00:00:42
stories
00:00:49
in 1918 during world war one british
00:00:52
soldier henry tandy
00:00:54
found himself stationed inside of a
00:00:55
trench in northern france
00:00:57
by this point henry was already
00:00:58
considered a war hero and he would go on
00:01:00
to become the most decorated british
00:01:02
soldier in world war one but his awards
00:01:05
are not what he is remembered for on
00:01:06
september 28th of that year
00:01:08
after a long day of fighting henry was
00:01:10
propped up on the edge of his trench
00:01:12
looking out towards the german line it
00:01:14
was dark and quiet and there was mist in
00:01:16
the air and at some point henry noticed a figure
00:01:19
way off in the distance walking towards
00:01:20
him
00:01:21
henry instinctively raised his rifle but
00:01:23
he didn't pull the trigger
00:01:24
he wanted to make sure who he was
00:01:25
shooting was his enemy because it could
00:01:27
be one of their own men who got wounded
00:01:29
and was making his way back to the
00:01:31
trench and so henry's looking down his
00:01:33
gun staring at the sky waiting to figure
00:01:35
out who he is
00:01:36
and after a few seconds out of the mist
00:01:38
walks a badly wounded german soldier so
00:01:40
it is his enemy
00:01:41
but he wasn't carrying a weapon and he
00:01:44
didn't appear to understand he was
00:01:45
walking directly into henry's sights
00:01:47
henry aimed his rifle right at this
00:01:49
german man's heart but he didn't pull
00:01:51
the trigger and the man just continued to walk
00:01:53
directly towards henry until he got
00:01:55
about 30 meters away
00:01:56
at which point he stopped and looked up
00:01:58
and realized his mistake but instead of
00:02:00
trying to run away
00:02:01
he just stood there and stared at henry
00:02:03
seeming to accept the fact that he was
00:02:05
about to die
00:02:06
now henry had shot many men during the
00:02:08
war so far
00:02:09
but he just could not bring himself to
00:02:11
shoot this unarmed wounded german who
00:02:13
just looked kind of pathetic
00:02:15
and so with henry's gun still up he
00:02:16
glanced to his left and he glanced to
00:02:18
his right
00:02:19
to make sure nobody was watching none of
00:02:20
his comrades were going to see this
00:02:22
and then he lowered his gun and then
00:02:24
henry and this german man just stared at
00:02:26
each other for a while
00:02:27
until the german man just nodded his
00:02:29
thanks turned around and wandered back
00:02:31
into the mist out of sight
00:02:32
the man henry had just saved was adolf
00:02:34
hitler
00:02:37
[Music]
00:02:39
in the early morning hours of june 10th
00:02:41
1994
00:02:42
deborah hoyt suddenly woke up in the
00:02:44
middle of the night she and her husband
00:02:46
were staying with relatives in
00:02:47
sacramento california
00:02:48
and they were supposed to be there for
00:02:50
the next couple of days but as she was
00:02:52
sitting there she had this overwhelming urge to want
00:02:54
to leave right then and there
00:02:56
and head back to their home in lake
00:02:58
tahoe because she didn't really know
00:02:59
what to make of this overwhelming
00:03:01
feeling she shook her husband awake and told him
00:03:03
about it she thought that maybe
00:03:04
something was wrong
00:03:05
and he said you know what you probably
00:03:07
just had a bad dream and you're kind of
00:03:08
waking up still half in your dream
00:03:10
it's not a big deal just go back to bed
00:03:12
i'm sure everything is totally fine
00:03:14
and in the morning if you still want to
00:03:15
i'd be happy to leave and so debra said
00:03:17
yeah you're right i'm totally
00:03:18
overreacting i'm sure it was just a
00:03:20
dream and she laid back down to try to go back
00:03:22
to sleep but as she laid there
00:03:24
that sense of dread that something was
00:03:26
wrong and that she had to leave
00:03:28
right now it was just growing and
00:03:30
growing and growing until she just
