00:00:00
in this video i'll be showing you how to
00:00:02
install universal g-code sender onto a
00:00:04
raspberry pi
00:00:08
so before i start the video this is my
00:00:10
cnc router i made for about 400
00:00:13
i would definitely check out the
00:00:14
previous parts to this video if you
00:00:16
haven't seen them already
00:00:17
[Music]
00:00:20
so i start off by downloading raspberry
00:00:22
pi os onto an sd card
00:00:30
[Music]
00:00:37
after it's done downloading i inserted
00:00:39
the sd card into my raspberry pi
00:00:42
and connected it to an external monitor
00:00:46
unfortunately i couldn't figure out how
00:00:48
to get a screen recorder onto my
00:00:49
raspberry pi so i'm going to try my best
00:00:51
to record the process i took
00:00:53
i'll also have a detailed step-by-step
00:00:55
instructions in the description below
00:00:59
then i downloaded the raspberry pi
00:01:01
version of the universal g-code sender
00:01:07
after i downloaded it i placed it in its
00:01:09
own folder then proceeded to extract it
00:01:18
[Music]
00:01:23
so at this point i opened up the
00:01:24
terminal and typed sudo apt-get update
00:01:39
[Music]
00:01:42
after that finished i typed in sudo
00:01:44
apt-get
00:01:46
dist upgrade
00:01:55
after that is done i typed in sudo raspy
00:01:58
config
00:01:59
i selected advanced options
00:02:07
then gl driver
00:02:14
so this setting is determined based off
00:02:15
of your external screen
00:02:17
in this case i'm using a monitor so i'll
00:02:19
be selecting full kms then after that i
00:02:22
restarted my raspberry pi
00:02:26
so to install java i opened up the
00:02:28
terminal and typed in
00:02:29
sudo apt get install open jdk
00:02:32
8 jdk
00:02:42
[Music]
00:02:43
after java installs i went back to my
00:02:46
universal gcode sender folder and i
00:02:48
opened up the start file
00:02:49
by using the terminal the first startup
00:02:51
may take a while
00:02:54
[Music]
00:02:59
if you're having problems leave a
00:03:00
question
00:03:03
on that below going crazy
00:03:20
[Music]
00:03:23
so at this point i set up my monitor in
00:03:25
my workshop and connected it to the
00:03:27
raspberry pi
00:03:29
and now we open up the universal g-code
00:03:44
sender
00:03:56
now i test the controls to make sure it
00:03:58
works my only complaint is is that when
00:04:00
i run a g-code program the visualizer
00:04:02
window doesn't work
00:04:03
so if you have any solutions for that
00:04:05
leave it in the comments
00:04:17
other than the visualizer not working
00:04:19
this seems to work extremely well
00:04:21
it definitely beats bringing up my
00:04:22
laptop whenever i want to use my cnc
00:04:25
[Music]
00:04:26
router
00:04:28
[Music]
00:04:30
i hope this video was helpful and thank
00:04:32
you for watching
