This sweater is going to be your new
00:00:01
go-to. Comfy fit, bold texture, zipper
00:00:04
finish.
00:00:10
Hey guys, I'm T, maker of 600 plus
00:00:12
crochet patterns and tutorials. Welcome
00:00:14
to the channel. Today we're making a
00:00:16
textured quarterzip pullover that's
00:00:18
cropped for layering, but you can make
00:00:19
it full length. The SG stitch creates
00:00:21
the bold texture and the zipper gives it
00:00:23
a polished finished look. If you're new
00:00:25
here, welcome. I share crochet fashion
00:00:27
and tutorials every Sunday and
00:00:28
Wednesday. So tell a friend, tap the
00:00:30
bell and subscribe so you never miss an
00:00:32
upload. And if you enjoy the video, give
00:00:34
it a big thumbs up or two thumbs down if
00:00:36
you don't. Either way, it helps keep
00:00:37
these tutorials free. Any category 4
00:00:40
will work. I used a total of 410 g,
00:00:43
that's 925 yards if you're state side,
00:00:45
along with a 6mm hook, stitch markers,
00:00:48
and a close end zipper. Pattern link
00:00:50
below. Use offer code TCDDIY for a
00:00:52
discount on orders over $9.99. and stay
00:00:54
to the end for this week's pattern
00:00:55
giveaway. We're using five stitches for
00:00:58
this project. Half double crochets in
00:01:00
the back loops for the ribbing and sedge
00:01:02
stitch for all that texture. They're all
00:01:04
on screen now. Pause. Check it out. And
00:01:06
if you're new, don't worry. These are
00:01:07
all basic stitches dressed up for a
00:01:08
modern look. Now, this tutorial is made
00:01:10
for a size small. You can adjust it for
00:01:12
your size and explain how to in the
00:01:14
video. So, without further ado, here's
00:01:15
how to crochet your own simple yet cozy
00:01:17
quarter zip pullover sweater. This is
00:01:20
where the sweater starts to take shape.
00:01:21
We're starting with the shoulder and
00:01:23
working towards the center so the two
00:01:24
front panels can kiss at the center.
00:01:30
We're all going to grab our category 4
00:01:31
yarn and make a slip knot. Then we're
00:01:34
all going to grab our 6 mm hook. We're
00:01:38
going to chain in multiples of three
00:01:40
measuring from the top of our shoulder
00:01:41
down to our waist or your hips if you
00:01:43
want full length. The instructions are
00:01:44
going to be the same no matter the
00:01:45
length. I'm making a chain 51. That's
00:01:48
cropped. That's just about 13 in or 33
00:01:50
cm for me. Measure this chain against
00:01:52
your body as you're making it so that
00:01:53
the length feels right for layering. And
00:01:55
make sure you jot down this number for
00:01:56
the second panel and the back panel as
00:01:58
well. When we have our chain, we're
00:02:00
going to place the tail end at our
00:02:01
shoulder. Now, place your stitch marker
00:02:03
into the chain in multiples of three at
00:02:05
the tail end that's nearest to the
00:02:07
corner of our underarm. Now, from the
00:02:09
marker to the tail is going to be our
00:02:11
set stitch section. Mine is in my 18th
00:02:13
stitch, and that's just about 4 and 1/2
00:02:15
in or 11 cm. Now, a half double crochet
00:02:19
row. That's going to start with a chain
00:02:21
two. That's just our turning chain.
00:02:23
Then, working into the back bumps of our
00:02:25
chain, we're going to half double
00:02:26
crochet until we reach our stitch
00:02:28
marker. So, instead of working into the
00:02:30
tops of the chain, we're going to flip
00:02:31
it over and look at these singular bumps
00:02:34
that we have along the back or the
00:02:35
spine, whatever you call them, we're
00:02:37
going to work into that bump with a half
00:02:38
double and continue working into that
00:02:40
bump with our half double until we reach
00:02:42
our stitch marker.
00:02:44
Now, working into the back bumps of your
00:02:46
chains actually have a lot of benefits.