00:03:32
jumped out of the bed and she's just
00:03:33
standing in the room
00:03:34
and she says to her husband honey we
00:03:36
gotta go right now i don't know what's
00:03:38
wrong but we gotta go right now and her
00:03:40
husband did not wanna go
00:03:42
and he said come on debra get back in
00:03:43
bed it's not a big deal but she was
00:03:45
adamant she said get out of bed we're
00:03:47
leaving right now and so begrudgingly
00:03:49
her husband said okay
00:03:50
we'll leave right now and so the two of
00:03:51
them hastily packed up and then went
00:03:53
downstairs and left a note for their
00:03:55
relatives explaining their absence
00:03:57
and then they got in their car and they
00:03:59
drove off after a little while the
00:04:00
couple reached a very dangerous section
00:04:02
of their journey back home
00:04:04
it was called bullion bend and it was a
00:04:06
very windy road
00:04:07
up in the mountains where one wrong turn
00:04:09
and you're going flying down the side of
00:04:11
a mountain after driving through this area for
00:04:13
about 15 minutes they rounded a
00:04:15
particularly sharp turn
00:04:17
and as soon as they made the turn and
00:04:18
could look down the road
00:04:20
debra who was in the passenger seat she
00:04:22
saw up ahead
00:04:23
on the right off the side of the road
00:04:24
several feet something that was just
00:04:27
lying there on the side of the road she
00:04:28
didn't know what it was she thought it
00:04:29
was maybe a bag or
00:04:31
some trash or maybe a dead animal and at
00:04:33
first she was just gonna dismiss it but
00:04:35
as her husband drove closer and closer
00:04:36
to it
00:04:37
the light began to illuminate it and she
00:04:39
looked at it and couldn't really discern
00:04:40
what it was
00:04:41
until they were right next to it and she
00:04:43
looked out her window and she noticed
00:04:45
it was a woman's body a woman who had no
00:04:47
clothes on he was just lying there
00:04:49
totally motionless
00:04:50
and debra immediately turns to her
00:04:52
husband and says honey i just saw a dead
00:04:53
woman on the side of the road and her
00:04:55
husband immediately is kind of panicked
00:04:57
and doesn't slow down he just keeps
00:04:58
driving and says hey you know should we
00:05:00
stop should we turn around i mean maybe
00:05:01
she's not dead maybe we can help her
00:05:03
but debra at this point is not terrified
00:05:05
and she's saying no keep going don't go
00:05:07
back i bet it's a trap someone probably put
00:05:09
her there and they're gonna lure us
00:05:10
in and they're gonna attack us if we try
00:05:12
to stop and help her and so in this kind
00:05:13
of chaotic frenzied reaction that debra
00:05:16
and her husband are having
00:05:17
they decide that their best course of
00:05:18
action is just to drive on and find the
00:05:21
next pay phone and call the police and
00:05:23
it just so happened that less than a
00:05:24
quarter of a mile away
00:05:26
was a ranger station with a phone and so
00:05:28
they pull into the parking lot and debra
00:05:29
calls the police
00:05:30
the police tell her to wait inside of
00:05:32
her car and they'll be out in a couple
00:05:34
of minutes and they're going to need her
00:05:35
to bring them up to where she saw this
00:05:36
body
00:05:37
so a couple of minutes goes by the
00:05:39
police show up and they tell them to
00:05:40
drive back up the road
00:05:42
but stop about 200 yards short of where
00:05:44
you believe this woman's body is and so
00:05:46
debra and her husband they get back in
00:05:48
the car they drive back up the road where they
00:05:50
came from and right at this point
00:05:52
where the road turned very sharply is
00:05:54
where debra knew
00:05:55
on the other side of this turn would be
00:05:56
this body and so they pulled over on the
00:05:58
side of the road the police came up on
00:06:00
their side
00:06:01
and they said yep right around the
00:06:02
