    and yet Omar said none of us knew him

    something very strange and he came and

    he sat down in front of the prophet

    his knees against the knees of the

    were sitting on the floor knee to knee

    and he placed his hands on his thighs

    behaving like a student of the prophet

    stranger came and he called him by his

    traveling and he says yeah Muhammad and

    he asks the prophet a question he said

    what's Islam Islam in the Arabic

    that Islam is that you testify that

    met all the messengers who came before

    including the Torah and belief in the

    and belief in the last day the day of

    before Allah to be judged and the sixth

    the sixth thing is to believe in destiny

    beginningless eternity and the pleasant

    and unpleasant it's all from Allah it's

    all from God there's no God of good and

    God of evil competing with each other

    complete and utter dependence of

    everything on one being who doesn't need

    salallahu said that it's to worship God

    as though you see him

    imagine that you are seeing God as you

    worship him what a different kind of

    worship you would have you'd be doing it

    sincerely for him you'd have no ulterior

    motives it wouldn't be to get to get

    some selfish gain to control somebody

    else to tell a lie no you you're doing

    it because you believe in God and you

    fear Him you want to worship him no

    other reason and the prophet salallahu

    said that if you can't do that then the

    next best thing is to worship him

    knowing that he sees you

    two levels of Islamic spirituality and

    then he asked another question he asked

    about the day of judgment he said when

    will the day of judgment happen and the

    prophet salallahu give a very

    interesting answer he said

    and so it continues and he asks about

    the signs of the hour and the prophet

    is behaving like a student and a teacher

    arrogance there's no boasting

    the focus is on learning

    and the focus is on teaching the
    00:08:38
    companions information but also teaching

    them how to be with other people when
    00:08:46
    you teach them what you learned from the
    00:08:49
    prophet
    00:08:51
    people are sometimes wary of this idea
    00:08:54
    of organized religion and rightly so
    00:08:58
    it's a situation where people of
    00:09:01
    religious Authority like prophets or
    00:09:04
    popes or priests they use their
    00:09:09
    religious authority to teach other
    00:09:11
    people to Revere them
    00:09:14
    and the Learning Happens through a sense
    00:09:19
    of control that is exercised by the
    00:09:22
    teacher
    00:09:23
    over the student over the person who's
    00:09:27
    following him
    00:09:29
    using this idea of religion I want you

    to look carefully at the way that this
    00:09:36
    teaching happened in both directions

    with the prophet sallallahu alaihi

    wasallam and with the angel Gabriel and

    you will see that none of that is there

    what you see instead is a genuine

    the other side that draws the student to

    love you to want to be like you to be