00:02:48
It does help keep your chain the length
00:02:49
that you planned originally, so it
00:02:51
doesn't stretch over time, and it keeps
00:02:53
your edges really nice and neat. It
00:02:54
actually makes it look like you have
00:02:56
full stitches on the edge of your work
00:02:57
as well.
00:02:59
And when we've reached our stitch
00:03:00
marker, we're going to start with our
00:03:01
sedge stitch. So, the first set stitch
00:03:03
is always going to start with just one
00:03:05
half double and one double crochet. So,
00:03:07
I took my stitch marker out, but don't
00:03:08
put it too far. We're going to need to
00:03:10
put it back in. into that following
00:03:11
chain. Insert with one half double.
00:03:14
Same chain with a double crochet and
00:03:18
place your stitch marker into that first
00:03:20
half double that we made for this set
00:03:22
stitch.
00:03:24
Then right after that first one, we're
00:03:26
going to skip two stitches and into the
00:03:28
next insert with one single.
00:03:31
Same chain with a half double. Same
00:03:33
chain with a double.
00:03:37
And it's going to be this set stitch
00:03:38
repeat until we have two chains left. So
00:03:41
skip two into the next with a single
00:03:44
half double and double. Now we're still
00:03:46
working our SG stitch into the back
00:03:48
bumps. Now normally our sedge stitch
00:03:50
skips two chains which leaves a big hole
00:03:52
you can basically stick your whole
00:03:53
finger through. So instead of just
00:03:55
working into the tops of the chains,
00:03:56
continue working into the back bumps.
00:03:59
That's going to pull our yarn even less,
00:04:00
giving us an even cleaner finish and
00:04:02
those gaps way smaller. And when we all
00:04:05
have two chains left, what we're going
00:04:07
to do is single crochet into that last.
00:04:09
We want to keep the top of the shoulder
00:04:10
nice and blunt. So just place a single
00:04:12
crochet into that last stitch. And our
00:04:14
row one is complete. We should have the
00:04:16
same number of stitches as chains that
00:04:18
we made. We're not doing any increases
00:04:19
or decreases. Now we're going to start
00:04:22
our row two with the same set stitch. So
00:04:25
the first set stitch, unless stated
00:04:26
otherwise, is always going to be just
00:04:28
one half double and one double crochet
00:04:31
into that first stitch. Then always skip
00:04:34
the next two into the next with a single
00:04:37
half double double
00:04:41
and repeat that set stitch until we have
00:04:43
one stitch left right before our stitch
00:04:45
marker. Now a really quick fun fact. We
00:04:48
always skip two stitches right after
00:04:50
stitch because that half double and
00:04:52
double actually count as those two
00:04:54
stitches. If we work into there, we will
00:04:55
accidentally be increasing. And also
00:04:57
every set stitch is worked into the
00:04:59
previous rows single crochet to get the
00:05:01
texture that we want. And when we have
00:05:04
just one stitch left right before our
00:05:06
stitch marker, we're going to skip that
00:05:08
stitch and into that stitch marker
00:05:10
stitch. It should be the same for
00:05:11
everyone, no matter what size you're
00:05:13
making, we're going to complete the
00:05:14
sedge stitch with just one single
00:05:16
crochet. Since this is the edge of the
00:05:18
sedge stitch, make sure you're placing
00:05:19
your stitch marker into the top of that
00:05:21
single crochet. Then we're going to work
00:05:22
one back loop half double into the rest
00:05:24
of our stitches. So just through the
00:05:26
next one, yarn over into the top of the
00:05:28
stitch. There's going to be two loops
00:05:30
into that back loop. We're going to
00:05:32
insert with one half double crochet.
00:05:35
That is what makes the ribbing detail.
00:05:37
And at the end of the row, we're just
00:05:38
going to chain two, flip our work, and
00:05:41
work one back loop half double crochet
00:05:42
into every stitch until we reach our
00:05:44
stitch marker. Then just do the same
00:05:46
stitch detail that we just did for our
00:05:48
previous two rows. Now for this shoulder
00:05:51
portion, that's pretty much it. We're
00:05:52
going to continue the ribbing and set
00:05:54
stitch rows until our work reaches about
00:05:56
2 in past the tip of our shoulder inward
00:05:58
into the side of the base of our neck.