corner you're going to find her lying on
00:06:03
the ground on the left side
00:06:05
and so debra and her husband are just
00:06:06
sitting in the car watching as the
00:06:08
police go up they make that turn
00:06:10
and they kind of disappear out of sight
00:06:12
and then they see their spotlight moving
00:06:13
around on the other side of this turn
00:06:15
and so they figure okay they're looking
00:06:17
for the body but after several minutes the police
00:06:19
came back down the road
00:06:20
and they stopped next to deborah's car
00:06:22
and they said you know what guys we
00:06:24
didn't see anything up there there
00:06:25
wasn't a body there wasn't anything out
00:06:27
of the ordinary and deborah would say to
00:06:28
police
00:06:29
i'm not lying i know what i saw it was a
00:06:31
woman's body
00:06:32
right there in front of me i know it
00:06:34
it's right over there and they would
00:06:36
tell her that we believe you but we
00:06:38
can't do anything because there's
00:06:39
nothing up there and so they told debra
00:06:41
and her husband to just head home and
00:06:42
they did
00:06:43
after deborah and her husband took off
00:06:45
and were gone the two responding
00:06:47
officers drove back to their police
00:06:49
station and once they were inside they began
00:06:51
speculating about what deborah might
00:06:53
have seen
00:06:54
and as they were talking another officer
00:06:56
came into the station
00:06:57
a guy by the name of rich strasser and
00:06:59
he overhears them
00:07:00
and he goes over he's intrigued and he
00:07:02
asked them you know what happened what
00:07:03
did you see and they explained to him
00:07:04
that this woman deborah
00:07:06
had spotted a supposed dead woman's body
00:07:08
up on
00:07:09
bully and bend and as soon as he heard
00:07:11
bully and bend rich remembered that just
00:07:13
a couple of days ago
00:07:14
they had received a missing person
00:07:16
report of a young woman
00:07:17
named christine scubish and her young
00:07:19
son named nick
00:07:20
who had gone missing and the last place
00:07:22
they had been seen was up on bullying
00:07:24
bend
00:07:25
and so rich wondered if maybe there was
00:07:27
a body up there and maybe it was
00:07:29
christine's and so the next morning
00:07:31
rich got up early and he headed out to
00:07:32
bully and bend and when he reached the
00:07:34
exact spot where deborah had claimed to
00:07:37
have seen this dead woman's body
00:07:39
he found a children's shoe and so he
00:07:41
stopped his car he got out he picked the
00:07:42
shoe up
00:07:43
and he's looking around and he's looking
00:07:44
for anything else that's out of the
00:07:46
ordinary but there's nothing on the road there's
00:07:48
no skid marks there's no other debris
00:07:50
there's no other clothes there's nothing
00:07:51
and so he walks over to the guardrail
00:07:53
that overlooks this very steep
00:07:55
embankment
00:07:56
and he looks down the other side and at
00:07:57
first all he sees is just trees
00:07:59
everywhere
00:08:00
but as he's looking he thinks he sees
00:08:01
more clothing farther down the mountain
00:08:03
and so he climbs over the guardrail and
00:08:05
he very carefully maneuvers his way down
00:08:07
and after only a couple of seconds he
00:08:08
reaches a clearing in the branches and
00:08:10
the trees
00:08:11
and you can see down to where the
00:08:12
terrain kind of levels off and
00:08:14
right down there is a smashed up red
00:08:16
four-door sedan
00:08:17
it was the same type of car that
00:08:19
christine skoobish had been driving when
00:08:21
she went missing
00:08:22
and so rich ran down the mountain
00:08:23
following debris all the way to this
00:08:25
wrecked car
00:08:26
he goes around to the driver's side and
00:08:28
he looks inside and there in the
00:08:29
driver's seat is christine skoobish
00:08:31
and unfortunately she was deceased and
00:08:34
then on the passenger seat is her son
00:08:36
nikki and he is alive but barely he had
