gun staring at the sky waiting to figure00:01:35

and after a few seconds out of the mist00:01:38
walks a badly wounded german soldier so00:01:40
it is his enemy00:01:41
but he wasn't carrying a weapon and he00:01:44
didn't appear to understand he was00:01:45
walking directly into henry's sights00:01:47
henry aimed his rifle right at this00:01:49
german man's heart but he didn't pull00:01:51
the trigger and the man just continued to walk00:01:53
directly towards henry until he got00:01:55
about 30 meters away00:01:56
at which point he stopped and looked up00:01:58
and realized his mistake but instead of00:02:00
trying to run away00:02:01
he just stood there and stared at henry00:02:03
seeming to accept the fact that he was00:02:05
about to die00:02:06
now henry had shot many men during the00:02:08

but he just could not bring himself to00:02:11
shoot this unarmed wounded german who00:02:13

and then he lowered his gun and then00:02:24
henry and this german man just stared at00:02:26

feeling she shook her husband awake and told him00:03:03
about it she thought that maybe00:03:04
something was wrong00:03:05

just had a bad dream and you're kind of00:03:08
waking up still half in your dream00:03:10
it's not a big deal just go back to bed00:03:12

dream and she laid back down to try to go back00:03:22
to sleep but as she laid there00:03:24
that sense of dread that something was00:03:26
wrong and that she had to leave00:03:28
right now it was just growing and00:03:30
growing and growing until she just00:03:32
jumped out of the bed and she's just00:03:33
standing in the room00:03:34
and she says to her husband honey we00:03:36
gotta go right now i don't know what's00:03:38
wrong but we gotta go right now and her00:03:40
husband did not wanna go00:03:42

bed it's not a big deal but she was00:03:45

leaving right now and so begrudgingly00:03:49

we'll leave right now and so the two of00:03:51
them hastily packed up and then went00:03:53
downstairs and left a note for their00:03:55
relatives explaining their absence00:03:57
and then they got in their car and they00:03:59
drove off after a little while the00:04:00
couple reached a very dangerous section00:04:02
of their journey back home00:04:04
it was called bullion bend and it was a00:04:06
very windy road00:04:07
up in the mountains where one wrong turn00:04:09
and you're going flying down the side of00:04:11
a mountain after driving through this area for00:04:13
about 15 minutes they rounded a00:04:15
particularly sharp turn00:04:17
and as soon as they made the turn and00:04:18
could look down the road00:04:20
debra who was in the passenger seat she00:04:22
saw up ahead00:04:23
on the right off the side of the road00:04:24
several feet something that was just00:04:27
lying there on the side of the road she00:04:28
didn't know what it was she thought it00:04:29
was maybe a bag or00:04:31
some trash or maybe a dead animal and at00:04:33
first she was just gonna dismiss it but00:04:35
as her husband drove closer and closer00:04:36
to it00:04:37
the light began to illuminate it and she00:04:39
looked at it and couldn't really discern00:04:40
what it was00:04:41
until they were right next to it and she00:04:43
looked out her window and she noticed00:04:45
it was a woman's body a woman who had no00:04:47
clothes on he was just lying there00:04:49
totally motionless00:04:50
and debra immediately turns to her00:04:52
husband and says honey i just saw a dead00:04:53
woman on the side of the road and her00:04:55
husband immediately is kind of panicked00:04:57
and doesn't slow down he just keeps00:04:58
driving and says hey you know should we00:05:00
stop should we turn around i mean maybe00:05:01
she's not dead maybe we can help her00:05:03
but debra at this point is not terrified00:05:05
and she's saying no keep going don't go00:05:07
back i bet it's a trap someone probably put00:05:09
her there and they're gonna lure us00:05:10
in and they're gonna attack us if we try00:05:12
to stop and help her and so in this kind00:05:13
of chaotic frenzied reaction that debra00:05:16
and her husband are having00:05:17
they decide that their best course of00:05:18
action is just to drive on and find the00:05:21
next pay phone and call the police and00:05:23
it just so happened that less than a00:05:24
quarter of a mile away00:05:26
was a ranger station with a phone and so00:05:28
they pull into the parking lot and debra00:05:29
calls the police00:05:30
the police tell her to wait inside of00:05:32
her car and they'll be out in a couple00:05:34
of minutes and they're going to need her00:05:35
to bring them up to where she saw this00:05:36
body00:05:37
so a couple of minutes goes by the00:05:39
police show up and they tell them to00:05:40
drive back up the road00:05:42
but stop about 200 yards short of where00:05:44
you believe this woman's body is and so00:05:46
debra and her husband they get back in00:05:48
the car they drive back up the road where they00:05:50
came from and right at this point00:05:52
where the road turned very sharply is00:05:54
where debra knew00:05:55
on the other side of this turn would be00:05:56
this body and so they pulled over on the00:05:58
side of the road the police came up on00:06:00
their side00:06:01
and they said yep right around the00:06:02
corner you're going to find her lying on00:06:03
the ground on the left side00:06:05
and so debra and her husband are just00:06:06
sitting in the car watching as the00:06:08
police go up they make that turn00:06:10
and they kind of disappear out of sight00:06:12
and then they see their spotlight moving00:06:13
around on the other side of this turn00:06:15
and so they figure okay they're looking00:06:17
for the body but after several minutes the police00:06:19
came back down the road00:06:20
and they stopped next to deborah's car00:06:22
and they said you know what guys we00:06:24
didn't see anything up there there00:06:25
wasn't a body there wasn't anything out00:06:27
of the ordinary and deborah would say to00:06:28

