00:00:01
shop. And in today's video, we're going
00:00:03
to be testing an old school mechanic
00:00:05
trick or a hack you might call it, to
00:00:08
see if it actually works. So, you might
00:00:10
have heard an old greasy mechanic that
00:00:12
usually lives in the back of the shop,
00:00:13
missing teeth, addicted to cigarettes
00:00:15
and alcohol, say that transmission fluid
00:00:18
can actually clean intake valves, the
00:00:20
top of the piston, clean out the whole
00:00:22
entire engine, and even clean up fuel
00:00:24
injectors just by pouring this directly
00:00:26
into the engine and letting it kind of
00:00:28
hot soak, and it will clear everything
00:00:30
out. Now, I want to put that to the test
00:00:32
today. This is the transmission fluid
00:00:34
I'm going to be using today. It's Dexron
00:00:36
and Mirkon. Uh it's ATF mix and we're
00:00:39
gonna be running three different
00:00:40
experiments today. One of which is going
00:00:42
to be through the intake. Then we're
00:00:44
going to put some into the fuel system
00:00:46
and then finally into the engine oil.
00:00:49
We'll see what happens in each test. And
00:00:51
by the end of the video, we can compare
00:00:52
our before and after for each single
00:00:54
test that we run. So, it's going to get
00:00:56
smoky
00:00:59
and it's going to get messy. But let's
00:01:01
see what's real and what's just plain
00:01:03
shop BS. So, this 1999 Toyota Camry is
00:01:06
going to be the test subject today. I'm
00:01:08
going to get the hood off and I'm going
00:01:09
to get a few parts off so we can
00:01:11
actually get a camera in there and see
00:01:13
the before condition before we do all
00:01:15
these tests so we kind of have a good
00:01:17
base to go off of and then we will
00:01:18
recheck afterwards. So, I'm going to
00:01:20
pull the valve cover so we can kind of
00:01:21
see what the top engine looks like
00:01:22
before we put the stuff in the engine
00:01:24
oil to see if it actually cleans it. And
00:01:26
I'm also going to stick a camera in each
00:01:27
spark plug tube to see the carbon
00:01:29
buildup on the piston and the valves.
00:01:31
And that'll kind of give us a good base
00:01:33
starting point of what this engine looks
00:01:36
like now versus all the tests we're
00:01:38
about to run. So, let me get this hood
00:01:39
off there. Now, we got the hood off. So,
00:01:40
now we can actually see what we're about
00:01:42
to do right now. We got some good
00:01:44
lighting. And this engine has 285,000
00:01:47
mi on it. So, it better have some carbon
00:01:49
in it because it actually looks like a
00:01:51
pretty decent engine so far. Uh,
00:01:53
testament to Toyota Camry's pretty dang
00:01:56
good vehicle. So, let's pull this valve
00:01:57
cover off, get the spark plugs out.
00:01:59
We'll get the camera in there and we
00:02:00
will see what our starting point looks
00:02:02
like. And then we will start with our
00:02:04
experiment number one,
00:02:08
[music]
00:02:09
not for impact use.
00:02:14
[music]
00:02:15
Now, with the valve cover off, we can
00:02:16
see that this thing does have carbon
00:02:18
buildup on it, which is a good thing
00:02:20
because 285,000 mi, but it's not as
00:02:23
terrible as some may think with this
00:02:25
kind of mileage on it. Here's what I'm
00:02:27
looking for. Will the transmission fluid
00:02:29
clean up some of these deposits all on
00:02:31
the cams here on the back of it by the
00:02:34
by the lifters back there? If I scrape
00:02:36
away at the top of the cylinder head
00:02:38
here, you know, I can get some carbon
00:02:41
buildup that's on the back of my
00:02:43
screwdriver there. So, will it clean
00:02:45
some of this stuff off of the top here
00:02:47
and off of the cams by cycling it
00:02:50
through? I don't know, maybe we do half
00:02:51
hour, hour, give or take, and then we'll
00:02:53
pull the valve cover off for that test.
