Doch es nützt nichts. Die berühmten Gebäude müssen für ein neues Wohngebiet weichen. Prenzlauer Berg und Pankow - zwei Stadtbezirke, die nah beieinander liegen und doch verschieden sind. Im „ollen Prenzlberg“, wie Einheimische sagen, reiht sich eine Mietskaserne an die andere. Auf den ersten Hinterhof folgt der zweite, auf den zweiten der dritte und auf den dritten der vierte. Auf dem Kollwitzplatz treffen sich tagsüber die Familien und abends die Jugend-Cliquen.