00:08:39
gone five days
00:08:40
without food or water and doctors would
00:08:42
say when rich found him
00:08:43
he probably only had about one maybe two
00:08:46
hours before he would have died as well
00:08:47
authorities believe christine fell
00:08:49
asleep at the wheel and she drove off
00:08:51
that embankment
00:08:52
initially rich believed debra must have
00:08:54
seen christine
00:08:55
when she was driving through the
00:08:56
mountains and saw that woman on the side
00:08:58
of the road
00:08:59
after her accident christine must have
00:09:01
gotten out of her car and then climbed
00:09:03
up that embankment and then laid on the
00:09:05
road hoping someone would see her and then
00:09:07
when no one stopped for her
00:09:08
she went back down to her car where she
00:09:10
ultimately died but
00:09:11
according to the coroner that would have
00:09:13
been impossible
00:09:14
because when christine crashed off the
00:09:17
road
00:09:18
she died on impact five days before
00:09:21
debra saw that woman on the side of the
00:09:23
road so it could not have been
00:09:25
christine to this day no one knows for
00:09:27
sure who or what deborah saw on the side
00:09:30
of the road
00:09:31
but it is objectively true that rich
00:09:34
only investigated bullying bend and
00:09:36
found nikki alive
00:09:38
because of deborah's police report about
00:09:41
this dead woman on the side of the road
00:09:43
and debra was only on that road
00:09:45
because she'd had this totally weird
00:09:47
middle of the night urge to suddenly
00:09:49
leave a relative's house
00:09:50
and drive up into the mountains
00:09:52
something she had never felt before and
00:09:54
didn't really know how to explain
00:09:56
so either this is an extremely strange
00:09:58
set of circumstances
00:10:00
or nikki had a guardian angel
00:10:05
[Music]
00:10:06
in early 1983 residents of the cranley
00:10:09
gardens apartment complex in north
00:10:11
london began complaining about their drains
00:10:13
being clogged up initially their
00:10:15
landlord was dismissive
00:10:16
and said oh it's just an old building
00:10:18
it's old plumbing and that's why it's
00:10:19
slow but eventually the landlord
00:10:21
conceded and asked a plumber to come out
00:10:23
and have a look and so on the evening of
00:10:24
february 8th
00:10:25
an experienced plumber named mike came
00:10:27
out to cranley gardens and after
00:10:29
learning what the complaints were
00:10:30
he went around to the side of the
00:10:32
building and he opened up a drain cover
00:10:34
to have a look inside as expected when
00:10:36
he shined his light down he saw wads of
00:10:37
hair and napkins and other things kind
00:10:39
of mashed together
00:10:40
clogging up the pipes and so he reached
00:10:42
in and began pulling the stuff out and
00:10:44
putting it in a bucket right next to him
00:10:46
and then after he had cleared the
00:10:47
majority of the obstruction he reached
00:10:49
his arm all the way into this pipe to
00:10:51
feel around to see if there was anything
00:10:53
in there that he just couldn't see
00:10:54
and at some point as he was reaching
00:10:56
when his arm was almost completely into
00:10:57
this pipe
00:10:58
his hand hit a major blockage and so he
00:11:00
moved his fingers around to try to feel
00:11:02
what it was but he couldn't tell it was
00:11:04
something that was fairly soft
00:11:05
but there were some hard things inside
00:11:07
of it like sticks or rods
00:11:09
so he grabbed a handful of this blockage
00:11:11
and he pulled his arm back out of the
00:11:13
pipe he opened his hand
00:11:14
and what he was holding looks like
00:11:16
ground meat but it wasn't any meat he
00:11:18
had ever seen before
00:11:19
and inside of this fleshy substance
00:11:21
looked like little bits of bone
00:11:23
now mike had cleared many pipes before
00:11:25
and he had never seen
00:11:27
meat be the reason for a blockage and so
00:11:30