00:02:55
Now, I also want to get a good visual of
00:02:57
each and every spark plug hole so we can
00:02:59
get a good picture of the intake valves
00:03:01
and see what they look like. Hopefully,
00:03:02
they got some carbon buildup on them.
00:03:03
You can see that the top of the piston
00:03:05
definitely has some carbon buildup on
00:03:06
it. Let's see if we can get a good angle
00:03:08
at the valve here. Oh, there you go.
00:03:10
That's a perfect picture.
00:03:12
Look at those intake valves. So, that
00:03:14
definitely has carbon built up on it.
00:03:17
So, if we run this through the intake,
00:03:19
will that clear the carbon off these
00:03:20
valves and clean up the top of this
00:03:22
ridge right here? You can see where the
00:03:24
top of the piston doesn't meet uh on
00:03:26
this edge here. So, real close. All that
00:03:29
is carbon buildup as well. So, if we run
00:03:31
it through the intake, will it clean
00:03:32
that as well? And I'm also going to run
00:03:34
some through the fuel. So, hopefully
00:03:36
that cleans the injector. And this might
00:03:39
actually clean some of that up, too, as
00:03:41
well. So, those are two tests that we're
00:03:43
going to try that should remedy some of
00:03:45
this. Let me just get a picture of each
00:03:47
thing. And I'm going to get a picture on
00:03:48
every single cylinder so we can do a
00:03:50
before and after. All right. And then
00:03:52
one other visual I want to get is the
00:03:54
intake because we're going to be running
00:03:55
a lot of this transmission fluid through
00:03:56
the actual intake manifold. I want to
00:03:58
see if it'll clean that as well. And you
00:04:00
can see by the throttle plate that ain't
00:04:02
looking very good. So, let's just open
00:04:04
up that throttle plate and get a couple
00:04:06
of visuals on the inside. And that's uh
00:04:08
the inside of the intake. Look at all
00:04:10
the carbon buildup in there. That is
00:04:12
horrendous. So, we're going to take a
00:04:14
few uh So, we're going to take a few
00:04:16
photos of that as well. That looks like
00:04:18
volcanic ash. That is awful. couple of
00:04:21
photos of that as well. So, now let's
00:04:22
wrap this thing back up, get everything
00:04:24
reassembled, and then we'll start on
00:04:26
test one, which is going to be running
00:04:27
the ATF through the intake manifold to
00:04:30
see if it clears out any of the carbon
00:04:32
deposit, and then we'll try the fuel,
00:04:34
and then we will put it in the engine
00:04:36
oil. And before I put these spark plugs
00:04:37
back in, might as well just get a good
00:04:38
visual of what these look like before,
00:04:40
cuz we might follow one of these out.
00:04:42
Little bit of carbon buildup. This one's
00:04:43
got some deposits on it. You can see
00:04:45
right here.
00:04:47
Probably tough to see with the camera,
00:04:48
but regardless, let's get back to
00:04:50
reassembling this thing. Okay, now
00:04:51
everything is back buttoned up. We're
00:04:53
going to do the very first experiment,
00:04:55
test number one, and we're going to run
00:04:57
ATF through the intake manifold. We're
00:05:00
just going to find a vacuum line,
00:05:02
probably just right here on top of the
00:05:03
EGR, and we will suck this into the
00:05:06
intake. I'm going to let the engine get
00:05:08
nice and hot first. So, hopefully this
00:05:11
is a true and tried fix, but we will see
00:05:14
with test number one. And this is the
00:05:17
vacuum hose I'm going to use, which I
00:05:18
just broke, which is kind of a bummer.
