I will beat
00:17:33
you that way because if he doesn't do
00:17:36
that, I think teams will treat him more
00:17:39
like a traditional quarterback and I
00:17:42
think that's going to be tough. And not
00:17:44
just because of whatever his limitations
00:17:45
are or aren't,
00:17:46
>> but they also I don't think, you know,
00:17:48
I've never been a huge Z Flowers guy.
00:17:50
They don't have great exact receivers
00:17:52
that's just like, all right, we're going
00:17:53
to line up and beat you that way. So, I
00:17:55
think this is greatly concerning.
00:17:57
>> They're
00:17:59
not fully, but it you could compare
00:18:02
them. Their receivers are better than
00:18:03
Buffalo's.
00:18:04
>> Yes. >> But they have the tight ends like
00:18:06
Buffalo had when they're healthy. Now,
00:18:08
obviously, both got great running backs,
00:18:10
too.
00:18:11
>> But I think his lack of running is is
00:18:13
affecting Derrick Henry, too.
00:18:14
>> I do think Henry's aged a bit and
00:18:16
doesn't have the same, but if you don't
00:18:18
have to worry, Last year, you had to
00:18:20
worry about Lamar running, Lamar
00:18:21
throwing, and Derek Henry. Now, it's not
00:18:24
the case. So,
00:18:26
>> that might not be out of the question.
00:18:27
>> Sacked 24 times this year and missed the
00:18:30
games. last year just 23 times.
00:18:32
>> Right. In eight games, he's been sacked
00:18:34
more than last year.
00:18:35
>> Uh let's look ahead to Thanksgiving
00:18:37
afternoon. Chiefs in Dallas. I'm on the
00:18:39
couch
00:18:40
>> trying to stay awake. Get that trip to
00:18:42
fan. I'm going to be on the West Coast.
00:18:44
This is a 1:30 West Coast, which means
00:18:47
there's no way for it not to conflict
00:18:48
with the meal. It's going to Listen,
00:18:50
I'll be holding my granddaughter, but my
00:18:52
wife's going to be super pissed.
00:18:53
>> Yeah. [laughter]
00:18:54
>> Uh Cowboys currently at 13% to make the
00:18:57
playoffs. Chiefs at 61%.
00:18:59
>> [music] >> Nick, are you surprised the Chiefs are
00:19:01
favored in this game?
00:19:02
>> I'm not. I know you are. Uh, and here's
00:19:05
why I'm not.
00:19:08
The Chiefs offense has been hit or miss,
00:19:13
I think, is fair. And even in that, not
00:19:14
even in, maybe especially in that Colts
00:19:17
game where they moved the ball at will,
00:19:20
but they had a turnover inside their own
00:19:22
five and inside the other team's five.
00:19:25
They weren't good in the red zone. And
00:19:27
I, you know, I think that was I thought
00:19:29
Patrick was brilliant when he absolutely
00:19:32
had to be, but was mediocre in the first
00:19:35
three quarters and that was after two
00:19:37
bad performances. The pick was bad.
00:19:40
>> Um,
00:19:42
>> but they have carved up bad pass
00:19:44
defenses.
00:19:45
>> They score about 30 a game. Patrick is
00:19:47
really good and we can show the one loss
00:19:49
they have against the bad pass defense
00:19:50
is the Jacksonville loss where they
00:19:52
would have should have scored 38. They
00:19:54
scored 28. And so, um, the the touchdown
00:19:58
interception ratio is not as good as you
00:20:01
would like and it's a lot they have a
00:20:02
lot of Kareem Hunt one-yard touchdown
00:20:04
runs in there, but they're scoring 28 a
00:20:07
game. And that's with taking the foot
00:20:09
off the gas in some of these fourth
00:20:11
quarters. I respect Quinn Williams a ton
00:20:15
and what he has added to the Cowboys
00:20:17
defense. And I think that, and you can
00:20:19
say, well, the Bills don't have a good
00:20:20
defense. the Bills don't have a good run
00:20:22
defense and the Chiefs didn't even try
00:20:24
or maybe couldn't take advantage of it.
00:20:27
I don't trust the Cowboys back end and
00:20:29
the Cowboys themselves have been like we
00:20:31
had to we built a team to stop the run.
