00:00:00
hey everybody I'm Yvonne Williams with
00:00:02
back to earth creations and in this
00:00:04
video I want to show you all how to make
00:00:06
full Persian 6 and 1 which if you're
00:00:10
familiar with the half Persian 3 in-1
00:00:11
this is way easier let's get started for
00:00:17
this project I'm using 18 gauge 1/4 inch
00:00:22
swg which is like standard wire gauge
00:00:26
rings in nickel or German silver and
00:00:30
then 3 tones in I believe this is bronze
00:00:35
copper and antique copper of rings made
00:00:39
from para wire
00:00:40
they'll be links to all the different
00:00:41
tools and materials used down in the
00:00:43
video description below so be sure to
00:00:44
check that out and for this project you
00:00:47
can see I have all of these little rows
00:00:49
set up and you'll want units of two open
00:00:54
with two closed on one of them so you
00:00:58
can kind of see how that works and if
00:01:00
you're new to my chain maille tutorials
00:01:02
that'll start to make sense a little
00:01:04
later on so to open a ring you'll just
00:01:08
kind of bend it like so you don't ever
00:01:13
want to pull the ring apart in this
00:01:16
manner because it's gonna give you a
00:01:18
brittle point right there and then
00:01:19
you're gonna have a heck of a time
00:01:21
trying to get it to become a nice little
00:01:22
circle again it's very likely that your
00:01:27
rings will look like this
00:01:30
and you can see it has a look it's a
00:01:36
little offset but not quite open or
00:01:41
closed you know if one way or the other
00:01:42
to be very useful for weaving train
00:01:44
wheels so to close it we're gonna but
00:01:46
those ends up just as good as we can
00:01:48
together and I put a little bit of
00:01:51
pressure this way because whenever the
00:01:52
Rings are being cut it's with them a
00:01:54
rotary like a little little jeweler saw
00:01:57
and so it removes some of the material
00:02:00
so you want to make you want to
00:02:01
compensate for that gap and then you
00:02:03
want to make sure that it's just as
00:02:05
lined up as you can get it and sometimes
00:02:07
that means overextending and just keep
00:02:11
wiggling it until you get it to be
00:02:13
you like I feel like the goal here is to
00:02:19
make it look like there's no cut in the
00:02:21
ring and so there we are
00:02:30
now the first segment that we have is
00:02:33
going to have foreclosed on it and
00:02:36
that's going to assist us in starting
00:02:38
off the weave so and two more closed
00:02:48
I really recommend having all of your
00:02:50
rings set up that way you can go ahead
00:02:52
and just focus on your weaving and but
00:02:56
to each their own so we have one open
00:02:58
with foreclosed on it here and that
00:03:03
happens and it's okay I'm just going to
00:03:09
wrench that shut line those ends up with
00:03:11
each other
00:03:12
just as well as we can and put it with
00:03:15
your finger to check for any pokey bits
00:03:17
and so you see how that worked and now
00:03:20
I'm going to thread the second open ring
00:03:24
through all four and then close that one
00:03:33
and so now we're going to separate out
00:03:35
so that we have a little bit of a - to
00:03:38
chain - rings - rings - rings but then
00:03:43
we're going to sandwich our left - in
00:03:48
between our right - so that it looks
00:03:51
like that see how that works
00:04:01
and then if we rotate it around I'm
00:04:04
gonna get my thumbnail kind of between
00:04:06
these two because what we're going to do
00:04:14
next is take this ring and hook through
00:04:20
those two do you see so it's our
00:04:28
actually our left farthest to and
00:04:36
actually let me get these extra rings
00:04:37
off so that it's a little bit clearer
00:04:39
and I'll repeat that for you
00:04:41
so we have our segment of two to chain
00:04:44
we're just gonna sandwich that in
00:04:47
between and it can be quite slippery
00:04:52
here to start with that's okay then
00:04:56
we're gonna take our open ring hook
00:05:00
through this one I'm gonna use it to
00:05:02
nudge apart these two and just get in
00:05:11
right there see how it's hooked and then
00:05:16
put the farthest ring away from us on
00:05:18
there as well now we can troubleshoot
00:05:21
here a little bit you can see on this
00:05:22
side I didn't hook through I need to be
00:05:25
in between these two so you just back up
00:05:28
a little bit and get it to go through
00:05:31
where it's supposed to and it's just
00:05:35
gonna sit like that not gonna lie
00:05:38
starting this weave is the hardest part
00:05:41
about it and so we're gonna go ahead put
00:05:45
on those two closed rings this is
00:05:47
another weave that works really well
00:05:49
with stretchy rubber rings because you
00:05:51
can see these two well you could close
00:05:54
this one and then add two rings on these
00:05:57
two that I'm holding in my fingers could
00:05:59
be rubber since that you never really
00:06:01
have to have them open for the weave
00:06:02
when you're reading it in this manner so
00:06:06
I'm gonna pick up a second
00:06:07