00:06:00
And we're all going to make sure that we
00:06:01
meet back right after an even number row
00:06:03
so that we can shape the neckline
00:06:05
together.
00:06:06
Now, this sweater features a drop
00:06:08
shoulder detail. Now, that construction
00:06:10
is what gives it sweater its relaxed
00:06:12
fit. So, for now, we're not doing any
00:06:14
increases or decreases. So, basically,
00:06:16
right now, we're just building a
00:06:18
rectangle.
00:06:19
My rectangle just so happens to be a
00:06:21
total of 22 and the width is about 8 in
00:06:23
or 20 cm. Now, we're shaping the
00:06:26
neckline so that the sweater sits
00:06:27
comfortably and meets at the center of
00:06:28
your chest. Start by placing a stitch
00:06:31
marker at the base of your neck. So,
00:06:32
from the top, count down from the
00:06:34
shoulder. Make sure it lands in a
00:06:35
multiple of three. Mine is in my 12th
00:06:38
stitch. That's just about 3 and 1/2 in
00:06:39
or 9 cm. Now, the following rows are
00:06:42
going to be exactly the same as the
00:06:43
previous rows, but now we're stopping at
00:06:45
the stitch marker, so just a hair
00:06:47
shorter. So keep working our back loop
00:06:49
half double crochets until it's time for
00:06:51
us to do our set stitch. Then set stitch
00:06:53
until we are one stitch right before our
00:06:55
stitch marker.
00:06:58
Then once we reach those two stitches,
00:06:59
we're going to skip that next stitch and
00:07:01
into that next, which should be the
00:07:02
stitch right before our stitch marker,
00:07:04
insert with a single crochet. Now this
00:07:06
row is completed and it's just going to
00:07:08
be our same sedge stitch rows. So chain
00:07:11
two, flip sedge stitch until it's time
00:07:13
to do our back loop halves, then back
00:07:15
loop half into the rest of our stitches.
00:07:17
Now, double check your count here. Make
00:07:18
sure that you're writing this down. The
00:07:20
stitch marker sets the balance for both
00:07:21
sides. Now, from here, just work these
00:07:24
additional neckline rows until this can
00:07:25
reach the center of your chest.
00:07:28
And closing off this last front panel
00:07:30
row. I'm just going to chain one and cut
00:07:32
right after my 28th row. This width just
00:07:35
about 10 in or 25 cm. Now, we're going
00:07:38
to repeat this process for a second
00:07:40
front panel that is done exactly the
00:07:42
same way. But right after the second
00:07:43
one, we are not going to cut. If
00:07:45
possible, we're just going to place a
00:07:46
stitch marker under there as a
00:07:47
placeholder cuz we're going to do a
00:07:49
mattress stitch once we have our back
00:07:50
panel completed.
00:07:55
Now, speaking of our back panel, it
00:07:56
balances the front. It's worked in one
00:07:58
solid piece for structure and fit. So,
00:08:00
it's just another rectangle. We're going
00:08:02
to make the same chain in multiples of
00:08:04
three that matches the length of the
00:08:06
front panel's shoulder down to the
00:08:07
bottom. This is going to ensure that
00:08:09
both panels align evenly once when
00:08:10
they're seame together.
00:08:12
Then we're going to work half double
00:08:13
crochets in the back loops only for the
00:08:16
same number of total rows as the front
00:08:18
panel. So my front panel had 28 rows for
00:08:22
one, 28 rows for the next. My back panel
00:08:24
is 56 rows. Now make sure you're keeping
00:08:27
your tension consistent. This panel sets
00:08:29
the sweater's overall width and drape.
00:08:31
And if you guys love what you see, tap
00:08:33
join to become a channel member and
00:08:35
unlock exclusive perks. Then right after
00:08:37
that, we're actually ready to seam it
00:08:39
all together. So just place your front
00:08:40
panel on top of your back panel.