this whole situation just seemed really
00:11:32
strange and he decided you know it's late i'll
00:11:34
just come back tomorrow with my
00:11:35
supervisor
00:11:36
so he can see what this is too so mike
00:11:38
puts the cap back on the drain pipe
00:11:40
and he walks out from behind the
00:11:41
building back out towards his truck
00:11:43
parked on the road
00:11:44
and as he's walking two of the residents
00:11:46
of this complex come out
00:11:47
and they say hey did you fix the
00:11:48
blockage you know what was it and mike
00:11:50
would say no
00:11:51
he hadn't and then he just kind of
00:11:52
blurted out that there was meat
00:11:54
in the pipes that was what was causing
00:11:56
the blockage and then one of these two
00:11:58
residents says well
00:11:59
i bet people are just flushing their
00:12:00
kentucky fried chicken down the drains
00:12:02
that's what's causing it
00:12:03
mike looked at him and he was like yeah
00:12:05
maybe and then he just turned around got
00:12:06
in his truck and he drove away early the
00:12:08
next morning
00:12:09
mike and his supervisor came back to
00:12:11
cranley gardens and they went around to
00:12:13
the side of the building
00:12:14
they undid that cap and then mike
00:12:16
reached down inside
00:12:17
expecting to feel this blockage but
00:12:19
where it should have been
00:12:20
there was nothing somebody had cleared
00:12:22
the pipes and so mike and his supervisor
00:12:24
are looking at each other
00:12:26
and mike is like there's no way that
00:12:27
cleared on its own someone had to have
00:12:29
come out here and cleared it but i don't
00:12:30
know why they would have done that
00:12:32
and still had us come out but the men
00:12:33
decide you know what maybe by chance it
00:12:35
did just kind of slip through and
00:12:37
cleared itself
00:12:38
so let's just continue the process and
00:12:39
make sure each of the apartment
00:12:41
buildings their individual pipe is
00:12:42
unobstructed
00:12:44
and when they checked these pipes they
00:12:45
found all of them were clear
00:12:47
except for one apartment number 23 whose
00:12:50
pipe was blocked up with more of this
00:12:51
meaty
00:12:52
substance mike and his partner were
00:12:53
already very suspicious of the fact that
00:12:56
someone had snuck out here in the middle of the
00:12:58
night and cleared the pipe probably they
00:13:00
didn't know if that happened but it
00:13:01
seemed likely
00:13:02
and now they're finding more of this
00:13:04
weird meat substance coming from a
00:13:05
particular apartment
00:13:07
and so the whole situation just seemed
00:13:08
off and so they told the landlord that
00:13:10
they were not going to touch this
00:13:12
somebody else had to come out and deal
00:13:13
with this
00:13:14
and the landlord after finding out there
00:13:16
was meat jammed in the pipes
00:13:18
got really freaked out and called the
00:13:19
police the police showed up they pulled
00:13:21
this meat substance out of the pipes
00:13:23
and they sent it to a mortuary where a
00:13:25
pathologist looked at it and said this
00:13:27
is meat
00:13:28
it's human meat and in particular the
00:13:30
stuff that was pulled out of apartment
00:13:32
number 23's pipes
00:13:33
is that of a human neck so the police go
00:13:36
back to cranley gardens they go up to
00:13:37
apartment number 23
00:13:39
they knock on the door and when the door
00:13:41
opens they're hit with this overwhelming
00:13:43
stench of just
00:13:44
rotting flesh and standing in the
00:13:46
doorway of this apartment the owner of
00:13:48
the apartment
00:13:49
is this guy who's in his late 30s early
00:13:51
40s who introduces himself as dennis
00:13:53
nielsen
00:13:54
and they say hey dennis can we have a
00:13:55
look around your apartment and he says
00:13:57
you know why
00:13:58
and they say well we found human remains
00:14:00
in your pipes and dennis immediately
00:14:02
says oh my goodness i can't believe that
00:14:04
that's horrible
