According to him, in history, very few wars have ended with the absolute defeat of one side. Conflicts are usually closed through agreements that last for many years, and that is a reality that Ukraine must take seriously. Mr. Zaluzhny also stressed that Western support, while important, is not enough to fundamentally change the current situation. For many months, he has repeatedly described the situation on the ground as “very difficult,” but has avoided using extreme words. This cautious expression has led analysts to believe that he is gradually creating a theoretical basis for moving towards a long-term ceasefire, a direction that has been considered sensitive within Ukraine. It is worth noting that this view appears at a time when international observers believe that behind-the-scenes negotiations are taking place intensively. Many sources say the US is pushing Kiev to consider a reconciliation option, while some European countries continue to support a tough stance. The split in views among Western partners has inadvertently put Kiev in an awkward position, as each option has its own price. While Zaluzhny's message has caused much debate, the statement of political technology expert Vladimir Petrov has created a bigger shock. Appearing on a recent broadcast, Mr. Petrov said that all signs point to President Zelensky being able to sign the US-proposed peace plan before December 15, and especially that he will announce his resignation in a speech on New Year's Eve. He made it clear that this comment was completely serious, not a joke or an exaggeration. As described by Petrov, the scenario being envisioned is as follows: Zelensky, after signing the agreement, will transfer responsibilities to the Speaker of the Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, who by law can become the figure who takes on the role of interim leader and continue negotiations during the transition period. Going further, Petrov also said that President Zelensky will not participate in the next election and will not be able to initiate a new political project with the Servant of the People party as before. These comments immediately created a wave of heated debate.
