00:00:00
hello everyone hope you're doing well in
00:00:03
this video we are going to create a
00:00:06
lighting family it will be a pendant and
00:00:10
it will be adjustable so we can change
00:00:13
its dimensions and
00:00:16
materials so to create and this kind of
00:00:20
lighting we need to go to family's part
00:00:24
and
00:00:26
here then we are going to select this
00:00:30
lighting fixture sailing based we can
00:00:32
use these as well but for now we are
00:00:37
going to work on this
00:00:41
one we will set our uni to
00:00:46
[Music]
00:00:49
metric and then we're going to left view
00:00:54
here we have view references Line This
00:00:59
Is Our
00:01:01
floor and this is our
00:01:03
sailing so this will be our lighting and
00:01:09
in this space here in this Gap we going
00:01:12
to model our
00:01:16
[Music]
00:01:18
lighting to change our lighting's
00:01:22
Dimension we need this
00:01:25
line to be moved okay we can't um
00:01:30
[Music]
00:01:33
move our floor or our sailing so we need
00:01:37
this line to move so we need
00:01:42
to set Dimensions set parameters that
00:01:48
helps this lines to this line to move so
00:01:52
we lock this our sailing and we need to
00:01:58
make sure it's reference
00:02:00
line not sailing
00:02:03
line I select
00:02:06
a align uh from annotation aligned and
00:02:12
00:02:15
here okay and here
00:02:19
out so we don't need to change this but
00:02:23
we need to make it a parameter so
00:02:29
[Music]
00:02:33
okay and we need to do this again
00:02:37
for here first line is our sailing line
00:02:41
and second line is
00:02:44
our this one light
00:02:47
source and we need to again click on
00:02:51
reference
00:02:53
line and turn it into a parameter as
00:02:56
well
00:03:02
[Music]
00:03:05
okay and instance cck
00:03:08
instance we can make it as a timee but
00:03:11
this might be easier sometimes okay so
00:03:16
this way if we change this
00:03:20
size this is our second
00:03:23
parameter it should move so
00:03:27
that's totally
00:03:31
right
00:03:33
okay we can change our lighting lights
00:03:38
light store symbol size from here I want
00:03:42
to make it real small okay
00:03:46
now our
00:03:49
lighting has uh different parts and if
00:03:52
you want to create this we need to know
00:03:56
this Parts first of all we need to
00:03:59
create this one this is called canopy
00:04:03
or uh light holder and after that we
00:04:07
have this road we have this wire or
00:04:12
chain or whatever it is we will create
00:04:15
this uh with
00:04:18
Extrusion uh and after that we have this
00:04:22
part it's a bulb
00:04:25
holder and after that we have the bulb
00:04:30
light bulb
00:04:31
itself and then we are going to add some
00:04:35
frames and details to
00:04:38
it so basically that's all and there are
00:04:41
a few
00:04:44
uh commands that we can use them to
00:04:48
start modeling we need a few reference
00:04:54
lines so we from create we click here in
00:04:59
reference line and from
00:05:04
offset we
00:05:06
can create one
00:05:11
here 2
00:05:13
cm this is for our
00:05:16
canopy after that we can use
00:05:21
[Music]
00:05:24
revolve to create it I'm going to create
00:05:27
it here
00:05:34
and like
00:05:36
this it needs to be closed after that
00:05:41
I'm going to align these line these
00:05:45
lines this line and this line with our
00:05:48
reference lines because when you use
00:05:51
this way you can lock them so first
00:05:55
click on your reference line and after
00:05:58
that on your line then then lock it and
00:06:02
you need to do this in with this line as
00:06:05
well you need to make sure you're not
00:06:08
selecting sailing you need to select
00:06:11
reference line after that click here and
00:06:16
lock so that's it then you're going
00:06:24
to create our access line so it can
00:06:28
revolve around it
00:06:31
and okay so this is our
00:06:36
canopy second
00:06:38
part we need to create our road or our
00:06:42
chain we are going to use
00:06:47
Extrusion and we can create it from this
00:06:53
view need
00:06:54
to go here and come here first and then
00:07:00
click create mid Circle
00:07:06