i'm not lying i know what i saw it was a00:06:31
woman's body00:06:32
right there in front of me i know it00:06:34
it's right over there and they would00:06:36
tell her that we believe you but we00:06:38
can't do anything because there's00:06:39
nothing up there and so they told debra00:06:41
and her husband to just head home and00:06:42

after deborah and her husband took off00:06:45
and were gone the two responding00:06:47
officers drove back to their police00:06:49
station and once they were inside they began00:06:51
speculating about what deborah might00:06:53
have seen00:06:54
and as they were talking another officer00:06:56
came into the station00:06:57
a guy by the name of rich strasser and00:06:59
he overhears them00:07:00
and he goes over he's intrigued and he00:07:02
asked them you know what happened what00:07:03
did you see and they explained to him00:07:04
that this woman deborah00:07:06
had spotted a supposed dead woman's body00:07:08
up on00:07:09
bully and bend and as soon as he heard00:07:11
bully and bend rich remembered that just00:07:13
a couple of days ago00:07:14
they had received a missing person00:07:16
report of a young woman00:07:17
named christine scubish and her young00:07:19
son named nick00:07:20
who had gone missing and the last place00:07:22
they had been seen was up on bullying00:07:24
bend00:07:25
and so rich wondered if maybe there was00:07:27
a body up there and maybe it was00:07:29
christine's and so the next morning00:07:31
rich got up early and he headed out to00:07:32
bully and bend and when he reached the00:07:34
exact spot where deborah had claimed to00:07:37
have seen this dead woman's body00:07:39
he found a children's shoe and so he00:07:41
stopped his car he got out he picked the00:07:42
shoe up00:07:43
and he's looking around and he's looking00:07:44
for anything else that's out of the00:07:46
ordinary but there's nothing on the road there's00:07:48
no skid marks there's no other debris00:07:50
there's no other clothes there's nothing00:07:51
and so he walks over to the guardrail00:07:53
that overlooks this very steep00:07:55
embankment00:07:56
and he looks down the other side and at00:07:57
first all he sees is just trees00:07:59
everywhere00:08:00
but as he's looking he thinks he sees00:08:01
more clothing farther down the mountain00:08:03
and so he climbs over the guardrail and00:08:05
he very carefully maneuvers his way down00:08:07
and after only a couple of seconds he00:08:08
reaches a clearing in the branches and00:08:10
the trees00:08:11
and you can see down to where the00:08:12
terrain kind of levels off and00:08:14
right down there is a smashed up red00:08:16
four-door sedan00:08:17
it was the same type of car that00:08:19
christine skoobish had been driving when00:08:21
she went missing00:08:22
and so rich ran down the mountain00:08:23
following debris all the way to this00:08:25
wrecked car00:08:26
he goes around to the driver's side and00:08:28
he looks inside and there in the00:08:29
driver's seat is christine skoobish00:08:31
and unfortunately she was deceased and00:08:34
then on the passenger seat is her son00:08:36
nikki and he is alive but barely he had00:08:39
gone five days00:08:40
without food or water and doctors would00:08:42
say when rich found him00:08:43
he probably only had about one maybe two00:08:46
hours before he would have died as well00:08:47
authorities believe christine fell00:08:49
asleep at the wheel and she drove off00:08:51
that embankment00:08:52
initially rich believed debra must have00:08:54
seen christine00:08:55
when she was driving through the00:08:56
mountains and saw that woman on the side00:08:58
of the road00:08:59
after her accident christine must have00:09:01
gotten out of her car and then climbed00:09:03
up that embankment and then laid on the00:09:05
road hoping someone would see her and then00:09:07
when no one stopped for her00:09:08
she went back down to her car where she00:09:10
ultimately died but00:09:11
according to the coroner that would have00:09:13
been impossible00:09:14
because when christine crashed off the00:09:17
road00:09:18
she died on impact five days before00:09:21
debra saw that woman on the side of the00:09:23
road so it could not have been00:09:25
christine to this day no one knows for00:09:27
sure who or what deborah saw on the side00:09:30