00:20:33
Okay. And so I just think that while I
00:20:37
think the Cowboys when they have the
00:20:39
ball can do real damage, I think Patrick
00:20:42
against this pass defense presents a ton
00:20:44
of problems for Dallas. And I think
00:20:46
that's why Kansas City's favored. I also
00:20:47
think look backs both teams backs are
00:20:50
against the wall must win literal must
00:20:53
win for both who you taking in this
00:20:56
Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid or Brian
00:20:58
Shodenheimer and Dak Prescott like when
00:21:01
if Dak and and Dak is having a
00:21:02
phenomenal He's having a much better
00:21:04
year than Patrick or better year than
00:21:06
Patrick for sure
00:21:07
>> but his history is not that he goes
00:21:11
crazy and delivers in big games. I'm not
00:21:13
saying he hasn't ever done it, but we
00:21:15
know his playoff record, two and five, I
00:21:17
think.
00:21:18
>> And Momes, I mean, that's his legacy,
00:21:21
delivering in big games, big moments.
00:21:23
>> So, I just think with that, the the
00:21:26
Cowboys haven't won three straight games
00:21:28
since November of 2023, you know. So, I
00:21:32
just feel like we saw it a week ago, not
00:21:35
even, but last weekend, where the Chiefs
00:21:38
absolutely had to deliver and they beat
00:21:40
one of the top teams in the AFC. At the
00:21:43
time they played the Ravens, that was
00:21:45
viewed as a huge game. The Chiefs have
00:21:47
one of their best performances. Same
00:21:49
thing, you know, against Detroit. That's
00:21:51
a big game. Now, I know they lost to
00:21:53
Buffalo, which they always do, but they
00:21:55
lost to Philly.
00:21:57
>> The big game they didn't step up in was
00:21:58
Denver. That's the, you know, that's the
00:22:00
big game.
00:22:01
>> Philly, they played well, they lost, I
00:22:02
mean, Denver, they were close, too. But
00:22:04
>> I just think that they you in a close
00:22:08
must-win game for both teams, you got to
00:22:10
take the Chief.
00:22:11
>> If it's a shootout, do you think the
00:22:12
Chiefs win it?
00:22:15
>> I think they can. I mean, Mahomes I just
00:22:18
think is cap until I really until they
00:22:22
are buried. It's hard. You can't write
00:22:24
them off.
00:22:25
>> I agree. But you like Dallas. I like
00:22:27
Dallas and it's a a little bit of vibes,
00:22:29
a little bit of I think it's going to be
00:22:31
a high-scoring game and I just really
00:22:32
trust Dallas to deliver. George Pickkins
00:22:34
has 144 and 146 the last two games. The
00:22:38
Chiefs are a little bit better than 500.
00:22:41
They're 1 and4 on the road. I think this
00:22:43
Thanksgiving game in Dallas, Cowboys are
00:22:45
going to be fired up. The Thursday night
00:22:47
game on the road, 11 Thursday night
00:22:49
games, not count. I took out uh
00:22:51
>> Thursday games.
00:22:52
>> Thursday games. I took out Eagles uh
00:22:55
>> Chiefs. Yeah, >> Eagles Cowboys for the opener.
00:22:58
>> Home team is 8 and3. The three losses,
00:23:01
the Ravens beat the Dolphins in Miami.
00:23:02
So, it's like the Ravens are the better
00:23:04
team. 49ers beat the Rams. It's
00:23:06
basically a home game for the 49ers. And
00:23:08
the Seahawks beat the overmatched
00:23:09
Cardinals. When it's close, I feel like
00:23:12
to the home team, including Eagles
00:23:14
Giants. I just feel like the Giants
00:23:17
should not have beaten the Eagles. They
00:23:18
did.
00:23:19
>> So, so here's two things. One is I you
00:23:23
say when it's close you give it to the
00:23:25
home team.
00:23:26
>> I don't think this is I know the records
00:23:29
are close. The Chiefs are one of four
00:23:31
teams in the league that are top 10
00:23:33
scoring offense scoring defense yardage
00:23:35
offense yardage defense. The Cowboys are
00:23:38
number 31 defense. Now it's different
00:23:40
since Quinn Williams but one player does
00:23:42
not and I understand they got overshawn
00:23:44
back as well. that is. So I when we talk
00:23:47
about close your eyes and do the
00:23:49
Lombardi test or whatever, can you see a
00:23:51
team winning the Super Bowl? The Chiefs
00:23:53
are on that list. The Cowboys are not.