00:08:42
Neckline within the center. Then we're
00:08:45
just going to single crochet across both
00:08:46
of the tops at the same time. So place
00:08:49
your hook into the top corner stitches.
00:08:51
Pull through and chain one. We're
00:08:53
working one single crochet into every
00:08:55
side row in through both panels. So into
00:08:58
that first side row within the front,
00:09:00
find that top loop, insert. First side
00:09:03
row within the back. Find that top loop
00:09:05
and insert. I am going to be weaving in
00:09:07
my tail ends as I go because I do not
00:09:09
wish to weave them in later. Let's do
00:09:11
that again. Next side row, which is this
00:09:13
divot row right here. Find that top
00:09:16
loop, insert.
00:09:18
Find that next side row within the back.
00:09:21
Find that top loop and insert. Then to
00:09:23
weave in your tail ends as you go, we're
00:09:25
going to place our tail end over our
00:09:27
hook. Then we're going to stitch per
00:09:29
usual. And it should surround our tail
00:09:32
end, making sure that it's nice and
00:09:34
secure.
00:09:36
Now keep working up this single crochet
00:09:38
seam until we reach the last shoulder
00:09:39
row for the front panel. When we do cut,
00:09:42
then repeat on the other side. Then when
00:09:44
the second seam for the shoulder is
00:09:46
completed, we're going to jump straight
00:09:47
into seaming up the sides. So currently
00:09:50
the body is going to look like a vest.
00:09:52
Now for seaming up the sides, we're
00:09:53
going to need to decide where the
00:09:55
armhole width is going to be. Now for
00:09:56
most sizes, I would suggest about 2 in
00:09:59
underneath our underarm for a comfy fit,
00:10:01
which is what I did. It needs to be
00:10:02
worked in multiples of three. So, I
00:10:04
placed my stitch marker into the 30th
00:10:06
stitch from the top. That's just about 7
00:10:08
in or 18 cm. And this is still going to
00:10:10
be a single crochet seam, very similar
00:10:12
to the top of the shoulder, but actually
00:10:14
easier because we have actual stitches
00:10:16
to work into. We're going to single
00:10:18
crochet into both front and back panel
00:10:20
at the same time until we reach our
00:10:21
stitch marker.
00:10:24
Then, just make your way over to the
00:10:26
other side, but making sure that our
00:10:27
work is still flipped wrong side out cuz
00:10:29
we want all of these seams to be on the
00:10:30
inside once when it's worn. Then right
00:10:33
after that second side seam, we're ready
00:10:35
to seam up the center. First, we're
00:10:37
going to place a stitch marker into the
00:10:39
stitch where we'd like for the depth of
00:10:40
the neckline to be. So, at the base of
00:10:42
the zipper, I place my stitch marker
00:10:44
into the 10th stitch from the top of the
00:10:46
neckline. Now, we're going to do our
00:10:47
mattress seam. We're going to thread our
00:10:49
yarn needle, then insert underneath the
00:10:51
back loops of the first stitch on the
00:10:53
right panel,
00:10:55
then underneath the matching back loop
00:10:56
on the other.
00:11:03
So, starting from the outer edge, making
00:11:05
sure working into that back loop, weave
00:11:07
your needle through that back loop and
00:11:09
pull. Now, on the other side, in through
00:11:11
the same loop from the outside, weaving
00:11:14
inwards into that back loop and pull
00:11:16
through as well.
00:11:18
We're going to keep weaving back and
00:11:19
forth, loop to loop, just gently
00:11:20
tightening after every few stitches.
00:11:23
When you tighten it, it's basically
00:11:24
going to zip it closed. It's going to
00:11:26
lay flat. It's going to be nice and
00:11:27
stretchy and nearly invisible. We're
00:11:30
going to continue until we reach our
00:11:31
stitch marker. Then, we're going to
00:11:32
fasten off.
00:11:35
Now that our seam is nice and clean,
00:11:37
now's the opportune time to try it on.