00:14:05
but the police are not buying it and
00:14:07
they say you know what dennis tell us
00:14:08
where the rest of the body is
00:14:09
and at this dennis suddenly went
00:14:11
expressionless emotionless
00:14:13
and he just turns around and he points
00:14:14
into his bedroom and he says
00:14:16
it's in two plastic bags in my closet
00:14:18
and so before the police go into his
00:14:20
apartment to go inspect these bags
00:14:22
they say dennis are there any other
00:14:24
bodies in your apartment that we should
00:14:25
know about
00:14:26
and dennis sighs and he looks up to the
00:14:28
ceiling and says
00:14:29
yeah there's about 15 or 16 here it's a
00:14:32
long story it goes way back i'd love to
00:14:34
tell it to you get this off my chest
00:14:36
and i'll do it at the police station so
00:14:37
after dennis was arrested and brought to
00:14:39
the station
00:14:40
he told them his horrible story it had
00:14:42
all started five years earlier in 1978
00:14:45
when dennis was 33. he was at a pub
00:14:47
having some drinks by himself
00:14:49
when a teenager came into the bar and
00:14:51
attempted to buy an alcoholic drink and
00:14:53
he was denied service
00:14:54
and so dennis pulled him aside and said
00:14:56
hey i'd be happy to give you a drink at
00:14:57
my
00:14:58
apartment it's right down the road and
00:14:59
the young man whose name was stephen was
00:15:01
very excited about this and said great
00:15:03
let's go once they arrived back and they were up
00:15:05
in dennis's apartment the pair had lots
00:15:07
of drinks and they were having fun and
00:15:08
laughing
00:15:09
and then at some point the pair climbed
00:15:10
into bed together the next morning when
00:15:12
dennis got up his new friend
00:15:14
stephen was still sleeping right next to
00:15:15
him and he had this sudden
00:15:17
overwhelming sense of dread because he
00:15:19
knew as soon as stephen woke up
00:15:21
he would see this as a one-night stand
00:15:23
and he would just leave he would not
00:15:24
stick around
00:15:25
and remain friends with dennis and
00:15:27
dennis just did not like that idea he
00:15:29
wanted stephen to stay and so he looked
00:15:31
on the ground
00:15:32
next to the bed and he saw the necktie
00:15:34
that steven had been wearing was on the
00:15:36
ground
00:15:37
and so he got on the ground he grabbed
00:15:38
the necktie he fashioned it into a noose
00:15:41
and then he climbed back on the bed got
00:15:42
on top of steven's chest
00:15:44
and he looped the tie around his neck
00:15:46
and then he pulled it as tight as he
00:15:47
could
00:15:48
and as soon as it was tight dennis would
00:15:49
tell police that stephen came alive
00:15:52
and he began reaching for his neck and
00:15:53
kicking dennis as hard as he could but
00:15:55
he just can't get it off
00:15:56
and at some point dennis said steven
00:15:58
just seemed to give up
00:15:59
he looked up at dennis and knew he
00:16:01
wasn't going to get this off and that
00:16:02
dennis was determined to kill him
00:16:04
and so steven just allowed himself to go
00:16:06
limp and then he slouched over and as
00:16:08
soon as that happened dennis said he
00:16:10
relaxed
00:16:11
but as he's looking at stephen he
00:16:12
realized he wasn't dead he was just
00:16:14
unconscious
00:16:15
and so dennis goes into the kitchen and
00:16:17
he gets this huge plastic bucket
00:16:19
and he fills it up with water and he
00:16:20
sets it in the middle of his kitchen
00:16:22
floor and then he gets a bunch of kitchen
00:16:23
chairs and he lines them up like a table
00:16:25
right in front of this bucket of water
00:16:27
and then he drags steven's body into the
00:16:29
kitchen and he lays him on his back
00:16:31
on these chairs but makes sure his head
00:16:33
is not resting on the chair his head is
00:16:35
kind of dangling off the back of these
00:16:37
chairs and then he grabbed that bucket of water
00:16:39
and he slid it right underneath steven's