bronze-colored ring and just thread
00:06:10
right back through where we originally
00:06:15
had see how that kind of sit and it's
00:06:19
gonna take some finagling but I have
00:06:22
confidence in you that you can do this
00:06:25
just keep in mind if it were easy
00:06:28
everybody could do it and not everybody
00:06:29
gets the hang of chainmail but if you're
00:06:32
inspired by it if you really you know
00:06:34
want to then keep at it and you'll
00:06:36
you'll get it oops and I closed that one
00:06:38
before hooking it through those two so
00:06:41
let's get that open back up hook down
00:06:47
there and then close it once you get
00:06:51
about an inch of the way in its gonna
00:06:53
make a lot more sense because now from
00:06:55
here we'll take and we need them to be
00:06:59
positioned on either side of this little
00:07:02
Center they look like a bunch of like
00:07:04
little stacked V's if that makes sense
00:07:11
see how they kind of stuck together now
00:07:14
here's a completed example that I can
00:07:17
show you so we're gonna kind of just
00:07:21
keep that going so I'm gonna grab the
00:07:28
next nickel silver pair and I go ahead
00:07:32
and let them just flop open and then
00:07:35
open and then hook through this one here
00:07:40
hook through those two and then hook
00:07:43
through the outside ring see much easier
00:07:46
that was now that we've got just a
00:07:47
couple of rings going give us something
00:07:50
to hold on to and then we're gonna close
00:07:51
it and then we're going to thread our
00:07:54
second open ring through the mess of
00:07:59
them which again you know what you'll
00:08:03
want to make sure that you're not
00:08:04
hooking through any of the other rings
00:08:09
hook those two closed on and then close
00:08:13
that one I found that sometimes having
00:08:16
your ring be open just a little bit
00:08:17
wider than what you normally might can
00:08:19
help so experiment with things like that
00:08:22
to find what works best for you placing
00:08:26
those on either side and then coming in
00:08:30
with our copper rings and again letting
00:08:34
it fall open and opening those guys a
00:08:37
bit so you can see the two rings that
00:08:39
you need to be hooking through coming
00:08:42
from right there
00:08:44
hooking through both and then hooking
00:08:47
through the outside and close
00:08:54
and then we're gonna follow through with
00:08:57
one more ring just like that hook the
00:09:06
two closed on
00:09:12
and then and then from here we want to
00:09:19
make sure that one ring gets sided over
00:09:22
so that it's sandwiched into that V and
00:09:28
then you just repeat that same thing
00:09:30
like a bunch of times and are a full
00:09:34
person part of what's really nice about
00:09:40
this weave is its movement
00:09:42
it's a almost a very sensual weave it
00:09:45
drapes and flows and Wiggles really
00:09:47
nicely whenever you have little segments
00:09:51
of it just bring in this around this is
00:09:58
another weave that I highly recommend in
00:10:00
aspect ratio of around like five five
00:10:02
and a half as long as you stick to that
00:10:06
aspect ratio you can use like a couple
00:10:11
of different ring sizes to give it more
00:10:13
of a gradiated you know from like small
00:10:15
to large or from large to small for
00:10:18
earrings or to make a little bit of a
00:10:21
wave necklace or you know just give some
00:10:24
weight and movement to the piece you can
00:10:28
really add some different beads and
00:10:31
things to the edges or to the ends to
00:10:35
make it really nice so I highly
00:10:40
recommend though experimenting different
00:10:43
colors different sizes just see what you
00:10:45
like see what happens
00:10:48
putting the one on either side and then
00:10:53
whenever I finish the weave I would go
00:10:55
through and just hook
00:11:03
and open without any closed on it
00:11:06
through like that and I would double up
00:11:09
on that so I'll go ahead and demonstrate
00:11:10
this even though I'm gonna be continuing
00:11:13
this project onto something else but
00:11:16
just for the sake of demonstration so
00:11:21
it'll just add the two open without any
00:11:24
of the additional closed on it you can
00:11:26
see that makes a really nice bound off
00:11:28
end and then also if you want to take it
00:11:33
a step further and use these to link
00:11:35
together with like maybe a gemstone bead
00:11:38
in between the different segments here
00:11:43
I'm using an 18 gauge 3/16 and I'm gonna
00:11:47
come in not where we would normally
00:11:49
weave but kind of on the diagonal and
00:11:52
I'm hooking through all four rings see
00:11:58
how that happened so it kind of pushes
00:12:00
them into an X and I feel like that just
00:12:06
tapers the end off really nicely so I do
00:12:09
it to both ends and that gives me little
00:12:18
rings that I can attach Ratt gemstone
00:12:21
links on to or other chainmail weaves or
00:12:25
anything like that or attach it to an
00:12:29
ear hook for an earring so the
00:12:35
possibilities here really are endless
00:12:41