00:05:20
And I'm actually going to back this
00:05:21
thing out because I know it's going to
00:05:23
smoke. So, first up, I wanted to make
00:05:25
sure that the engine was nice and warm
00:05:27
and at operating temperature. So, I gave
00:05:29
it a few revs here until it was nice and
00:05:32
warm before I put any of that ATF into
00:05:35
the intake manifold. You can see it's
00:05:36
nice and warm. Now, the EGR valve line
00:05:39
didn't give me enough vacuum, but this
00:05:40
brake booster line did. And this is the
00:05:43
fluid that I'm going to be dumping right
00:05:44
into this line. Now, you have to do this
00:05:46
super slowly because if you dump it in,
00:05:47
you could hydrolock the engine, and that
00:05:49
would be really bad. Now, I'm just going
00:05:51
to repeat the cycle a few more times to
00:05:53
get it nice and coated in that intake
00:05:55
manifold with some ATF. Then, she should
00:05:58
begin to start a little bit of a smoke
00:06:00
show. And as you can see out the
00:06:02
tailpipe, now we're starting to smoke
00:06:03
pretty dang good here. So, we're getting
00:06:06
nice and coated in that intake man. And
00:06:08
I wanted to make sure I had the intake
00:06:10
nice and coated, so I found a front
00:06:11
vacuum line, too, to use as well. And
00:06:14
now I'm going to let it sit for a little
00:06:15
bit. I'll run it one more time after it
00:06:17
hot soaks and then we [music] will put
00:06:19
it back in the shop and we will see if
00:06:20
it cleaned any carbon out of the intake.
00:06:22
All right, so we're back in the shop
00:06:23
now. The car is in the shop. And that
00:06:25
was like 45 minutesish run time, about a
00:06:28
quart of ATF. And I did it through both
00:06:31
little hoses of the intake here. Uh
00:06:33
through this hose here and this one back
00:06:35
here. I wasn't getting much vacuum out
00:06:36
of this, so I don't know if it's just
00:06:37
plugged up or what. So now let's take
00:06:39
the snorkel off. We'll stick the camera
00:06:41
back in it and we will see. Did it clean
00:06:43
up anything? And I will compare the
00:06:45
before and after. All right, so first
00:06:46
things first. This thing was pretty
00:06:47
gummed up, so I'm not sure we're going
00:06:50
to see much from the inside here.
00:06:54
It's kind of hard to tell. Let me stick
00:06:56
the camera in it once. All right, so
00:06:58
first things first, there is some
00:07:00
cleaning on the deposits here. So, this
00:07:02
might actually
00:07:04
uh be working. It might actually be
00:07:06
looking pretty dang good in here.
00:07:08
Hopefully the camera's picking that up.
00:07:10
So, let's take a picture here.
00:07:13
Get a shot there. Stick this camera back
00:07:15
in a little further. Yeah, look at this.
00:07:17
The actual big deposits of carbon uh
00:07:21
actually came right off the side of this
00:07:22
intake. So, the uh ATF, I'm going to say
00:07:26
this is actually working. You can see
00:07:27
there's a ton of it in there. Uh I bet
00:07:29
you if we continue to get this thing hot
00:07:32
and did it a few times, we could get
00:07:34
some of this carbon to break free from
00:07:36
this. So, test number one, I'm going to
00:07:40
say, yeah, ATF in the intake will clean
00:07:43
the intake. Um, it's probably even clean
00:07:47
the valves, too, if I got the camera
00:07:48
down on the spark plugs. Why don't I do
00:07:49
that quick? I'll just get a part a plug
00:07:50
out and just look. I got one and two
00:07:52
spark plugs out of the hole now. Uh,
00:07:54
number one's pretty close to top dead
00:07:56
center, so it's kind of hard to get the
00:07:57
camera in there, but you can see the top
00:07:58
of the piston. You can see it's uh it
00:08:00
started to clean it just out of the out
00:08:03
of the intake valve. You can see the the
00:08:04
edge right there. All the little specks,
00:08:06
those are pieces of carbon that came off
00:08:08
the piston. And yeah, you can't really
00:08:09
turn it around in there, but let's put
00:08:10
it in cylinder number two. You can see
00:08:12
right here, it started to clean up on
00:08:13
this edge of the piston. And then right
00:08:15
here, it actually started to get pretty
00:08:16
shiny, too. But let's look at the
00:08:18
valves. You can see the cylinder head
00:08:21
right here. It actually started to clean
00:08:23
it up a little bit.
