um supported Wyoming's voter ID law,00:04:34
which then the the court agreed was00:04:36
legal. So, states are being able to do00:04:38
this on their own. But [snorts] I have00:04:40
testified in Congress and spoken00:04:42
privately to many members of Congress00:04:44
about these issues. And I think that00:04:47
Congress could pass a law that tied the00:04:49
federal funding support for federal00:04:51
elections to certain minimum standards00:04:54
of election integrity including but not00:04:56
limited to clean voter roles, voter ID,00:05:00
uh, and some other measures that I00:05:01
won't, you know, the technical measures.00:05:03
Now, you know, like we've had in the00:05:05
past, um, sort of speed laws and seat00:05:10
belt laws where the federal government00:05:12
didn't mandate it, but they said, "We're00:05:14
not going to give you federal funding to00:05:16
maintain your your highways if you don't00:05:18
do this." And then every state kind of00:05:20
whipped into line and did it. And so, I00:05:22
think that is something that could be00:05:24

Republicans who told me, "Oh, Harie, you00:05:30

right to demand this data. She doesn't00:06:26
have to give a reason. And these states00:06:28
are all making hand ringing excuses. Oh,00:06:30
you know, the federal government can't00:06:33
keep data secure and uh there's a00:06:35
privacy issue. How can the social00:06:38
security numbers last for the social be00:06:40
private from the federal government that00:06:42
issues them? Um I I think everyone is a00:06:45
full-blown panic over here about what00:06:47

eventually we're going to win these00:06:51
cases, all of them. And people are going00:06:54
to be scandalized that for years and00:06:57

then it's happening in Missouri just one00:08:05
uh a judge just rejected an attempt to00:08:08
invalidate their new maps. And so this00:08:11
is unusual in the United States because00:08:12
normally the redistricting occurs just00:08:14
by custom after the census. But first of00:08:16
all, the census doesn't have to be only00:08:18
every 10 years. It has to be a minimum00:08:20
of every 10 years. And redistricting can00:08:22

do it. And so uh I think you're going to00:08:26
see this happening on both both sides.00:08:28