00:23:55
And so that in that regard, they're not
00:23:57
close. Here's the other thing
00:23:59
>> that I truly believe matters in this
00:24:01
spot. Both of these teams
00:24:05
>> just had huge comeback at home season
00:24:09
saving victories, right? They then play
00:24:12
four days later in what should be the
00:24:15
most watched football game that is in
00:24:16
the playoffs ever.
00:24:18
>> Which team do we expect to have the
00:24:20
maturity and experience to handle that
00:24:23
moment Sunday and be ready to play
00:24:25
Thursday? I will take the team that has
00:24:28
played in 20 games bigger than this over
00:24:30
the team that two weeks ago had guys
00:24:33
partying at a casino 12 hours before 18
00:24:35
hours before a game allegedly, but they
00:24:37
can handle their liquor. And I uh um so
00:24:40
I just think the Cowboys are more even
00:24:43
though the Chiefs have not been
00:24:44
consistent in any regard this year. I
00:24:46
trust them in a big spot to know how to
00:24:49
get ready on a short week.
00:24:50
>> The Cowboys are Dallas right now.
00:24:52
>> It's a special episode of must-win. Nick
00:24:55
Wright going for the unprecedented four
00:24:59
Pete. Unbelievable. We're starting
00:25:02
judging >> with Packers in Detroit. This one starts
00:25:06
at 11:00 a.m. Eastern on Fox. Just
00:25:08
putting out the shrimp cocktail in the
00:25:10
Wilds [music] family. Dan Campbell just
00:25:11
one win in four Thanksgiving games.
00:25:13
Remember last year got close that Bears
00:25:16
game. Nick, we'll start with you since
00:25:19
you're the reigning champion. You can
00:25:20
pass or play.
00:25:21
>> Thank you.
00:25:22
>> Obviously. Who is this a must-win for?
00:25:25
>> I'm going to pass to coach.
00:25:28
>> Wow.
00:25:29
>> To go second.
00:25:30
>> I can pass wherever I want. Wow. Another
00:25:34
new twist of the must-win game.
00:25:35
[laughter] I'm going This is absolutely
00:25:37
a must-win for the Lions. They haven't
00:25:39
won two in a row now in six weeks.
00:25:42
They've struggled against Philly to
00:25:44
score. And this is after we make the big
00:25:48
pronunci or the big the big uh
00:25:50
announcement that we're going to change
00:25:51
coordinators. The head coach is going to
00:25:52
call plays. They light it up against
00:25:54
Washington and [music] then they cut
00:25:56
fall back down to earth. So, they
00:25:57
struggled there. They struggled against
00:25:58
the Giants. They lost to Green Bay at
00:26:00
the start of the season. didn't score
00:26:02
very many points there either. They're
00:26:03
4-1 at home. They're currently eight in
00:26:05
the playoffs. Obviously a must win for
00:26:08
them. >> It's obviously not a must-win for the
00:26:11
Lions. It is however a must-win for the
00:26:14
brain trust [music] of the Green Bay
00:26:16
Packers. story that we discussed three
00:26:19
weeks ago and then thanks to a couple
00:26:22
unimpressive wins against unimpressive
00:26:25
teams, it's gone by the wayside which is
00:26:27
wait are Matt Laflur and Brian Gutenkun
00:26:31
on the hot seat.
00:26:33
No, it contract extensions, the Super
00:26:36
Bowl or bust expectations, the trade for
00:26:39
everybody's all-American Micah Parsons.
00:26:41
If they lose this game, week one feel,
00:26:44
which is the high watermark of their
00:26:46
season, feels like even more of an
00:26:48
aberration, they then fall to that
00:26:50
dreaded eight seed trying to just sneak
00:26:54
their way into the postseason. [music]
00:26:56
And if this Packers team misses the
00:26:58
playoffs, all the local reporting seems
00:27:01
to imply, if not outright, say, Matt
00:27:03
Laflur might not be back next year. So,
00:27:05
it's a must-win for Matt Laflur and his
00:27:08
boss Brian Guten.
00:27:09
>> Wow.
00:27:10
>> Wow. What a start.
00:27:11
>> If you had followed my advice and
00:27:13
checked my IMDb page in between the
00:27:16
break,
00:27:17
>> you would have seen a lot of the
00:27:18
characters I played are rebels.