but it is objectively true that rich00:09:34
only investigated bullying bend and00:09:36
found nikki alive00:09:38
because of deborah's police report about00:09:41
this dead woman on the side of the road00:09:43
and debra was only on that road00:09:45
because she'd had this totally weird00:09:47
middle of the night urge to suddenly00:09:49
leave a relative's house00:09:50
and drive up into the mountains00:09:52

gardens apartment complex in north00:10:11
london began complaining about their drains00:10:13
being clogged up initially their00:10:15
landlord was dismissive00:10:16
and said oh it's just an old building00:10:18
it's old plumbing and that's why it's00:10:19
slow but eventually the landlord00:10:21
conceded and asked a plumber to come out00:10:23
and have a look and so on the evening of00:10:24
february 8th00:10:25
an experienced plumber named mike came00:10:27
out to cranley gardens and after00:10:29
learning what the complaints were00:10:30
he went around to the side of the00:10:32
building and he opened up a drain cover00:10:34
to have a look inside as expected when00:10:36
he shined his light down he saw wads of00:10:37
hair and napkins and other things kind00:10:39
of mashed together00:10:40
clogging up the pipes and so he reached00:10:42
in and began pulling the stuff out and00:10:44
putting it in a bucket right next to him00:10:46
and then after he had cleared the00:10:47
majority of the obstruction he reached00:10:49
his arm all the way into this pipe to00:10:51
feel around to see if there was anything00:10:53
in there that he just couldn't see00:10:54
and at some point as he was reaching00:10:56
when his arm was almost completely into00:10:57
this pipe00:10:58
his hand hit a major blockage and so he00:11:00
moved his fingers around to try to feel00:11:02
what it was but he couldn't tell it was00:11:04
something that was fairly soft00:11:05
but there were some hard things inside00:11:07
of it like sticks or rods00:11:09
so he grabbed a handful of this blockage00:11:11
and he pulled his arm back out of the00:11:13
pipe he opened his hand00:11:14
and what he was holding looks like00:11:16
ground meat but it wasn't any meat he00:11:18
had ever seen before00:11:19
and inside of this fleshy substance00:11:21
looked like little bits of bone00:11:23
now mike had cleared many pipes before00:11:25
and he had never seen00:11:27
meat be the reason for a blockage and so00:11:30
this whole situation just seemed really00:11:32
strange and he decided you know it's late i'll00:11:34

