Auf Landkarten Papuas, Mikronesiens oder der Salomonen stößt man bis heute auf „Bismarck“, „Neu Hannover“ oder „Kaiserin-Augusta-Fluss“. Sie sind stille Zeugen einer kurzen, aber ambitionierten Episode deutscher Weltgeschichte – eines exotischen Kapitels, das im gegenwärtigen Verständnis aber komischerweise fast vergessen ist.
