00:00:00
hello and welcome back to honest and
00:00:02
truck where today I'll be giving you a
00:00:03
few tips on how to prevent grabbing the
00:00:05
chain part of the nunchuck while you're
00:00:07
trying to perform your wrist rolls a
00:00:08
very common request that has been made
00:00:11
on a lot of my tutorials on wrist rolls
00:00:13
is to help people prevent grabbing the
00:00:16
chain while they're performing them this
00:00:18
is a very common issue and today I'll be
00:00:19
addressing just that if you'd like to
00:00:21
see in-depth tutorials to some of the
00:00:23
wrist rolls that I'll be performing in
00:00:24
this tutorial be sure to either click up
00:00:26
here or check the links in description
00:00:27
below getting to it's one of the most
00:00:29
fundamental issues that people have when
00:00:31
performing wrist rolls is that they
00:00:32
either over rotate the wrist or under
00:00:35
rotate the wrist what I mean by this is
00:00:37
that they're either letting the
00:00:38
nunchucks rotate too many times around
00:00:40
allowing them to miss the nunchuck and
00:00:42
grab the chain part of nunchuck or
00:00:44
they're not letting the nunchuck rotate
00:00:46
enough so that they end up grabbing a
00:00:48
chain instead of the other nunchuck in
00:00:50
order to figure out which one of these
00:00:51
two you're doing go through the motions
00:00:53
of your wrist roll step by step and
00:00:55
slowly so for instance for the most
00:00:58
basic wrist roll the front grip tobacker
00:01:00
bris roll start out by holding on you're
00:01:02
not checking a front grip like this take
00:01:04
your other hand and use that hand in
00:01:06
this case just for demonstration
00:01:08
purposes to bring the nunchuck across
00:01:10
the back of your hand like this and
00:01:12
behind the nunchuck that you're holding
00:01:13
on to make sure the chain is resting
00:01:16
across the top of your hand when you
00:01:17
release the nunchuck that you're holding
00:01:18
on to so you go from holding onto that
00:01:21
nunchuck and holding it horizontally
00:01:22
like this to letting it go and releasing
00:01:24
it so it goes downwards from here simply
00:01:27
turn your hand so instead of pointing
00:01:30
downwards it is now pointing off to the
00:01:32
side away from you so you turn your hand
00:01:34
to grab the other nunchuck that is
00:01:36
hanging downwards so with your hand
00:01:38
facing downwards release the nunchuck
00:01:40
and turn your hand to grab the other
00:01:42
nunchuck allowing the chain to roll
00:01:44
across the top of your hand like this
00:01:46
grab the other end in a back grip before
00:01:49
swinging the other end around going
00:01:52
through this pattern very slowly will
00:01:54
give you the fundamentals that you need
00:01:56
in order to learn the full move
00:01:58
correctly taking it step by step like
00:02:01
this is a great way in order to learn
00:02:02
all wrist rolls because if you simply
00:02:04
grab the nunchucks and start spinning
00:02:06
them in a random direction you're very
00:02:08
likely not to succeed with what you're
00:02:09
trying to do so instead really slowly go
00:02:13
through all the motions allowing the
00:02:15
Nunchuk to rotate with the help of your
00:02:18
other hand so that you can learn to
00:02:20
perform the move another thing to
00:02:21
consider is the length of chain or
00:02:23
string holding your nunchucks together
00:02:25
if you have longer your nunchucks you
00:02:27
may need the rope to slide slightly more
00:02:29
along your hand before you can turn your
00:02:32
hand and grab that end of the nunchuck
00:02:34
whereas if you have a shorter chain in
00:02:36
between your nunchucks you may not need
00:02:38
to do as much a rotation until you're
00:02:41
able to grab the other end for the
00:02:43
backup tobacker burst will start out in
00:02:45
a backrub so if you stick out your thumb
00:02:46
you're pointing to the end part of the
00:02:47
nunchaku not the chain from here allow
00:02:50
the nunchuck to rotate across the top of