00:11:39
Just make sure that everything is
00:11:40
sitting and fitting where you'd like for
00:11:41
it to be once when it's completed. Once
00:11:43
when it is, we're going to work on our
00:11:45
sleeve, which completes the drop
00:11:46
shoulder look and adds balance to the
00:11:48
overall sweater.
00:11:52
Start with our work flipped right side
00:11:54
out and place our hook into the stitch
00:11:56
that's nearest to the side seam within
00:11:57
the armhole. Then, we're going to work a
00:11:59
chain the length that we like for the
00:12:00
sleeve to be. This can be as short or as
00:12:02
long as you'd like. Mine's going to be
00:12:04
3/4. So, I'm making a chain of 35.
00:12:06
That's just about 11 in or 28 cm. Then,
00:12:09
right after that chain, we're going to
00:12:10
work a half double crochet row. Pretty
00:12:12
simple. Just chain two. That's our
00:12:14
turning chain. And put one half double
00:12:16
crochet into every chain. Starting with
00:12:18
the third chain from our hook. Now, this
00:12:21
row doesn't need to be worked into the
00:12:22
back bumps. Just make your way down with
00:12:24
our half doubles. At the end of the row,
00:12:26
we're going to end with the same number
00:12:27
of stitches as chains that we made.
00:12:28
Then, we're just going to connect it
00:12:29
into the base by slip stitching into
00:12:31
that second stitch into the base. So,
00:12:33
there's one, there's two. Into that
00:12:36
second stitch, we're going to slip
00:12:38
stitch into there to anchor down this
00:12:40
first row. This slip stitch doesn't
00:12:41
actually count as a stitch. Then we need
00:12:43
to work our way up to the following row
00:12:44
as well. So simply slip stitch up that
00:12:46
next stitch into the base. That
00:12:48
basically counts as our turning chain.
00:12:50
Doesn't actually count as a stitch. Flip
00:12:52
our work. And now back loop half all the
00:12:54
way down. We just want to make sure that
00:12:55
we're not working into any of those slip
00:12:57
stitches into the base. We want to end
00:12:58
with the same number of stitches as
00:13:00
chains that we made for the entirety of
00:13:01
the sleeve. So no increases, no
00:13:03
decreases. Then when we're at the end of
00:13:05
the row, just to do the following row
00:13:07
together, chain two, flip, and keep
00:13:09
working our back loop half double
00:13:11
crochets until we reach the base. Then
00:13:13
just like the last row, we're going to
00:13:15
slip stitch into that second stitch into
00:13:16
the base. We're connecting into the
00:13:18
second because a half double crochet is
00:13:20
kind of tall,
00:13:22
but to work our way up to the next row,
00:13:24
we're just going to slip stitch up that
00:13:25
next stitch. Now, the half double is
00:13:26
kind of tall, but not quite as tall as a
00:13:28
double crochet. So, we don't want to
00:13:29
stretch out our stitch too much. Then
00:13:31
continue with back loop halves. Now,
00:13:34
keep on working these back loop half
00:13:35
double crochet rows until it worked into
00:13:37
every stitch. Then, we're going to seam
00:13:39
it up with the same single crochet seam
00:13:41
that we did for the body. Then, we're
00:13:43
going to finish up the sleeve with our
00:13:44
cuff. We're going to single crochet
00:13:47
along the edge. That's going to give us
00:13:48
a clean base for the cuff, but also help
00:13:50
cinch in our sleeve. This is going to be
00:13:53
pretty easy. Simply put one single
00:13:54
crochet into every side row. So, we
00:13:57
should have same amount of stitches as
00:13:58
sleeve rows that we have. This single
00:14:00
crochet row is going to be as wide as it
00:14:01
can fit. If it's too tight or too loose,
00:14:03
go ahead and just redo this row with a
00:14:05
different tension.