00:27:21
>> Can't be controlled, can't be tamed. So
00:27:24
in that spirit,
00:27:26
>> double must win.
00:27:28
>> WE BANNED DOUBLE.
00:27:29
>> DOUBLE MUST WIN
00:27:30
>> right out of the gate.
00:27:31
>> For the Lions, they need their swagger
00:27:34
back. There one Dan Campbell brought
00:27:39
swagger. THAT'S BEEN THE WHOLE THING.
00:27:42
WE'RE the measly Lions. No, WE'RE NO
00:27:44
GOOD. WE'RE TERRIBLE. MATTHEW STAFFORD,
00:27:47
CALVIN JOHNSON, AND DOMIN. BARRY SANDERS
00:27:50
couldn't win here. He brought swagger,
00:27:53
but that swagger is gone. Did it walk
00:27:55
out of the door with Ben Johnson? You
00:27:58
scored nine points against the Eagles
00:28:01
and you barely beat Jamus Win. YOUR
00:28:04
LINEBACKER GOT RUN OVER BY JAMEUS
00:28:07
WIZARD. They need their swagger back.
00:28:09
And for the Packers,
00:28:12
JLo has to be J. Oh,
00:28:17
because nobody believes in him. They
00:28:19
think he's the reason they won't get to
00:28:20
the Super Bowl. Double must win.
00:28:22
>> I was trying to introduce scarcity
00:28:23
[music] back into must win. I said no
00:28:25
double must wins. I was proven wrong
00:28:28
>> right away. Brew with the victory right
00:28:30
out of the gate. Unbelievable.
00:28:33
>> Unbelievable. >> You know what, Brew? You earned it. I'm
00:28:34
[laughter] proud of you.
00:28:36
>> Bears in Philadelphia. Caleb versus
00:28:38
Jaylen, a brilliant offensive play
00:28:41
caller who hates the tush push versus
00:28:43
Kevin Patulo.
00:28:45
>> Strength of schedule not close, but the
00:28:47
records are both teams eight and three.
00:28:50
points.
00:28:52
The nod goes to Chicago. Defense nod
00:28:55
goes to the Eagles. Turnovers
00:28:57
differential. [music]
00:28:58
The Bears are feasting now. That's why
00:28:59
they're okay.
00:29:01
>> 26 points a game is pretty good.
00:29:03
>> 16 turnovers. Too many.
00:29:05
>> Uh turnover. It's just
00:29:07
>> Yeah, it seems not sustainable, but with
00:29:09
Chicago peanut punch that team that made
00:29:11
all the way super
00:29:12
>> starting your section.
00:29:13
>> No. [laughter]
00:29:15
Helping out.
00:29:16
>> Oh, I'm sorry. We're going clockwise.
00:29:18
I'm sorry. It's going clockwise. I got
00:29:20
lost. I apologize. It is Nick. He leads
00:29:22
[music] off.
00:29:23
>> I get this thing. >> Listen control.
00:29:25
>> The easy answer and the answer I assume
00:29:28
>> one of them are going to go with is
00:29:29
something about [music] the Eagles
00:29:30
having to get the offense back on track.
00:29:32
AJ Brown, Nick Serriani, Tul Eminem or
00:29:35
>> the
00:29:37
>> the real answer
00:29:39
and why do you know this is this is a
00:29:42
must-win
00:29:44
first and foremost [music] for Ben
00:29:46
Johnson who this off season mocked did
00:29:50
everything but walk up the Rocky steps
00:29:53
and spit on him.
00:29:54
>> That's true.
00:29:55
>> Take a hammer to the Liberty Bell. Put
00:29:57
another crack in it.
00:29:58
>> Another hammer. >> Yeah. Another Exactly. when he said, "I
00:30:01
like explosive plays." Much less we did
00:30:04
see just this past weekend, I don't know
00:30:06
who tweeted it. Someone very [music]
00:30:07
smart, likely handsome, tweeted it, an
00:30:10
explosive play from the tush push when
00:30:13
the Pittsburgh Steelers turned it into a
00:30:16
50-yard play against the Chicago Bears.
00:30:19
Ben Johnson's locker room postgame
00:30:22
[music] speeches,
00:30:24
they border between corny or mo
00:30:27
inspirational.
00:30:29
You've got to beat Nick Serriani and the
00:30:32
Philadelphia Eagles who you who you
00:30:35
what's the word baited this off season
00:30:38
into running even more tush pushes
00:30:40
against you. It's a must win for Ben
00:30:42
Johnson and his boy genius reputation.