00:02:53
your hand like this so your hand is
00:02:54
facing outwards if you open your hand
00:02:56
the palm of your hand is facing upwards
00:02:58
on the other end of the nunchuck to
00:03:00
rotate across the top of your hand like
00:03:02
this use your other hand as assistance
00:03:05
in the beginning so that you know where
00:03:07
the nunchuck is supposed to swing before
00:03:09
attempting to swing it on your own from
00:03:11
here release the nunchuck that you're
00:03:12
holding on to and with your hands still
00:03:15
facing upwards begin to rotate it so
00:03:18
that it goes downwards before going off
00:03:20
to the side so you rotate it into the
00:03:23
center and then off to the side so you
00:03:25
can catch the other end of the nunchuck
00:03:27
as it swings around before swinging the
00:03:29
other end around so that you have your
00:03:30
completed move so with the chain going
00:03:32
across the top of your wrist like this
00:03:34
release the nunchuck that you're holding
00:03:35
on to and allow it to continue spinning
00:03:38
as your nunchucks rotate the nunchuck
00:03:41
that you were not holding on to will
00:03:44
begin to rotate into your hand so all
00:03:45
you have to do is turn your hand so it
00:03:47
goes slightly towards in front of your
00:03:50
body so you turn your hand from going
00:03:51
upwards to like this so that your palm
00:03:54
is facing towards the center of your
00:03:56
body and then allow the other end of the
00:03:58
nunchuck to rotate upwards in your hand
00:04:01
for grabbing it and swinging the other
00:04:02
end around so the way that a person can
00:04:05
get from performing a wrist roll like
00:04:07
this to performing a restore like this
00:04:10
is through steps so after you've gone
00:04:14
through and performed each part of the
00:04:16
wrist roll and understand the different
00:04:18
motions that you need you can begin to
00:04:20
break certain parts down in order to
00:04:22
make the move look more fluid and
00:04:24
functional once you've gotten the hang
00:04:26
of walking through the steps and
00:04:27
forming the individual steps of a wrist
00:04:29
roll and have got the hang of where the
00:04:31
nunchucks supposed to be positioned and
00:04:33
the chain part of the nunchuck you can
00:04:35
begin to walk through the steps a little
00:04:37
differently and make small adjustments
00:04:38
so that you can make the motion more
00:04:40
fluid for instance the first thing you
00:04:42
can do is begin by swinging the nunchuck
00:04:44
across the top of your hand like this
00:04:45
instead of using your other hand to
00:04:47
bring the nunchuck across the top of
00:04:49
your hand this first swing will give you
00:04:51
the momentum that you need in order to
00:04:53
perform the move later on from here you
00:04:56
can still continue by slowly performing
00:04:58
the step of transitioning over to the
00:05:00
other nunchuck before swinging the other
00:05:02
end around without using your other hand
00:05:04
as assistance after practicing these
00:05:07
different stages you can begin to make
00:05:09
your wrist rolls more and more fluid so
00:05:12
that they begin to look like actual
00:05:13
wrist rolls at the end the final step
00:05:15
after you've completed a fluid wrist
00:05:17
roll is to begin practicing on speed and
00:05:21
making the nunchuck fall in your hand
00:05:22
every single time working through the
00:05:24
different steps of learning a wrist roll
00:05:26
in this way will allow you to be more
00:05:28
successful than by simply grabbing a
00:05:30
pair of nunchucks and trying to force
00:05:31
your way into a wrist roll this
00:05:33
technique of breaking down the
00:05:34
individual parts of the move can be very
00:05:36
helpful for a variety of different non
00:05:38
trick moves by performing and learning
00:05:40
in this way you'll be able to perform
00:05:42
moves more successfully and learn them a
00:05:44
lot faster so I hope that you learned
00:05:45
something today don't forget to Like