00:14:07
Working in the rounds with this row,
00:14:08
we're going to need to connect the end
00:14:10
to the beginning of this row. Now, we
00:14:12
would typically just slip stitch into
00:14:14
that chain space, but when we do that,
00:14:16
that gives us an additional stitch for
00:14:18
the row. Now, you could just easily
00:14:19
place a stitch marker under there just
00:14:21
to remind you that it's not an actual
00:14:22
stitch. But something else that you can
00:14:24
do is with your working yarn, pull up
00:14:26
some slack. Place your hook into that
00:14:30
chain space and place your slack loop
00:14:32
back on your hook and pull through.
00:14:37
Now, it's still attached, but it doesn't
00:14:39
give us any additional stitches. No
00:14:40
confusion. Now, we're going to make a
00:14:43
chain the length that we'd like for our
00:14:44
cuff to be. I'd like for mine to be just
00:14:46
about 3 in or 8 cm. So, I'm starting
00:14:48
with a chain 13.
00:14:50
Now, we already know how to work into
00:14:51
the back bumps, but now we're going to
00:14:53
do back bump slip stitches. So, we're
00:14:55
going to chain one. That chain one's our
00:14:57
turning chain into that second chain
00:15:00
from our hook. Making sure we're working
00:15:01
into that back bump. Yarn over and
00:15:03
gently pull through everything on our
00:15:05
hook. That's our first slip stitch. Once
00:15:07
more into that next chain's back bump,
00:15:10
yarn over, pull through everything. And
00:15:12
make sure you're not tugging through too
00:15:14
tightly cuz otherwise the following row
00:15:15
can be too tight to work into. But we're
00:15:17
just going to keep working our back bump
00:15:19
slip stitches until we reach the base.
00:15:22
We're just going to slip stitch into
00:15:23
that next stitch into the base. So this
00:15:25
is mine right here. Insert with a slip
00:15:28
stitch. Remember the slip stitches into
00:15:29
the base don't actually count as a
00:15:31
stitch. That's just to connect. Then to
00:15:33
work our way up to the following row,
00:15:34
slip stitch up that next stitch. Flip
00:15:36
our work and do a back loop slip stitch
00:15:38
row. But making sure we're not working
00:15:39
into any of those slip stitches into the
00:15:41
base cuz remember they don't actually
00:15:43
count as stitches. And now that we're at
00:15:45
the end of the row, we're just going to
00:15:46
chain one, flip our work, and make our
00:15:48
way back down with one back loop slip
00:15:50
into every stitch. And keep repeating
00:15:52
these two rows until we run out of
00:15:54
stitches. Then we're going to seam
00:15:55
everything together with an outside loop
00:15:57
slip stitch seam. Now, this seam is
00:16:00
going to look like another back loop
00:16:01
slip stitch row so that it blends in
00:16:02
seamlessly with the cuff. So to do that,
00:16:05
we're going to make sure that our work
00:16:06
is flipped right side out. Inserting our
00:16:08
hook into the corner stitches of both
00:16:09
the front and the back panel, we're
00:16:11
going to find that first loop within the
00:16:12
front panel. Insert only into that front
00:16:14
loop. Next stitch into the back panel.
00:16:16
Insert only into that back. Then yarn
00:16:19
over and pull through all three loops on
00:16:20
our hook. And that's our outside loop
00:16:22
slip stitch seam. Now just keep seaming
00:16:24
up our cuff until we run out of
00:16:26
stitches. Then repeat on the other side.
00:16:30
Now since we've just completed the
00:16:31
sleeves and the cuffs, we're going to
00:16:32
work the bottom band. But the bottom
00:16:34
band is actually going to be done nearly
00:16:36
the same way as the cuff.
00:16:42
So, just to talk you guys through it,
00:16:43
our work flipped right side out, right
00:16:45
side out. We're going to do a single
00:16:46
crochet row. Just one single crochet
00:16:48
into every side row. Then, right after
00:16:50
that, we're going to jump straight into
00:16:52
the length of the bottom band by making
00:16:53
a chain the length that we'd like for
00:16:54
the bottom band to be. Mine
00:16:56
coincidentally is going to be the same
00:16:58
as the cuff, which is just 3 in or 8 cm.
00:17:00
So, chain 13 for me. Then, all the way
00:17:02
around with our back loop slip stitches.