lines and like this
00:07:10
okay we will leave this here it's
00:07:16
actually thicker than I thought
00:07:19
[Music]
00:07:24
so we're going to leave it here because
00:07:28
we need to create create cap holder and
00:07:31
after that we need to um lock this
00:07:35
between this line
00:07:36
[Music]
00:07:38
and this
00:07:40
line okay two other reference
00:07:44
line for
00:07:47
[Music]
00:07:49
our cap
00:07:52
holder so
00:07:56
here we need to use revolve again again
00:08:00
and it's just the same if you have any
00:08:08
specific model you can do it but I'm
00:08:11
going
00:08:12
to work on a very simple one so we
00:08:20
can do something like
00:08:24
this and again we need to lock this
00:08:28
lines a with this okay and
00:08:38
[Music]
00:08:39
this okay so that's our
00:08:49
[Music]
00:08:54
shap you can use fillet for these parts
00:09:00
[Music]
00:09:08
and don't forget
00:09:11
[Music]
00:09:12
access
00:09:15
okay so yes that's
00:09:17
[Music]
00:09:21
it here this is our canopy this is our R
00:09:26
and this is our
00:09:30
light bulb
00:09:33
holder
00:09:35
so here now we can fix this
00:09:41
road to these reference
00:09:45
lines and
00:09:48
lock and
00:09:50
lo I'm going
00:09:53
to this one
00:09:58
[Music]
00:10:00
[Applause]
00:10:02
this and
00:10:04
okay now if we
00:10:08
move and change
00:10:11
this
00:10:14
size they should work all
00:10:19
[Music]
00:10:22
together that's
00:10:25
it yes that's right it's working
00:10:30
okay now we just need to create our
00:10:34
light
00:10:39
bul to create light light bulbs and we
00:10:43
need two other reference lines one
00:10:48
[Music]
00:10:50
here below this line and
00:10:55
one here
00:10:59
[Music]
00:11:00
again we are going to create revolve and
00:11:04
it's just the
00:11:06
same your design it depends on your
00:11:12
design and the type of light VA that you
00:11:16
want but you need to make sure that you
00:11:20
are locking all of the lines between two
00:11:24
reference
00:11:26
lines so
00:11:30
and after I create this one I
00:11:34
use start and radius art to just make
00:11:38
sure
00:11:40
I'm locking this line this line between
00:11:45
two references so I clicked here first
00:11:48
click here and second one here exactly
00:11:52
on our reference line and AIS line
00:11:59
and you can create something like
00:12:05
this you can fill
00:12:08
[Music]
00:12:09
it
00:12:11
here
00:12:12
and
00:12:15
here and you need to lock
00:12:20
[Music]
00:12:21
this like this and to lock this one you
00:12:26
need to just do it back back and you can
00:12:30
see that it wasn't locked now if you
00:12:33
bring it again
00:12:35
to
00:12:37
this this point it can like this
00:12:41
now so now our line is locked but we
00:12:48
can't just close it like
00:12:55
this because this way you might face
00:12:58
this
00:12:59
[Music]
00:13:04
warning like this it says light source
00:13:07
is inside solid geometry no light will
00:13:11
be emitted during rending
00:13:15
so we can change
00:13:17
this so we
00:13:24
can see our
00:13:27
light we need to up offset these lines
00:13:31
and our light bul is actually glass so
00:13:34
we can offset
00:13:37
these a
00:13:41
bit all of
00:13:44
them and
00:13:47
[Music]
00:13:48
then we need to close it like this
00:14:00
[Music]
00:14:01
this way we
00:14:04
can have a normal light
00:14:08
B so yes that's it without any
00:14:15
warning and check let's check if it's
00:14:19
working
00:14:20
correctly yes it
00:14:24
is that's it for this part hope you use
00:14:29
this and I hope you could create this
00:14:32
model as well if it was useful for you
00:14:36
please give me a like And subscribe
00:14:40
me so yes thanks for watching and bye

Description:

In this video, I explained how to make #lighting family in Revit 2024. This is a ceiling based family and it is adjustable. There are few steps in this process which consists of creating canopy, rod and light bulb. We mainly used #Extrusion and #Revolve and few other techniques to model this object. If it was useful, and you liked it, please let me know So I can create more videos in this field. I will post Part 02 soon. ✌😊