00:08:25
And uh yeah, the valves the valves are
00:08:28
still pretty
00:08:30
carboned up looking, but it looks like
00:08:32
some chunks maybe have come off of it.
00:08:34
All right. And now all this is a clear
00:08:36
indicator that this will actually remove
00:08:38
carbon from your intake manifold, the
00:08:40
tops of the piston, and the valves. I am
00:08:42
going to put it in the fuel system, too.
00:08:44
I'm going to put a little bit in the
00:08:45
fuel. Uh that's probably going to take a
00:08:48
little longer. I don't know if we're
00:08:49
going to notice anything different on
00:08:50
that, but if you do run it through the
00:08:51
intake, uh this is a clear indication
00:08:54
that it is working. And I do want to run
00:08:56
it in the engine oil. So, maybe in
00:08:57
conjunction, we'll uh we'll put it in
00:08:59
the engine oil. I'll put it in the fuel
00:09:01
system as well. We're going to kind of
00:09:03
conjoin those two uh tests and we will
00:09:06
see what actually happens because I'm
00:09:07
going to run it to you for I don't know
00:09:09
maybe 35 minutes, 40 minutes. There's
00:09:11
not really a telltale sign on this, but
00:09:13
let's do that. We'll change the oil
00:09:15
quick. We'll put ATF in the oil. I think
00:09:17
some people said just adding a quart can
00:09:19
help. Uh I might uh try a little
00:09:22
different thing and do the whole engine.
00:09:24
Uh so hopefully we don't wreck anything
00:09:26
before we can see anything. So let me
00:09:29
get to it. I'm going to drain the oil
00:09:30
quick and then we will put ATF in it and
00:09:33
then uh in the fuel system as well.
00:09:35
We'll run it for I don't know give or
00:09:36
take 35 minutes and we'll tear
00:09:38
everything back apart. Pull pull that
00:09:39
valve cover off and see what we can see.
00:09:42
Get this oil drained quick and we will
00:09:46
top it up and we will see what the
00:09:48
result will be.
00:09:52
Nasty. All right. So test number two is
00:09:55
going to be transmission fluid in the
00:09:57
fuel. And we're just going to do the oil
00:10:01
and the fuel together. We're going to do
00:10:03
one quart in the fuel tank.
00:10:07
And then next up, test number three.
00:10:09
Fill the engine up. I'm just going to do
00:10:11
the whole engine with ATF. And I don't
00:10:14
know if this is going to be a really bad
00:10:15
idea, a really good idea, or what. Uh,
00:10:18
like I said, I think I've heard in the
00:10:20
past, one quart uh, replacement and then
00:10:23
you change it. I think this holds four.
00:10:25
So, let's get this filled up with
00:10:26
transmission fluid. We'll back it out
00:10:28
and I think I'm going to run it for,
00:10:30
like I said, probably 45ish minutes. And
00:10:33
then we'll come back in. We'll drain the
00:10:35
fluid and we will pull the valve cover.
00:10:36
And let's see if the magic happens.
00:10:41
And you can see there's transmission
00:10:43
fluid. Uh, I'm going to stop there. It's
00:10:45
basically full. The only thing I didn't
00:10:47
change is the oil filter. Uh, I don't
00:10:51
think I really need to, to be honest.
00:10:52
This thing doesn't really hold that much
00:10:53
oil. All right, let's get this thing
00:10:56
fired up, back it out, and let it run. I
00:10:58
got the timer here set to 45 minutes.