so he can see what this is too so mike00:11:38
puts the cap back on the drain pipe00:11:40
and he walks out from behind the00:11:41
building back out towards his truck00:11:43
parked on the road00:11:44
and as he's walking two of the residents00:11:46
of this complex come out00:11:47
and they say hey did you fix the00:11:48
blockage you know what was it and mike00:11:50
would say no00:11:51
he hadn't and then he just kind of00:11:52
blurted out that there was meat00:11:54
in the pipes that was what was causing00:11:56
the blockage and then one of these two00:11:58
residents says well00:11:59
i bet people are just flushing their00:12:00
kentucky fried chicken down the drains00:12:02
that's what's causing it00:12:03
mike looked at him and he was like yeah00:12:05
maybe and then he just turned around got00:12:06
in his truck and he drove away early the00:12:08
next morning00:12:09
mike and his supervisor came back to00:12:11
cranley gardens and they went around to00:12:13
the side of the building00:12:14
they undid that cap and then mike00:12:16
reached down inside00:12:17
expecting to feel this blockage but00:12:19
where it should have been00:12:20
there was nothing somebody had cleared00:12:22
the pipes and so mike and his supervisor00:12:24
are looking at each other00:12:26
and mike is like there's no way that00:12:27
cleared on its own someone had to have00:12:29
come out here and cleared it but i don't00:12:30
know why they would have done that00:12:32
and still had us come out but the men00:12:33
decide you know what maybe by chance it00:12:35
did just kind of slip through and00:12:37
cleared itself00:12:38
so let's just continue the process and00:12:39
make sure each of the apartment00:12:41
buildings their individual pipe is00:12:42
unobstructed00:12:44
and when they checked these pipes they00:12:45
found all of them were clear00:12:47
except for one apartment number 23 whose00:12:50
pipe was blocked up with more of this00:12:51

substance mike and his partner were00:12:53
already very suspicious of the fact that00:12:56
someone had snuck out here in the middle of the00:12:58
night and cleared the pipe probably they00:13:00
didn't know if that happened but it00:13:01
seemed likely00:13:02
and now they're finding more of this00:13:04
weird meat substance coming from a00:13:05
particular apartment00:13:07
and so the whole situation just seemed00:13:08
off and so they told the landlord that00:13:10
they were not going to touch this00:13:12
somebody else had to come out and deal00:13:13
with this00:13:14
and the landlord after finding out there00:13:16
was meat jammed in the pipes00:13:18
got really freaked out and called the00:13:19
police the police showed up they pulled00:13:21
this meat substance out of the pipes00:13:23
and they sent it to a mortuary where a00:13:25
pathologist looked at it and said this00:13:27
is meat00:13:28
it's human meat and in particular the00:13:30
stuff that was pulled out of apartment00:13:32
number 23's pipes00:13:33
is that of a human neck so the police go00:13:36
back to cranley gardens they go up to00:13:37

they knock on the door and when the door00:13:41
opens they're hit with this overwhelming00:13:43
stench of just00:13:44
rotting flesh and standing in the00:13:46
doorway of this apartment the owner of00:13:48
the apartment00:13:49
is this guy who's in his late 30s early00:13:51
40s who introduces himself as dennis00:13:53
nielsen00:13:54
and they say hey dennis can we have a00:13:55
look around your apartment and he says00:13:57
you know why00:13:58
and they say well we found human remains00:14:00
in your pipes and dennis immediately00:14:02
says oh my goodness i can't believe that00:14:04
that's horrible00:14:05
but the police are not buying it and00:14:07
they say you know what dennis tell us00:14:08
where the rest of the body is00:14:09
and at this dennis suddenly went00:14:11
expressionless emotionless00:14:13
and he just turns around and he points00:14:14
into his bedroom and he says00:14:16
it's in two plastic bags in my closet00:14:18
and so before the police go into his00:14:20
apartment to go inspect these bags00:14:22
they say dennis are there any other00:14:24
bodies in your apartment that we should00:14:25
know about00:14:26
and dennis sighs and he looks up to the00:14:28
ceiling and says00:14:29
yeah there's about 15 or 16 here it's a00:14:32
long story it goes way back i'd love to00:14:34
tell it to you get this off my chest00:14:36
and i'll do it at the police station so00:14:37
after dennis was arrested and brought to00:14:39
the station00:14:40
he told them his horrible story it had00:14:42
all started five years earlier in 197800:14:45
when dennis was 33. he was at a pub00:14:47
having some drinks by himself00:14:49
when a teenager came into the bar and00:14:51
attempted to buy an alcoholic drink and00:14:53
he was denied service00:14:54
and so dennis pulled him aside and said00:14:56
hey i'd be happy to give you a drink at00:14:57