00:16:41
head and then dennis got on top of the chairs
00:16:43
on top of stephen and then he pressed
00:16:45
the young man's face
00:16:46
straight down so his head went backwards
00:16:48
until his mouth and his nose were under
00:16:50
the water and dennis held him like that
00:16:52
until stephen regained consciousness but
00:16:55
again he didn't fight it he knew he was doomed
00:16:58
and after several minutes the bubble
00:16:59
stopped coming to the surface and
00:17:00
stephen was dead
00:17:01
dennis pulled his victim off of the
00:17:03
chairs he brought him into the living
00:17:05
room and he sat him on a chair
00:17:06
and then dennis went into the kitchen
00:17:08
and he made himself a cup of coffee
00:17:09
and he smoked some cigarettes and then
00:17:11
he just stood in the doorway and
00:17:13
looked at steven's body he would tell
00:17:14
police it was a very bizarre
00:17:16
experience because steven still looked
00:17:18
like he was alive in fact dennis would
00:17:20
try talking to him
00:17:21
as if he was going to talk back but
00:17:22
obviously he didn't at some point dennis
00:17:25
realized you know the life he had before
00:17:27
he killed stephen
00:17:28
was now over he had a new life and he
00:17:30
didn't really know how to handle
00:17:32
it and so the first thing he thought to
00:17:33
do was to clean stephen so he took
00:17:36
stephen's body and he brought him into
00:17:37
the bathroom
00:17:38
and he gave him a very long bath cleaned
00:17:40
his body cleaned his hair
00:17:41
and then afterwards he got him out he
00:17:43
dressed him and put him into his bed
00:17:45
and then dennis climbed into bed with
00:17:47
him and laid with him and he would tell
00:17:48
police
00:17:49
as he laid there he suddenly felt
00:17:51
overjoyed stephen was not going to leave
00:17:53
him he was going to stay here as long as
00:17:55
dennis wanted him to
00:17:56
after laying with him for some time
00:17:58
dennis realized he had to find a way to
00:18:00
hide steven's body in his apartment
00:18:03
so no one could find him and so he left
00:18:04
his apartment and he went to a hardware
00:18:06
store where he got an electric knife and
00:18:08
a big storage bin
00:18:09
he brought them back to his apartment
00:18:11
and as he was about to cut steven up he
00:18:13
just couldn't go through with it so
00:18:14
instead he just climbed into bed and
00:18:16
took a nap
00:18:17
next to stephen's body when he got up
00:18:19
again he moved steven's body onto the
00:18:21
ground in his living room
00:18:22
and covered him with a blanket and then
00:18:24
he went and made dinner and then sat
00:18:25
in his chair in the living room right
00:18:27
next to this body on the ground
00:18:29
and watch tv for a while when he was
00:18:30
done watching tv and eating he looked at
00:18:32
the body on the floor
00:18:34
and realized you know he really hadn't
00:18:35
made any progress in terms of hiding him
00:18:38
somewhere in his apartment and that's
00:18:39
when he remembered he had a loose
00:18:41
floorboard in his apartment and so he
00:18:42
went over to the loose floorboard he
00:18:44
pulled it up and he saw there was a
00:18:45
space under the floors and so he pulled
00:18:47
a couple more boards up
00:18:48
and then he grabbed steven's body and he
00:18:50
attempted to force him down into the
00:18:52
space but by now steven's body had begun to
00:18:54
stiffen up from rigor mortis
00:18:56
specifically his arms were outstretched
00:18:58
like a y over his head
00:19:00
and so as dennis is trying to force him
00:19:01
down in there his arms were not allowing
00:19:03
him to go down into that small space
00:19:05
so dennis took steven's body and he
00:19:07
propped him up against the wall in his
00:19:09
bedroom so the body is against the wall
00:19:11
rigid standing up with its arms up over
00:19:13
its head
00:19:14
and steven's eyes were still open and
00:19:16
then after that dennis just got in bed