00:11:01
We're starting now. Let's fire this
00:11:04
thing up.
00:11:09
Still starts. That's a good sign. back
00:11:11
it out cuz it's probably going to smoke
00:11:13
again with the uh fuel and the uh yada
00:11:15
yada. And then in 45 minutes, we'll come
00:11:18
back and we'll pull it in. We'll drain
00:11:20
the oil. It's only been like 10 minutes,
00:11:22
but look at this top of the dipstick.
00:11:24
Hopefully I can see that. Let me zoom
00:11:26
in.
00:11:27
There's carbon actually on the tip of
00:11:29
the dipstick right now. So, uh clearly
00:11:33
it's falling apart in there, which
00:11:35
hopefully we don't plug up any oil
00:11:36
galleries or anything. And uh I just
00:11:38
figured I'd show this. This is the
00:11:39
engine oil I took out. I'm going to get
00:11:41
this drained and cleaned up so we can
00:11:44
catch that other oil. But this is pretty
00:11:45
murky looking oil, too. Hasn't been
00:11:48
changed in quite a while, obviously. But
00:11:50
I figured I'd show that so we kind of
00:11:52
knows what the old oil looks like uh
00:11:54
before we drain this transmission fluid
00:11:56
back in here. All right. And our timer
00:11:57
is just about up here.
00:12:00
And
00:12:02
she is done. So, let's pull it back in
00:12:06
and see what the results will be.
00:12:11
All right. So, first things first,
00:12:14
take a look at that oil.
00:12:17
Smells pretty dang bad.
00:12:20
You can see it turned from red to brown,
00:12:23
which obviously it's mixing with the
00:12:24
engine oil. Let's pull the plugs out now
00:12:27
and we'll take the valve cover back off
00:12:30
and let's just see if it kind of cleaned
00:12:31
up the top end of the engine. and then
00:12:33
we'll stick the camera down in and see
00:12:34
if we notice anything difference with,
00:12:36
you know, a good 45 minutes of run time
00:12:38
on this. All right, now I have the valve
00:12:40
cover removed.
00:12:42
And, you know, it doesn't look that much
00:12:44
cleaner. You know, where I scraped right
00:12:46
there, you can kind of see maybe maybe
00:12:48
it started to dig in because it had a
00:12:50
way to get into the the crevice. It
00:12:53
looks like some of it back here maybe.
00:12:54
Uh, let me grab a light. Looks like some
00:12:56
of the carbon back there maybe have come
00:12:58
off. We'll have to do a before and after
00:13:00
comparison. uh put some of the beginning
00:13:02
video on compared to it, but uh you
00:13:06
know, clearly it is cleaning it. I can
00:13:08
see that it is cleaning it. Um and this
00:13:12
might be not the smartest decision on
00:13:14
especially newer engines. Just in the
00:13:16
event that carbon breaks apart and gets
00:13:19
stuck in oil galleries and stuff like
00:13:20
that, uh you might do some oil
00:13:22
starvation, which won't be the greatest
00:13:24
thing. I think the biggest thing I
00:13:26
noticed so far was with the intake, you
00:13:28
know, running it through the the intake,
00:13:30
cleaning the carbon off the valves and
00:13:31
stuff. Let's pull the spark plugs out
00:13:33
and get the camera back in there and see
00:13:36
if we see anything notable now that we
00:13:37
had the fuel injectors running the, you
00:13:39
know, transmission fluid and burning it
00:13:41
as well. First off, let's get a look at
00:13:43
the valves
00:13:45
and the pistons.
00:13:48
Um,
00:13:50
if you could just find a hole there,
00:13:52
bud. That piston is actually getting
00:13:54
pretty dang clean. You can see the the
00:13:57
chunk right there of carbon that's
00:13:58
coming off this thing. Uh see if I get a
00:14:00
look at the valve. You can see the
00:14:02
little uh ring ridge right here. That
00:14:03
carbon that builds up on that thing. Uh
00:14:06
that's um that's actually getting clean.