apartment it's right down the road and00:14:59
the young man whose name was stephen was00:15:01
very excited about this and said great00:15:03
let's go once they arrived back and they were up00:15:05
in dennis's apartment the pair had lots00:15:07
of drinks and they were having fun and00:15:08
laughing00:15:09
and then at some point the pair climbed00:15:10
into bed together the next morning when00:15:12
dennis got up his new friend00:15:14
stephen was still sleeping right next to00:15:15
him and he had this sudden00:15:17
overwhelming sense of dread because he00:15:19
knew as soon as stephen woke up00:15:21
he would see this as a one-night stand00:15:23
and he would just leave he would not00:15:24
stick around00:15:25
and remain friends with dennis and00:15:27
dennis just did not like that idea he00:15:29
wanted stephen to stay and so he looked00:15:31
on the ground00:15:32
next to the bed and he saw the necktie00:15:34
that steven had been wearing was on the00:15:36
ground00:15:37
and so he got on the ground he grabbed00:15:38
the necktie he fashioned it into a noose00:15:41
and then he climbed back on the bed got00:15:42
on top of steven's chest00:15:44
and he looped the tie around his neck00:15:46
and then he pulled it as tight as he00:15:47

and as soon as it was tight dennis would00:15:49
tell police that stephen came alive00:15:52
and he began reaching for his neck and00:15:53
kicking dennis as hard as he could but00:15:55
he just can't get it off00:15:56
and at some point dennis said steven00:15:58
just seemed to give up00:15:59
he looked up at dennis and knew he00:16:01
wasn't going to get this off and that00:16:02
dennis was determined to kill him00:16:04
and so steven just allowed himself to go00:16:06
limp and then he slouched over and as00:16:08
soon as that happened dennis said he00:16:10
relaxed00:16:11
but as he's looking at stephen he00:16:12
realized he wasn't dead he was just00:16:14
unconscious00:16:15
and so dennis goes into the kitchen and00:16:17
he gets this huge plastic bucket00:16:19
and he fills it up with water and he00:16:20
sets it in the middle of his kitchen00:16:22
floor and then he gets a bunch of kitchen00:16:23
chairs and he lines them up like a table00:16:25
right in front of this bucket of water00:16:27
and then he drags steven's body into the00:16:29
kitchen and he lays him on his back00:16:31
on these chairs but makes sure his head00:16:33
is not resting on the chair his head is00:16:35
kind of dangling off the back of these00:16:37
chairs and then he grabbed that bucket of water00:16:39
and he slid it right underneath steven's00:16:41
head and then dennis got on top of the chairs00:16:43
on top of stephen and then he pressed00:16:45
the young man's face00:16:46
straight down so his head went backwards00:16:48
until his mouth and his nose were under00:16:50
the water and dennis held him like that00:16:52
until stephen regained consciousness but00:16:55
again he didn't fight it he knew he was doomed00:16:58
and after several minutes the bubble00:16:59
stopped coming to the surface and00:17:00
stephen was dead00:17:01
dennis pulled his victim off of the00:17:03
chairs he brought him into the living00:17:05
room and he sat him on a chair00:17:06
and then dennis went into the kitchen00:17:08
and he made himself a cup of coffee00:17:09
and he smoked some cigarettes and then00:17:11
he just stood in the doorway and00:17:13