00:19:18
and fell asleep
00:19:19
so all night this corpse is staring at
00:19:22
dennis in his bed
00:19:23
and then the next morning when dennis
00:19:25
got up there was stephen still up
00:19:26
against the wall with his hands in the
00:19:28
air looking down at him dennis grabbed
00:19:30
steven's body and put it on the ground
00:19:32
and he began yanking and jerking and
00:19:34
pulling on each of steven's arms until
00:19:36
they were pinned down by his side and
00:19:37
then after that dennis started working
00:19:39
on his legs and his hips and he began
00:19:41
contorting him until he was small enough
00:19:43
that he could pack him down under his
00:19:45
floor and then once he was under there
00:19:46
he just put the boards on top
00:19:48
and went about his daily life and for
00:19:50
the next couple of days he totally
00:19:51
forgot about steven but a week after
00:19:53
putting him under the floor
00:19:55
dennis decided he missed stephen and he
00:19:56
wanted to see him again
00:19:58
and so one night he opened up the
00:19:59
floorboards he looked down and there was
00:20:01
stephen
00:20:02
and dennis would say it looked like he
00:20:04
was dirty so he pulled him out of the
00:20:05
floor
00:20:06
and he gave him another bath and then
00:20:08
after he had cleaned stephen he pulled
00:20:09
him out of the water
00:20:10
he dried him off and he put him in the
00:20:12
chair and then dennis
00:20:13
took a bath himself in the same water he
00:20:16
had just used to clean steven
00:20:18
after a long soak in this tub dennis
00:20:20
finally got out he toweled himself off
00:20:22
he redressed steven and then he forced
00:20:24
him back onto the floorboards and
00:20:26
covered him up again and he would remain
00:20:27
there for the next seven months
00:20:29
until dennis finally decided to dispose
00:20:31
of him by burning him in a bonfire
00:20:33
outside of their apartment building
00:20:35
and then after the body was completely
00:20:36
incinerated and gone
00:20:38
dennis remembered thinking i can't
00:20:40
believe i just got away with murder
00:20:41
and so he would do it again and again
00:20:44
and again
00:20:45
killing at least 15 young men from north
00:20:47
london
00:20:48
all by strangulation or by drowning or
00:20:50
combination of the two
00:20:51
and after he killed them he would keep
00:20:53
them stashed in his apartment for months
00:20:56
at a time in his closet and his cabinets in his
00:20:58
bed under the floors
00:21:00
all over his apartment he had these
00:21:01
bodies and while these bodies were in
00:21:03
his apartment
00:21:04
he liked to periodically take them out
00:21:06
to spend time with them
00:21:07
he would tell police he found corpses to
00:21:09
be beautiful he was fascinated by them
00:21:11
but eventually
00:21:12
in 1983 he had so many bodies stashed
00:21:15
all over his apartment
00:21:17
that he knew he really needed to
00:21:18
expedite getting rid of them and so he
00:21:20
began cutting them up and trying to
00:21:22
force them down his drain
00:21:23
which eventually clogged the pipes and
00:21:25
so when mike the plumber showed up and
00:21:27
discovered this
00:21:28
meaty substance in the pipes and dennis
00:21:30
overheard him talking about it
00:21:32
that night after mike was gone dennis
00:21:34
had gone outside and attempted to clear
00:21:36
the rest of the remains from the pipes
00:21:37
but he wasn't aware there were still
00:21:39
remains stuck in the pipe that led to
00:21:41
his specific apartment
00:21:42
dennis nielsen confessed to killing 15
00:21:44
young men and attempting to kill at
00:21:46
least seven others and he was sentenced to
00:21:48
life in prison dennis never showed any
00:21:50
remorse nor did he show any desire to
00:21:52
want to be free again he actually said
00:21:54
he deserved to be in jail for what he
00:21:56
did in 2018 dennis nilsson would die in
00:21:58
prison at the age of 72. so that's gonna
00:22:00
do it guys