00:14:09
So that's working. Um let's see if I can
00:14:11
get this down in there and see those
00:14:12
valves. Yeah, look at that. You can
00:14:14
actually start to see some shininess on
00:14:16
the valves here. This would be the
00:14:18
intake valve right here. And then the
00:14:20
chunks right there. But even the top of
00:14:22
the cylinder head. Look at that. It's
00:14:23
starting to clean it up pretty dang
00:14:24
good. This is actually a confirmed uh
00:14:27
way to clean carbon. This would actually
00:14:29
work. So, if you hear the old fogies out
00:14:31
there saying this, uh, this trick works.
00:14:34
They're definitely right. This trick
00:14:36
definitely works. Uh, there's a lot of
00:14:38
good properties in ATF that does a great
00:14:42
job cleaning. I mean, open up a
00:14:43
transmission once and you'll see for
00:14:45
yourself how clean they can be if it
00:14:47
hasn't been beat to the the gardens.
00:14:49
Now, at the end of the video, I'll just
00:14:50
uh link all the pictures that I took,
00:14:52
the before and afters of each cylinder,
00:14:53
because I did just get another photo.
00:14:54
But let's just take a peek one more time
00:14:57
in the intake manifold. See if
00:14:58
anything's kind of cleaned up since uh
00:15:00
the last time cuz we ran it for another
00:15:02
45 minutes. Right now, the intake, it's
00:15:04
kind of looking the same that it did.
00:15:06
There's still carbon. You can see
00:15:08
there's like, you know, the big chunks
00:15:09
of carbon and stuff that fell off, but
00:15:12
obviously we're only bringing in the
00:15:13
fluid at uh one vacuum source. So maybe
00:15:16
the fluid's coming through and like
00:15:18
hitting against the intake here and then
00:15:19
sucking into the cylinders. Kind of hard
00:15:21
to say. Let's try to get it down one of
00:15:24
the runners here. Kind of tough to see,
00:15:26
but this is down a runner. Um you can
00:15:28
see up on the top here, it's kind of
00:15:29
getting kind of getting some stuff
00:15:31
cleaning. It is it is doing somewhat of
00:15:33
a cleaning, but it's still pretty
00:15:35
carboned up. Uh this engine had a ton of
00:15:37
carbon in it and rightfully so with the
00:15:40
mileage that's on it, you know, 285,000
00:15:43
mi. Let's get this thing in the air and
00:15:45
we'll drain the oil just to see what the
00:15:48
condition of that oil looks like now
00:15:49
with transmission fluid cycle through
00:15:51
it. All right, I got this pan pretty
00:15:54
much cleaned up the best I can. This
00:15:55
will be interesting. Let's see what it
00:15:57
looks like. It's kind of tough to see,
00:15:58
but it's got a lot of particles in it. I
00:16:02
don't know if that's uh a good thing or
00:16:03
a bad thing. Like if it's, you know,
00:16:05
removing it from stuff that was stuck in
00:16:07
the engine or if I just removed a bunch
00:16:09
of bearing material using this fluid. I
00:16:12
just idled it, too. I didn't really run
00:16:14
it so it was like super high in the
00:16:15
RPMs. I didn't really want to risk
00:16:17
anything exploding on me here quite yet.
00:16:20
I just wanted to see what this would do.
00:16:22
It's kind of difficult to see from the
00:16:23
camera, but look at the cup. I mean, it
00:16:25
definitely seems like a lot of debris
00:16:26
did come out of the engine. Again,
00:16:28
long-term running this thing, I don't
00:16:30
know the implications of what the
00:16:32
bearings can handle and stuff uh by
00:16:35
having this fluid in there. Look, look
00:16:38
at the cup. It's turning [clears throat]
00:16:39
like black. Yucky. Well, there you have
00:16:42
it. I'm going to say experimenting with
00:16:44
the ATF here to clean up carbon inside
00:16:48
the engine and your valves and your
00:16:49
intake and yada yada. I'm going to say
00:16:52
it's a confirmed hack. Uh it does
00:16:55
actually work. It does actually get the
00:16:56
carbon off the intake and the valves and
00:16:59
the top of the piston, all that stuff.