00:30:45
>> Wow.
00:30:46
>> Well, it is a mustwin for the Bears, but
00:30:49
not for those reasons.
00:30:52
>> It's a must win, but who are they? Like
00:30:54
one of the mantras of this show is not
00:30:57
the standings.
00:30:59
>> Eight and three. Okay, that's nice. So
00:31:02
what? Who have you beaten? You beat one
00:31:05
team with a winning record, Pittsburgh.
00:31:07
And that was with the backup
00:31:08
quarterback, Mason [music] Rudolph. Can
00:31:11
you beat Last time you played a team
00:31:14
with a winning record, they beat you
00:31:17
with Tyler Huntley and beat you badly.
00:31:20
And the time BEFORE THAT YOU PLAYED A
00:31:22
TEAM WITH THE WINNING RECORD, they beat
00:31:23
you by 31. So you can beat up on the
00:31:27
little chunk change in the league. But
00:31:29
how do you stack up against playoff
00:31:32
teams? Cuz that's where you trying to
00:31:34
get. And four of their last five games
00:31:36
after this one are against teams with
00:31:39
winning records. [music] So they got to
00:31:40
prove to themselves, not just us,
00:31:42
themselves that they are a legitimate
00:31:45
team.
00:31:46
>> Excellent.
00:31:48
I really liked yours. Thank you. I think
00:31:50
I think yours was excellent and I agree
00:31:52
with you. I think this is obviously a
00:31:54
must-win for for the Bears and and it's
00:31:57
it's for the reason that that you talked
00:31:59
about. [music] They've won eight out of
00:32:00
nine. They've won four in a row, but
00:32:02
they haven't beaten anybody that's had
00:32:04
any sort of signi [music] significance.
00:32:06
And if you want to be taken serious, you
00:32:08
got to beat someone who is serious. And
00:32:10
this will be their first opportunity to
00:32:11
do that. And at this point [music] with
00:32:14
Caleb, it's up and down. It's it's it's
00:32:17
is he has he turned the corner? Has he
00:32:18
not turned the corner? Nobody knows. And
00:32:21
and until he shows and can prove that he
00:32:23
can play with the legitimate contenders
00:32:25
in the league, we're just stuck where we
00:32:27
are. >> We were looking for must win for the
00:32:29
Eagles. No points awarded.
00:32:32
>> What? What?
00:32:33
>> I'm sorry. >> I would have given it to Brew. I thought
00:32:35
>> Thank you, coach.
00:32:36
>> Coach is just trying to prevent the
00:32:38
dynasty.
00:32:39
>> This is the bonus round.
00:32:41
>> And who gets to go last on this one?
00:32:42
>> You are running the anchor leg on this
00:32:44
one. Brew first.
00:32:46
>> Drew goes first.
00:32:48
>> Burrow's back and looking for a win
00:32:50
against Lamar. Hard to come by. Lamar
00:32:53
has owned this particular matchup. Six
00:32:55
wins to one. More yards, touchdowns,
00:32:58
turnovers.
00:33:00
Joe Burrow's got twice as many. Passer
00:33:02
rating about the same, but the nod goes
00:33:04
to [music] Lamar. This is your guy. Who
00:33:06
is this a must-win for?
00:33:07
>> This is a Lamar must cook. We must see
00:33:11
old Lamar. They've won five straight and
00:33:14
nobody's been that [music] impressed
00:33:15
with the offense. We're worried about
00:33:17
the offense, right? Lamar is 10-1
00:33:20
against the Bengals. 6-1 you had against
00:33:22
Burl. 10-1 against the Bengals. He has
00:33:25
owned them and they need to blow them
00:33:28
out. This is the worst defense in the
00:33:30
league in every way. Total defense,
00:33:32
scoring defense. They giving up 33
00:33:35
points a game. The Ravens not only need
00:33:37
to win, but they need to win
00:33:40
impressively, particularly
00:33:43
if they want to see the robe anytime
00:33:45
soon.
00:33:47
Just throwing that out there. That was
00:33:49
nice. [laughter] So, this is this is
00:33:52
obviously a must-win for the Bengals
00:33:54
currently. I went and looked at it.
00:33:56
They've got less than 1% chance of
00:33:58
making the playoffs, but here's the
00:33:59
reality. If they win out, then they have
00:34:01
a 46% chance of winning the playoffs.