00:17:05
Then, just completing it with our
00:17:06
outside loop slip stitch seam. Easy
00:17:09
peasy. Then we're going to do another
00:17:10
back loop slip stitch section, but that
00:17:12
is the collar.
00:17:17
Now, the collar is what frames the
00:17:19
neckline and adds that nice, clean,
00:17:21
sleek finish. So, we're going to make
00:17:23
sure our work is flipped right side out.
00:17:25
Insert your hook into our neckline edge.
00:17:28
Then, do a single crochet row all the
00:17:30
way around. Now, into each of our side
00:17:32
rows that we have, whether if it's a
00:17:34
side edge stitch or the side half double
00:17:36
crochets, we're going to alternate
00:17:37
between one to two single crochets into
00:17:39
each of those. Then, into this first
00:17:42
side row, find that top loop and insert
00:17:44
with just one single crochet. We know
00:17:46
how to do that already. Then into that
00:17:48
next side row, find that top loop and
00:17:50
insert with two single crochets. So,
00:17:52
there's one. Then into the top of that
00:17:54
same side row with a second. and keep on
00:17:58
working this single crochet row. Once we
00:18:00
reach our regular stitches, just one
00:18:01
single crochet into each of those. Then
00:18:04
at the other corner of our neckline,
00:18:06
we're going to work a chain the length
00:18:07
that we'd like for the collar to be.
00:18:08
Remember that this is going to house the
00:18:10
zipper as well. Now, this is going to be
00:18:12
done exactly the same way as our cuff
00:18:14
and our bottom band. Coincidentally,
00:18:17
again, I'd like for the height of my
00:18:18
collar to be just about 3 in or 8 cm.
00:18:20
So, that is a chain 13 for me. Then,
00:18:22
working back into the neckline all the
00:18:24
way back around to where we started.
00:18:26
more back loop slip stitch rows. No
00:18:28
increases, no decreases for that
00:18:30
stretchy knit-like look. And when you're
00:18:32
worked into the last stitch into the
00:18:34
collar, we're just going to chain one
00:18:36
and cut. Then we're going to add the
00:18:38
star of the show, which is the zipper.
00:18:40
Now, a really quick side quest for the
00:18:42
zipper. I need to shorten mine. First,
00:18:44
we're going to mark the length that we
00:18:45
want. So, set the base of your close end
00:18:47
zipper at the base of our neckline slit.
00:18:49
We're going to stitch across the teeth
00:18:51
at the point to create a new stop. Now,
00:18:53
using the same color thread as a zipper,
00:18:56
just make a good amount of passes in
00:18:58
between those teeth. We want to make
00:19:00
sure that this is thick enough so that
00:19:02
the zipper doesn't fly off once we zip
00:19:03
it all the way up.
00:19:06
We're going to trim the excess zipper
00:19:07
right above your stitches. Repeat on the
00:19:10
other side. Your zipper is now the
00:19:12
perfect length. Now, onward to the quick
00:19:14
zipper install. We're going to line it
00:19:16
up neatly along the neckline opening.
00:19:18
We're going to use the same yarn to sew
00:19:20
it in place with a simple running
00:19:21
stitch. We're going to make sure that
00:19:23
the collar stays even on both sides. So,
00:19:25
just make sure that when you're pinning
00:19:26
it down, this single crochet row aligns
00:19:28
cuz that's what's going to keep it look
00:19:29
nice and crispy. Now, when it comes to
00:19:32
the running stitch, keep your stitches
00:19:33
small and even so that the zipper can
00:19:35
glide smoothly. When that's completed on
00:19:38
both sides, we're then going to fold the
00:19:40
zipper tape over and secure it in with
00:19:42
another row of running stitches just so
00:19:44
we can hide the previous row of running
00:19:46
stitches so that the inside looks nice
00:19:47
and clean. We're going to repeat that on
00:19:50
the other side as well. With the zipper
00:19:52
being all sewn in, we are all done. Now,
00:19:54
just the last thing I have to do is
00:19:55
weave in all of our ends.
00:19:58
And there you have it, y'all. Your very