00:17:01
Uh running it through the engine, I
00:17:03
don't see as much of a uh result, I'll
00:17:06
call it. Um maybe a little bit of
00:17:08
cleaning that was done. Maybe if I ran
00:17:10
it longer, too. I just really don't know
00:17:12
how long I should even be doing this
00:17:13
test, to be honest. But I did see a
00:17:16
actually a pretty dang good improvement
00:17:18
on the intake. I mean, if you did this a
00:17:19
few times for the intake, uh guaranteed
00:17:22
this thing would start to look pretty
00:17:23
dang clean on the inside. Plus, there's
00:17:26
a lot of carbon buildup. Uh and you
00:17:28
always got to be worried about those
00:17:29
deposits breaking off and going
00:17:31
somewhere that it shouldn't and plugging
00:17:32
something up cuz that would be no bueno.
00:17:35
But hopefully the rest of you gear heads
00:17:36
out there found this kind of
00:17:38
interesting. I didn't really know where
00:17:39
the experiment was going to take me, but
00:17:41
here we are. If anybody out there
00:17:43
watching this knows something that would
00:17:44
be cool to run through this engine, I'm
00:17:46
going to be junking the dang thing
00:17:48
anyways. So, if you got some ideas, I
00:17:50
don't know what hasn't been done. I want
00:17:52
to do something that's kind of unique.
00:17:53
Uh, you know, run it like on olive oil
00:17:55
or something stupid, right? Uh, if you
00:17:58
think of something, shoot me a comment
00:17:59
below and maybe I'll try to make a video
00:18:01
on it. Be kind of fun to do. Uh, until
00:18:03
then, like, subscribe, and hopefully you
00:18:05
guys are tuning into the next video.
00:18:08
Take care.

Description:

Old-school mechanics swear that transmission fluid can clean carbon, fuel injectors, and even sludge inside your engine. But does it really work — or is it just a smoky myth? Today, we test three classic ATF tricks to find out. Here is a link to the Boroscope everyone asks me about - buy it here - https://www.amazon.com/Articulating-DXZtoz-Industrial-Articulated-Inspection/dp/B0B28HRSBP?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.67iwLs10UidGkrl1H3mwnFZsCshcxoS-8ULaYQ2bzoP5PkiR_ifogHswURPgM0i-tjFbbLv4i-IergO7XiRP3Q5zewDACdoHQIvX311Rl_Yz0Xq65TXTBXp_cikZTgBVMVXf_ORZNgIJjiDBhUcWxe39DoI28I0e8m1NEGnRA4EPTFuGvjvdDj0cPg8KsN7-uX4Jwre-0BlXbQIw6qcmsF1stK3OIoxdPcUl0CBsv_U.TRHoALbgvdM-vfA8irqdmPfmEaDWaBLXHkVMgAVAi1w&dib_tag=se&language=en_US In this video, I test three old mechanic myths that all use transmission fluid (ATF) to “clean” your engine. We’ll test it through the intake, in the fuel, and in the oil to see which ones actually work and which ones are just garage legends. You’ll see how ATF burns in the intake, if it affects idle or performance when mixed with gas, and finally — whether it actually removes sludge when added to your oil before an oil change. 🧰 Tests Performed: 1️⃣ ATF through the intake (carbon clean trick) 2️⃣ ATF in the fuel (injector cleaner myth) 3️⃣ ATF in the oil (pre-oil change flush) 💬 Have you tried any of these? Comment below which old mechanic trick you want me to test next! 🔧 Subscribe for more DIY car experiments, mechanic myth-busting, and real-world tests!