00:34:03
They've won five games last year, so
00:34:05
there's [music] precedent here. And they
00:34:07
lost to Baltimore last year 4138 in
00:34:10
overtime and then 3534. [music]
00:34:12
So they were high-scoring games. So
00:34:14
they've shown that they can still be
00:34:15
high-scoring, but Baltimore hasn't
00:34:17
[music] shown the same thing since his
00:34:19
offense offense remains explosive even
00:34:21
with Flacco. This is a Jamar Chase uh
00:34:25
redemption game. So you've got that
00:34:27
going. And then there's [music] also the
00:34:29
element of you're risking your future by
00:34:31
bringing Joe Burrow back. So, you need
00:34:33
to make that count. And I'd say the last
00:34:35
thing is you can't win all five unless
00:34:37
you win this first one. And let me just
00:34:39
go to another stat here that I want to
00:34:41
bring up because talking [music] about
00:34:42
1%. So, just take a look at this. So,
00:34:45
here's the must-win right now. It's nine
00:34:47
to three for co nine wins to three wins
00:34:50
for coach and Greg. But look over here
00:34:52
at Upset Alert, the extensive lead that
00:34:55
we have. So, I'm not saying there's a
00:34:57
conspiracy, but since we have that lead
00:34:59
and Wilds is the judge, there may be a
00:35:02
little must-win bias. So, similar to my
00:35:05
1% chance for the Cincinnati Bengals,
00:35:07
that's similar to the chance that Greg
00:35:09
and I have on a weekly basis, which I
00:35:10
just thought we should all be aware of.
00:35:12
>> Wow.
00:35:13
>> Coach feels like a little bit of a low
00:35:15
blow, but [laughter]
00:35:16
not >> it did feel that way. Uh I wouldn't
00:35:19
impugn the integrity of the joke. not
00:35:21
impunity.
00:35:22
>> And I this is I'm just attempting to be,
00:35:26
you know, nimble on my feet. And coach,
00:35:30
what do [music] you say about
00:35:33
playing a game the way it's being
00:35:34
officiated, doing business as business
00:35:36
being done?
00:35:37
>> Mhm. >> Now that I know we're a little loose on
00:35:41
the regulations, I'm going to give you
00:35:43
my real answer. This is more so than any
00:35:46
of the other games and obvious to
00:35:48
everyone. a double must win for the
00:35:51
Bengals. This is the only hope
00:35:55
>> that they have to coach's point of
00:35:56
saving their season and for Jamar Chase
00:36:00
to save a bit of his reputation after a
00:36:02
very nice long apology note. But we all
00:36:05
feel they could have given the Patriots
00:36:06
more of a scare had he been there and he
00:36:08
watches T. Higgins get knocked out of
00:36:10
the game. And does Zack Taylor survive
00:36:13
three straight seasons of missing the
00:36:15
playoffs? For the Ravens on the other
00:36:17
hand, we've been talking for a month
00:36:19
that get Lamar back, beat the cupcakes,
00:36:23
be six and five going into this game.
00:36:26
Now all of a sudden, this game it's not
00:36:28
a cupcake because you are facing Joe
00:36:30
Burrow. If you lose for to Joe Burrow
00:36:33
and the Bengals in their first game
00:36:34
back, you give them life to make the
00:36:36
postseason. You squander your two days
00:36:39
of a lead in the AFC North and we start
00:36:41
wondering, oh, could it possibly be that
00:36:44
removing Papa Shot didn't fix a
00:36:46
professional football team? But either
00:36:49
team that loses is in a bit of crisis.
00:36:52
That is the definitional double must
00:36:54
win. Unbelievable.
00:36:55
>> Ride my coat today.
00:36:56
>> Exactly. Because you started double must
00:36:58
win earlier. And I specifically wrote in
00:37:00
the document,
00:37:02
>> there will be no double must wins. We
00:37:04
are reintroducing scarcity. [music]
00:37:06
And in three questions, we got two of
00:37:08
them. COACH TAKES IT. [laughter]
00:37:10
COACH WINS ON THE TECHNICALITY.
00:37:13
CONGRATULATIONS, [laughter] COACH. Your
00:37:15
first must win in ages.
00:37:17
>> Wow. Unbelievable.
00:37:19
>> Dynasty's over.
